Welcome to /rwby/'s first ever CYOA/Quest thread!

In this adventure you all will be guiding the actions of a character named Verdant Octavious, rich heir to a Dusk merchant who has ties with SDC (Schnee Dust Company)! This is Verdant's first year and his team/origin have already been decided in the meta thread for this CYOA, but that doesn't mean you can't join in despite not participated. Though I'd recommend that you check the thread out to get an idea of what's going on here.

The adventure will begin at the same time Ruby Rose is starting her first year at Beacon and will follow the shows plot to a limited extent. There will be twists and turns in the path ahead, romance, friendship, and heartbreak.

The meta thread can be found here:

https://8ch.net/rwby/res/624.html#top

How will Verdant's actions be decided you may ask? Through democracy of course!

Everyone gets to choose from one of the many options that will be presented throughout the adventure and the option with the most approval shall be Verdant's action.

But how will combat be solved you wonder? By rolling dice!

In combat you will be presented with several options and the one with the approval shall also be Verdant's action, though many actions will also require a roll of a twenty sided die (1d20) to see if the action succeeds and some choices are even doomed to fail. Rolling a really high or really how on the d20 can result in some pretty interesting thing such as a critical failure or a critical hit which can help turn the tide of battle in favor of either you, or you enemy if you happen to fail.

Will there be waifu? Of course there will be.

Pretty much any female in this CYOA will be open to romance, or even befriended depending upon your actions. Don't expect to get into a fivesome with team RWBY though.

Is it possible to die?

Not really. We can't just end the adventure and start over because of one poor roll. Getting your ass kicked will have negative consequences for both you and your team mates. Be careful.

Let's get this thing started!

Man, born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful, but he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness — creatures of destruction — the creatures of Grimm - set their sights on man and all of his creations. These forces clashed, and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void.

However, even the smallest spark of hope is enough to ignite change, and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness, and ingenuity led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named "Dust."

Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.

But even the most brilliant lights eventually flicker and die. And when they are gone… darkness will return.

So you may prepare your guardians, build your monuments to a so-called "free world," but take heed… there will be no victory in strength.

>You are Verdant Octavius, rich heir to Octavius Dust Supply.

>For years you have dreamed of breaking away from your boring life and live a more exciting life as a Huntsman. Thanks to a combination of wealth and good grades you have been accepted into the most prestigious school for Huntsmen in all of Vale, Beacon Academy. With a combination of your good looks, your trusty sniper halberd, and an account full of Lien, you intend on taking the Academy by storm. And maybe even pick up a few cute girls along the way.

>It is a clear Monday morning and hardly a single plume of cloud is in the sky. You take a deep breath of the fresh morning air and let out a satisfied sigh as you reflect on everything that has built up to this moment, the moment you board the airship to Beacon Academy and take your first true first step toward becoming a Huntsman.

>The boarding platform is cluttered with a large group of future Huntsmen and Huntresses, each with their own dreams, their own aspirations. Something you're not used to is the large number of faunus among the crowd, an uncommon sight in the upper class district of Vale where their kind are few in far between.

>At your side is your trusty emerald green suitcase which is filled with just about everything you could possibly need while at Beacon. You kind of stick out among the group of potential Huntsmen due to your rather refined looks and expensive looking attire. Your weapon for the moment is locked inside a special compartment in your suitcase but it seems like the other students are more than happy to openly carry deadly weapons around in plain sight.

>After what seems like an eternity of waiting the airship docks beside the boarding platform and opens it's doors. You and the other students eagerly pile in but don't completely fill the interior. You've got plenty of room to move around comfortably and even mingle with your fellow students. A hologram blinks to life next to the ships window and begins playing a live news broadcast. Looks like another lowlife robbed a Dust shop in Vale last night. Typical.

>The airship takes to the sky as smooth as you'd expect a type AS12 Silver Wing to, probably the best mass transports in all of Remnant. As you look around the interior, you spot several interesting looking people that could at least provide some amusement while you wait for the airship to arrive at Beacon. A few yards away you see two girls, one with long golden hair, the other with short black hair and a red cape. The two are currently hugging like you'd expect two siblings to hug one another while having a rather animated conversation. The red girls appears to be significantly younger than the other students on board the ship which suggests she might have been moved head a few years.

>Standing head and shoulders above the other students is a massive male that could best be described as a shaved bear. His shoulders are broad and his hair thick and brown. You swear that you can see stubble even beginning to form upon his stern face suggesting that he's very mature for his age.

>A few yards away you can hear a high pitched voice talking a mile a minute. The voice belongs to a girl wearing a white top and pink combat skirt. She's currently talking to a boy with raven hear in a emerald green tailcoat, though the boy seems rather tired and might not even be listening to her.

>There's a boy leaning over the railing with blonde hair who looks like he's about to puke his guts up. You have no clue how he ended up on the airship.

What should Verdant do now?

1. Try talking with the blonde girl and red cloaked girl.

2. See if the blonde boy is okay.

3. Go talk with the energetic girl and tired boy.

4. Talk with the bear-like boy.

5. Watch the news.

6. Keep to yourself and wait for the ship to arrive at Beacon.

>You decide that the two girls seems pretty cute and might be worth talking too. A little socializing might be just what you need to pass the time.

>As you approach the two with your suitcase in tow you can't help but overhear the conversation the two are having.

>"What's with you? Aren't you excited?" the blonde asks the other.

>"Of course I'm excited… I just…," the black haired girl sighs. "I got moved ahead two years. I don't want people to think I'm special or anything."

>"But you are special," the blonde smiles as she hugs the girl.

>Looks like this might be your chance to break the ice and talk with some cute girls.

>"Hey, I couldn't help but hear you say that you got moved ahead two years," you say to the black haired girl. "That's pretty impressive you someone your age."

>"Oh no…," the black hair girl says under her breath.

>"See, I told you that you're special!" the blonde beams at the other girl before turning to you. "The name's Yang Xiao Long, I don't think we've met before."

>"The name is Verdant Octavius, a pleasure," you smile with an outstretched hand which Yang grabs firmly before shaking. You try you best to maintain your composure as the girls vise-like grip crushes the bones in your hand and nearly drives you to the point of tears.

>"It's always cool meeting new friends, especially when you've just entered a brand new school with all sorts of unfamiliar faces," Yang says as you hide your hand behind your back and pray you don't get sent to the hospital after that one.

>"S-Same," you groan to yourself.

>"Oh! This is my younger sister, Ruby," Yang says before pushing Ruby in front of you. "And you heard right, she got pushed ahead two years."

>"Really? What school did you graduate from?" you ask, your composure mostly in order.

>"I technically graduated from Signal Academy. I'm nothing special, really," Ruby insists.

What should you do now?

1. "So, why did you two decide to become Huntresses?"

2. "If you got moved ahead two years that probably means that you didn't get to bring your friends along with you. That must suck."

3. "Not to brag, but I was a pretty big deal back in my Academy. Graduated at the top of my class and everything."

4. "So the two of you are from Vale then? Where specifically?"

5. "What's with the blonde boy? He looks like he's going to be sick…."

6. "So what kind of weapons do you girls use?" *show them your halberd*

7. "What's your take on all these Dust shop robberies going on lately?"

I'm thinking '#2. It shows a careless form of pseudo-empathy that just seems perfect for the character. Hopefully without pissing off Yang too much.

>"Yeah, I really does," Ruby sighs while looking at the ground.

>Yang gives you a glare backed with a blaze in her eyes that tell you everything you need to know.

>"Don't worry, Ruby. I'm sure you'll make plenty of new friends at Beacon," Yang reassures her sister, placing a comforting hand on Ruby's shoulder. Looks like Yang is rather protective of her sister. You should probably be more careful around Ruby while Yang is near.

>"Thanks, Yang," Ruby smile back at her older sister. "I plan on keeping in contact with them while we're at Beacon so It's not goodbye for good."

>"That's the spirit!" Yang says, giving her sister a slap on the shoulder. "You just got to get out there and make some more friends!"

>You breath a sigh of relief. If she can almost break your hand with a casual hand shake then you don't even want to think about what kind of damage a punch to the gut could do.

What should Verdant say now?

1. "I'm in a similar possession. I'm gonna have to make new friends at Beacon myself."

2. "Yang's right. You just need to be more outgoing and you'll have a whole group of friends in no time."

