Why do western mech fans hate japanese mecha so much? The main argument they have is "all eastern mecha is wing zero and voltron." Obviously most of these fagboats have probably never even heard the vast majority of real robot series.
IMO Voltron Transformers and Power Rangers helped poison the well by making westerners think all japanese mecha are super robots, and gundam wing with its lack of realism put another nail on the coffin.
Go talk to any hawken or titanfall fan and they'll tell you about how eastern mechs are sooooo gay. How do we fix these faggots?

It's not that we westerners hate mecha. It's that kikes hate action cartoons with serious effort and cost put into it.

Too much grimpderp, edgy and depressing shit, especially in shows like most Gundams. The Zeon fetishism is annoying as fuck too.
Too much Japanese glorification in some others where either the important characters are all Japanese or Japan wins everything on its own, and foreigners tend to be either absent or insulting stereotypical caricatures.

Real robot fag here, can't say I hate super shows but what kills a series for me is when it can't make up its mind which it wants to be. Newer gundam series are guilty of this which is why i've been completely uninterested in them.
I get that most mech shows are for kids but they back slide into shonen shit power level battles and muh suffering way too much.
Just give me Armored Core: the anime or something like Vanquish where the mechs aren't 5 stories tall.

That's my point with wing. super robots are fine in a super robot setting, but putting super robots in a real robot setting is breaks my suspension of disbelief. For example the Force is fine in Star Wars, but would look retarded as shit in a movie like Interstellar or Alien. Like wise, I get annoyed with shit like the end of unicorn where the new type powers are basically just super saiyan. It wasn't so bad at the end of CCA since it was the culmination of a duel between semi-legendary heroes who the entire franchise was so far built around, but unicorn was just overdoing it

nerds dig the bad guys
Klingons, heel wrestlers, Galactic Empire, Zeon, whatever. Villains are fun characters to enjoy in fictional media. Char, Dukat, Raoh, there's lots of bad guys that get a following.
I remember hearing something about one of the OVA's Seig Zeon chant was a recording of the crowd at some Gundam event

They do not Respect the Robot.
If you had mentioned the Battlekek Crowd you would have a nice thread on our hands cause it comes down to "Big Stompy Robots" vs "Mecha Ninjas on Speed"
I'm personally a fan of the former since I prefer my Mechs having some weight to them which makes them far more intimidating and gives them more of a sense of raw power.
Also the thing that ruins most Mecha is the overabundance of Gundam, i.e. nobody wants to talk about anything outside of Gundam since Gundam is the only shit they know about. Beware these heretics, for they do not Respect the Robot!

>Japs poisoned the well with their own bullshit shows
>These fagboats are just ignorant to the really good mecha robot series!
I judge each show on it's own merits usually, some of the older Gundam series are pretty good and enjoyable.
But even you have to admit it's 90% DBZ tier dogshit looking fights, with ladyboy pilots whom just seem to be unstoppable killing machines at the ripe old age of 12, who stomp better trained full grown men between their introspective cry sessions.
Hard not to judge japanese mecha by the majority of japanese mecha.
If you had a real suggestion though, you forgot to put it in your post.

>even though all other shit they like not involving mecha has even more fantasy involved.
Citation needed cock gobbler.
Though I would not expect an anime fan to understand the need to keep hardcore fantasy shit separate from realism in shows or games since every anime can't resist adding in some stupid fantasy element when it's not needed.
Oh, cool underground rebellion with strategy and thinking?
Add in magic powers and make everyone progressively dress more like k-pop stars as it goes on, and make the simple mechs turn into dancing fairy robots with as many pointed edges as you can fit on them.

Well to be fair the UC has a lot to talk about, especially seeing as installments like Origin focus on lore building. A lot of robot series aren't terribly expanse, but the UC is the type of thing you could play GURPS or DnD in

>Giant Gorg
Adventure story about a group uncovering the mysteries of an island with the help of a vaguely sentient mech. Opposing them are a PMC in the service of a multinational corporation and the various oddities of the island itself.
>Patlabor
A bunch of stories about giant robot police. What exactly takes place in those stories varies a lot between episodes but it generally keeps an upbeat tone.
>Dai-Guard
Office workers saving the world. Notable for the emphasis it puts on how expensive a giant robot would actually be.
>Madox
Short movie about a guy who ends up stuck in a suit of power armour and on the run. Light on plot but good action.
>Getter Robo
What are you doing on /m/ if you don't know what Getter Robo is?
