I'm A Mecha Pilot Now
This board seems pretty dead, so it's a perfect place to brag about something very trivial.
One day I decided out of complete boredom to meditate for an entire hour. This unlocked the hidden potential of my imagination, allowing me to visualize things to great effect. And it's not just limited to sight either, I can touch things, taste then and hear them with great detail.
Instead of using this power to fulfill some sort of sick fantasy, I decided to use it to fulfill my childhood dream of piloting a giant robot. At first I was in a black void, which was supposed to be the mecha's cockpit and slowly built things from there. A chair to sit on, walls to surround me and lots and lots of levers came into existence. Then I focused on making the outward appearance of the robot and the bland world it inhabits. Every time I needed my mecha to do something it couldn't yet do, such as moving its head, I'd simply add another button, lever or other component into the cockpit to serve that purpose.
After many sessions of spending time in my mecha and constantly tripping over because piloting mecha is hard, I suddenly noted two things. The first was a simple issue, I never installed a hatch to get out of this machine, and fixed that with a red button that reads "GET OUT" on it. On the other hand, the second issue was one I couldn't anticipate. The ruined city landscape I used for assistance in testing my mecha's movement was now overrun by giant monsters. A crazy-looking girl appeared on my screen and told me that she's going to kill me. The girl looked like she came right out of Umineko, and from the looks of it she was in her own mecha cockpit. Then one of the monsters attacked my fragile, unarmed mecha and died instantly. While dying does boot me out of my deep concentration, I can always jump back in at any time, with a shiny new incarnation of my same mecha. I've really gotten to know my mecha and can visualize its cockpit, outward appearance and important internal details with ease.
Because I still want to mess around in that same imaginary world, I now have to deal with the monsters and other mecha commanded by that weirdo who refuses to name herself. So basically I now have to create weapons for my mecha and to fight for my right to have fun in my giant robot.
That's all for now.
Yo dudes, I made a Votoms rpg.

Updated it recently, expanded pilot creation, added Civvie, Quent, and Bandit ATs. If anybody is interested in please say so.
Hey BO
I'm really sorry you took control of the board just before all this shit had to go down.
I hope this place survives, you've been handling the place really well so far and I among other anons were trying to put effort into posting regularly. It's sad that after so many years of using 8/m/, that might stop soon.
Leaving 8kun
The BO and such has left for https://prolikewoah.com/mecha/
It will be home for the time being.
Apparently there's going to be a Pacific Rim anime?
It's coming out this year and will have two seasons.
And it's by Netflix.
There's very little I can find out about it. I have no hope for it, it's being written by the guy behind Thor Ragnarok and the writer of X-Men: Evolution. Yeah, because that's what we need in mecha, more capeshit industry figures

G Gundam Stream
Fixed my net and I want to redeem myself for both /a/nimu and /m/ so I'm doing another /m/echa stream this time of G Gundam. So tune in at 7:30PM EST https://cytu.be/r/JazzyNights >>>/a/953963
Kamen Rider General: 8kun Edition
Well in Kamen Rider developments, ZI-O happened. While a better anniversary than Decade, it didn't quite have a strong footing of it's own. Leading to a lot of questions left unanswered. With two movies, one of which is supposedly non-canon but is referenced in the show. Then the other that's been established as an alternate timeline by the director. With Geiz Majesty coming in March, hopefully we'll get some actual answers & closure this time.
Then from that trashfire, we get Zero One. Android sentience, company wars, & terrorism. It's pretty good. Currently on the 23rd episode soon to be released. Definitely should keep an eye on it. If you liked Ex-Aid, you'll probably like Zero One.
Now on another note, OZC has recently refused to correct an incorrect sub in his Kiva batch. Apparently due to the word 'master' having negative connotations. Despite the fact the characters say this word in english, he believes he can somehow "translate" this to 'boss' instead. It makes no sense.
Mecha engineering
I don't know if I'm posting in the right board for this, but is anybody interested in the science behind mecha? I think about mecha and what intricate feats of engineering they must require. How they move, how they are powered, how they would be built….
Media is nice, but I'd like to get into the nuts and bolts of how these things can work.
Gundam Thunderbolt stream
/a/nimu here doing a Gundam Thunderbolt stream tonight at 7:30pm EST https://cytu.be/r/JazzyNights