3. "Maybe we got off on the wrong foot?" *offer Ruby a friendly hand shake*

4. "So what kind of weapons do you girls use?" *show them your halberd*

>"I'm sure you'll find a group of rich guys to hang out with, Beacon is a pretty prestigious academy," Yang says, clearly upset with what you said to her sister, just not enough to smack you.

>"I think I get the message," you say.

>You turn to your right and see the same blonde haired boy leaning with his back against the wall. He still looks like he's about to die.

>"Uhh, is he going to be okay?" Yang ask you and Ruby.

>"Is he a civilian that accidentally got aboard the airship?" you ask.

>"I don't think so. He's got a weapon and everything," Ruby adds.

>"Yeah, but just look at those jeans. They don't look like something a future Huntsman should be wearing," you say.

>Yang walks up to the sick boy and waves a hand in front of his face in an attempt to get his attention.

>"Hey, are you okay? You look like you got stung by a Deathstalker," Yang says.

>"Uhhh…," the boy groans as he struggles to hold himself together. "Mooootion sickneeesss."

>"Well at least he isn't dying," you say.

What should you do with this mess?

1. Let Ruby and Yang take care of him. There's no way you're touching this peasant.

2. Pull the boy up off the ground and point him in the direction of a garbage can.

3. Help the boy up and carry him to a garbage can where he will should be good.

4. Tell him to pull himself together! He's a Huntsman, god dammit!

>Time itself soon makes the choice for you and you quickly shield your eyes as the blonde boy's face turns a deep green, his stomach making a sickening grumbling sound.

>"Ewww, gross!" Ruby jumps back from the boy.

>"It almost got on my boots!" Yang exclaims.

>You don't dare look at the scene unfolding before you and simply spin around and look out the window.

>"Tell me when this is over," you sigh.

>"I feel better now," the boy groans weakly.

>The three of you move far away from the blonde boy who's currently leaning over a metal garbage can on the far side of the airship. By the sound of things, he's probably going to be like that until the airship stops moving.

>"Well that was an interesting to start the day," Yang says awkwardly.

>"I'm just glad he didn't upchuck all over my shoes," you let out a sigh of relief as you look down at your shiny shoes.

>This might be a good time to steer the conversation in a less awkward direction.

What should you do now?

1. "Why did the two of you decide to become Huntress' anyway?"

2. "So where are the two of you from anyway?"

3. "Do you think that boy will even make it through the doors of Beacon before being turned around?"

4. "Have you two been watching the news? What's going on with all those robberies lately?"

>"So where are the two of you from anyway?" you ask in an attempt to break the awkwardness.

>"Oh, we were both actually raised on a small island west of Vale called Patch. It's also where Signal Academy is located, the same Academy where me and Ruby learned how to fight," Yang says. "How about you? Where are you from?"

>"I've lived in Vale's Upper Class District most of my life and was trained at Nova Academy," you say. Yang gives an impressed whistle.

>"Upper Class District high? Your parents must be loaded," Yang compliments.

>"Yes, my family is quire wealthy. I'm sure you've heard of Octavius Dust Supply? That's the same company my parents both run," you smile proudly.

>"You went through school to become a Huntsman rather than staying in the Upper Class District and helping with the family business?" Yang asks with a raised brow.

>"The district was wonderful and all but I think I'd rather live an exciting life than a boring one," you say.

>"I'm pretty much the same. I always wanted to just get out there and see all of Remnant. Life's too short to stay in one place," Yang put her hands behind her head and stretches.

>"Isn't Octavius Dust Supply responsible for transporting Dust to and from Vale?" Ruby asks curiously.

>"Actually yes, It's a rather risky business, but also a profitable one for those willing to take the risks," you smile again. "Though we've been running into a few problems recently, most of them involving the White Fang robbing our trains."

>"So I take it you don't care for the White Fang then?" Yang says.

What's Verdant's response?

1. "I don't see why anyone could care for those criminals."

2. "I don't care much for faunus in general. Nothing but a bunch of criminals and thieves."

3. "I'd rather refrain from speaking on the matter any further."

>"Well my parents haven't been directly harmed but we've certainly taken some financial damage in the past few years because of the White Fang. I guess that's what happens when you're partnered which the Schnee Dust Company," you shrug in an attempt to downplay it.

>"Do you think the White Fang is connected to all those robberies happening around Vale lately?" Ruby asks both of you.

>"It's possible that It's just another gang of thugs who want to sell the Dust for money, I don't know to who know. It's also possible that they're stealing the Dust for some other reason, though I later definitely is worse than the former," you say.

Option 1. We don't back down from important issues.

>"You wouldn't happen to know anything about these robberies, would you, Ruby?" you ask the girl curiously. Others might have left well enough alone but you've never been one to back down from something like this.

>"Well, uh…, I might actually been at a Dusk shop while a robbery was going on… last night," Ruby says hesitantly.

>"Wait! You were a witness to a robbery!?" your eyes widening with disbelief.

>"I also kind of beat up all the goons before a Huntress showed up," Ruby adds, a good big of pride in her voice.

>"Okay, now that's hard to believe," you shake your head skeptically. "Being a witness to a robbery is one thing, but beating up the robbers before a Huntress shows up is another."

>"It's true though! It's the whole reason I got excepted into Beacon in the first place!" Ruby insists. Her voice filled with sincerity.

>You decide to humor her story.

>"Okay, so what happened after this Huntress showed up then?" you ask.

>"Well before that the leader of the goons tried to make an escape aboard an airship. The Huntress showed up just in time to protect me from his attack before opening fire on the airship. Then this woman in a red dress with glowing eyes appeared and tried kill up with some fire, but it was no match for us before me and the Huntress just jumped out of the way and opened fire!" Ruby says with an increased air of enthusiasm about her.

>"Then what happened?" you ask, almost expecting the girl to tell you about how they fought off an army of giant robots next.

>"Well despite our best efforts to bring the airship down it managed to escape into the night. I tried asking the Huntress for an autograph but she just had me brought back to the police station for questioning," Ruby takes a breath before the big reveal. "And then Professor Ospin showed up."

>If you were drinking something right now you'd probably spin it out right then.

>"Surely you're joking," you shake your head again.

>"It's true! He even complimented my combat skills!" Ruby beams.

How does Verdant react?

1. "Well you seem to be telling the truth so I guess I'll play along, for now."

2. "That's a very absurd story, but I believe you."

3. "I trust you have some proof?"

4. "I'm sorry, Ruby, but this story is just too over the top to believe."

5. "If I wanted to hear fairy tales then I think I'd rather ask my grandmother."

6. "What can you tell me about the Huntress?"

7. "A woman with a red dress and glowing eyes? What else can you tell me about her?"

I'm torn between #2 and #7. #2 because "that's bullshit, but I believe it", and #7 because "a woman? can you sex her up?"

I'd say #2, since it's the one that helps repair bridges (even if we don't necessarily believe it completely; then again, common peasants getting beat up would make sense), and a tad more natural.

>"Well you seem to be telling the truth so I guess I'll play along, for now," you shrug.

>"Would this face ever lie to you?" Yang points to Ruby who gives you a 10/10 smile.

>"I suppose not," you sigh.

>Before anyone can speak another work the news broadcast that's been playing in the background fades away and is replaced with the image of a middle aged woman with blonde hair and beautiful green eyes hidden behind a pair of glasses.

"Hello, and welcome to Beacon!" the woman says, her pleasant greeting backed with authority.

>"Who's that?" Yang asks.

>"My name is Glynda Goodwitch," the hologram replies as if to answer the question.

>"Oh," Yang says.

>"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace," You lose you composure for a moment and let out a 'pfffft' at the statement. "-as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world."

>The hologram fades away and reveals a vast mountain range crowned with lush green trees. From the edges of the cliffs small streams break away into sparkling waterfalls which only enhance the natural beauty of Vale's boarders. For a brief moment you forget about all your mission and simply bask in the bliss of Remnant's wilderness.

>Your fellow passengers and students seem to be equally mesmerized by the view, letting out random 'Awww's and "Oooo's as the airship steadily approaches Beacon Academy. The pictures you've seen of the legendary academy have truly failed to do justice for the school which stands proudly against Remnant's sky as a sign of mankind's defiance in the face of adversity. Great towers of white brick and mortar, vast gardens of greenery, and a tall tower at it's very center.

