Depends on what you like, really. The novel takes an extremely tropey approach to the characters. Jaune, for example, is basically nothing like he is in the OG show. It's difficult to explain, but all the characters seem like uncanny imitations. Like your mom comes into your room but really it's someone else wearing her skin.