Mecha and the West?
Why do you think that mecha seems to fail so horribly in the west? In the Early 2000s they made Megas XLR. The writing was fun, and it helped alleviate the low budget animation. It still got canned despite being decently popular.
Then years later Sym-bionic titan came along. It had actually good animation and it was a pretty good, if vanilla, super robot show. It also got canned despite having a decent viewership and it got even less episodes than Megas, which ended with the series being rushed towards a conclusion.
Then we have Pacific Rim, which also was decent, but it got panned critically, and people hated it for reason ranging from "not being realistic" to "being dumb".
Why do you think the genre just doesn't stick in the west despite other cartoons being made with clear anime genres influence?
HARDCORE MECHA
So this just came out on steam and PS4, I totaly overlooked it at first because the title was really stupid, but watching it in action and seeing that the title song was sung by Hironobu Kageyama i checked it out properly and holy shit im glad i did. Its basicaly Assault Suit Valken/Leynos via wayof SRW in its style of mechs
https://store.steampowered.com/app/746580/HARDCORE_MECHA/
If that sounds appealing to you I highly recommend checking it out.
I did a stream of it if you want to check it out in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX-aNgr5LU4 Im a big fan of both SRW and the Assault Suite games so i am quite bias, this game is essentially made for me.
Godzilla: Kaijuu Wakusei spoiler thread
Watched it.
Giant monsters start showing up from the end of the 20th century and wreck Earth, the worst of all being Godzilla. Also aliens show up and befriend mankind and help fight the monsters but by the mid 21st century 90% of the population is dead anyway and mankind has to abandon Earth.
20 years later and one of the two immigrant ships is running out of resources with no habitable planet in site and they decide to warp back to Earth, especially since protagonist Haruo has been researching Godzilla and has a plan on how to kill him (turns out that Godzilla has a shield which is what let him do shit like tank 150 nukes at the same time and Haruo has figured out how to turn it off).
They go back to Earth where 20000 years have passed and send out a team to kill Godzilla. The team gets wrecked by the smaller flying monsters and they decide to evacuate but run into Godzilla (50 m) and carry out Haruo's plan instead. It succeeds and they kill Godzilla.
The professor then tells Haruo that what they killed couldn't have been the original Godzilla because it was completely identical to their 20000 year old data. The original Godzilla (over 300 m) then pops out of a mountain, shoots down the landing ships by barking supersonic waves at them, and then wipes out everything on the ground by waving his tail at them which shoots out a beam shockwave.
Post-credits scene has Haruo wake up after having been rescued by some indigenous girl (descendant of survivors from 20000 years ago) wearing weird junk. Final shot is a still of him and other people standing in front of Mecha Godzilla.
Shin Godzilla
Copypasting stuff from you know where, spoilers of course:
———————————–
PM is shown as indecisive and dumb but is willing to work with the US (doing so jndirectly kills him) and even has the SDF stand down at one point when it turns out that two civillians haven't evacuated the area yet
His actions are understandable becausr they have no idea how much of a threat godzilla is until he goes full ideon which is what kills the PM
Germany lets japan use their supercomputers, france helps stall the nume attack, yanks want to nuke but would do so even if this was NY and still help in operation yashiori (it's thanks to their drones that they can get godzilla to waste energy so they can attack him)
Final (fourth) form has the godzilla theme playing
Final showdown had SDF theme
Credits have original versions of both
Also a recurring BGM that has different versions building up as the movie goes on is VERY close to Decisive Battle
It starts playing and i literally laughed going holy shit anno put decisive battle in godzilla
It's not the same though, just te first bits of it repeated forever
operation to freeze godzilla is the yashiori sakusen
Like yashima sakusen
Only yashiori
And Ishihara's english is atrocious
No "tadpole" that i noticed
First form seen is some sort of retarded rat chicken with stumps for arms
Last scrne is closeup of tail tip, it's humanoid shapes (dead people?) reachig for the heavens and I just know there's a famous sculpture it looks like but i'm forgettig shat it was (somehjg to do with dantes inferno?
>Do you think theres some points to those guys that saw the movie and made little articles complaining about the "nationalistic issue" in the last days and citing it as something that could affect foreign views on the movie?
No
Takes the piss out of the left as well but mostly out of dumb conservative politicians
Only bits that could be jnterpretaed that way are
-early on they don't attack godzilla because muh constitution (more poking fun at politicians putting their own interests before other things- they don't want to be the ones to do something with no precedent)
-china and russia are 100% assholes but that's just being true to real life
Felt more like a god warrior than godzilla but i liked him
Everything the SDF throws at him literally can't make a scratch. The only time any damage is done to him is when the yank B2s drop bunker busters on him which damage him once. Up till then he didn't even seem to register anything as a threat and was just waddling around, but after the bunker busters he does his Ideon impersonation and nothing can hit him at all (all the bombs AND bombers are shot down by his fin beams, plus the PM and most of the cabinet are killed by this too).
He can breathe both fire (regular fire) and the purple beam which is a focused version of the fire. The first time he does the fire thing he incinerates a massive area and it's depicted like the city destroyer beam from Independence Day. The purple beams (mouth, fin and tail version) don't burn but cut, basically the same thing as the god warrior beam but without the huge explosions at the end.
They defeat him by throwing drones at him until he runs out of energy, then use train bombs and controlled demolition of skyscrapers nearby to knock him over so they can force-feed him a thing to freeze him.
Happy Birthday!
Greetings, Garmafags people of Zeon! Today is, indeed, a special day. As it marks not only the birthday of our beloved prince but, also the day our foremost flying fortress, the ACA-01 Gaw saw its maiden voyage. Alongside our completion of the DFA-03 Dopp. To have both milestones of our principalities' engineering coincide with the birth of our prince is certainly, nothing short of a miracle. Now Garmafags everyone let the celebrations begin!