>The airship steadily docks before the the academy. It's mechanical doors sliding open and allowing you all access to a place some can only dream of visiting. You grab your luggage and follow the crowd of students as they all approach the school through the main avenue. There are small private airships that land soon after your main airship that likely belong to other rich students who's parents didn't insist on letting them ride with the peasants, like yours. One of the ships bears the emblem of the Schnee Dust Company and immediately catches your attention.

>The airships doors open and a young girl in a white dress and almost equally white complexion steps out, her butler and luggage following closely behind.

>"Is that… Mr. Schnee's daughter!?" you say to yourself, your jaw almost dropping to the ground.

>It should come as no surprise. Only the best of the best are accepted at Beacons. It only makes sense that a Schnee would be here, but the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company?

What should you do?

-Stick with Ruby and Yang for the time being.

-Go up to the Schnee girl. Now's your chance to talk with a non-peasant!

-Leave the girls and head off on your own. You'll have time to talk later.

-See if that blonde boy made it off the ship alive.

>"Excuse me," you speak up, earning a quick glare from the girl which fades away slightly.

>"I know you. You're the heir to Octavius Dust Supply, are you not?" she asks, her voice slightly less malicious then you expected.

>"I in fact am. And you're Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company," you say while offering your hand. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Ms. Schnee."

>Weiss glares at your hand hesitantly and ultimately ignores the gesture. To your surprise she seems to lighten up a little though.

>"It's a pleasure to meet you as well. I was afraid I'd run into one of the riff raff like… him," Weiss says while pointing with a thumb to the blonde boy who's currently leaning over a garbage can, again.

>"Yes, apparently they'll let anyone into Beacon these days," you quip, earning a small and very subtle smile from the heiress.

>There's a cough from the butler who looks like he just wants to get moving.

>"Shall we?" Weiss asks.

>"It would be my pleasure," you smile back

>You and Weiss make your way along the avenue towards Beacon. Looks like you should try and break the ice with some conversation.

What should you say though?

1. "I was just joking when I said that they must be letting anyone into Beacon these days but the more I look around the more right I think I was."

2. "It's fortunate that we ran into each other. I was afraid I'd be stuck with blondy over there after what happened on the ship."

>"I'd expect nothing less from a Schnee," you say. "I myself was trained at Nova Academy in the Upper Class District of Vale and graduated at the top of my class."

>"Hmm, well hopefully we both get to see each others skills in action later. If what I've heard is true then we should be expecting a few other exceptional students this year," Weiss says.

>"Rumors?" you ask.

>"There's been talk that Pyrrha Nikos will be attending Beacon this year,"

>"Pyrrha Nikos? The 'Invincible Girl' Pyrrha Nikos?" you ask.

>"Yes, that Pyrrha Nikos," Weiss nods.

>"Sounds like it should be an interesting year then, two heirs, and a celebrated warrior all attending Beacon at the same time," you smile to yourself as you picture Weiss and Pyrrha wrapped around you like you're the damn king.

>So far so good. You're certainly doing better than you were with Yang and Ruby.

>"It is in fact," Weiss says before drawing the rapier. "It's custom made for my particular fighting style and it's cylinder is able to hold up to six Dust cartridges at a time. Simple compared to some of the other weapons out there, yet effective."

>"My weapon isn't exactly state of the art, but it's quite a beauty," you say as you open the weapon compartment on your suitcase which hisses as it open to real you halberd. "This is a High-Caliber Sniper-Halberd with a kill range of up to 800 meters. The haft of the weapon is collapsible so I can carry it around on my back and has a magazine capacity of twenty five rounds."

>While explaining this your extend the haft of the halberd to reveal its full length and might.

>"Kind of a strange weapon for an upper class student," Weiss comments.

Luckily your clothing is still wrinkle free, your shoes un-scuffed.

>"Watch where you're going!" Weiss shouts at Ruby who's eyes are still spinning with confusion.

>"Sorry! I was just kind of lost and didn't know where we're supposed to go!" Ruby apologizes.

>"Do you have any clue what you could have done? Do you have any clue how much Dust is in those cases!?" Weiss glares. "Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?"

>"Well I-" Ruby tries to speak up before getting cut off by Weiss.

>"Yeah, I heard all the students have to undergo some kind of initiation to get accepted into Beacon. Do you know what this trial entails?" you ask Weiss.

>"None of the rumors I've heard are good ones. Apparently there have been students in the past that have died trying to complete the trial," Weiss explains.

But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction."

>"You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step," Ospin finishes before stepping off the stage and letting the woman take his place in front of the microphone.

>"Yes, Ms. Schnee," you nod mechanically.

>"Good," Weiss says, her glare fading before she makes her way toward the building's exit with you following closely behind.

Well race is stuff is sort of a very common theme in RWBY. It's really the only social issue that would really appear in the cyoa since it's pretty important to Weiss and Blake's characters.

Spoiler: And the White Fang is pretty important in the plot of this story so It's pretty much unavoidable.

>"I'm more hungry than concerned about a student climbing all over the architecture. Let's go grab something to eat at the cafeteria," you say to Weiss.

>"Fine then. I think the cafeteria is this way," Weiss sighs before turning to look at the faunus girl on last time.

>"Hey. wasn't that faunus there just a second ago?" Weiss says while pointing at the structure where the faunus girl was sitting only second ago.

>"Huh, I guess we scared her off," you shrug.

>"Whatever," Weiss says before turning toward the cafeteria. "Let's go."

>You and Weiss make your way to the cafeteria, a large building made from grey brick with towering windows, very much like all the other buildings that make up Beacon's grounds. Inside the building you find a decently sized gathering of new students, some are simply chatting while others are having something to eat.

>One particular table seems to be surrounded by a small group of students, though you have no clue what they're doing until you pass by them and overhear them speaking.

>"You don't mind if I ask you for an autograph, do you, Ms. Nikos?" one boy says.

>"Hey! I spotted her first!" a girls quickly replies.

>"I'm sorry, maybe after I'm done eating?" another girl says.

>Upon looking back you see the small group disperse to reveal none other than the invincible girl herself, Pyrrha Nikos! The girls pretty face, red hair, and green eyes are pretty much a dead giveaway to anyone that's seen a box of Pumpkin Peet's cereal.

>Weiss turns her head at the mention of Pyrrha's last name and her eyes light up for the first time since you met her as she spots the celebrity.

>"That's her, Verdant! That's Pyrrha Nikos!" Weiss says as if you hadn't noticed yourself.

>"There's no mistake about that. Do you think we should go talk to her?" you ask Weiss.

>"Of course we should. I'm a Schnee after all," Weiss says, her voice laced with pride.

>You and Weiss quickly grab your food before making your way over to Pyrrha's table. Not too far away you can see Ruby and Yang sitting at a table with Juane.

What should you do?

1. "Aren't you Pyrrha Nikos?"

2. "Are you Pyrrha Nikos? The same girl on the front of the Pumpkin Pete's cereal boxes?"

3. Stick with Weiss and get to know Pyrrha is you can. Follow her lead.

4. Excuse yourself for a moment and go say hello to the two sisters quickly.

5. Go up to Ruby and apologize about what happened earlier with Weiss. Or "apologize" as best as you can.

>You follow behind Weiss closely and put on your best winning smile as Pyrrha looks up at your two.

>"It's a pleasure to meet you, Pyrrha. I am-" Weiss says before Pyrrha smile and speaks up.

>"Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company?" Pyrrha says.

>The fact that Pyrrha knows who Weiss is causes the girl to smile slightly. You wish she smiled that much when you recognized her…

>"I heard that you'd be attending Beacon Academy this year, I'm glad I had the chance to run into you on the first day," Weiss says.

>"Yeah, I've been getting that a lot," Pyrrha smiles awkwardly while rubbing the back of her head.

>The two of you take a seat across from Pyrrha who takes a sip from her cup before looking at you curiously.

>"This is Verdant Octavius, heir to Octavius Dust Supply," Weiss introduces you. "They're responsible for transporting Dust to and from Vale."

>"It's nice to meet you too, Verdant. Sorry I didn't recognize you at first," Pyrrha apologizes.

>"It's alright. You and Weiss are the real celebrities here," you say.

>"Did you enjoy the flight to Beacon Pyrrha?" Weiss asks in an attempt to stir up some conversation.

