Honestly, I don't think they're going to continue the fights after what happened. If they don't have models for them at this point, then I doubt they're going to have them ready, even within the next month, for any actual fights.

From the looks of them, the first guy is probably from either Shade or Haven. The second guy is almost certainly from Atlas, while the third is definitely giving off a Haven vibe. Maybe Shade, but the armor on the armor is a lot like that on Pyrrha.

Then again, I suppose maybe they already made the models, but just didn't have time to insert them in here.

My predictions:

> Yang will go to prison and hopefully interact with Roman.

Musical weapons are cool, but when it's a wind instrument, you're limited to lung size. It could have worked with a guitar or even a boombox. Or something that unfolds into other instruments for his clones.

I'm still semi-forgiving them until they sort their animation since I imagine Monty was doing most of the work (and it's really evident now) but I really hope it improves soon. Because the story sure as hell isn't gonna save them.

And why is Weiss talking about singing when we've only seen her do it once? Does she sing at Beacon?

Loved the music though. But I like that genre, so I'm biased. Would have liked more original pieces so then the jazz remix of I Burn would have been more of a surprise. The VA for the cat girl was good at her roll though.

Looks like the next ep will be exciting though (judging by your images). Can't wait.

Why would Weiss know? She never went to Atlas; she was only raised there. She was likely raised privately, while both Flynn and Neon appear to be lower-class.

Jaune also mentions her being a good singer. It's more of an informed ability, just like Weiss being top in her sparring class, and Weiss getting excellent grades, and pretty much everything that involves Weiss.

Honestly, sometimes it feels like Weiss already mastered her summoning ability, and the only enemy she's defeated was an informed ability.

Summer rose is still alive, as SUMMER rose. They've been telling us the whole time with no way to understand the signs until now. If she isn't, see below.

She vanished to protect her family from being targeted by people like cinder. Ruby is next in line to receive Summer's power, or already has and doesn't know it yet.

There is no way in hell they would name her Summer with this whole plot point planned out and just leave it. That's clear foreshadowing.

Way I see it we're going towards RWBY becoming the four maidens, specifically spring, winter, fall and summer, in that order.

If this comes to pass, it means there's gonna be some fuck-up with Pyrrha, Blake, Cinder and Ember. Can't wait to see the fire rise.

Summer Rose is most certainly already dead. Long dead, at this point. Because at least one person has to be dead.

Further, Ruby most certainly already possesses the powers of whichever maiden Summer Rose was - either Summer or Spring, most likely Spring. That's why she creates rose petals when she kills a Creature of Grimm, and leaves the trail behind her with her Aura. That's also likely the reason that she has the silver eyes that Ozpin noticed in the first episode.

Without a doubt, at least one member of Team STRQ was a Maiden - likely Summer, given all of this. Qrow got wrapped up in the whole affair by being part of the team, and as a result, got put in charge of watching over Ruby (and Yang) to ensure that the Maidens remain safe. Which leaves the questions:

I imagine that Qrow was there when Summer died, as well. That would explain his bitterness when commenting that the power doesn't pass onto a man, and his overall bitterness as a general rule.

I think Cinder will find out about it (or she already knows) and will sabotage the procedure so that Pyrrha is badly injured and she can take the fall maiden's powers instead.

Or, maybe they'll fight, Amber will be released from her stasis, see Pyrrha and think of her as she dies, circumventing the aura shit entirely.

I agree about the Pyrrha and maidens shit. I wish they'd explained where the grimm have come from, but it seems like they're saving that for later or not going to explain it at all.

And Pyrrha could have had more moments this season so we'd be prepared for the maiden stuff with her. I can't tell if they just didn't think to give her moments in the season or what.

I think it'll be Ruby being the summer maiden since her mom was Summer Rose and they were probably close enough for Summer to think of Ruby as she died.

Although Yang would fit it better with her powers.

That would be a neat twist- Summer deciding to think of Yang as she dies so Yang will have the maiden abilities because she doesn't think Ruby could handle it or doesn't want Ruby to have the burden of being a season maiden.

And I really hope they don't make team RWBY all maidens. It'd be nice for one of the other characters to get something rather than Ruby and crew.

Looking into the names, Apsara is a female Buddhist spirit of clouds and waters, so probably not that. Yue is a kind of stoneware, or a kingdom in China in the Spring and Autumn period, so again unlikely. I doubt he is a Schnee, mint is a green colour and Cobalt is a blue colour. Venus is a woman's name. So he might be Draft or Grant (I can imagine him being a Grant), or some one completely new.

