Just a few weeks ago the board was picking back up in popularity, now it seemed to have dropped off again. There haven't been any posts in the last two days.
I get this board is slow - I've been here long enough to know that - but the current speed is painful.
Is there anything we could do to speed it up a bit that doesn't involve calling in users from other boards?

If we want more activity advertising to other boards is the best bet. If you don't want to do that you have to drum up activity in other ways. Posting a lot in threads, bringing up discussion, and other things. A big problem is that we as a board are a niche within a niche that is subject to the season. If it's a bad season with little to no mecha anime/media in sight new conversation is going to come up dry. Tokusatsu is more consistent with new stuff but most folk prefer the Mecha side of /m/ over the Toku side.
If anything we can just try to make as many new threads about as many different topics as possible and just see what grabs people's interest. Though that can get spammy as fuck. Gotta be the change you want to see, OP.

Well, the topics people seem most interested on this board are image dumps, gunpla and lewd bots.
I would recommend maybe creating an all-out porn dump thread but we already have a couple threads for more NSFW stuff. Besides, /clang/ exists so it would be a bit redundant to upload images that are probably already there.
Video game threads are also pretty popular, though I can't think any anything that doesn't already have a thread.

Other than the Patlabor releases we got a few years back, nothing else mecha wise has really jumped out and held my attention. That does help too but one thing a post here ITT every time you visit thread can do is let users who are already lurking that others are lurking too. Also gets some anons who otherwise might not post (they are too new to mecha or the board itself or just extremely shy etc) it can get them to post since it lowers the bar to posting since they don't exactly have to talk about /m/ stuff. Of course this then falls on the board to moderate the thread to keep sure it stays on /m/ related topics and gos back on topic from time to time.
Have you guys been making any threads for the new shows each season? Even if you don't like a show with /m/ content it helps to have a thread up for it so you can at least discuss the whys of not liking it. Found this out on /u/ with NTR Trap having a decently active thread despite the board not liking it due to the afformentioned NTR.