>"It was a quick fight. I moving from Mistal to Vale months before coming to Beacon so I only had to take a private aircraft from Vale straight to Beacon," Pyrrha says.

>"I wish I could say the same," you say. "My parents insisted on my taking one of the AS12's along with the other students."

>"I guess it wasn't a pleasant flight then?" Pyrrha asks.

>"Someone threw up the whole way," you state bluntly while pointing at the blonde haired boy a few tables away.

>"That's a shame, he seems… nice," Pyrrha says, looking at the boy with a strange misty look in her eyes.

>You and Weiss both look at each other with raised brows at Pyrrha's comment.

>"Aaaany way…," you speak up. "Do you know how the team system works here at Beacon, Pyrrha?"

>"I hear that each team of composed of four individuals, actually," Pyrrha explains.

>"Is that so? How would you feel about being on a team with me, Pyrrha?" Weiss asks as if you're not there.

>"I think that sounds grand!" Pyrrha says.

>"Great! Now we just need to find two more people," Weiss says.

>"Typical," you think.

What should Verdant do?

1. "Do we get to choose our team mates though? Or do we get stuck with a bunch of random students?"

2. "Have you heard any rumors about the initiation, Pyrrha?"

3. *cough* "I'm sure there's someone nearby that would make a great addition to your team." *cough*

>"I'm sure there's someone nearby that would make a great addition to your team," you say gesture toward yourself with a hint of humor.

>"Don't worry, I'm more than capable when it comes to combat," you grin.

>"We'll certainly see come tomorrow," Weiss adds.

>The three of you engage in idle chatter as you finish your meals, not once looking up at the clock or engaging the other students with conversation or even a sideways glace. Your chest is filled with a warm feeling as you realize that you're sitting at the popular kids table with Mistral's greatest warrior and an heiress to a multi lien business empire. It almost reminds you of your time back at Nova Academy with your best friends.

>Curiously, you look up at the clock and notice that it's ten past five. Most of the students have left the cafeteria, save for a small group of rather rough looking boys who look more like thugs than future Huntsmen.

>"Oh my! Look at the time!" Pyrrha says after looking up at the cafeteria clock. "We should probably head to the ballroom and get ready for lights out."

>"Indeed. I need to make sure all my luggage is still safe," Weiss says, standing up to join Pyrrha.

>You follow Pyrrha and Weiss to the ballroom where most of the students have already gathers. The floor of the building, while absolutely covered in bed rolls still has enough room for a few dozen more students to sleep to your great relief. You still have some strong reservations about sleeping on the floor of all place.

>After finding a nice corner of the building to leave your case and unrolled bed, you look around and spot a few familiar face. On the other side of the room, on the girls half, you see Ruby and Yang laying down on the bed rolls talking about girls stuff or something. A few yards away from them is Weiss who was fortunate enough to get to sleep next to Pyrrha. Sitting on a seat a few yards away from Ruby is a girl with black hair and bow reading a book who seems to be pretty absorbed in the story. Finally, you see that same hyperactive pink girl from the airship chatting up the same raven haired boy in the green tailcoat. Are those together or something?

What should you do?

1. Go talk with Weiss and Pyrrha.

2. See how Ruby and Yang are doing.

>"Hey, Verdant! I heard about what happened in front of the school with my sister." Yang smiles. "Thanks for looking out for her while I was with my friend."

>"It was nothing. I'd hate to see Ruby or Weiss' luggage get hurt," you smile back.

>"Who's Weiss?" Yang raises a brow.

>"She's another girl I ran into, she's actually the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, a company that my families is partnered with," you explain.

>Yang gets a cheeking look on her face before continuing.

>"Verdant! I didn't know you were so good with the ladies," Yang grins up at you.

>"Well I do have my fathers looks," you boast.

>"Soooo, what did you and Weiss get up to then?" Yang prods.

>"We were just walking around the school and getting to know the grounds. Nothing serious," you say.

>"Run into any other interesting people while you?" Yang asks.

>"Well we both saw this faunus girl climbing a part of the school, before we could say anything she just vanished though," you say.

>"Vanished? Just like that?" Yang asks.

>"Yup," you nod. "It was like she was never there."

>"Creepy," Yang says in a slightly exaggerated spooky voice. "Ruby actually ran into that boy from the airship soon after you saved her from that luggage cart."

>"You mean the one who was throwing up everywhere?" you ask.

>"That's the one!" Yang nods.

>"His name is actually Juane," Ruby speaks up. "He was actually pretty nice despite that incident on the ship."

>Yang gives Ruby and sisterly hug causing Ruby to make choking noises in protest.

>"See, Ruby! You've already made yourself one new friend!" Yang teases.

>Ruby seems to be more interested then Yang who appears to be uninterested in the book premise.

>"Yang used to read me stories when we were both little. Stories about heroes and monsters," Ruby says. "I guess you could say that they're part of the reason why I wanted to become a Huntress."

>Blake's face turn from a slight smile to a subtly sad expression.

>"And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?" Blake asks.

>"Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books… Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!" Ruby nods with a smile.

>"That's… very ambitious for a child. Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale," Blake says sadly.

>"So you did recognize me? Was it my stunning good looks?" you ask jokingly.

>"No," Blake says bluntly with a roll of her amber eyes. "I've seen you on the news a few times with your parents. Your company might not be the Schnee Dust Company, but it's still one of the most recognized businesses in Vale."

>Though Blake just told you something you already knew, it's still nice to get recognition for your families accomplishments. Though she doesn't seem to think of Octavius Dust Supply the same as she does Schnee Dust Company.

>"What do you think about Schnee Dust Company then?" you ask.

>Blake's express changes from relatively friendly to a somewhat hostile one. You get the feeling you're about to get a ear full.

>"I don't think very highly of them," Blake states. "I shouldn't have to tell you that the Schnee Dust Company is infamous for their controversial labor forces and questionable business partners?"

>"Excuse me?" you narrow you eyes.

>"You're aware that the Schnee Dust Company overworks and underpays its employees who work in their mines and refineries, especially their faunus employees?" Blake says.

>While you certainly heard these statistics brought up before, your parents always insisted that they were either fabricated or inflated to support the political agenda of the White Fang, this is something else thought. Never before has someone spoken ill of your ODS or with the companies its partnered with right in front of you, as if you weren't even an Octavius.

What should Verdant say?

1. "I suppose you're right about the Schnee Dust Company. My parents have always tried to remain an ethical and respected company throughout the years."

2. "Are you calling my family's business questionable?"

3. "I doubt the Schnee Dust Company's heiress would like hearing that." *gesture to Weiss*

>"Looks like it's going to be lights out soon," Ruby says to both you and Yang.

>"Well, Ruby, Yang, Verdant, it's a pleasure to have met you, but I'm going to get back to my book before lights out," Blake smiles at the three of you.

>"It was nice meeting you too," Ruby smiles back at Blake.

>You follow Ruby and Yang back to the bed rolls, along the way you notice that Weiss is currently staring at you. Looks like she saw the conversation you had with Blake and is curious as to why you're hanging around Ruby, the same girl that almost damaged her precious luggage.

What should you do?

>You decide that you'd better go and talk with Weiss since she's probably wondering why you were hanging out with the girl that nearly crashed her luggage cart this morning. Don't want her getting the wrong idea after all.

>Upon approaching Weiss and Pyrrha you receive a cold stare from Weiss who was just about to settle into bed.

>"What exactly were you doing hanging around with the girl from this morning?" Weiss asks accusingly.

>"I was just talking with Ruby and her sister, nothing else," you say.

>"Well you should be more careful about who you're seen with at Beacon. Someone might get the wrong idea," Weiss huffs lightly.

>"I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I guess it's going to be lights out soon. I thought I'd say goodnight to you two before tomorrow," you smile at the two girls.

>"It was nice meeting you, Verdant. I hope we get the chance to talk before our initiation tomorrow," Pyrrha says.

>"Yes, I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to talk at breakfast tomorrow," Weiss says before looking at you. "See you in the morning, Verdant."

>Weiss seems slightly colder than she was earlier, though you're sure that she'll be fine by tomorrow. After bidding two of the most popular girls in school a good night you make your way over to your bed roll, stopping to with Ruby and Yang a good night before sliding into your comfy bed. As the lights in the ballroom dim you look out a nearby window at Remnant's cracked room and feel sleep slowly take you.

