This is to discuss RT as a company. Who they are, where they are likely to go, what sort of people work for them, and what the companies goals are.
RT is owned by Otter Media (who also own Crunchyroll. Strange that was never disclosed by either party).
Otter Media is owned by AT&T and some investor & businessman called "Peter Chernin".
Peter sits on the board at Twitter, owns majority stake in "Barstool Sports" (a group not afraid to be left-leaning and accusing people of being neo-nazis)- gave over $100,000 to the Democrats, and hosted Obama in his home for a fundraiser, and a producer of the new Planet of the Apes films.
Literally so much about RT makes sense.
Lets not forget that RT is in the heart of Austin- and it shows. Most of their staff is quite left leaning (with a few people that come across as so relaxed- maybe they're keeping their mouths shut or just don't care). They even promoted some game at RTX that was basically AntiFa simulator (RIOT: Civil Unrest IIRC), and Yang's VA has gone on public record & made it clear at conventions she believes the "pussy grabbing" mudslinging.
I disavow and condemn any post encouraging harassment, doxxing, or any actions deemed illegal in the USA.

Vic has allegedly taken up legal advice, but we don't know where this will go.

It's embarrassingly obvious they were trying to throw a bone to all the fans who were saying Oz was a secret villain but wouldn't go all the way with it. The kids and manbaby didn't turn on Ozpin over him covering up Lionheart's treachery, not over him putting civilians at risk, but over him not going around yelling Salem can't be killed by mortals.
RWBY critique community
I decided to take a look of the rabbit hole that is the "RWBY critique community" and holy fuck these people.
Half of the time these niggas don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

I'd say Monty's animations are less shit than the ones we have now, but it doesn't mean it has no flaws onto them. It's like that thing where women would have uglier/fatter women next to them to trick others into thinking that they are pretty.
Some of the shit they complain about feels like nitpicking at times- but that might be because they have such an unbearable tone in their voices and its hard to listen to what they are saying.
But one thing that stuck out is that these guys seem notorious even in community sites like Reddit, Youtube, Twitter etc. Is it just rabid fans who don't like criticism or are the critics genuinely are crazy, or both? I only glanced at a few comments.

I don't know anything about this guy. Hell, I don't even know anyone that's e-famous in the RWBY fanbase other than Mojojo and AlphaJaune (that guy who made the RWBY abridged series when S1 first aired), and I don't know anything personal about them either. Some of his points were fine (like the lesbo pandering of lgbtbbq) but I feel like he's bitching about it not for the sake of the show or critique, but because HE doesn't like it and he's throwing a tantrum about a ship he hates.
I didn't watch the whole thing because it's essentially a 40min video of a manchild whining about some anime cartoon but choice moments were:

How to Fix RWBY
So we've seen how the series has nose-dived. But even Season 1 & 2 had issues.
Assuming you had the money & the perfect animators and script writers- how would you re-tell the story better?
Would you address plot-holes? Would there be stuff you'd change even though they it was done well?

Welcome to /rwby/'s first ever CYOA/Quest thread!
In this adventure you all will be guiding the actions of a character named Verdant Octavius, rich heir to a Dusk merchant who has ties with SDC (Schnee Dust Company)! This is Verdant's first year and his team/origin have already been decided in the meta thread for this CYOA, but that doesn't mean you can't join in despite not participated. Though I'd recommend that you check the thread out to get an idea of what's going on here.
The adventure will begin at the same time Ruby Rose is starting her first year at Beacon and will follow the shows plot to a limited extent. There will be twists and turns in the path ahead, as well as romance, friendship, and heartbreak.

How will Verdant's actions be decided you may ask? Through democracy of course!
Everyone gets to choose from one of the many options that will be presented throughout the adventure and the option with the most approval shall be Verdant's action.
From this thread forward, you guys will have the option to write in your own dialogue for Verdant. This is certain to make things interesting.
But how will combat be solved? In combat you will be presented with several options and the one with the most approval shall also be Verdant's action. Some actions can turn the tide of a fight while others will miss, or even cause you great pain in your immediate future.
Will there be waifu? Of course there will be!
Pretty much any female in this CYOA will be open to romance, or even befriended depending upon your actions. Don't expect to get into a fivesome with team RWBY though.
Is it possible to die?
Not really. We can't just end the adventure and start over because of one poor choice. Getting your ass kicked will have negative consequences for both you and your team mates though. Be careful. Be smart.