Mech Design Chart
Hey /m/, I'm doing something of questionably autistic measure.
I'm trying to make a very basic chart for mech/mecha design where examples can be sorted out, just for the hell of it. I thought it'd be nice for some board engagement/activity too, so why not.
This is what I got so far, encompassing general aspects that are usually found in each sufficiently distinct mech "type". It's still unfinished and everything's subject to change, of course. The spaces at the bottom are where design examples will go, but I'm aware that they are too small and I'll make them larger later when everything else is set. Input is appreciated.
Is it good? Is it shit? Missing anything major? Should I kill myself instead?
Gundam Beast needs to happen
After all the horrible U.C. reboots and utterly wasteful A.U.s Gundam needs to make a very surefire success with big names. get Obari or whoever else is still awesome enough to make robots do cool shit and have at it with these concepts. Throw some Zoids-esque story or something and it's golden.
Bio-organic Mechas
Should there be more series with bio-organic mechas? Should there even be a series with bio-organic mecha that is equal parts horror and action? Should we even have a series that treats these kinds of bio-machines with the Lovecraftian mysticism the Demon of Steel OVA treats them?
And many more questions. So far, the only things that fit close the bill, from memory, are of course the Einst from Banpresto and the Bird Human from Macross…can't remember if the Gilgamesh units from Macross II fit that bill. Surprisingly, the red Gilgamesh unit from Macross II bears a very eery resemblance to the red mecha from the HnO movie, the titular Hagane. Right down to the two thumb hands.
The weirdest thing of all is that I haven't found games with them as the main mechas, just as enemies only. Could they work in a Zone of the Enders type of game or some other type?
Iron Man vidya
>Seriously, why aren't there good Iron Man vidya?
The guy is one of the most anime motherfuckers in all of the western world despite what people want to believe, he's a guy that basically builds his own power armours that as time goes on take on more and more a slicker, more japanese and Metal Heroes-ish style, heck even adapting some of other famous japanese power armour design ques, like Samus' Varia Suit. And he even builds his own "Buster" suits in comics that are either Power Ranger styled Battlizer or a Megazord if the situation needs it.
So I ask this : why oh why, is it so darn difficult to make a good Iron Man game? Especially when the japanese already have multiple playstyles ready for the guy. You could pick from FROMSOFT's Armored Core titles to be adapt Iron Man or Artdink's Macross Ultimate Frontier specifically to make something with the character or even if all those fail, why not give it to the Lost Planet - EX Troopers team at Capcom to make a game fitting the character?
God's Fang JINGA
I almost feel bad for the Ryuga-verse of Garo. It's so… boring. It's all flair and no substance. Just throwing things at the wall and nothing is sticking. Ryuga himself is the least stand out character in his own show. You'd think not having physical suits for most of the fights would mean there'd be more fights. But it even the newest movie before this series finds an excuse to keep the armors away from the users. Just so many bad decisions.
BUT somehow someway…. Decade Jinga has made this universe enjoyable. I care more about Jinga in 3 episodes than I did about Ryuga or Rian in one series and two movies.
Super Robot Wars ? roster has leaked.

Why did this fail?
Seriously, why? Was it due to the Arcade machines costing so much? Was it due to the battle system? The 3DS game's an OK RPG by SE standards and the animu was good…the mecha's were pretty rad. Is it because they opted for Super versions of the mechas instead of gattais and not using Eurobeat?
At least now SE knows how to do arcade mechas with Starwing Paradox, so hopefully we get a continuation of this. Would be ultra cool to see some more of this franchise.
I must say, that Eureka Seven was a fantastic show! The world-building is top notch with a definite focus on "show, don't tell." The main characters punk/hip hop vibe contrasting against a militaristic society work incredibly well. Despite being a "love conquers all" story, it really hits the themes of a coming of age story hard and precise. I'm not sure why everyone feels so blasé about it, it certainly deserves a top spot.
Kamen Rider Universes
With Decade 2.0 on the horizon, I wanna take the time to discuss exactly how the flimsy canon of Kamen Rider works. From what I've searched, most information is second hand and nothing I can find are statements directly from Toei on how it all works. I of course have my own theory seen here in the most basic form I could put it. If you can disprove or add to it, be free to do so.

Brain Powerd was much better than I thought it would be. Tomino's jab at second wave feminism was a lot less of a comical blunder than most review sites I read about it on. I wonder how much of that is due to my increasingly conservative views?
Regardless, the art is great. I hate that they float so much because it really makes it difficult to have dynamic choreography that way. However, it is does well enough. Not the best shooty bang bang mecha out there but I love it for the characters and message.
Kamen Rider Amazons Available in English on Amazon Prime
>Amazon has officially released the first season of Kamen Rider Amazons for their Amazon Prime service, under the new name Amazon Riders. This features episodes 1-13, with English subtitles. It is has been confirmed to available on US, Brazil, UK, Germany, and Mexico platforms at this time.
>Kamen Rider Amazons was originally released on Japan’s Amazon Prime service in 2016 and ran for two seasons. It will be seeing movie releases based on these two seasons, followed by a final movie that concludes the story on May 19th.
The Brave Express Might Gaine
Hello /m/, I'm a newfag so if there is already a thread about this, don't get mad at me I'll just delete my shit.
My question is why there is no good translation for Might Gaine yet? Is it because automated one from bakabt is sorta understandable and no one bothers? There is a much better quality not subbed DVD rip lying on nyaa for years now.
I think it's one of the best non-grimdark mecha series out there, that still for some reason gets grimdark at the end.
It also has my favourite robot design, the titular Might Gaine! Though I think that his upgraded form looks stupid.
And the question regarding the big dark reveal: Is the world where characters live actually some sort of virtual simulation, or it is real but artificially created by aliens to be broadcasted galaxy-wide?
Another question: will it, or other series from this franchise like GGG ever get Bluray re-release?
Megaton Musashi
Does anyone remember Megaton Musashi? Does anybody here know what happened to this series?
For anyone who needs a refresher; Megaton Musashi isn't just an anime, like Gundam Age and Inazuma Eleven, it was supposed to be Level-5's next cross-media production which meant anime, manga, toys(and amiibos?) and of course video games as well, namely on the PS4 and 3DS with the 3DS being the primary platform. It was supposed to be a…Danball Senki meets Gundam except they are Super Robots on the moon and with the storyline of Getter Robo Armaggedon except the Moon Wars and the extinction of mankind from the Invaders happen at the same time. The gameplay for the 3DS at least was to be like Danball Senki's except refined and it seems like you collected robots a la Gotcha Force. Sources below :

Turn A's DOC Base
DOC (Device Operation Control) Base. This as a set with the Turn A Gundam is known as "System ∀".
A massive mobile armour that docks with Turn A Gundam that is "a tactical system that revolutionises traditional MS operations".
Only rough designs existed, never fully seen in the show. The weapon silo under Vicinity is all that remains of it.
The rough was drawn by Sunrise's Horiguchi and is considered "semi-official".
The model seen in the picture is based on the rough sketch, which is not of the entire unit (it supposedly continues on further to the left).