~~ Tuesday Morning: The Initiation ~~

>After a good nights sleep, you awaken just in time to catch the sun rising brightly in the east. Its rays stretch long and far across Vale toward the edge of Beacon's mountain precipice, along the academy's main avenue up to the very peak of the school's highest tower. You smile as you realize that this is just the start of a long journey towards becoming a Huntsman and making a name for yourself, a name you'll earn for yourself and not one given through right of birth.

>Behind you lay the sleeping bodies of your fellow students, yet to rise. One of the few students is the fair Weiss Schnee who is still dressed in her white sleeping gown. Weiss rises from her sleeping roll and makes her way to the nearby change room before disappearing from view without acknowledging any of the other students.

>You opt to get changed yourself and make your way to the boys change room with your regular uniform in hand. Once dressed, you make you way to the cafeteria where you see both Weiss and Pyrrha sitting at the same table together. Ruby and Yang are sitting at another table a few paces away from the two, Ruby bearing an aura of anticipation and excitement to rival than of her older sister. You can also see Blake sitting in a corner by herself reading her book all by herself.

>Somethign about the cafeteria is different though, there are many more students that you never saw while aboard the air ship. Looks like the veteran students have come to join all the new students for breakfast.

What shall you do after grabbing your breakfast.

1. Go sit with Weiss and Pyrrha.

2. Sit with Ruby and Yang. Though Weiss might not care for it.

3. Walk up to Blake and say 'hello'.

4. See if any of the other students are interested and having breakfast with you. Might as well mingle while you got the chance.

>The wait in the lunch line is rather short since most of the students have already eaten at this point. You take your tray and make you way to the table where both Weiss and Pyrrha are sitting.

>"Morning, Verdant!" Pyrrha smiles as you sit opposite to both Weiss and her.

>"Are you two ready for your initiation?" you ask.

>"I've been training for this day," Weiss smiles before taking a sip from her glass.

>Looks like Weiss has cooled off since last night judging by her tone.

>"I'm sure I'll do fine. I'm more worried about some of the other students though," Pyrrha says.

>"You mean like that Juane guy?" you say before attempting to point towards him only to notice that he's not even present. "Where is he anyway?"

>Behind you there is a series of laughs which cause you to turn your head, though you soon regret letting your curiosity get the better of you. In the doorway leading into the cafeteria is Juane, the same blonde boy from the airship. In a onesie.

>Juane awkwardly makes his way toward the cafeteria line as the students, both new and old, begin to laugh uproariously at the display.

>"Tell me when it's over," you say as you bury your face in your hands.

>"This can't be happening," Weiss looks away.

>The laughter slowly dies down as Juane makes his way over to Ruby and Yang's table and takes a seat a few paces away from them. Most of the students have gone back to eating and talking while occasionally looking over at the supposed future Huntsman.

>"He looks kind of lonely. Maybe we should-" Pyrrha says before getting cut off by Weiss.

>"Not happening," Weiss says firmly, not once looking in Juane's direction.

What should you say?

1. "What was being home schooled like, Weiss?"

2. "So, how was your time at Sanctum, Pyrrha?"

3. "Why on earth is he dressed like that? Is that his combat gear or something?"

4. "I think I agree with Pyrrha. We should invite Juane over to our table. At the very least for our amusement."

5. "So… Did you have many friends back at Sanctum, Pyrrha?"

>You make your way over to Ruby and Yang's table where the two are currently having an animated conversation about random things. Ruby is the first of the two to notice you followed by Yang who waves you over.

>"Morning, Verdant!" Ruby smiles at you.

>"Morning, Ruby. You're looking lively this morning," you comment.

>"Well I am pretty excited for the initiation today. I've been waiting for this day my entire life!" Ruby beams.

>"Yeah, history… that's cool. I guess…," Yang says awkwardly.

>"Are we the only people you've talked to at Beacon?" Ruby asks curiously.

>"Yes," Blake says with a small sigh.

>"It's cool! My sister Ruby was having a little trouble opening up to others yesterday too. I'm sure you'll make some more friends at Beacon!" Yang leans on Ruby.

>The cafeteria goes silent causing you to turn around and see what caused the sudden change in atmosphere. You see Glynda Goodwitch slowly make her way into the dining hall before coming to a stop and addressing the student body with that same authoritative voice.

>"All new students are to follow me to the locker room to prepare for their initiation. Your locker number is indicated on your acceptance letter from Beacon Academy and will remain the same throughout your stay at Beacon," Glynda says before slowly making her way out of the cafeteria.

>You and the other first year students follow Glynda across the campus to yet another large building, the interior of which is lined on all sides by large metal lockers, each is labeled with three digit numbers which indicate which one belongs to who. The acceptance letter you received says that your locker is labeled 635, a locker that is located relatively close to Weiss and Pyrrha's, very convenient location.

>As you're setting up your locker and memorizing the code for it you hear a familiar nasally voice behind you. Looks like Jaune actually managed to find his way to the locker room.

>"It says my locker number is 636 but I can't seem to find the darn thing!" the blonde boy whines as he struggles to find his illusive locker.

>"636!? But my locker number is 63-" before you can finish the thought you hear Jaune's voice once again behind you.

Sitting on the other side of the room is a horned faunus girl, the very same girl from yesterday still dressed in the same white clothing. This time you're actually able to get a good look at her and notice two things about her that you didn't before. Upon her wrists are who silvery bands of thick metal that appear to be her weapons. The second thing you notice are the girls misty violet eyes which seem to stare endlessly off into space.

What should you do?

1. Go talk with Weiss and Pyrrha.

2. Talk with Ruby and Yang.

3. See if the faunus girl is willing to talk.

4. Try to find Blake and maybe talk a little.

5. Go talk to Jaune some more.

>As you approach the girl looks up at your with her bright violet eyes before speaking with her soft voice.

>"Do you need something?" she asks with her misty voice.

>"I just wanted to say 'hello' to you. I think I saw you yesterday looking at the moon," you say.

>"Yes, I remember. You were the one walking with that other girl, yes?" the girl asks.

>"I was," you nod. "My name is Verdant Octavius, and you are?"

>"Isis Astra," the girl say, her voice lacking any emotion as she turns her head to look off into space.

>"Uhhh… so what combat school did you go to before being accepted into Beacon?" you ask in a vain attempt to keep the conversation alive.

>"I didn't have the chance to attend an actual combat school since my family lives in a small village outside of Vale. My mother was actually the one who taught my how to hunt, how to fight," Iris says, not once looking up at you.

>"Outside of Vale? Like in the wilderness? Wasn't it dangerous?" you ask is disbelief.

>"We were just a small group who preferred to keep to ourselves and out of sight, the Grimm didn't really bother us much since they never saw us," Iris explains.

>"Never saw you?" you raise a brow.

>"Yes. We hid in the trees and blended in with the brush so well that the Grimm wouldn't notice us most of the time," Isis says.

>Iris seems to be pretty mysterious. You've heard of tribes of people living outside of the city walls but you've never actually met one of these people before.

What should Verdant do?

1. "What else can you tell me about life outside of Vale?"

2. "Was there a reason you were looking up at the moon yesterday?"

3. "It must be strange being around city folk like this. Have they been giving you any trouble?"

4. "Were all of the people in your village faunus?"

5. Excuse yourself and go talk with Weiss and Pyrrha.

6. Excuse yourself and go talk with Ruby and Yang.

7. Excuse yourself and maybe find Blake.

8. Go sit by your locker until the initiation begins. No sense bothering this girl any further.

>"Very well," Iris smiles.

>As you and the other students gather and begin to make your way towards Beacon Cliff, Weiss approaches you with a curious look on her face.

>"Was that the girl from yesterday you were talking to? Did you find out what she was doing?" Weiss asks.

>"Apparently she likes looking at the moon," you shrug.

>"That's hardly an excuse for climbing all over Beacon like it's a play ground," Weiss shakes her head. "That's not really important right now. We're finally going to begin our initiation!"

>For the first time Weiss is actually showing some impressive enthusiasm.

>You, Weiss, and Pyrrha follow the crowd of students along the worn cobblestone path through a small green forest which leads you to a clearing at the edge of Beacon Cliff where both Glynda Goodwitch and Professor Ozpin are patiently waiting for everyone.