I was thinking when they brought it up that it seemed like the beginning of a new, overarching plot. They still have so much left incomplete with the White Fang disappearing, the potential Grimm invasion, Cinder's techno-control of Beacon do they not have an IT department? and so on. It feels like a little too much, too soon. Especially with no prefiguring, like the Deathly Hallows in Harry Potter.

Personally, I'm hoping that we get more than just a single flashback episode. Right now we're looking at:

With the last episode airing on Valentines Day Weekend, to the amusement of Miles.

It looks like some serious shit is about to go down, and that the tournament may very well be over. There is certainly room for more than just a single episode of backstory, especially if those episodes are on the shorter end (twelve minutes) rather than the longer (fifteen-eighteen).

I doubt we'll see Roman in a flashback with Cinder. But seeing something with Roman and Neo, possibly learning how those two came together, would be nice.

Considering that Roman jokes about a divorce, it's feasible that Neo is his daughter (assuming that she's closer to the age range of the main case, and that Roman is older than he looks). They could be brother-sister. Or maybe they're just friends/partners that like dressing similarly.

Who knows. I guess we'll see.

Ok, finally watched episode 9.

I can get how people's reaction would be disgust at first, but after realizing she's a robot, wouldn't it be more confusion? Does confusion even attract grim? And Pyrhha should be sad yes, but not as sad as she was. I get she was under stress, but being she fights grim, she doesn't have to worry about killing other people via magnetic crushing. Though her head is obviously a mess right now. Pity it's mostly due to actions that Cinder didn't directly cause (Hey kid, want some Maiden?)

Also, I get why Mercury didn't just kill Ruby when he had the chance, but apart from her being a main character he should have had no qualms about giving her a buck-shot boot to the head- or snapping her neck- then hiding her body so everyone thinks she ran off out of shame or some BS. Don't hype up a character as a remorseless murderer unless you go all the way all the time.

Fucking loved Cinder's speech. Considering her VA is a booth babe, she's done really good. I'd say she's improved than the main cast (who can still give the odd line that doesn't fit what they should be feeling. Or is that bad directing?) And Cinder was right about Atlas (even though I imagine it's human body shape needed for Aura or some shit) but her scheme to sow dissent and chaos is working. I just wish I knew why. To draw out more Maidens? To get the Grim to do something? Outright coop as "Rebel leader Red Rook"?

Stories are structured as such: Exposition, Act One, Turning Point One, Act Two, Turning Point Two, Act Three, Climax, Resolution.

Volume 1 and Volume 2 have been the Exposition and Act One. The thing is, we are only just now getting to Turning Point One, which would appear to be either the collapse of the Kingdom of Vale, or the exile of Huntsmen, or the start of civil war, or whatever the hell it is.

It's likely a lot of things are going to change, and people will die. I could definitely see them killing off Ironwood, for instance, and having some new military leader take over Atlas to begin a civil war.

But there are still a lot of plot arcs that are unfinished:

> Whoever Cinder actually works for.

> Raven and her story.

> Adam and the White Fang.

> Backstory for Neo and Torchwick.

I can see them milking the franchise if anything- unless another studio came along and made them an insane offer (which in itself is crazy, since you'll lose half the fanbase for "not being Monty's friends).

Don't forget everything in RWBY is double the speed it should be. Half the episodes, half the run-time, half the build up. Yet somehow, just as much pay-off? Also, robots can come back though I fucking hope so, silly. They just picked a character that they knew, even if they did "kill" them off, could easily come back like nothing happened. In this case, Penny could easily be rebuilt, but in between her getting destroyed and getting rebuilt, there will have been so much controversy boiled up that the show will get greater ratings because people want to see what will happen next.

The show gets greater ratings and someone's waifu stays intact for a lovely ending. It's all just a marketing scheme, but who can blame them?

But it isn't just that, I don't know how they plan on killing off any character. No matter what hits them they just keep fighting. There's no real tension during the fights because it's like "oh, that person survived those 5 explosions and getting hit 15 times, I don't see how they're going to take him out with this one". There's no way, that I've seen, to measure how close a character is to "dying" or whatever this show's equivalent of it would be.

Aura levels. Weiss was pretty fucked up by being hit by the flames when her aura was down - hence why she was all charred. Yang was knocked out and about to get stabbed by Neo. Mercury would have lost his leg if he didn't have a robotic one. The list goes on.

So far, they've best shown it with that little Halo-shield-like glimmer, like when Yang delivered her "finishing" punch to Mercury.

The lack of aura leaves you helpless in other ways, too. For instance, when Ruby took the long fall into the White Fang hideout, she couldn't even handle a pair of goons in unarmed combat.

