We seriously need more people here. Fuck, even /suicide/ has more users than us. Seriously what happened? This place used to be pretty active during the exodus.

Well what is there to talk about? Most anons here only know about one or two Mecha series and even then barely know much about it. No discussion is happening cause nobody has anything to discuss.

Then we could at least start to introduce more of the others to our board. I feel like the lack of people on /m/ is due to no one even realising we exist. Hell even the Mecha board on /v/ has a ton of people replying to it. /m/ right now is around 140 boards down on the board list. We really need more exposure.

mecha itself has lost a lot of its popularity, 80s and 90s were the heyday.

you want to bring in people? let's have a running stream (on cytube or somesuch), maybe someone can spring for an ad, I'll make some meem images to spam on other boards

If discussion is so dead, how could you know that?

That's such a bullshit overly broad statement. I'm sure in the one post a day, you get plenty of information of what the three people here know about mecha.

No discussion is happening because there are three people on this board, and two of the people spend the whole time telling the third guy the threads he is making doesn't belong on this board. We are lucky to get or two posts and day, and yet people think they have room to do nothing but shitpost.

I've been thinking about doing a weekly group watch thing again maybe starting in July.

Last time I did one it worked okay. Each week I'd cycle in 2 eps of Dougram, 1 of Dagwon, 1 of Voltes. I put them up on a synchtube and left it going as a loop through the week so people (me) could catch it any time.

All I know is I definitely want to go through Supaidaman for one of the titles, and I'm not interested in bleak beige landscapes. After Dougram I've had my fill of them for a while.

Well to go with the name-fagging, I also have a tenancy to be rather obnoxious if I get going, but that's pretty much the same for any social retard who uses the chans.

For instance, I got rather annoying over on 4/m/ when I got back into Gunpla, but that's because my social life does not exist and anything that gets me doing ANYTHING is an improvement.

I also am known as the smut poster NiceDaemonette, but it's mostly the fact that I identify myself that seems to piss salty "AN-ON-O-MASS" off, even though name-fagging allows them to selectively filter me in the first place.

8/u/ here. We try to create content of our own and post it elsewhere so we don't end up recycling content from 4chan. We've got scanners, cleaners, typesetters, streamers, translators, some drawfags, etc. Some guys create memes and webms. Others dump and post the latest Yuri manga. The manga and doujinshi we post to exhentai and dynasty has gotten tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of views per release.

Basically my suggestion is to try and create your own content and find ways to keep people coming back to the board by constantly introducing new things to talk about and do. There are lots of online mecha games that you can host via port forwarding so you guys could do a game thread in addition to streams.

There are tons of mecha shows that are of a high quality so it should be very possible to get people interested.

Also I'd suggest you make a general post here everyday type thread. Good way to get all the posters who are in separate threads together into a single thread and get them posting content back and forth and talking to one another instead of just posting to a single thread with one user.

Yep, probably the original article even…

See, the idea was to channel my smut-driven 40k stuff all onto that persona to keep it easily contained and filterable.

>You really are hated everywhere, huh?

Surprisingly, no.

While my Whiteagle name is pretty inconspicuous for the most part, NiceDaemonette is strangely rather warmly received when I'm able to pop back onto 4/tg/.

Mind you there is the usual anti-namefag vitriol, as well as an anti-smut crusader turned 4chan Moderator with a personal vendetta constantly slapping a one month global ban for "Ban Evasion" on me, but notably other anon will actually come to my defense.

Last time I started a group watch with Supaidaaman it was also Vifam, Dragonar, tail end of Dagwon, L-Gaim, Winspector, Getter TV, and Vifam, rotating in one episode each week

Probably just going to drop L-Gaim unless somebody can vouch that it moves to a non-beige setting.

Polite sage for posting again.

L-gaim has steep power creep and gets interesting later on. IIRC they leave desert planet for jungle planet, then have a space arc with some cool asteroid episodes (one mining center one city), then wrap up in a small city/space arc.

It's a pretty standard Tomino show. A gundam with Nagano designs more or less.

Yeah my basic plan was to continue like I've been doing so far since the x/m/as stream.

Harvest from existing youtubes when possible, and then for the remaining titles put them split in half at the eyecatch on burner youtube accounts of mine and then dailymotion as the last resort.

