I want to see more Neon

I've thankfully had no exposure to the meme but Neon Katt may have worked if the character was a little piece of levity in a more serious story. The problem is that the Vytal Festival Tournament had become a farce by that point. The Tournament is supposed to be an Olympic games for the world of Remnant so the tone should have been more somber from the start. Then when Neon Katt and team FNKI shows up (did they ever really show up since we only saw two of them), it would serve as a temporary and much needed visual break from all the tension. During combat, with better choreography, she would have probably been a mix of Skate & Blaze from the "Streets of Rage" series and whatever wonderful stunt & nunchaku techniques a competent combat designer could devise. Unfortunately, she was just the final piece of fruit on top of the sillyness cake, sliding around the screen in one of the most stiff looking fights of the volume. Then we had to watch Yang chase Katt around like an idiot, a mistake she made in the fight with Arslan Altan earlier, which only served to bring out a fundamental error in the way the tournament was conceived and executed. Seeing Weiss and Yang team up against anybody should have been an awesome fight, instead it was an appallingly sloppy fight with terrible dialogue and you felt relief when it was over.

Basically, it was all in the presentation. Sure you won't like every character, but this was like expecting a meal at a 4-star restaurant and instead someone brought school cafeteria food and presented it to you on a dustbin lid.