>A small group of students including you, Weiss, Pyrrha, Jaune, Ruby, Yang, and some other students are instructed to take your places on a series of metal launching platforms before Professor Ozpin address you all.

>"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest," Professor Ozpin says.

>Glynda then takes a step forward and addresses you all next.

>"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates… today," Glynda says firmly.

>There's a brief pause as some of the students groan at the revelation.

>"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well," Ozpin continues.

>There are a few more moans among the students.

>"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years," Ozpin says, casually taking a sip from his coffee mug.

>The reactions among the students are mixed. Some of the students are shocked by Ozpin's words, some students seem to have expected this shocking revelation, the rest seem more than confident that they'll end up with the right person. You're not quite sure what to make if it though. Why would they assign students at random like this? Could this be yet another test?

>"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path… or you will die," Ozpin continues after everyone has had the chance to digest his words.

>You feel your heart sink slightly at the thought of dying today. Ozpin's words have now just confirmed all those rumors you've heard about students not surviving the initiation.

>"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?" Ozpin asks.

>Jaune is the only one to raise his hand. "Uhh, actually…"

>"Good!" Ozpin says. "Now, take your positions."

>Everyone takes their positions on the launching platforms and prepare to be sent skywards, everyone except for Jaune that is. The blonde boy seems to be rather confused about what is about to happen, he doesn't seem to understand what a landing strategy is either.

>A few moments after taking your positions a few of the students are launched into the air towards the Emerald Forest, including Iris, Blake, and Weiss. You soon follow as the platform under you shifts and catapults you upwards, following closely behind the other airborne students. There's a shrill girly scream from behind you as Jaune is shot into the air closely following Ruby and Yang.

>Looks like Jaune is about to become the first casualty of the day…

>Turning your focus away from the other students, you draw your halberd and extend the weapon to its rifle mode and point the weapon ahead of you. Your momentum begins to slow as you use the kickback from your weapon to reduce the rate at which you're currently falling, a very basic, yet effective landing strategy you learned back at Nova Academy.

>As you descend towards the Emerald Forest's canopy, you transforming your halberd back into its melee form and quickly hack away at the greenery below you with the help of your Semblance. The opening you create is a perfect fit and allows you passage through without much issue, save for a hair or two out of place. Taking your halberd once more, you stab the business end into a nearby tree trunk before performing a quick flip as you withdraw the blade from the tree. You repeat this process throughout the final stage of your decent until you've finally reduced your momentum enough for a dramatic landing.

>You plant both your feet and left hand upon the ground while holding your halberd behind you in a dramatic crouching pose before rising rising slowly. Planting your weapon into the earth, you brush a few leaves from your suit and smile at the successful landing.

>As you take in your surrounding you see that you're in a small clearing, the sky above you is almost completely blocked by the thick green canopy hanging above you, not counting the opening your just made though. The sound of gunfire can be heard above you as the other students make their way towards the Emerald Forest.

What should you do now?

1. Make your way north. You'll probably run into another student along the way.

2. Find somewhere high up where you can get a better view of the forest and possible see where Weiss landed.

3. Call out to the other students and hope someone will come to you. It's dangerous to walk around here without someone watching your back.

The following pic is of Verdant's dramatic pose. I hope my description did it justice:

>You look around and spot a outstretched branch which would make an excellent vantage point. With a mighty leap you land on the long branch and transform your weapon into its scoped rifle form in hopes of getting an even better long distance view of your current location.

>Looking out over the emerald canopy; you spot several falling students making their landing in the distance. Unfortunately, none of them are Weiss Schnee as far as you can tell.

>As you continue to scan over the Emerald Forest you see two objects come rushing overhead. One is large and could easily be mistaken for a cannon ball as it comes crashing through canopy several yards away, decimating everything in its path. The second object is merely a streak of white that seems to jump across the tops of the trees before disappearing below the canopy.

>Looks like two students have made their landings pretty close to you. The graceful white one is most likely Weiss judging by how it moved.

What should you do?

1. Check out the impact zone that first student made.

2. Make your way towards the place where the white blur landed.

>You leap down from your vantage point and quickly make your way through the foliage, trying your best not to get covered in burrs or soil your shoes with mud. Pushing a branch to the side, you come upon a small glade dotted with beautiful flowers of varying colors. The area looks like it hasn't been walked upon by humans or grimm in a very long time. As you make your way further into the glade you fail to sense the presence of any of the other students or even other animals.

>There's a sudden rustling just out of the corner of your eye that just about causes you to jump out of you skin in surprise. From within a nearby cluster of bushes you spot a pair of glowing purple eyes staring out at you. Without a moments hesitation you draw your weapon and ready yourself for battle.

>"Verdant?" a small voice speaks up.

>"Huh!? Who's there!?" you shout toward the bushes.

>There's a faint flash of purple as Iris steps out from the bushes with that same smile on her face which fills you with a small degree of relief.

>"I thought you were a Grimm!" you chuckle as you lower your weapon.

>"Sorry if I scared you. I wasn't planning on revealing myself like this but you made eye contact with me. I guess that makes us partners then?" Iris asks while cocking her head slightly to the left.

>"I guess so…," you sigh.

>"Is something the matter?" Iris frowns.

>"No, It's just that I thought you might be my friend Weiss, that's all," you say.

>Before Iris can speak; the two of you hear a rustling from some nearby bushes followed by a fearsome growl. Yet another pair of glowing eyes is staring out at the two of you, though these ones are red and menacing instead of violet and innocent.

>Your eyes widen with fear as a decently sized Beowolf steps out from the brush bearing its long claws and dagger-like teeth with beastly fury. Iris is quick to ready her two weapons, a pair of wrist mounted automatic mini-crossbows that she raises to the monster with a oddly tranquil look in her eyes. Looks like the fear of death doesn't even phase this faunus.

What should you do?

1. Lunge forward and use your Semblance the land a quick killing blow on the monster!

2. Have Iris flank the monster from behind while you attack from the front!

3. Shoot the Beowolf in the leg to slow it down!

>Iris simply nods, not once taking her calm eyes off of the Grimm. The faunus girl quickly leaps over the monster with inhuman might and performs a midair flip before raining bolts down on the beast from behind. The arrows strike the Grimm in the back causing it to turn its attention towards Iris. This gives you enough time to close the distance between you and the Beowolf.

>You charge forward and run your weapon through the beasts back causing it to let out a painful howl before falling over onto the ground. As the creatures body begins to slowly evaporate before your eyes, you turn to your partner and smile.

>"Not bad," you compliment.

>Before Iris can respond her ears begin to twitch and the girl turns her head to the left where two more Beowolves are emerging from the brush. Looks like the first Beowolf's death cry was a call for support.

>You quickly switch your halberd back into it's melee form and lunge towards the injured Beowolf. The stab attack misses the Grimm which simply sways to the side to avoid your attack.

>The Beowold turns it's attention towards you and hits you with the back side of it's claw, almost knocking you off balance with the attack. Luckily your aura absorbs most of the attack.

>Iris opens fire on the injured Beowolf with her crossbows and manages to land a few shots which permanently put the beast out of the fight. The uninjured Beowolf looks over at you and takes a quick swipe at you which is easily dodged.

What shall you do?

1. Lunge at the Grimm with your halberd.

2. Attack the Beowolf's legs with your halberd and maybe slow it down.

3. Pull back and snipe the monster.

4. Make a quick retreat while Iris peppers the Beowolf with arrows.

>After dodging the uninjured Bewolf's claw attack you decide to fall back before making your next move. You easily outmaneuver the Grimm as you partner Iris slows the beast down with a few quick shots from her crossbows. Though none of the shots are fatal, they're certainly going to leave the Beowolf in a compromised state.

>Once you're far out of the beasts range you switch your halberd into it's rifle form and manage to shoot the Grimm in the shoulder. The shot staggers it just long enough for Iris to rush in and land the killing blow with a well placed roundhouse kick to the side of the Beowolf's head.

>Iris stands victoriously over the Grimm and casually reloads her crossbows before twitching them back into their gauntlet forms. The faunus turns to face you with a small smile which seems to imply that she's glad you're alright.

>"We should get going before more decide to show up," Iris says.

>"Yeah, probably a good idea," you say as you collapse your halberd and sling it over your back.