I don't want to do the google drives userscript because asking people to get pozzed just to watch some old cartoons is a leap too far for most.

I'll do that for Keroro since that's as much a DDL link pile as a way to watch, but if I'm looking to get any eyes on it "install this thing then install this script" is a nonstarter for most people.

I've gotten a bit into L-Gaim and it seems pretty much up my alley.

I'm not quite sure if gravity is different there like Barsoom or if it's just really cartoony about jumps.

Also I wasn't looking at Dougram because I went through that on the last group watch. These are as much about me watching something I haven't seen all the way through or seen recently as they are about anybody else lol.

If y'all want to do some gaming thing that's up to y'all. The only gaming I get in is sporadic WoW because I'm a massive pleb on an old refurb laptop.

I'm looking to set this up as a synchtube rather than a live feed type thing, anyway.

over on https://cytu.be/r/mog-2 I've thrown up one of the playlists from the last time I was trying this, minus a few dead links to give an idea of how this would look from where I'm standing

the basic theory is to leave a 3-ish hour block running in a loop through the week

Previously I've tried to rotate in the new content at the same time, Sunday 3p Eastern and Saturday night Eastern after the live Japanese shows.

I've probably got too much irl crap going on to reliably hit specific times, even when I managed to get them up at the right time I usually wasn't able to catch the shows until later in the week.

As the weeks progressed I'd rotate in one week and rotate out a week so that it would be (as an example)

Week 1 content

then

Week 1 content

Week 2 content

then

Week 2 content

Week 3 content

not sure about Gundam

I had budgeted rewatching Gundam for the nice HD copies of it, but a buddy's been mentioning watching Zeta so it might be something to keep in mind.

Same here, I've actually purchased a couple Dragonar kits but haven't seen the series. AFAIK, it's not been completely subbed.

That said, it shouldn't be too tough to watch raw or with poor subs. I've heard it's basically a clone of 0079.

At least lurk for a little bit before coming here and acting like a colossal fucking newfag, however many years you might have had on 4chan means nothing to us. If you're not a newfag fresh off the board from 4chan then it's even worse, because it means you're always like this.

There are two main reasons /m/ is so slow. The biggest is because there simply aren't enough users on 8chan who care about mecha. Our site is a lot smaller than you probably think, our most popular board only has 2,700 regular users. At our peak /m/ only had 30 or so people posting regularly.

The second reason is because of the complete drought of good mecha content in the past few years, there's nothing to discuss. When IBO aired we had a few active threads for it, when that IRL mecha fight happened a few months ago we shot up to several hundred posts an hour, when the fight ended we shot back down to our usual speed; we have tiny pockets of activity every few months when something happens. That's not enough to sustain a board in the long-term.

As said by anons on this thread, other weeb boards have streams that help generate activity and bring in people. And here we are on a board with several threads on it's front page that over a year old.

Perhaps participating in 8cup 4 might also help people know this board exists if you really don't want a stream.

It's unfortunately over /m/ates, we can only go back to the good old times nowadays. Beyond SRW T and Daemon X Machina, no new good releases exist or any /m/ releases that aren't on mobile exist anymore. /m/ vidya were already rare as heck back in the day as well but now, it's unbearable.

I'd say go revisit some of the classics, like Natsume's tokusatsu series, even their Gameboy colour Power Ranger ones. Their Lightspeed Rescue game is great for its time. Or you could try some more covert /m/ classics that go un-noticed, like Burning Rangers.

I miss the PSP days when we could get a constant stream of /m/ goodness.

>How is 8ch's /m/ so shit?

It has really low activity, but it's far from shit. We don't get shitposters, tripfags or other cancer here because we don't get anyone at all

Still, why it is not "good":

1. Low activity. Aside from probably a few anons and the BO, people who pass by here don't stay for long. Some people could propeely get into mecha/toku if they: 1) knew there is a board for this 2) saw that it's active, so any questions like "recommend me X" or "where do I start with Y" wouldn't be left unanswered for weeks.