I know we have a stuff to watch thread, but what about stuff to read? I'm catching up on gundam and i see here and there continuations to various series, but the amout of stuff feels too much and unfocused (like the star wars books/comics garbage that they kept on releasing during the prequels).
active shows
so per somebody's idea sorta there's some currently running shows over at
like most cytubes it needs the google drives userscript
I'll try to keep up with updating it since it's getting me to watch a lot more stuff.
Shinkalion: Kid pilots transforming train robot. Vaguely similar in flavor to Gyrozetter.
Lupinranger VS Patranger: Current Sentai. Rival taskforces of cops and Arsene Lupins are fighting evil crooks from another dimension.
Kamen Rider Build: Current Masked Rider. Japan is split into three rival nations. This makes Metal Heroes have drama with each other and fight. Uhh, I mean Kamen Riders. Yeah.
Darling in the FranXX. In the future Earth sucks. People live in roaming domes and monsters are running wild on the desolate surface, fought by robots that look like girls. Here's some teen pilot crap instead of that cool stuff.
Legend Of The Galactic Heroes TV: Space war series of novels that were made into a very well-regarded OVA series are now a TV anime.
Tiramisu: Comedy show about a robot space war in the way Cromartie was about high school.
Cutey Honey Universe: New tv of the franchise
Megalobox: Ashita no Joe-inspired show about boxers wearing power armor type frames
Gundam Build Divers: Gundam Build returns with MMO-style action.
And the rest!

Sword Gai
Hey /m/ , anybody reading or watching Sword Gai, also known as the second bastard child of Toshiki Inoue and Keita Amemiya after Inoue droped acid and forgot that this isn't 2006 before Lost Child / Project Cerberus came out. Saw the anime but it was a pile of shit given it was a.)an anime original plot after some point and b.)a Netflix anime. The plot being the biggest offender since it seemed as if a drunk Toshiki Inoue cut a plot a somber Toshiki Inoue wrote, worte his own plot, cut that one up as well and then combined both of them in the most nonsensical and non-sequential way possible.
I should hate it but I unironically love it since the anime is like an anime from the early 00s trying to imitate Soul Taker and failing. It even has 00's level CG in it. But that's probably because I was nostalgic for that kind of thing and a second viewing(KEK) will make me change my mind.
Senritsu no Stratus / Stratus of Terror
From the company that brought you some of the Clock Tower games,NightCry and helped with the first Tekki / Steel Battalion game, KONAMI gives them five cheeseburgers to make the best PSP game ever.
They make what is essentially the adaptation of another manga / anime(can't remember exactly) and put mecha in it. It looks like EVangelion but it's not, the similarities are insanely superficial.
The gameplay consists of the hero doing something mundane which involves talking and doing RPG shit, the second phase is the aliens attacking and you going out on the field and fighting aliens, saving civilians, gathering intel etc and then going back to the HQ to give out an accurate report that will move you to the third phase : the giant mecha battle. Then plot happens, the episode ends and you watch an ending as if in anime. Then, after you save the game, the next episode starts with an opening. No joke. Unfortunately the game is very much on the cheap side, 30FPS etc you know the drill but since it's on the PSP you can emulate it(I don't think you can buy it anymore anyway) and it's really worth it for those who like mechas and the whole ground level fight before having the big climatic giant battle.

For those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Christmas 0080 stream
Hello my comatose /m/en
From one /m/an to another I'm hoping you guys will stop by the 23rd for a stream of 0080 War in the pocket. Showing starts at 4PM EST with a pre-show at 3:40pm EST to make sure shit synchs.
Before the stream goes to pre-show I'll post the link to the stream.

Please identify my music
Sorry to bother you /m/ but I thought that perhaps one of you would be able to identify this song. I made the .mp4 myself, slapping this unknown song onto a generic image lying about on my computer and compiling the two into an .mp4.

GARO Thread: An actual good anime Edition
I can't be the only one that's enjoying this show immensely. Before, I've tried the first Garo anime and the first live action toku show. Both bored me to death. Vanishing Line actually feels cool, exciting, and perhaps a bit fun for once. I don't know if it's any one thing but Sword himself definitely has to be one of the big reasons I enjoy it. He has so much personality to himself while not being another emo twink boy idol.
Ideas Guy
Hey /m/. I'm not a writer, or at least I didn't use to do so, but I wrote an idea for 2 toku shows I had in mine, one with KR dynamics and the other with team dynamics as in Super Sentai.
>KR team is based in Deadly Sins
>Super Sentai thing is something like GoGoFive/Lightspeed Rescue.
It's really rough since I don't plan to do anything at the moments, although I want to learn drawing to make comics or maybe an extremely low budget youtube serie or something. There's nothing final so at the very least I just want to share it since otherwise no one would read it anyway.