I would prefer that there be some Star Wars-esque scene where Ruby turns over to the "dark side" when Cinder takes advantage of her emotional state, after the loss of Penny, and convinces her that she could use her aura to bring back the people she loves (whether it be her mother or Yang, in a hypothetical scenario where Yang is in near death), but only through the teachings of Cinder and her faction. It would be best with the Yang scenario, because Ruby's crushed spirit, combined with the state of her sister, and Cinder guilting her into trying to obtain this power before more of her loved ones die would almost guarantee her support.

Personally, I would prefer that they actually play the "victory is in a simple soul" line straight for once in the last fucking twenty years of fiction.

Think the opening sequence, where it shows Team RWBY spinning around, looking downcast, with only Ruby looking back up. That's the type of character I want to see - somebody who suffers, possibly even more than anyone else, but remains resolute through the adversity. She isn't the most competent combatant, perhaps even the weakest on Team RWBY, but she's still the leader for that simple reason.

What I do want to see is Ruby actually showing how far she is willing to go to "make the world a better place."

This video. The most watched video of RWBY. The original demonstration for the show, with a girl visiting her mother's grave in a forlorn location. Suddenly, monsters show up, and come at her - the girl dressed up as little red riding hood.

And then she whips out a scythe and kills them all, because appearances can be deceiving. Not that she was in any danger, considering what we know with the newest episode, and who was watching her.

From the very start, it was made perfectly clear by Monty and everyone else that this was the direction the show was heading. And each trailer set the challenges the girls have to overcome: Ruby to defeat evil, Weiss to defeat her inner demons, Blake to defeat her past, and Yang to find her mother.

Well, now they're coming true. They're actually happening, at long last. All of the songs in the soundtrack, all of the images from the trailers, all of the constant hints at plans from Cinder. This is where Monty always intended the show to go, and the only regret that I have is that he isn't around to see it.

I actually wrote a fan character designed to explicitly bring up and criticize the flaws of Hunters, namely things like their very conception and design being inefficient towards taking out Grimm and instead aimed towards fighting other humans, not to mention the self-perpetuating hero image, and her using her training on others as a mercenary. Backstory and conflict and relationships with the main cast and everything. Yeah, pure autism.

That was certainly an interesting episode, and it finally brings us to the start of something much broader. I'm not shocked that they killed off Pyrrha, considering that literally every sign has been pointing to her death since V1, but I am a little surprised that they were willing to do it so soon. Hopefully this will give Jaune a reason to actually improve himself, and not just fuck everything up. But the question remains: will he keep her in his memory? or will White Knight become a thing? or even Lancaster?

It looks like the Branwen family has some sort of bird-related semblance, considering that Qrow has the power to turn into a crow - and that there is a large, red-eyed raven sitting outside Yang's window. The same raven that was watching when Qrow and Winter dueled. But if that is their semblance, than how did Raven teleport herself to save Yang? More imortantly: Why is the teleportation effect that she employed the same one used by the giant evil eye that appears in the start of each volume's opening, and from when Cinder used her glove to drain Amber?

Then we have the introduction of Salem, who appears to be standing alone on some desolate wasteland somewhere in Remnant. Her design is interesting, because while it brings to mind the Grimm in the same way the masks do, it still appears more human than anything else. However, if anything, I think it most matches up with the design used for the Winter Maiden in the Four Seasons WoR.

The name Salem is also interesting, as it brings to mind the idea of the Witch Trials - hunting down individuals for crimes they never committed and putting them to death for it.

What's interesting to note is that Cinder seemed interested in "reclaiming what is ours" for her mysterious boss, who would appear to be Salem. This implies that Salem, in some regard, considers herself to have ownership over the powers of the Maidens.

There is also the recurring chess motif in the show, with the 'queen has pawns' knowledge existing. That, and knowing that 'she' - the queen - has created things which 'are fear'. And, of course, the simple soul - Ruby, the girl with silver eyes.

Considering that the kingdoms were divided for so long, and that this affair seems to be quite ancient, my theory is this - Ozpin and Salem are both entities of the same caliber. They're not human, but they're not Grimm, either - some sort of fairy tale creatures of incredible age. I would also pin down that Ozpin was the wizard in question from the tale of the Maidens, and gave those powers to the girls, who promised to return. Up until that point, I imagine that he was disinterested in human society.

Salem, I imagine, is a spirit in some way connected with the Grimm. Those powers Ozpin bestowed, then, brought about a major upset in the degree of power the Grimm had over the world. In time, humans were able to build their Kingdoms - so Salem instigated for them to enter into a war. In time, though, Ozpin worked from behind the scenes to organize them, and had the Huntsman academies established in order to combat the Grimm.

