We're pretty close to 20,000. From my very rough calculations, something close to 99.2% of all boards never make it that far.

It's unfortunately over /m/ates, we can only go back to the good old times nowadays. Beyond SRW T and Daemon X Machina, no new good releases exist or any /m/ releases that aren't on mobile exist anymore. /m/ vidya were already rare as heck back in the day as well but now, it's unbearable.
I'd say go revisit some of the classics, like Natsume's tokusatsu series, even their Gameboy colour Power Ranger ones. Their Lightspeed Rescue game is great for its time. Or you could try some more covert /m/ classics that go un-noticed, like Burning Rangers.
I miss the PSP days when we could get a constant stream of /m/ goodness.

Heh, I usually only use 8ch to check /agdg/ and mostly just post on 4chan's /m/ board. How is 8ch's /m/ so shit? 4chan's is full of shitposting but at least we actually know about and have watched most mecha.

>How is 8ch's /m/ so shit?
It has really low activity, but it's far from shit. We don't get shitposters, tripfags or other cancer here because we don't get anyone at all
Still, why it is not "good":
1. Low activity. Aside from probably a few anons and the BO, people who pass by here don't stay for long. Some people could propeely get into mecha/toku if they: 1) knew there is a board for this 2) saw that it's active, so any questions like "recommend me X" or "where do I start with Y" wouldn't be left unanswered for weeks.
2. It's just that, probably because of 1. (or because they don't realize that there is a mecha board on fullchan), people prefer to discuss mecha and toku-related
(by the way tokusatsu has it even worse) stuff on more active boards like /v/ (with its alternatives like /vg/ and /v8/), /a/ (or /animu/) and even /clang/ or /robowaifu/. It's not bad, especially with the latter two (those are very thematic and gather unique content and discussions that would not exactly be active on /m/ under most circumstances), it's just that some of those discussions could happen to thrive there, not pushed aside by the non-mecha threads. Mecha discussion is simply decentralised on fullchan because it would take some effort to advertise this site to the right people without being annoying.
3. Cuckchan's /m/ never got affected by the latest US elections, goon/shill influx and admin change as radically as the most of the other boards got, so there weren't many refugees from 4/m/ to 8/m/. Though the average post quality got worse, so is the average poster.
4. BO is not really interested in having this board active because the 4/m/ still works.
Overall, I think that 4/m/ is not that better than the fucking dead 8/m/. While sometimes something interesting may be going on there, the average post quality is absolutely awful, as your average poster is, well, a cuckchanner, the type that may come from reddit, and the /a/ faggots, realismniggers and dedicated shitposters which spam same forced memes and shit threads don't make the place any better. And don't make me start on one-line nigger-made OPs with grammatical and punctuation errors, bait threads, reddit spacing in every second post and non-clang fetish posting.
I haven't been there for a while, but, as I checked it now, nothing changed,
Also there are the general problems with cuckchan, like it, being a FBI honeypot, banning some countries from posting and banning proxy/vpn exit nodes. Some people would have to buy a paid vpn subscription or a fucking cuckchan pass if they wanted to make a few posts on an imageboard full of neurotypicals with double digit IQ before being engulfed by despair and disappointment. Nuances like these automatically make anything related with cuckchan worse.
My point is that least 8/m/ still could get active without such cancer.

That could be easily fixed by doing a group watch. All that's needed for an active conversation is two people with overlapping areas of interest. For example, I'd gladly watch something like Starzinger or Submarine Super 99 if I had anyone to discuss them with afterwards.

I've said it before and I'll say it again to the reee of everyone left here.
/m/ is an oldfag board by nature. It was always a chilled board with little rules beyond it had to be mechanical, trains, planes, tanks, whatever was fine. So the people who liked old /m/ also like old anon culture. When the Board is owned by a guy who tripfagged for years on cuckchan and half the posts have names or trips attached to them oldfags will not come here.
I am as /m/ as it can get. I was on 4/m/ the day it was made and I've been a mecha fan for near two decades now. But I won't use this board because it's full of cancer, the same cancer I stopped going to 4/cuck/ before long before any exoduses (00 and Code Geass were the last straw). I remember it exists once a year and drop in. Go "oh yea, still owned by a tripfag, still dead" and leave. It's like /tg/, I won't use it because it's full of fags jerking off to 40k from the old 4/b/ threads or playing pozzed to shit larpy games about being a shitty bisexual elf.
If you want old /m/ to return you need an environment like old /m/. It needs to lose the name fagging, the trip fagging and the waifu bait.
Five steps to revive /m/
>1, remove BO. Get an anon BO or one who isn't a hated tripfag from 4cuck
>2, advertise on /b2/ and the mecha threads on the vidya boards, which are active and popular
>3, announce film nights on other suitable boards. Do weekly discussions threads, give people a fixed movie night to meet on cytube and watch new and old stuff together like /a/ does. Advertise this else where.
>4, forced anon. No trips, no names, no avatar faggotry. That's all cancer
>5, promote Gunpla and get people to post their projects. Gunpla pulls in people who don't like anime but like model kits, a second source of people
>Bonus step. Viral yourself where suitable on other boards.
You still have to deal with the fact that all modern mecha is almost unwatchable as is toku. But that doesn't make an unwinnable battle. You just have to ban any waifu faggotry, the yaoi fangirls all over toku and any one attention seeking.