2. It's just that, probably because of 1. (or because they don't realize that there is a mecha board on fullchan), people prefer to discuss mecha and toku-related

(by the way tokusatsu has it even worse) stuff on more active boards like /v/ (with its alternatives like /vg/ and /v8/), /a/ (or /animu/) and even /clang/ or /robowaifu/. It's not bad, especially with the latter two (those are very thematic and gather unique content and discussions that would not exactly be active on /m/ under most circumstances), it's just that some of those discussions could happen to thrive there, not pushed aside by the non-mecha threads. Mecha discussion is simply decentralised on fullchan because it would take some effort to advertise this site to the right people without being annoying.

3. Cuckchan's /m/ never got affected by the latest US elections, goon/shill influx and admin change as radically as the most of the other boards got, so there weren't many refugees from 4/m/ to 8/m/. Though the average post quality got worse, so is the average poster.

4. BO is not really interested in having this board active because the 4/m/ still works.

Overall, I think that 4/m/ is not that better than the fucking dead 8/m/. While sometimes something interesting may be going on there, the average post quality is absolutely awful, as your average poster is, well, a cuckchanner, the type that may come from reddit, and the /a/ faggots, realismniggers and dedicated shitposters which spam same forced memes and shit threads don't make the place any better. And don't make me start on one-line nigger-made OPs with grammatical and punctuation errors, bait threads, reddit spacing in every second post and non-clang fetish posting.

I haven't been there for a while, but, as I checked it now, nothing changed,

Also there are the general problems with cuckchan, like it, being a FBI honeypot, banning some countries from posting and banning proxy/vpn exit nodes. Some people would have to buy a paid vpn subscription or a fucking cuckchan pass if they wanted to make a few posts on an imageboard full of neurotypicals with double digit IQ before being engulfed by despair and disappointment. Nuances like these automatically make anything related with cuckchan worse.

My point is that least 8/m/ still could get active without such cancer.

I've said it before and I'll say it again to the reee of everyone left here.

/m/ is an oldfag board by nature. It was always a chilled board with little rules beyond it had to be mechanical, trains, planes, tanks, whatever was fine. So the people who liked old /m/ also like old anon culture. When the Board is owned by a guy who tripfagged for years on cuckchan and half the posts have names or trips attached to them oldfags will not come here.

I am as /m/ as it can get. I was on 4/m/ the day it was made and I've been a mecha fan for near two decades now. But I won't use this board because it's full of cancer, the same cancer I stopped going to 4/cuck/ before long before any exoduses (00 and Code Geass were the last straw). I remember it exists once a year and drop in. Go "oh yea, still owned by a tripfag, still dead" and leave. It's like /tg/, I won't use it because it's full of fags jerking off to 40k from the old 4/b/ threads or playing pozzed to shit larpy games about being a shitty bisexual elf.

If you want old /m/ to return you need an environment like old /m/. It needs to lose the name fagging, the trip fagging and the waifu bait.

Five steps to revive /m/

>1, remove BO. Get an anon BO or one who isn't a hated tripfag from 4cuck

>2, advertise on /b2/ and the mecha threads on the vidya boards, which are active and popular

>3, announce film nights on other suitable boards. Do weekly discussions threads, give people a fixed movie night to meet on cytube and watch new and old stuff together like /a/ does. Advertise this else where.

>4, forced anon. No trips, no names, no avatar faggotry. That's all cancer

>5, promote Gunpla and get people to post their projects. Gunpla pulls in people who don't like anime but like model kits, a second source of people

>Bonus step. Viral yourself where suitable on other boards.

You still have to deal with the fact that all modern mecha is almost unwatchable as is toku. But that doesn't make an unwinnable battle. You just have to ban any waifu faggotry, the yaoi fangirls all over toku and any one attention seeking.

I'd rather the board exist under its own power than have me force a bunch of things on people. I generally try to be pretty hands-off about "the community" for this board. If there's a The Community that wants to do stuff they can go ahead and do it.

If your stream is that nifty it'll get traffic regardless of if it's "The Guy Who Deletes Spam on 8/m/ Presents Some Cartoons" as opposed to "One Of The Three Guys Who Posts On 8/m/ Presents Some Cartoons".

given the dearth of traffic I've seen on the channels I mostly run for myself it's clearly not a seal of approval that will put asses in the seats, lol

If you want weekly discussions make weekly discussions. It's just posting on an image board, it shouldn't need an executive committee. If you want more gunpla action post more gunpla action.