>You and Iris leave the small forgotten glade and make your way North in hopes of finding the temple as well as other students along the way. As you walk, you can hear the sound of gunfire and explosions in the distance as the other students fight their way towards the same goal. Though you fail to actually encounter your fellow students, you do find the evaporating remains of slain Grimm as well as plenty of collateral damage. The sight of the broken tree bows and burnt greenery seems to visibly upset Iris.

>"Are you okay?" you ask Iris as she looks over a once proud tree, now broken and burnt.

>"Yes…," Iris sighs as she takes a broken branch in her hand. "I simply morn for the forest."

>"What do you mean? It's just a bunch of trees," you say rather callously.

>"They're more than just things. Tree, plants, the earth, they all have aura in them, even if most people don't sense it," Iris places a hand on the ground. "Some people just don't take the time to notice."

>Before you can say anything there is a loud crash in the distance followed by a deep roar. It sounds like some students are engages in combat just beyond the bushes.

What shall you do?

1. Follow the sound of battle. Maybe the students are in trouble?

2. Ignore the struggle and head Northwards with Iris. You're sure the other students can look after themselves just fine.

3. Sneak through the brush and see if you can catch a glimpse of the struggle.

>"Did you hear that?" you ask Iris.

>"It sounds like some students have encountered an Ursa," Iris responds.

>"An Ursa? Are you sure about that?" you ask.

>"I recognize that roar from my time living on the outskirts of Vale. There's no mistake about it," Iris nods.

>"I want to check it out and see who's fighting with it then. It might be Weiss and Pyrrha for all I know," you say.

>Iris nods and follows you into the brush closely behind. Despite being only a few feet behind you, Iris is hardly making a sound, it's almost like she isn't even there. Curiously you turn your head to see if Iris is still following you only to be met with a horrible revelation. Iris is there.

>"Iris!?" you rasp, trying your best to no attract the attention of any Grimm. "Iris!? Where are you!?"

>There isn't any response. Only the sound of Ursa roars and gunshots in the distance.

>"You've got to be kidding me…," you shake your head before deciding to carry on without the faunus. You've been partnered with the girl for a day and she'll already abandoned you in a Grimm infested forest.

>You slowly make your way through the shrubbery to a small clearing much like that last one, though this one is in much damaged and echoes with the uproarious boasting from one of the students you find there. A student that's currently standing proudly before an angry Ursa.

>"Ha! You really thought two of you would be enough for Edread King!?" the boy with the dark blonde hair shouts at the Grimm as he points his bastard sword at the beast with a grin on his face.

>The student is dressed in a long red tunic adorned a symbol resembling a rook with a crown. His shoulders and legs are guarded with random plates and strips of chain mail that also bear the same rook symbol. A few paces away from Edread is that same huge boy you saw aboard the airship with the likeness of a shaved bear. That boy is sitting on top of a remains of a dead Ursa and is simply watching Edread boast at the Ursa.

>The Ursa roars before bounding towards Edread and taking a mighty swipe at the knight who simply steps to the side and takes a swing at the monster with his sword. The blade cuts through the Ursa's forearm and leaves nothing cut a stump where it's massive claws used to be.

>"Why don't you crawl back to your cave while you still have a head?" the Edread mocks.

>The Ursa roars once more before take another swipe at the boy with it's remaining paw which misses yet again. Edread grins once more before plunging the tip of his sword through the Grimm's skull, killing it instantly. Edread looks down upon the monster triumphantly as he places his boot against it's head and yanks the blade free.

>"Come along, Balder. We have a temple to find," Edread says with a twirl and a grin.

>The large boy stands up and joins his partner who sheath his sword over his back. It looks like the two boys are done here.

What should you do?

>As the two students make their way north, you turn your attention back towards finding Iris who still seems to be missing.

>"Iris!? Where are you!?" you call out quietly.

>"I'm right here," a voice replies from above you.

>You look up and see Iris jump down from the green canopy above you and land just a few feet away from you. The girl stands up, her eyes flashing violet as she does.

>"Where did you go?" you ask.

>"I was staying out of sight," Iris says innocently.

>"Fine. Just don't disappear like that again. I thought you ditched me for a second," you say.

>As you and Iris make your way Northwards, you notice that the sound of gunfire has stopped and has been replaced with dead silence.

>"Why is it so quiet?" you as Iris.

>"The presence of the Grimm has scared them off. Grimm don't usually pay any attention to animals, but they tend to become silent whenever Grimm are nearby," Iris says.

>Before you can say anything there is a sharp cry that breaks the silence over the forest followed by a colossal shadow that blocks out the sun. Several miles above you is the massive shape of a Nevermore, one of the largest and most dangerous of the creatures of Grimm. The monsters fearsome cries send chills through your body like the sound of nails on a chalkboard.

>"What is it doing?" you ask as the creature circles overhead without acknowledging you or Iris.

>"It appears to be perusing some other students," Iris says calmly. "We should stick to the shade where it is less likely to spot us."

>"That's probably a good idea," you nod.

>You and Iris sneak into the protective shade of the Emerald Forest and watch as the Nevermore turns Northwards and sails off into the distance at a quickened pace. Iris seems to think that the monster is closing in on whatever it's hunting. Just when you're about to leave the shade you feel Iris' hand on your shoulder.

>"Wait. There's something coming this way," she says quietly.

>You duck back down into the shrubbery and hear four voices approaching from the north, though you're not sure who the voices belong to until their owners are within full view. A group of four troublesome looking boys lead by a large gorilla looking boy with a mace swung casually over his broad shoulder. You recognize the leader as the same one from the Beacon cafeteria, though you can't put a name to his arrogant face.

>Each of the boys is carrying a small chess piece in their hands as they casually make their way towards the launch site. Your best guess is that the things they're carrying are the items you've all been sent to collect, though you're not sure how these four got them so quickly. At least you have an idea of what you're looking for now.

What should you do?

1. Let the boys pass before continuing your journey North.

2. Leave the bushes and ask them about the chess pieces they're carrying.

3. Exit the bushes and walk past them like you don't even care. You have no time for these plebeians.

4. Start shaking the bushes and making monster noises. Scaring these apes might be amusing at the very least.

>You casually strut out of cover in plain view of the four students who look at each other in confusion. The leader of the groups glares at you for a second before he spots Iris exiting the bushes right behind you.

>"Well well well. Getting some quality time with your girlfriend, pretty boy?" the ape mocks you, his friends snickering from behind his back.

>"Excuse me?" you glare at the leader.

>"Well, It's just that didn't expect someone like you would be into freaks like her," the students points at Iris.

>"What is he talking about, Verdant?" Iris asks innocently.

>"I don't know what you're talking about. We simply ran into each other and now we're partners," you say.

>"Riiiiight. Like I'm that stupid," he laughs as he walks past you with his goons following closely behind. "Watch out pretty boy. There are some scary Grimm up ahead that might get your shoes dirty."

>"Whatever," you shake his insult off. "Try not to get lost on the way back to the launch site."

>The leader glares at you for a second and looks like he's actually considering hitting you before remembering that Ozpin is monitoring the entire thing initiation.

>"Lets go," he growls to the three others.

>The four students make their way South, not once looking back at you two as they disappear into the forest.

>"What did he mean by 'quality time'?" Iris asks?

>"Nothing. Let's just find those relics and get out of here," you say, trying your best to hide your embarrassment as you march Northwards with Iris following closely behind.

>The forest begins to slowly thin as you follow the path made by the four goons until you come upon a small open field where you spot both Edread and his partner Balder once again. The two are standing in the shade on the edge of the woods and appear to be trying to get a better sense of direction. As you and Iris approach the pair, Edread turns his head and spots you approaching.

>"Greetings!" Edread waves. "We were wondering when we'd run into the other students!"

>"We're the first you've run into?" you ask as you and Iris approach the two.

>"Indeed. We've run into a fair share of Grimm but nary a student to be seen," Edread places a hand upon his chin. "I'd wager that the bulk of the students are a ways ahead of us."

>"That's probably what the Nevermore we saw earlier was hunting," you nod.

>"You saw the Nevermore as well? Frightful sight that demon. I can only hope that the others are able to outmaneuver it," the boy says.

>While you and Edread are exchanging words, you feel Iris' hand on your shoulder.

>"Look," Iris points to the other side of the field as three large Ursa emerge from the shrubbery.

>"I think me and my friend here can handle the two on the right. You can have a big one of the left," Edread smiles as he draws his swords.