Rwby X Hunter
What would be some fun Hunter X Hunter Matchups between Rwbys? I always though how the powers worked always seemed pretty similar. Also its funny because it would still technically be Hunter vs Hunter. Nen basically is tried as Aura since they blatantly call it as much and functions pretty similarly. Obviously anyone from Hunter X Hunter who doesn't have enchantment type Nen would probably get one shot by bullets, which is something that happens a lot in Hunter X Hunter because Yuyu Hakaso/Hunter X Hunter's creator loves powers that function on a "realistic level". However some characters overcome this be ether being super fast or the power they do have overshadows this weakness if they are suppose to be the combat types.
Which Hunters would you like to see fight Huntsmen. Hunter X Huntress.

RWBY CYOA/Quest: Meta
So I have been playing with the idea of starting up a CYOA/Quest on /rwby/ to help get our activity up and also provide some entertainment for my fellow posters. This has been discussed in two threads so far and I think it's about time I put my plan into action.
This thread is just for me to get some feedback from the other posters here as well as the players.
For those of you who don't know what CYOA or even a Quest thread is then I can explain it pretty simply. A CYOA (choose your own adventure) or a Quest is a thread where we all work together to tell a story and just have a good time watching the events unfold. In the adventure I have planned you will be taking on the role of a new student at Beacon academy and will collectively be choosing all his important actions as well as his general personality and past. Any fights/challenges that occur will be decided with dice rolls which I'll fill you guys in on when the time comes. This will mostly be a romance/shenanigans type of adventure so expect there to be more talking and fun that combat (unless you guys want a lot of fighting).
I'll the QM (quest master) and the one responsible for writing the story itself while the players (you guys) choose what to do next.
How do you guys feel about me giving you a small list of origins followed by a few weapon/semblance choices? The weapons will go hand-in-hand with the semblances meaning that each weapon will come with its own predetermined semblance, hopefully that makes sense.

Does anyone on /rwby/ genuinely believe that Cinder is Ruby's mother? If so, what evidence/theories do you have to make it work? I remember when I first started watching RWBY waaay back in V1, I theorized that Cinder was Ruby's mom. Week 0: I don't know what happened. There were swarms of Grimm fighting and robot soldiers turning against us, there was a HUGE flash of light, and the next thing I know… everything is fine! Nothing bad ever happened! Beacon is intact, and Phyrra… she's alive! And Yang didn't lose her arm! But… we all look different. Very… chibi. I'm not sure what happened, but from what I've gathered, something happened that caused our own timeline to change. Or maybe it split in half, and we're all in the second half? I need to figure it out for myself. But at the same time, I don't know whether any of my friends are in the loop or not. And if they are, what sort of repercussions could they have on the current timeline? Until I can get a better understanding of what happened, the best thing we can do is to deny EVERYTHING about what happened at Beacon. If anyone else becomes aware, then it may destabilize this timeline, and maybe even cause a tear in the multi-verse as a whole! In the mean time, I will be writing down any discoveries or noteworthy events in the following weeks.
Week 1: I've explored more of this new timeline incognito. It turns out that along with me, my team, and Team RWBY, Neptune and Sun are around as well, as well as our professors and the Head Mistress. So are some other ones I haven't met before. Torchwick, Neopolitan, Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald. Not only this, but also the shopkeeper… well, shopkeepers. It turns out that there's several of them around town outside Beacon. On its own this detail seems anomalous, but then there's the fact they're more than aware of the unusual shift in the space-time continuum. But I don't know if I can trust them. Then there's also the shadow people who just creep me out. Some of them even look like my friends, and the worst I can assume is that these are echoes from another timeline. From where, I'm not entirely sure.
Week 2: Jaune decided to expose himself to Team RWBY. He was upset that he tripped over one of Blake's candle sticks and broke his leg. I tried to tell him to let it go, since it was an honest mistake on Blake's part, but he was still adamant on giving her a piece of his mind.
Week 3: Jaune's interactions with Team RWBY have heightened, specifically with Weiss. It seems that everyone's memories have been affected by the Split, as I've decided to call it, since he's back to trying too hard to go steady with Weiss. It's amusing to see, even more so when he sabotaged the Ice Queen's scroll in a desperate attempt at preventing his more aggressive calls from being surfaced, albeit a little sad. He and Phyrra were… ARE made for each other. When is he going to realize this?
Week 4: Nothing significant to report.

