Eh, it's really not a good movie.
The robot itself looks like a jury rigged piece of shit and the plot really isn't great.
Not to mention that Neill Blomkamp also directed a short film with a robot that looked similar to Chappie called Tetra Vaal, pic related.

Chappie is one of my favourite comedy movies. People who take it seriously are doing it wrong.
I went to see it at the cinema with my GF and we still quote it now, because it was dumb and fun. The biggest problem is the BIG FIGHT ending and how that is all they advertised it with instead of a fun movie laughing at Die Antwood being retarded.