What shall you do?

1. Engage in melee combat with the Ursa with Iris as your second.

2. Use your rifle to snipe the Ursa from far away.

3. Have Iris sneak attack the Ursa and wait for an opening to stab it.

>While your target is down, both Edread and Balder make their move against the two other Ursa. Edread delivers two quick slashes to the Ursa's face before leaping back and allowing Balder to deliver a devastating haymaker to the beast's jaw causing it to fall over onto it's side.

>"Let's rush the Ursa while it's still in pain," you say to Iris. The faunus girl gives you a simple nod before the two of you charge at the wounded Ursa.

>You switch your weapon back into it's halberd form as you and Iris leap into the air at the same time. Iris fires a volley of arrows down upon the Grimm while you plunge the business end of your halberd into the Ursa's back. Despite the good timing of the attack, you and Iris collide mid-air and become intertwined before crashing a few yard behind the slain Ursa.

>Once your head stops spinning, you notice that your left hand is cupping something rather soft and strangely familiar. Though you're not able to put a name to it right away until you get up and look down at what you're grabbing. You feel you face turn a deep scarlet as you get up and realize that you're laying on top of Iris, cupping one of her breasts in your hand.

>Normally you'd expect a girl who just had her breast grabbed without permission to slap you right across that face, but Iris seems just as stoic as ever, maybe even a little confused.

>"Are you okay, Verdant? You look very red," Iris says in her usual misty tone.

>"Nothing! I'm fine!" you say as you withdraw your hand from Iris' boob before looking away bashfully.

>Behind the two of you lay the smoking remains of the Ursa that you slew before ending up this very awkward position. From behind the slain Ursa you hear a weak roar followed by a sickening crack as Edread and Balder finish off the second Ursa.

>"A fine little scrap," Edread comments as he sheathes his sword before calling to you and Iris. "Are the two of you alright? You took quite the tumble!"

>You quickly get to your feet and dust yourself off as Edread steps over the dead Ursa victoriously. Iris soon does the same, albeit much more gracefully.

>"It's nothing. I've had worse," you insist.

>"Really? You look a little red…," Edread observes.

>"I'm just a little hot, that's all," you say.

>"Fair enough. Shall we make our way to the temple then?" he asks.

>"Yes. I'll be glad once we're out of this forest," you say before collapsing your halberd and hooking it to your back.

>The canopy of the Emerald Forest seems to stretch on forever in ever possible direction making it nearly impossible to locate the temple from ground level. In the distance you can see a small cliff that reaches just above the treeline and might allow you to get a better view of the area.

What should you do?

1. Get a better view from the top of the cliff. You might even be able to spot Weiss and the other from up there.

2. Keep heading North and hope you come upon the temple.

Option #2 requires you guys to roll to see if you can get to the temple and not get lost.

For specificity, I don't want this to turn into one of those silly harem-ecchi series where we focus entirely on the lewd. Sprinkle it throughout, have it be something special, make us work for it. Make it a surprise event when we least expect it, THAT'S when the lewd gets fun. If we all expect it, it's still great, but a bit less of a fun surprise.

>"See that cliff?" you point. "We could use it to get a better vantage point and find out where exactly this temple is located."

>"An except idea! Let's get moving!" Edread agrees.

>You and your group of four make your way towards the peak of the small cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest. The cliff itself seem to rise awkwardly from the floor of the forest at a 34 degree angle and is composed of a dark sandstone topped with a tangle of thick vines that slow your assent slightly. At the peak you are able to see well above the forest's canopy in every conceivable direction; you're even able to see the launch site just South of your current position.

>Looking Northwards, you spot a shadow hovering over the forest about 150 yards away that proves to be the ominous form of the Nevermore you saw. You raise your sniper rifle and look through the scope just in time to see the Grimm extend it's wings forward and launch a volley of feathers down upon a small valley. Within this valley you're able to spot a structure of stone columns surrounding a small platform of stone.

>"Looks like that's the temple," you say. "I think some of our fellow students are in trouble."

>Before you can turn to face your comrades, the cliff begins to violently shake and just about knocks the four of you off. You quickly regain your balance as a angry hissing sound echoes from bellow you and a series of red glowing eyes stair up at you.

>Looks like the cliff isn't really a cliff after all.

What shall you do?

1. Make a mad dash for the temple. No sense fighting this thing now.

2. Regroup at the foot of the "cliff" and prepare for battle.

3. Stab your halberd into one of the monster's many eyes and maybe blind it.

4. Grab onto a part of the monster and hand on tight.

>You transform you sniper rifle into it's halberd form before taking it in both hands and stabbing it deeply into one of the monster's glowing eyes. The "cliff" under your feet begins to shake more violently as you twist the embedded blade before withdrawing it and looking back at your party.

>"The temple's this way! Follow me!" you shout back at them before collapsing your weapon and sheathing it on your back once again.

>You run to the edge of the cliff and perform a dramatic forward flip followed by a dramatic three-point landing. The other party members follow closely behind, Iris landing gracefully on the tips of her toes, Edread finishing his landing with a roll, and Balder landing solidly on both his feet with a mighty crash. The party breaks into a sprint towards the canopy of the Emerald Forest and only once looks back to behold the horror that you've awoken, a very angry, and partially blind Death Stalker of impressive size with massive claws as well as a glowing stinger.

>"As if the beast wasn't mad enough! Now it's wounded and out for blood!" Edread shouts as the party charges through the forest.

>"Less talking, more running!" you shout back at the knight.

>The four of you make your way through the thick brush of the Emerald Forest with the wounded Death Stalker in hot pursuit. The Grimm seems to brush aside ancient trees with it's massive legs like they were brittle saplings as it clenches it's serrated claws together in a vice-like grip. Overhead the cawing of the dreadful Nevermore can be heard far in the distance as it continues to give chase to it's anonymous prey. Judging by the sound of the beast's cries; it's actually getting further away from the temple.

>You burst through the foliage closely followed by Iris and the others. Before you is the same temple you spotted through your sniper scope nestled within the large clearing. The ruins of the small temple house several stone pedestals that hold individual chess pieces, the very same that you saw those four troublesome students carrying.

>"Let's hurry up and grab a relic before that Death Stalker catches up!" Edread pants.

>"Couldn't agree with you more," you nod as you grab the first piece to catch your eye. The black rook piece.

>Edread grabs the other black rook piece before placing it inside one of his pouches and turning towards you. "Shall we head back to the cliff then?"

>Before you have the chance to formulate a plan there's a loud crash as the Death Stalker comes crashing into the valley, bearing it's sharp pincers and stinger menacingly. The enrages Grimm has carved a pretty clear path through the Emerald forest which actually might make a quite escape viable, though it would also have an easier time pursuing you as well.

What shall you do?

1. Shoot at the Death Stalker and hopefully land a good shot.

2. Rush the Death Stalker with your halberd alone.

3. Have Iris flank the Grimm while you attack from the front with your Halberd.

4. Close the distance and have Balder toss you at the Grimm's stinger so you can cut it with your halberd.

5. Get Edread to attack the monster's legs to provide an opening for you to attack with your halberd.

6. Flee from the Death Stalker and hopefully reach the launch site safely.

There's obviously a lot of options now that you're in a team of four. I'm going to try and provide you guys with equal chances to work with each member of the team while also keeping the choices low enough so you don't get overwhelmed. Things may change in the future if you guys want things to work differently of course.

>"Let's do this," you nod to Iris who readies her crossbows and charges at the Death Stalker.

>Iris circles around the monster while you rush towards it's ugly face and stab at the softest part of it's armor that you can find. The Grimm hisses in pain and you withdraw your blade and Iris fires a few precise shots at the weak points in the Grimm's armor.

>The Death Stalker begins to flail around in anger and swings both of it's massive claws at you. Though you're able to dodge the first series of wild attacks, the second series of attacks is more precise and might very well spell trouble for you.

What shall you do?

You're right about the show :(.

Improvement… Rests with the players, tripfagging really isn't required, for one - only the QM needs that, to make it easier to find updates on the page.

I think your approach to QMing is fine, good description and choices and it seems that you have a plot planned out in advance and so on - I can't say anything bad given I run things freeform in regards to plot and direction (which so far have been received and utilised poorly because apparently players are too impatient to actually read the paragraphs of material I put out).