With all due respect, then why don't you stop squatting on the board and offer it to any other anon instead? Especially one willing to dedicate more time and effort to keep the community alive. Can't do jack shit if BO says "not my problem". Guerilla streams you're suggesting aren't going to improve the situation by themselves.

I'd rather the board exist under its own power than have me force a bunch of things on people. I generally try to be pretty hands-off about "the community" for this board. If there's a The Community that wants to do stuff they can go ahead and do it.
If your stream is that nifty it'll get traffic regardless of if it's "The Guy Who Deletes Spam on 8/m/ Presents Some Cartoons" as opposed to "One Of The Three Guys Who Posts On 8/m/ Presents Some Cartoons".
given the dearth of traffic I've seen on the channels I mostly run for myself it's clearly not a seal of approval that will put asses in the seats, lol
If you want weekly discussions make weekly discussions. It's just posting on an image board, it shouldn't need an executive committee. If you want more gunpla action post more gunpla action.
"be the change you want to see" may be a cliche but it really does seem to have some merit in shaping your neck of the onlines.

You seem to be missing a crucial point. A dialogue needs a minimum of two people, while there's only one of me. And I'm not going to talk to myself under the guise of anonymity.
Based on personal experience, I've been trying to revive another small anime-themed board for the last six years before giving up. Posting every single day has no effect when you're speaking into emptiness. The only replies I'm going to see would be "it looks bad and I'm not going to give it a chance", "I'll watch it some other day", and "oh it hasn't been subbed, it must be bad then, I'm not going to give it a chance".

yeah, it's frustrating being the only person in a chat/board, but I won't snitch if your IP keeps popping up responding to yourself as long as you're not a jerk about it lol. maybe try to space it out so it's not so obvious
unfortunately us monkeys are basically dumb and only do what we see other monkeys do, that's a lesson I learned many times on WoW. you can patiently explain "hey guys let's go kill that thing" all you want but you get a lot further hopping up and down while killing the thing and people just start following your lead
I can start posting anon in some of the threads to help out, too but even if you prime the pump the horse may not drink, to mix metaphors.
even 4/m/ ends up pretty slow from what I've heard normal chan standards are, and there's places even slower than here like the current mechachan goes
even futaba and some of the lesser moonchans of this sort of material can run pretty slow
try to do what you want, but just don't be shocked if you find the upper limit is pretty low

>Why is /m/ dead?
Because everyone hates /m/ fags?
Do you not understand that being complete spergs wherever you go, shitting up absolutely everything you don't like and acting in general like complete niggers gives you a completely poisoned reputation? The way you fags acted on /animu/ alone is justification to burn your board to the ground if only you faggots were even worth it.
/m/ is dead because the users of /m/ made enemies of every other board and then chased away all the anons that would make OC for them.

>Because everyone hates /m/ fags?
You are assuming too much. I doubt that your average poster is even aware that "/m/ fags" exist.
>The way you fags acted on /animu/ alone
Elaborate. Give an archive link, if you would.
I have been checking /animu/ weekly for at least a year and never saw a single thread or a post there that would make you say something like that. Yes, I may haven't checked every non-mecha related thread and I definitely wouldn't read every post and remember them all, but I would not miss a /m/-related shitstorm caused by someone's atrocious actions like the ones you described. Same for /vg/, /v/ and even /a/. Though /a/ had a "why normalfags hate mecha?" thread that is on one if the last pages right now, its contents do not fit your "/m/ fags shitting up absolutely everything they don't like and acting in general like complete niggers" description.
Also some "fags" that made you angry somewhere don't represent the entire board.
>the users of /m/ made enemies of every other board
We'd have a lot of negative or passive-aggressive posts here if that was true. I never even saw anyone post that they hate mecha genre/aesthetics or the people who like it because of negative behaviour of the latter. People usually dislike mecha because it's "not realistic" or silly.
>then chased away all the anons that would make OC for them
If you actually skimmed through the upper part of the board catalog, you'd see that every OC that anons posted here was well-received. If anything chased creative posters away, it's the lack of board activity.

It's a good time to get into mecha. There's a lot of backlog in regards to mecha and tokusatsu stuff.
You can ease in with Super Robot stuff like G. Gundam and Gurren lagann, then work your way to the other Gunam series and even shows like Macross, Eureka 7 and Mazinger.
You can also get into Tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider , Ultra Man and even Garo. Garo aside from the live action has gotten anime adaptaions and SSSS. Gridman is a cool anime based off the Ultra series.
You can also get into the Gunpla hobby and build Gundam models. There's even Gundam Build Fighters anime series that centers around Gundam models.

You fool. You utter ignoramous. The anime is based on the 1993 tokusatsu. The original 1993 live action tokusatsu is made by Tsuburaya Productions BUT is in no way related to Ultraman.

OC is the lifeblood of the board. This means drawfags and translators.
If anons came and start threads to translate mecha/toku videogames and manga, there'd be more activity.
If anons have an idea and want to create a tabletop project involving mechs, they are free to do so here.
If anons want to discuss mecha games here, nothing's stopping them.
If anons want to make threads for Gunpla and other model mechs, they're encouraged to do so.
If there are anons that want to do anime and toku streams, they might as well go ahead.
What anons should also do is let everyone on this site that this board exists and give them reasons to come.
