Why do you think that mecha seems to fail so horribly in the west? In the Early 2000s they made Megas XLR. The writing was fun, and it helped alleviate the low budget animation. It still got canned despite being decently popular.
Then years later Sym-bionic titan came along. It had actually good animation and it was a pretty good, if vanilla, super robot show. It also got canned despite having a decent viewership and it got even less episodes than Megas, which ended with the series being rushed towards a conclusion.
Then we have Pacific Rim, which also was decent, but it got panned critically, and people hated it for reason ranging from "not being realistic" to "being dumb".
Why do you think the genre just doesn't stick in the west despite other cartoons being made with clear anime genres influence?

Got any figures on merch sales? If it does decently but doesn't sell toys or other merch, then the plug will be pulled sooner rather than later.
As with Pacific Rim, it's getting a sequel. So it didn't do as badly as your trying to make it out to be.

More of an overall genre reference than a specific one, but in Dexter there is a time they go to Japan and have to fight a Toho style monster using a giant robot made out of 4 color coded vehicles. Well each "failed" western series seems to have their own story.
Megas XLR was doing great, and was even breaking ratings records till CN started moving it around. http://georgekrstic.blogspot.com/2010/04/megas-faq-anniversary-edition.html
>Truth be told, CN shut us down, and not the other way around as some fans have conjectured. As to why, the new brass didn't feel that we were speaking to the audience they were interested in reaching, even though we were actually breaking records - until they started moving us around.
>Not sure if they ever did find that demo they were hunting for…maybe those live-action series did it for them?
Sym-Bionic Titan was apparently fucked before it began.
>Cartoon Network bought into the show for one reason, and when they got it, their mind changed on what they wanted the show to be. I sold it as an action show combined with a John Hughes comedy. Teenage issues and characters with amazing action, and that’s what they bought. But as we started making it, they were making Ben 10 and Generator Rex, and they wanted it to be that. And there was no way I was going to make that type of show. So they didn’t really push or support the show, we didn’t get a toy license, and that was it. It didn’t get numbers because they didn’t promote it the right way, and we didn’t get the audience that we really needed.
http://www.wired.com/2012/10/hotel-transylvania-genndy-tartakovsky/
The toy thing really seemed to bite them in the ass.
>Titan got competitive ratings with other action shows, but what shut it down was it didn’t have enough toys connected to it. If you don’t have the [toy sales], the studios don’t want to renew for another season.”
Pacific Rim, I don't have source for, but the rumors are that WB didn't give the show a big marketing push and wanted it to fail as a "fuck you" to Legendary.
I don't know why shows like Exosquad, and Big Guy got canned though. It does seem that it's less of a problem with audiences than it is audiences though.

Do you mean producers for the second part? And Megas could be genuinely funny even if you didn't care for that style of robot, so of course it would do well.

Legendary and WB seemed to be going through a tiff at the time, that is likely the source of that rumor.

Also Real Robot could work in the west CN used to have Star Wars the Clone Wars air and that show dealt with war drama and also had mass death on screen.

It could be done, it just isn't likely for an original IP. People forget that mechs function a lot like how people handled laser blasts in SW which is make death very clean.
The reasons it won't be done is because it would be risky, and corporate fucks that would be needed to fund it would never get behind it. They are more about dumbing shit down and keeping things as safe as possible. You would have to do what Tomino did, or prove there was an audience before hand, to get backers.

Because western normies associate all mechs with Power Rangers and Transformers which are marketed at kids.