What if Qrow is Ruby's father?
Here's how it plays out in my head:
Taiyang and Raven paired up.
Summer and Qrow paired up. Thing is, Qrow is less responsible, so Summer and Qrow's relationship wasn't going to marriage anytime soon.
When Raven dissapears, Qrow (quite responsibly) up and dissappears to go look for her, without a word.
Unbeknownst to him, he's knocked up Summer.
Summer and Taiyang become an item: he helps her through her pregnancy, she helps him with baby Yang.
Qrow comes back and has a Bill at the wedding moment.
I realize that this would add unneccessary melodrama, but it would be some interesting moments of character development in flashbacks for Taiyang and Qrow. Both would be quite over thier past by the time of the show. I can imagine Qrow telling Taiyang and Summer that Taiyang would be a better father for Ruby anyway.
I explains why she is Ruby Rose and not Ruby Long: Taiyang and Summer weren't married when she was born (and they didn't bother to change her name [Independant of her father, that is probably why she has her mother's name]).

Seeing how Volume 3 just ended, I believe we should unleash our autistic powers and meme our own story lines into the show speculate on what's in store for Volume 4.
Personally, I think they will arrive in Haven to find themselves at the brink of a civil war happening, between the "extremists" who are rabidly anti-Faunus and those who want to keep society normal. remember that RT is made up of liberal faggots
Blake's got all the makings of becoming Batman, someone who fights in the shadows in order for her friends to be safe, and my guess is Sun will be helping her out because he's that hard-headed.
Yang will continue to mope around, until Taiyang lights a fire under her ass, somehow. or maybe it'll be Raven that does it. Or both.
Weiss will continue to live under her father's rule. She must choose between being completely disowned by the family and helping her friends, or continue to be groomed as heiress.
Roman and Neo will return. no fucking way they got killed.

I had this crazy thought: Atlas has a big military and a big military R&D industry. Naturally, the two come hand in hand as technological advancement has proven to be one of the deciding factors in many conflicts here on Earth. It would only make sense that even as a Grim Dragon sits atop Vale, Atlesian engineers would be busy with discovering and perfecting new methods of controlled destruction.
Also, general weapon systems in Remnant discussion is welcome.
"But why develop new ways to fight Grim when current weapon systems seem efficient enough?"
There is always room for improvement, but the real kick would be this:

Now I think that this could be something like a "Black Dust" tipped cartridge. No matter how edgy and OC-ish it sounds, BD would be a dust-like substance capable of penetrating and/or bypassing Aura entirely, allowing for a single projectile to cause lethal damage even to a hunter with strong and full Aura.
For this purpose, any weapon that could achieve similar results is applicable as well. It makes no matter because this is where everyone's favourite cinnamon bun comes in:
Atlas would need a testing platform to develop such weapon, but testing it on Aura wielding individuals is not a good way to go about it for obvious reasons. Therefore, a machine that can project Aura is needed. Enter the first working prototype, Penny.

There is no guarantee Penny is the only one. Hell, she may be a byproduct of the research, to test if a killing machine would be able to infiltrate, say, a school, unnoticed. What if next time the target area is a whitefang camp, or a dissent meetup? To Quote Cinder, "Why would anyone have a need for soldiers disguised as little girls?"
Now, the implications of such a weapon are huge. This is an assassin's weapon, to use on other humans, that, unlike Grim, may or may not be enemies. It may fall into the wrong hands. Pyrha fell to one arrow, but she took a lot of hits before her Aura was depleted to allow it to penetrate. This weapon would kill on first hit.
Anyway, that's my insomnia fueled tinfoilhattery. What's yours?