"be the change you want to see" may be a cliche but it really does seem to have some merit in shaping your neck of the onlines.

unfortunately us monkeys are basically dumb and only do what we see other monkeys do, that's a lesson I learned many times on WoW. you can patiently explain "hey guys let's go kill that thing" all you want but you get a lot further hopping up and down while killing the thing and people just start following your lead

I can start posting anon in some of the threads to help out, too but even if you prime the pump the horse may not drink, to mix metaphors.

even 4/m/ ends up pretty slow from what I've heard normal chan standards are, and there's places even slower than here like the current mechachan goes

even futaba and some of the lesser moonchans of this sort of material can run pretty slow

Because everyone hates /m/ fags?

Do you not understand that being complete spergs wherever you go, shitting up absolutely everything you don't like and acting in general like complete niggers gives you a completely poisoned reputation? The way you fags acted on /animu/ alone is justification to burn your board to the ground if only you faggots were even worth it.

/m/ is dead because the users of /m/ made enemies of every other board and then chased away all the anons that would make OC for them.

>Because everyone hates /m/ fags?

You are assuming too much. I doubt that your average poster is even aware that "/m/ fags" exist.

>The way you fags acted on /animu/ alone

Elaborate. Give an archive link, if you would.

I have been checking /animu/ weekly for at least a year and never saw a single thread or a post there that would make you say something like that. Yes, I may haven't checked every non-mecha related thread and I definitely wouldn't read every post and remember them all, but I would not miss a /m/-related shitstorm caused by someone's atrocious actions like the ones you described. Same for /vg/, /v/ and even /a/. Though /a/ had a "why normalfags hate mecha?" thread that is on one if the last pages right now, its contents do not fit your "/m/ fags shitting up absolutely everything they don't like and acting in general like complete niggers" description.

Also some "fags" that made you angry somewhere don't represent the entire board.

>the users of /m/ made enemies of every other board

We'd have a lot of negative or passive-aggressive posts here if that was true. I never even saw anyone post that they hate mecha genre/aesthetics or the people who like it because of negative behaviour of the latter. People usually dislike mecha because it's "not realistic" or silly.

>then chased away all the anons that would make OC for them

If you actually skimmed through the upper part of the board catalog, you'd see that every OC that anons posted here was well-received. If anything chased creative posters away, it's the lack of board activity.

It's a good time to get into mecha. There's a lot of backlog in regards to mecha and tokusatsu stuff.

You can ease in with Super Robot stuff like G. Gundam and Gurren lagann, then work your way to the other Gunam series and even shows like Macross, Eureka 7 and Mazinger.

You can also get into Tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider , Ultra Man and even Garo. Garo aside from the live action has gotten anime adaptaions and SSSS. Gridman is a cool anime based off the Ultra series.

You can also get into the Gunpla hobby and build Gundam models. There's even Gundam Build Fighters anime series that centers around Gundam models.

>SSSS. Gridman is a cool anime based off the Ultra series.

You fool. You utter ignoramous. The anime is based on the 1993 tokusatsu. The original 1993 live action tokusatsu is made by Tsuburaya Productions BUT is in no way related to Ultraman.

OC is the lifeblood of the board. This means drawfags and translators.

If anons came and start threads to translate mecha/toku videogames and manga, there'd be more activity.

If anons have an idea and want to create a tabletop project involving mechs, they are free to do so here.

If anons want to discuss mecha games here, nothing's stopping them.

If anons want to make threads for Gunpla and other model mechs, they're encouraged to do so.

If there are anons that want to do anime and toku streams, they might as well go ahead.

What anons should also do is let everyone on this site that this board exists and give them reasons to come.

>You can also get into the Gunpla hobby and build Gundam models. There's even Gundam Build Fighters anime series that centers around Gundam models.

Hm, I do like Nobel Gundam for completely wholesome reasons. Good idea.

We should play mecha games.

It will get easier once people start having their own personal mechs.

We should always play more mecha games. Getting back to Gundam Breaker 2/3 should be good.

That's not a mech, she's giving him a piggyback ride.

Do you have to be entirely enclosed inside for it to be a mech?

Or maybe just partially, like the robonoid from Conan, which I consider a mech, perhaps wrongly.