So with these changes, Salem was forced to do something different - acquire humans, like Cinder and, I presume, Raven. And Ozpin set things up to send someone to counter her - Summer Rose, who for whatever reason, was unable to accomplish her mission.

Ruby, then, is the next person in line. Ozpin never wanted her to have to fight, hoping the established defenses would be enough - but they weren't, and now she is the last person able to unfuck everything.

Among the rest of the protagonists, then, I imagine it will be a rush to recover the rest of the Maiden powers. I imagine that Salem already has one - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to find that, based on the design, she's not actually possessing the body of a Maiden. It would fit with the whole "extinguish hope" motif. Then Cinder has another set. Which leaves two of them up in the air - and quite easy for others on Team RWBY or amongst the main cast to pick up over the course of the story.

Still, I have no idea where Ozpin fucked off to. We know that he's more powerful than Cinder by a large margin, or at least would seem to be. Even her most powerful attacks could barely phase him in their fight. So something else happened in those scenes we missed that has put him out of commission.

Either way, hype for what happens next. I'm definitely excited to see what will eventually happen in the Atlas story arc, when we get around to that.

Now I'm wondering if we're gonna follow JNRR all through volume 4 or if we'll get different POV episodes divided about equally among the RWBY girls. Like ep 1 follows JNRR, ep 2 switches to Weiss, Blake and/or Yang dealing with the aftermath, ep 3 goes who knows where, etc.

I'm hoping for the latter. Lots of potential for dramatic irony.

In light of the chaos, I'd be shocked if any of the schools were running, let alone allowing students from elsewhere. Depends what's happened in the world after the transition from autumn to winter. Not to mention it'd be tense if they did. Beacon students being "butchers", and everyone assuming Atlas were planning an invasion.

Though IMO, Ruby and the gang will be trekking across the world to get answers. No time for school or childish antics. Time to be a huntsmen, and learn painful lessons hard and fast.

Blake has had no friends except Adam her entire life, and it was an abusive relationship. So she escaped from it, and found some real friends. She even found a guy who actually expressed real, not-creepy interest in her, and a partner who was willing to support her in her darkest moments. She defeated Roman Torchwick, and was about to watch her teammates advance into the finals of the Vytal Festival.

Then she watches one friend rip another friends friend into four pieces, a giant bird attacks, Grimm flood into the city, and the abusive former friend she escaped from shows up again. She tries to fight him, but is completely outclassed, just like her first match with Roman. Worse, in fact.

But he doesn't just kill her. He starts to torture her. And her partner shows up - just to get her arm sliced off in one blow. Blake, once again, is left with no choice besides running away. And with a promise from that former friend - all of her friends are forfeit, so long as they remain with her.

So I agree: She had plenty of reason to flee. And done well, this could wind up a great storyline. But it could also prove a repetitive one, if poorly executed. That's what I'm worried about.

Apart from Roman surviving. Unless they do some retarded revival shit. Salem can create clones of killed characters. Jaune fights Pyrrah, and something happens with the Roman clone so he comes back to life, and he starts to work for Salem directly.

I think Roman will be pretty much done with now, thought. His main purpose from here on out will be as a motivation to Neo, so we can have antagonists outside of just Cinder and the rest.

At the same time, I think Adam and the White Fang are pretty much done with Cinder, after what happened: they accomplished what she needed them to do, after all. But I definitely think they'll remain relevant, in terms of giving Blake an enemy.

That being said, I also think I have an idea how Team RWBY will get back together:

The season will begin with Ruby and the remains of JNPR going to Haven, and probably interacting with ABRN and SSSN while there. Sun will probably express some interest in getting Blake back, and there will be conflict with the locals.

While there, they'll learn that Mistral plans to launch an attack on Atlas, after the events that took place. And somehow the White Fang is involved, possibly as allies. Ruby gets worried about Weiss, and the group decides to try to go and help her out.

Some conflict pops up with Weiss' dad, and eventually, White Fang shit happens. Winter and Adam engage in a fight at some point. Out of all of this, Blake makes her return, and joins back up.

The group winds up getting fucked over, until Qrow shows up with Ironwood and Taiyang. Ironwood builds Yang a robot arm, and she's back in action.

So that's my rough predictions for V4. We'll see where things go, though. Oh, and Neo might show up. That would be nice.

I thought her pupils looked weird. Problem is, anime has the whole iris shrink instead of the pupil, but sometimes if the angle is wrong it just looks… Off. It was fine for the autumn maiden, but it didn't work for Ruby. Maybe it was because we saw the iris shrink at an odd rate or some other uncanny valley shit. Then her eyes erupted with light. Just like Cinder after she got her powers.