/m/ related vidya general
Hey /m/, I've been wondering, what do you guys think of /m/ related vidya? what are some of your favorites? any recommendations in particular? post 'em here.
for me, one of my favorite growing up was MS Saga: a new dawn for the PS2 (see vid related). it was a Gundam JRPG where you could build custom mobile suits from parts you gathered in dungeons and from random encounters. it was really cool and the boss battles were against the massive mobile armors like the Big Zam or antagonist Gundams like Master Gundam.
What makes a good Real Robot story?
Greetings /m/, I am a pilgrim from /tg/ and I come to you with a question for a game that I'm planning to run soon-ish. It's going to be a Real Robot game using Mekton Zeta (offering supreme flexibility when it comes to customization, but requires a LOT of math). But the question I pose to you is the following:
What makes a good Real Robot story?
Specifically what I'm looking for is what makes for a good plot, good characters and interesting battles. I'm planning for the players to be something of a mercenary group hired by the Powers That Be to perform missions (or one larger mission) to allow the players freedom while still giving them a goal. How would I go about crafting such a story? Or should I go with somthing completely different?
Pic semi-related, it's the Char clone from Warhammer 40,000.
Joint /u/m/ Stream
Would /m/ be interested in a crossover board stream with /u/?
I posted about how we were streaming Armored Trooper Votoms on 8/u/ in the stream sticky but never got a reply. Not sure if anyone here even saw it since with stickies they are always at the top of the board and if you only view the catalog you won't see any real change if it's just one or two posts added.
Gonna be streaming the last three eps of the Woodo arc tonight but if you want before I stream the next yuri show I could get you all caught up to us on VOTOMS. Then begin the joint stream between boards.
I might also invite /a/ and stream a show for them as well if they are interested.
Infini-T Force
So I started watching this a couple of days ago and I have to say I'm pleased with what I've seen. Gatchaman Ken and Polymar are my favorite so far, and while the pacing from scene to scene can be jumpy and rushed at times. Minus a tiny thing in ep4 that I thought kind of seemed odd. I think the big scenes with emotional impact seem to do their job.
Any thoughts so far?
Where is everybody?
Just a few weeks ago the board was picking back up in popularity, now it seemed to have dropped off again. There haven't been any posts in the last two days.
I get this board is slow - I've been here long enough to know that - but the current speed is painful.
Is there anything we could do to speed it up a bit that doesn't involve calling in users from other boards?

http://news.denfaminicogamer.jp/kikakuthetower/170731
The servants of Fate are born from the fun of broadly interpreting throwaway lines in legends
Terada: I like Teito Monogatari, and that too fused real people with original characters, so that you start to really think "The writer Kouda Rohan fought monsters". The same applies to Journey to the West, but if you want to put a real person into fiction, you have to really learn about that person first. With robot anime you can just watch the show and read the information, but with real people, and especially recent people, I think it turns out that a lot of them turn out to be different from what you expect. That's why while I like stuff like Makai Tensei which has real people in fiction, I think it'd be too difficult for me to pull off.
-We'd like to hear about how Fate was made
Nasu: Fate was just a denki novel (literary genre generally with occult stuff that has its root in legends or mythology) turned into a game. 80's denki novels, including Teito Monogatari had a common theme of "this stuff happened behind the scenes in actual history", which meant stories based on real events. This doesn't really apply to denki novels from the 00's and on, but the initial idea for Fate was made just at the end of that age, and is about stuff hidden behind modern society, and the heroic spirits are based on history. It's made to be loved by people interested in mythology and great figures from history. But lately I've been starting to hear questions like "Who is King Arthur?"…
Terada: Really?
Nasu: That's just how much the amount of basic knowledge users have has changed. We were making things based on an outdated format, and just hadn't realised it.
-Do you think there are people who didn't know who King Arthur was, who first grew to like Saber from Fate and then went and studied King Arthur?
Nasu: I think most people should have at least heard of King Arthur's name. When it comes to more minor characters, I hope that people can enjoy Fate by starting with "literally who?" and then looking them up and going "oh, that's how the legend goes" "they interpreted this part of the legend that way".
Terada: The level of reality is totally different, and you do learn about history. "There's no way someone like this could have really existed… They did!?".
Nasu: Just studying this stuff is fun. Some of these historical figures are really amazing, just loaded with anecdotes that make you go "what is this, a comic book?". Before FGO, if I wanted to have 14 heroic spirits I'd buy two books for each of the characters and read those, but FGO has over 150 and it's basically just world history at this point. I certainly wouldn't be able to handle this on my own, so I called up a few writers I could trust and we bought a load of books and spent a year studying them. It was a crazy start, but thanks to that we grew to understand historical figures much better, and were able to apply that to the writing.

'It' Producer to Adapt Sci-Fi Epic 'Ma.K' for Warner Bros
Roy Lee has teamed with Scott Bernstein to adapt the Japanese property for the big screen.
Fresh from the record-breaking box-office haul of horror-thriller It, producer Roy Lee is now setting his sights on giant robots and two-legged tanks.
Lee has teamed with Scott Bernstein, the Universal executive turned producer, and Warner Bros., which released It, to adapt Ma.K, an epic sci-fi property out of Japan.
Originating in the early 1980s in Hobby Japan magazine, Ma.K was a monthly comic that also tied into customizable model kits. It was created by artist and sculptor Kow Yokoyama, who worked with the magazine's editors to create an expansive universe inspired by Star Wars, Blade Runner and World Wars I and II. The combination of manga and models took off, gaining a worldwide cult following over time.
The story is set far, far into the future after a nuclear war caused survivors to flee Earth. When the planet is habitable once again, new colonies are set up, but it's not long before a battle over resources begins. When one side wants to make Earth independent, a new revolutionary war begins, this time with mechanized armor and robots.
"Kow is a world creator in the truest sense, and this project finally gives Ma.K a global audience who will experience this epic and rich sci-fi property as fans have for the last 35 years," says Kevin Munroe (TMNT), who will executive produce with Yokoyama, Rick Privman and Yumiko Miyano.
Gundam Seed
Hey /m/ I've followed https://imgur.com/m1mrtjX to watch the entire Gundam series up to Turn-A so far. Right now I'm wondering where to go next I've know that chronologically speaking I've got SEED coming up next but I genuinely don't know if I'll be able considering how bad it apparently is. Ditto for AGE which is supposedly absolute dogshit, could I reasonably just skip to 00 and Unicorn as opposed to watching SEED/Destiny/AGE?
Be warned I'm very drunk right now
hey anons. i used to watch anime as a little kid and there was one that stole my heart from the first episode. for some reason, they only aired the first episode. i can't remember its name. i was hoping someone here would recognize it from my memory.
here's what i remember: the anime was from the 80s or 90s. it was about an intergalactic war between humans (earth vs something). both sides used gigantic robots. the pilots were teens (16-20 year olds). the main character, was a fantastic pilot. at one fight he got critically injured and suffered a memory loss due to the injury. he was captured by his enemies and they made him fight his people. last thing i remember was him being sent off after getting treatment to fight and he BTFO'd his former friends. they thought of him as a traitor after the fight. that's all i can remember. please help.