okay, well the main baddies for the first few volumes are human spirits that weren't sent on to the next world fast enough.
They're chained to something at first, but eventually the chain shrinks and tears out a hole in their chest, making them go "Hollow."
And when that happens they shift from humanoid spirit into a monstrous ethereal form with a unique mask.
Now look at Rwby's baddies.
All monstrous of some sort, all wearing a bone-shaped rune-inscribed mask.
Now let's take this a step further.
Later on in the series, the MC and crew learn that they can surpass the usual power levels by mixing their usual powers (those of the shinigami, death spirits) by finding little cheats to partially go hollow and add to their own power. The ones that do this are called Vizards.
White-fang wears monstrous masks for intimidation, but I think there might be something genuine there, and the way that probably-yang's-mom-racer-x lady appeared, how Neo reacted to her, and how she carted that mask around all make me wonder if she's found some way to go Partially Grim.
Additionally, there are Hollows that figure they can use the Shinigami tactics, turning themselves partly Back toward their human roots and appearances, but keeping the gaping hole in their chest; Arancars.
Not knowing what exactly Cinder is, but remembering the flavor text and exposition in episode 1, I'm betting that even if she's Not a Grim+, Oobleck's comment that the Really old Really Powerful Grimm get smart, wise up, and have long memories and lifespans is going to imply that eventually they reach human-like sentience.
Human Versus Faunus: Why both Weiss and Blake are Wrong
We all know about the whole Human/Faunus conflict within the world of Remnant. However, I hold the opinion that both Weiss and Blake have said some morally/ethically questionable things. So here's why I think they (and by extension, the Schnee Dust Company and the White Fang) are both wrong.
First lets start out with Weiss. She blames the entirety of Faunus-kind on her crappy childhood given to her by her abusive father. Not to mention that the company she's set to inherit profits off the backs of it's workers as well as having many other questionable business practices.
Now lets move on to Blake. She has no problems lumping the entirety of Humanity under the "racist" banner when she tells Ozpin that his species is unwilling to accept the Faunus. Despite the fact that she has many friends who know her secret yet still accept her for who she is. Lets not forget that she has/had ties to a known terrorist organization that will kill anybody to achieve its goals.
To me, the White Fang took the easy way out when it decided to become an extremist organization. Some people argue that the White Fang probably wouldn't of had to become so violent if Faunus weren't treated like shit. But here's the thing, the average bigot isn't gonna care about any of that. To them, the White Fang's violent acts only serve to further vindicate their feelings of bigotry. I know that revenge can feel good, but all it does is further escalate the cycle of hatred no matter who started what first. Part of the process of a successful civil rights campaign is to engage in non-violent protest in order to help people get on your side. And when bigots commit violent acts against non-violent protesters, that just makes the public at large more sympathetic to their cause. Yet the White Fang let their frustrations get the better of them, which would be seen as proof by anti-Faunus Humans that Faunus are nothing more than violent savages.

RWBY CYOA: Beacon Quest - Part 1
Welcome to /rwby/'s first ever CYOA/Quest thread!
In this adventure you all will be guiding the actions of a character named Verdant Octavious, rich heir to a Dusk merchant who has ties with SDC (Schnee Dust Company)!This is Verdant's first year and his team/origin have already been decided in the meta thread for this CYOA, but that doesn't mean you can't join in despite not participated. Though I'd recommend that you check the thread out to get an idea of what's going on here.
The adventure will begin at the same time Ruby Rose is starting her first year at Beacon and will follow the shows plot to a limited extent. There will be twists and turns in the path ahead, romance, friendship, and heartbreak.

How will Verdant's actions be decided you may ask? Through democracy of course!
Everyone gets to choose from one of the many options that will be presented throughout the adventure and the option with the most approval shall be Verdant's action.
But how will combat be solved you wonder? By rolling dice!
In combat you will be presented with several options and the one with the approval shall also be Verdant's action, though many actions will also require a roll of a twenty sided die (1d20) to see if the action succeeds and some choices are even doomed to fail. Rolling a really high or really how on the d20 can result in some pretty interesting thing such as a critical failure or a critical hit which can help turn the tide of battle in favor of either you, or you enemy if you happen to fail.
Will there be waifu? Of course there will be.
Pretty much any female in this CYOA will be open to romance, or even befriended depending upon your actions. Don't expect to get into a fivesome with team RWBY though.
Is it possible to die?
Not really. We can't just end the adventure and start over because of one poor roll. Getting your ass kicked will have negative consequences for both you and your team mates. Be careful.

A Tribute to Monty - RWBY OC Thread
I know the community is going through some shit ever since Monty passed and a lot of us are still grieving.But looking through some rwby fan art on my phone I found the attached image. Monty himself wrote up a little OC guideline for the fans when he saw the then fledgling community start producing so much fan works for it.
