We all know about the whole Human/Faunus conflict within the world of Remnant. However, I hold the opinion that both Weiss and Blake have said some morally/ethically questionable things. So here's why I think they (and by extension, the Schnee Dust Company and the White Fang) are both wrong.

First lets start out with Weiss. She blames the entirety of Faunus-kind on her crappy childhood given to her by her abusive father. Not to mention that the company she's set to inherit profits off the backs of it's workers as well as having many other questionable business practices.

Now lets move on to Blake. She has no problems lumping the entirety of Humanity under the "racist" banner when she tells Ozpin that his species is unwilling to accept the Faunus. Despite the fact that she has many friends who know her secret yet still accept her for who she is. Lets not forget that she has/had ties to a known terrorist organization that will kill anybody to achieve its goals.

To me, the White Fang took the easy way out when it decided to become an extremist organization. Some people argue that the White Fang probably wouldn't of had to become so violent if Faunus weren't treated like shit. But here's the thing, the average bigot isn't gonna care about any of that. To them, the White Fang's violent acts only serve to further vindicate their feelings of bigotry. I know that revenge can feel good, but all it does is further escalate the cycle of hatred no matter who started what first. Part of the process of a successful civil rights campaign is to engage in non-violent protest in order to help people get on your side. And when bigots commit violent acts against non-violent protesters, that just makes the public at large more sympathetic to their cause. Yet the White Fang let their frustrations get the better of them, which would be seen as proof by anti-Faunus Humans that Faunus are nothing more than violent savages.

What are your thoughts on this, anons?

I agree.

Not much else I can think of to say on the subject. To me, it seems pretty cut and dry that both White Fang and anti-Faunusfags are wrong.

Weiss has lived in fear of the White Fang her entire life, her only positive interaction with faunus has been Blake. She should have a lot more hang ups over faunus, instead she acts like a western liberal and constantly apologizes for things she didn't do, meanwhile Blake constantly defends faunus Al Qaeda which she was a part of. This is a problem with the show as a whole, we're told that racism against faunus is a big deal yet the only racists we ever see are A. Roman a criminal whos a jerk to everyone and B. Cardin a bully whos a jerk to everyone. Meanwhile we've seen hundreds of faunus criminals and even Sun has called the White Fang a cult, so yeah when Blake goes on a rant and calls the White Fang 'misguided but with good intentions' even if they want to kill all humans it makes her look a little crazy.

And then you have Weiss apologizing to Trumpet Guy for her dad putting his dad out of business, this is dumb on a lot of levels but in particular it seems to imply that Weiss, a heir to a major company, doesn't seem to know how the free market works. There's only so much pie and everyone is fighting over it, even Roosterteeth is cutting into someone's profits

Yes and no.

Blake is wrong in how she allowed the White Fang to fall so low. Blake watched Adam and the WF devolve from the civil rights movement into a terrorist origination.

In stead to speaking out and standing for what she really believed in, and addressing the inconvenient truth that the white fang were becoming worse than the people they were fighting, she ran away to the lie that what they did was 'justified'.

She chose to believe that what the WF were doing needed to be done, and the people who became victims were still the victimizers. Blake allowed people like Weiss, who had no influence on the issue, become the inadvertent targets of the WF through idle obedience.

And instead of standing up and fighting to save the WF from what they had became, she ran. She ran because it was easier than facing the fact she was becoming as much as a bad guy as Mr Schnee was/is.

Was Weiss wrong to react the way she did? Absolutely, but you can't blame her as much considering the greef and isolation the white fang has caused her. There's probably a reason we haven't heard of a Ms. Schnee despite the focus on Weiss family ties.

I'm paraphrasing a bit, but there was a part in Schwarzkoph's autobiography where he's talking about some advice he was given.

He was dissatisfied with the way things were going with the Army and he wanted to quit. Some one counselled him, saying that if he can either wash his hands of it and leave, or he can stick around long enough to change things for the better.

As a member, especially one with a good relationship over a presumably influential member like Adam, Blake was in a position to make some positive change. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." While leaving and re-training as a huntress isn't exactly "nothing", I do feel Blake took the easy way out, especially as she started hiding who she was.

The Faunus and the White Fang are what happens when amateur writers try and fail to write a Racism subplot.

Blake is what happens when you base a character around said shitty subplot.

Also we have no background on many things. Do we know the exact ratio of faunus to humans or who hires them. Hell for all we know The Schnees are the only ones who hire them for any kind of work. Also hey lets protest for equal pay by robbing them of their merchandise and forcing them to pay for more security that will totally make them pay us more. Why where the humans trying to confine them into a single area? Do Faunus also hate humans as well? Did they used to be more animalistic than they are now? Did some weeaboo just say a cat was fine too and fuck a cat and out popped a cat faunus who knows? Most stereotypes are based on some form of truth. I rarely ever see a racism plot even done right especially now. It just hey they look different. lets go oppress them hahaha. The oppressed group dindu nothin wrong while the oppressors are evil bigots. Racism and stereotypes are based more then just how they look. It could be cultural differences, historical conflicts and tensions. mutual hatred etc.