You are cordially invited
Good evening /m/, I am the Board Owner of >>>/bmn/ and run the weekly Bad Movie Night stream a few of you may have heard about. The purpose of this thread is to serve as an invitation to any and all anons of this board to join in our 1 year anniversary celebration stream.
I hope you will join us Saturday night for a celebration of the best I have to offer. The night will be more than double stuffed compared to normal nights, with 7 movies instead of 3, all from the glory pile. The show list includes: Dracula 3000, Alien vs Ninja, Vampiyaz, Bug Buster, Robot Wars, Evolver, and 90210 Shark Attack. The first 6 earned their places for relative bits of quality, entertainment value or even fun, while 90210 Shark attack earned its spot by dumbfounding everyone with how awful it was. In particular, I think you all might enjoy our robot movie block.
I hope you will join us for this occasion, both to join us in shitposting about bad movies with other anons, and to enjoy a small project I have been working on for this occasion. Information about the anniversary stream can be found on >>>/bmn/49 or in pic related.
Toku Streaming
Alright, Kissasian is dead to me. Finally bypassed it's anti-adblock only for it to fail me yet again. Kissasian was the only reliable site I found with a wide array of toku. With the death of nyaa, many translated batches were lost so downloading isn't much of an option. Jatoku meanwhile has most of it's videos removed or just plain not working because the site with them won't let you access them.
So basically, I'm looking for alternatives to streaming toku online. Downloading is fine too if you can find older torrents that are still around. But it'll most likely take a while compared to just watching this stuff online.

"Char Was Supposed To Appear in ZZ"
"The project for Gundam ZZ was started as a direct continuation of Z Gundam, and the story first thought of could be said to be the exact opposite of what was ultimately aired."
"To the left is the initial proposal, and as you can see there are large differences, such as with Emma Sheen who died at the end of Z Gundam had survived and was instead going to die here. But the biggest difference was that Char was going to appear. He was going to switch sides to Haman Karn, and attack the Argama that he was a member of just a while ago. "
"The story in this proposal is a lot darker than what was broadcast"
"Though (Char) is an enemy of the protagonists, in the end he kills Hamaan. But ultimately he cannot come as close to awakening as a newtype as Judau. He is a lonely man who cannot become a newtype."
"The Mineva Zabi appearing in this proposal is very much the real one."
"Many people who watched (Mobile Suit) Gundam and Z Gundam wondered if this little girl would one day influence the world of Gundam someday. An orphan of the Zabi family, though she was a little girl who only existed to be used by Hamaan when she reappeared, something about her gave out a premonition of the ideal newtype. Here, she comes to Earth. It is not an overstatement to say that this is representative of the spiritual fusion of space immigrants and those who stayed on Earth.
"There is not much of a difference in the personality of the Judau in this proposal and the version aired. He is just slightly a bit more mature, due to influence from Emma and Char. The reason is because he was created to be the opposite of Camille."
"(Judau) was created as someone to awaken as a healthy newtype. But that is why in the end he has to leave Earth."
old school mecha
so I've started down the rabbit hole that is classic super robots beating the shit out of giant monsters. figured I'd start with the original Getter Robo and go from there. I'm four episodes in and already there has been 3 on screen deaths of the prototype pilots by the robo-saurus army. what kind of a wild ride am I in for /m/?
Majin Bone
Discovered this yesterday. Based on a card game, Majin Bone is about a boy forced into fighting a group of baddies for the safety of Earth. Pretty generic idea but the designs are pretty nice. Anime is only like 3-4 years old though. Surprised I never heard about it till now. If you like toku then I'd recommend it.

Since the torrent thread doesn't open for some reason, I came to do a request. I download Kamen Rider stuff from this page http://kamenriderguide.weebly.com/
No problem until Kuuga, since I can only find the 25 episodes, and since I'm a retard, I don' know where to look for the rest of the episodes can someone help me out? Sorry for the blatant /r/ thread, though.
Why do western mech fans hate japanese mecha so much? The main argument they have is "all eastern mecha is wing zero and voltron." Obviously most of these fagboats have probably never even heard the vast majority of real robot series.
IMO Voltron Transformers and Power Rangers helped poison the well by making westerners think all japanese mecha are super robots, and gundam wing with its lack of realism put another nail on the coffin.
Go talk to any hawken or titanfall fan and they'll tell you about how eastern mechs are sooooo gay. How do we fix these faggots?
Board-tan
So we had a thread, when this board's started, about updating /m/tan's design. Months later, with the tread gone, and the dust settled, you guys want to tackle that again?
I've personally been going with this suggestion I had made, on the left, just switching the 8ch logo back to the M. I like this as it's still simple to draw, it's still similar to the original (indicating there wasn't really any rupture), it's just a custom paintjob. Doesn't feel resentful, as Punished /v/ does.
The others, which I did based on other drawfag's proposals, I feel get a bit too complex- a good board-tan is visually distinct yet simple, you know?
Anyways, /m/-tan thread. Post images you have you like, even if it's of the halfchan version. Do new art. Suggest design variations, whatever. Let's have some fun.

