What are your favourite mecha control schemes and how practical are they for controlling a gigantic, humanoid machine?
My personal favourite is the system used in Escaflowne's guymelefs, since it combines the advantages of motion capture with an aesthetically-pleasing mechanical system.

in anime:
G Gundam's Mobile Trace system seems the most practical, but also the least possible.
more traditional Gundam cockpits look cool but they don't seem to be consistent in function
in games:
Virtual-On and Gundam EXVS control schemes are fun to use, but wouldn't exactly be practical for actually controlling a large mech,

I liked the control system in the Jaegers.
I've had a thing for mechs with multiple pilots ever since Power Rangers, so this was a cool twist on that concept.

Fictionwise, i rather like control scheme for warhammer 40k titans, because it implies controlling a titan is like controlling a really complex land based warship.
Game wise, virtual on and mechwarrior control scheme.
