I must say, that Eureka Seven was a fantastic show! The world-building is top notch with a definite focus on "show, don't tell." The main characters punk/hip hop vibe contrasting against a militaristic society work incredibly well. Despite being a "love conquers all" story, it really hits the themes of a coming of age story hard and precise. I'm not sure why everyone feels so blasé about it, it certainly deserves a top spot.

I can't really understand how anyone can love it. It felt like Naruto with mechs at first, and later it became a forced childish drama. I don't think I disliked any other pre-2010 mecha show as much as this one.

>The world-building is top notch with a definite focus on "show, don't tell."

Is it? It felt like a mess with a lot of holes even though the anime does not shows that much.

The only good things about E7 for me are its mech designs and the OST.

I liked E7 Ao more, and I'm not shitposting.

I'm watching it right now for the first time, just four episodes in, undecided on what to make of it overall, but Renton is such a useless shit that he makes me never want to see another teenager.

No, an opinion that is clearly put forth just to stir a pot is bait.

I agree, but my post was not like that.

If anything, I wanted someone explain to me why I could be wrong and what is actually good about the show.

One of the strongest aspects of the show is his growth. He is supposed to be an irritating kid. The world shape him and help him become more mature.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Naruto content. The mecha were secondary and were not used much so that special modes and attacks didn't have time to wear the audience out. Naruto did not have an endpoint it was gunning for, whereas this felt from about episode 5 like it had a definite end point it was going for. It had a very positive feeling about it even at its darkest times.

>I'm not sure what you mean by the Naruto content

It's about the main character. A simply bland and uninteresting butt-monkey. Renton's even worse, though. He is annoying and not enjoyable to watch at all. Maybe that is the point and I don't understand something? Though it's not like you can't make an annoying AND interesting character. He barely felt like a character, it's like whenever he has done something significant it was because the plot demanded so, and not because doing so could be a part of his actual character.

>The mecha were secondary and were not used much so that special modes and attacks didn't have time to wear the audience out.

Instead the show worn me out with poorly written interactions and meaningless episodes that don't even expand the lore or the characters properly.

>It had a very positive feeling about it even at its darkest times.

It would be good if these weren't feeling so forced.