IT ENDS: Final Episodes of IBO
>making a new thread because old one is laggy af and final episodes deserve their own thread
I'm not going to discuss much this last episode (47) because it was just a setup for the big fight that is coming next, the "kill em all" episode that comes afterwards (hopefully), and the final-fight/resolution that comes in the last.
Having said that, the image names of these two pics is all I have to say about this episode… and the character "development" of Mika during this anime so far.
This question will become more relevant towards at the end of episode 50, but what do you think will (or want to see) happen in the next gundam series.
Kidou Senshi Gundam UC PS3
Any of you played the Gundam Unicorn PS3 game made by Fromsoft? It plays from the first three episodes of Unicorn. The gameplay is something that I've always wanted from a gundam game, where you can die as easily as the enemies. Too bad the controls can be infuriating especially the lock on system and the dodge/boost.
So any of you that has played it know any guides on it or tips on how to get good in it? Trying to get S route on the Custom Cast is bitch. Also, what does it mean when the lock on reticle turns pink when aiming at an enemy mech?
we will never get good gundam game for english readers…
Anyone remembers Valrape threads?
I'm rewriting a /m/ book and I help making a certain part be entertaining as well as realistic. I'm ok with getting two (2) answers, one entertaining and another realistic.

How would that part play out?

Looking at getting a Eva kit. I'm interested in this one, but there's to little info on the website to make me feel comfortable purchasing this. Looking just for high grade kits that look like that do in the tv show. Does anyone have a better site/kits than the link below?
This is the 03-AALIYAH from Rayelonard Corporation.
She is designed for high intensity speed and maneuver ground combat while carrying great offensive power on a mid-weight chassis. Her boosters are high powered and her arms are exceptional mobile while featuring higher than 100% energy weapon compatibility. Built to take full advantage of the new Primal Armor technology, she is difficult to disable, further aided by her advanced head component which features unquestioned reliability. Our company, with our Akvavit partners, offer efficient projectile, plasma and laser blade weaponry giving each NEXT an unparalleled edge in combat.
Tell me Lynx, why have you not chosen her as your Armored Core?
Otaking's new mech film project.
Sorry for embed, but I looked in the catalog and found this wasn't being discussed.
Dunno how you guys feel about Otaking, but I assume most of you are familiar with him from half/cuckchan /m/. Swear I'm not him shilling his new Patreon. It doesn't look like he frequents this site or board, from my assumption. If you're really normalfag you'll recognize him from the Star Wars TIE Fighter animation.
Anyways, thoughts? It doesn't look like instant classic material, but might be potentially interesting. Potentially. The "realistic" angle is a hard buy though, and the usual problems of Otaking77077's animation style are everpresent.
Would Mechs be viable in modern warefare?
Theoretical situation where we do build bipedal mechs in the near future, how would they fare againts current armored units?
Wouldn't a tank be able to incapacitate one pretty easily since mechs would have more moving joints. Compared to a tank who's enclosed in a shell of armor.
MECHWARRIOR 5 ANNOUNCED
PGI has just announced their upcoming title, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries.
>Announced at MechCon 2016, Piranha Games is taking MechWarrior back to its singleplayer roots with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Slated for a 2018 release, Piranha Games president Russ Bullock took the stage to reveal the first footage of MechWarrior 5, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 4. You can watch that demo in the video above and head over to MW5mercs.com for more info.
>Though details are scarce, what we do know is that MechWarrior 5 is a completely standalone singleplayer game being developed by Piranha Games using a separate team than the one currently supporting MechWarrior Online, its multiplayer-only CryEngine game that went into open beta in 2012. MechWarrior 5 will feature "intense PvE ‘Mech combat in an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice."
>If you're not too familiar with the series, MechWarrior is the tactical FPS offshoot of BattleTech, where players pilot a single BattleMech and issue orders to squads (called 'lances') of AI-controlled allies. Set during the Third Succession War of 3015, MechWarrior 5 puts you in the cockpit of a "green MechWarrior mercenary" caught in the conflict by factions vying to control the Inner Sphere—the region of space surrounding Earth. True to MechWarrior, pilots won't just need to prove themselves on the battlefield but will also oversee the maintenance and enhancement of their BattleMechs. Along with the emphasis on player choice, MechWarrior 5 seems to adhere closely to the traditions established by the earlier MechWarrior games.
>Aside from the demo, you can feast your eyes on the screenshots below to see what a MechWarrior game in Unreal 4 looks like. Spoiler alert: Pretty damn good. With the turn-based BattleTech strategy game coming in 2017, there's an exciting future ahead for fans of mech-on-mech combat.
>Stay tuned, as I'll be bringing more coverage of MechWarrior 5 (and BattleTech) straight from MechCon.
So, how bad do you think its gonna be?
Armored Core on PC?
So apparently some Nip is trying to port Armored Core 4 to the PC using the Unreal 4 Engine. Not sure how that's going to work out for him but here is a demo in case you are wanting to give it a go:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/k66fcb9ubyhypc7/WindowsNoEditor.zip
Only multiplayer at the moment it seems.
Where the fuck is the Gaku Sano Breakdown
back when Gaim was ending I definitely recall him breaking down and crying throughout a live performance of "Rise Up Your Flag", I found it one of his most powerful performances(disregarding the lack of backflips) and wanted to rewatch it, but apparently it's nowhere
Does anyone still have it? would much apreciate to see a crying citrus
Kamen Rider Movies and Specials
Why does it seem that none of the Kamen Rider movies or crossover specials make any sense? And what's with this constant alternate world crap? Don't the Heisei Riders exist in the same universe? Why bring em together in a nonsense plot movie that usually doesn't work timeline wise for the series with alternate world crap?
Kamen Rider Wizard
So I'm fairly new to this whole Kamen Rider thing. Only ones I've completed so far are Amazons and Wizard. Amazons was pretty great. I knew going in it would be a dramatically different Rider show. Wizard was pretty good up till the end.
I don't mean the end of the show on episode 51. I mean the last two episodes that are just crossover specials. They were quite frankly terrible. Totally incoherent and dumb. The Magic Land movie was way better than those episodes. Really brought down my enjoyment of Wizard. Unfortunately can't even watch the movie special with Gaim that seems to really tie up the Wizard story. Kissasian only has it with Engrish subs.
I'm currently watching Gaim and loving it. Thought I'd make a thread on Wizard since it doesn't seem like it's talked about a lot. Discuss the show in it's entirety.
/m/ makes a... light novel?
/m/8s, I want to make a good /m/ story. Open for suggestions, I won't be doing an anime though, saving that money for other anime series I'll be making. Anyways… TL;DR:
>real mecha
I have most of the physics and engineering part done.
>setting
"Around" this time, somewhere in the USA (maybe Texas because they're always bluffing about seceding and have the infrastructure to put a fight).
>characters
The "main" characters will be around our age (to appeal to oldfags, again, this is a free project); might put a loli newtype for the lulz;
>plot
civil war vs terrorism vs shekels? I want to make it redpilled rather than "redpilled"
>medium (what I need help with)
I can do a light novel, but is there something more fun? Again, I can't draw and I'm saving shekels to do my animes later in the future.
>FINAL NOTE
I will not be begging for shekels (patreon, etc) because I'm just testing how accurate does the physics and engineering have to be without boring the audience… or getting in trouble for writing a nuclear weapon manual.
Did I missed anything else in this introduction?
Will listen to /m/ and /pol/ (won't be posting there though)
Patlabor Reboot
http://animatorexpo.com/theater/
http://www.patlabor-reboot.jp/
really creative name there. it's being shown alongside re-screenings of other works from Japan's Animator Expo in October, so I'm guessing it's a one-shot short film.
Familiar names in the staff list include Hideaki Anno as a producer, Kenji Kawai as the composer, and Kazunori Ito working on the script. Of course, Yutaka Izubuchi is on mechanical design.
New names are Naoyuki Asano as the character designer and animation director, and Yasuhiro Yoshiura as the director and scriptwriter. Not sure what Asano has worked on, but Yoshiura is the creator of Patema Inverted.
Koichi Yamadera and Megumi Hayashibara are listed in the cast.

