Can't disagree too much. I love the original series, warts and all, but Zeta feels like it drags on too long, with no clear goal in sight. White Base had an objective; get to Jaburo. The AEUG seemed to be drifting from episode to episode without doing anything more than getting into a few skirmishes most of the time (The Jaburo invasion being a rare exception when the series shines).
ZZ is bad for the first 20 episodes, saved only by the characters, then starts to be decent while they're on Earth, but falls apart again with a poorly executed finale. I like the mecha designs and for some reason I can't bring myself to dislike it, but neither can I give it much of a recommendation.
I hated Char's Counterattack the first time I saw it, thinking it an exaggerated summary of the stupid parts of Gundam, with more kid pilots and newtype magic at the end. Then when I rewatched it a year later, I came to love it for some reason, embracing those parts I disliked.
Nobody human could dislike War in the Pocket.
Solid taste. Now hurry up and get to F91.