I think they want to ignore everything about the live-action series right now lmao
Are there any good /m/-related shows/movies/games/comics/anything coming out soon?
I've absolutely blown through my backlog off things I wanted to watch/play/read over the past few years and now I'm just starved for something. I mean, there are always kits, but those take awhile and they're not something you can do daily. They're also expensive as all hell.

What are your favourite mecha control schemes and how practical are they for controlling a gigantic, humanoid machine?
My personal favourite is the system used in Escaflowne's guymelefs, since it combines the advantages of motion capture with an aesthetically-pleasing mechanical system.
OGMD translation probably going to be shit
Beach Dwellers came with English subtitles so I took a look at them.
The English grammar is odd at points, the translator can't handle Japanese grammar, there are obvious major mistranslations (race/species referring to how there are elves and mermen and shit running around becomes "tribe", the fucking FRONTIER becomes "reclaimed land", Haken talking about Sanger becomes a line where he suddenly babbles nonsense about "old war comrades and farewells", etc.), there are some FUCKING WEIRD translation decisions (Haken calls Sanger "Mister Samurai", this is "translated" to "samurai-san"), and the translator has no fucking idea about the source material (the Fushizakura/Undying Sakura is referred to in plural, Neige is referred to as a "fairy" instead of as an elf).
So yeah, if OGMD is handled by the same people, you can expect it to be garbage.
Mecha Plot
Make a plot for a Mecha show
>I know there is a similar thread already but I want a thread that concentrates on the story and physics
Make sure it has the following:
- A main character mecha
- deus ex machina Physics particles
- death
- bonus if it manages to have comedy or be wacky like Zambot 3
(pic related)
What makes a mecha plot great?
>Discuss what plot aspects makes a mecha show great
Personally I like mecha shows that details the physics and engineering of the mechas. That along with kill em all endings makes the show memorable.
Favorite MS weapons?
mine is the Rick Dias clay bazooka, this thing turns me on for some reason, the hyper bazookas look great too and dont even get me started on the atomic bazooka, that thing is the reason my first goal in gundam breaker 2 was to build the physalis. Bazookas in gundam are just sexy in general but not the GN bazooka, that thing should not even be called a bazooka, its just a particle cannon.

Why?
/m/, how the hell is mecha not popular in the west?
The genre in general has got all the makings of a successful property over here in the states
>tons of things to sell as merch, and is in fact sold out the ass, in japan at least
>Typically young MCs that get to pilot giant robot war machines, easy to self-insert for the kiddes
>Enough iterations to keep in syndication for years
So why is it largely unsuccessful and ignored in the west, by prospective distributors and consumers alike?
Toku night: The Return

Old timer here...wtf is Demonbane?
Can someone just sum this up for me? I started getting into mecha again, watching good ol'clips of Shin Getter and GGG but in comments I see people talking about Demonbane this Demobane that. People are saying its the best mech ever.
Is the anime actually good or is it simply like Naruto/DBZ where its something with inflated destructive levels in its respective universe?
I could go into GaoGaiGar, Shin Getter and even TTGL because I enjoyed the shows enough but is Demonbane something that's enjoyable for a mecha fan?
