I stopped doing that two months ago, and I still get extremely tired after eating carbohydrates such as bread, pasta or rice. Even resistant starches which do not spike insulin make me tired. I'm getting increasingly anxious that sticking to low-carb, fasting and keto routine for so long has broken my metabolism or gut microbiomes or both irreversibly because I'm not seeing signs of any improvements.

Hello anons. Ive been thinking about how injuries from exercise happen, i think the 2 main ways to get them are:

1. trying to increase the difficulty/weight too quickly

2. using gym mashines that force you to move in a "locked range of motion" (look it up)

I really dont want to get injured, so to solve these problems ill probably:

1. increase the weight/difficulty of the exercise that i am doing when i can do 30 repetitions of it (instead of 12 repetitions). this gives my body time to adjust to the new higher weight.

2. avoid most gym equipment. there's hundreds of exercises that you can do with your bodyweight and barbells anyway.

You're onto something. Keep at it.

Avoiding machines is generally good advice, but they have their uses. 30 reps is an awful lot, and you'll likely hit a plateau really quickly. Don't be afraid to lift heavier sooner, just remember to listen to your body and don't sacrifice form for more weight. Work on your mobility and make sure to warm up before your working sets.

You're going to make it!

Preventing injuries:

Stretching before (and after, if you can make yourself) seriously helps a LOT. It might seem like a waste of time but trust me lads. Especially if I'm about to do some heavy leg stuff….. stretch hamstrings, adductors, glutes, quads (which will also all stretch your lower back) and you'll be a lot less prone to injury. Stretching your abs and serratus muscles are good, too.

As far as increasing weight - I feel like I am ready to move up when what once was my upper limit starts to become very doable. I then do maybe a half-set with something only five or ten pounds heavier. If I've been doing sets of 10, just try 5 of something a little heavier. See how it goes. If it's going good, continue those 5 into a set of 10. Maybe do another set if you feel like it's going well. If it's really damn hard, just do 5 and say "cool, I did five of something heavier!" Gradual is key. There is no rush.

Serious question, is it?

I've heard a low carb diet helps lower insulin which supposedly helps lower fat? I mean I'm certain I won't be able to get rid of my belly without finally working out abs but every little thing counts right? I mean I won't even lower my carbs that much by cutting out the parts I will, I'll still consume 80 carbs or so a day because of milk and other food. I'm just looking to get carb free bread. Is this actually serious or will i just be fucking myself even more?

This might be an unapologetic double post. Oh well.

you want high complex carb like oats and dark red kidney beans and black beans, chia seeds, flax if it doesn't bother you in an instant knee jerk reaction because "MUH ESTROGEN" meanwhile you chug pregnant cow titty milk.

and avoid all simple carbs like bread and pasta and flour. proccessed shit = avoid.

Carbs are good so long as they're of the complex variety. Whole grains, brown rice, steel cut oats, potatoes, corn, etc. Steer clear of anything made from processed grains like white flour, white rice, white pasta, etc.

I've lost 98 pounds since this past May 2019 and have been eating shit meals like this while maintaining a consistent daily loss of 3 lbs per week. I'm at the final stretch of my diet now, though, and it's very hard to lose weight, so I've had to cut back to tiny portions to build a deficit.

I used to feel a bit disappointed with the leg raise progression from convict conditioning so I started doing some planks, and I feel it's made for a stronger core of mine. Do planks, try some leg raises or crunches.

You won't get really defined abs until you're at a low body fat % though which means somewhat advanced dieting. Personally I'm more than happy with a stone slab for a gut but I can see the appeal of washboards. Best of luck anon.

If my understanding of nutrition is correct, I'll eventually get there by diet alone but it's going to take longer the lower my composition gets. I might end up adding cardio if I get frustrated by the slow down. I hope this isn't the case. Getting on the StairMaster after just doing squats makes me want to end myself.

Just from monitoring my own experience and bf% over a decade, if you can't get near 7-8% just by eating normally (without calorie restriction) and doing exercise 3 times a week then you are doing something unhealthy that could easily be improved. Your exercise might not be intense enough, you might be too idle during the rest of the day or your diet might have stuff you are better off not consuming. I say that because if your house is in order, the changes to your body will be effortless, dropping by 1% per month. Figuring out your lifestyle variables is going to require experimentation and research on your part, there isn't a formula.

We don't know. Obsessive compulsive constant exercise is a recent phenomena. Zoomers are the first generation to grow into that thinking immediately at early childhood.

A stop watch, a wrist watch (most digitals have this feature for a reason!), a fucking hour glass made for the time you need, a tablet/old phone/media player, most of them have a time/clock application built in; maybe a sun dial if you're the biggest autist to ever exist. It's not complicated, just get something that measures time in a human readable format, it doesn't even have to be perfect, and follow the program.

>tfw running on gravel

>tfw running on sand

holy fuck I spent the last few weeks running about 2.8 miles on a loose gravel road. I felt like I had regressed to when I first started out running. Just the first mile felt more like 2 or 3 miles. It's a really great workout but damn is it frustrating. Running on a beach is similar, the sand just absorbs the force of your leg as you try to push off, so you end up going nowhere.

I'm going to run on solid pavement later today and see how different it feels now.

Glad to hear it, anon. If you haven't already tried it, there was some advice posted earlier in the thread about running barefoot through a grassy field or similar. I think that helps immensely to determine what your natural stride feels like. A lot of modern running shoes seem to interrupt our bodies' natural movements and I think that's what leads to many jogging injuries.

Yeah that's the marketing speech for "natural step" and "low drop" shoes. Reality for running injuries is simpler, it's that average runner is much fatter now than in the past. Bone and sinew can only take so much repetitive heavy impact before breaking.

I've been attempting to eat better while I have been going to the gym over the last few months. However, is there any way to overcome cravings for sugars or other confectioneries that are bad for you? Everytime I'm done my gym workout or eating well for a day or two, I get this huge urge to devour a sack of cookies. Is there any secrets to avoid such issues?

The only way to get rid of it completely is to cut out all carbs, since all carbs are sugar, when you eat carbs you get craving for more sugar/carbs.

Embrace carnivorepill!

Snack olive oil, ++quality coconut oil or butter instead of sugar.

Not super tasteful but satiating without carbs.

>fat helps you feel full

No it doesn't, vice versa actually.

>which is one reason carnivore/Atkins/keto have fans

The reason is fat is tasty and these tell people they can eat more fat.

Eat more leafy greens, I mean like a large salad with every meal. You probably dont have enough fiber in your diet.

What is a good intermediate routine that incorporates mainly compound lifts?

I want to commit to a double split (AxBxAxx BxAxBxx) for the next 6 months and wanted to keep it simple

Background: im 6ft 170lbs with 9 months of calisthenics progression and pretty clean dieting.

I also am pretty lazy which is why I don't want to do 6 days/week.

What is a good weekly cardio routine so I dont raise cortisol and estrogen?

pic is what i believe I can achieve over the next year given my genetics.

ps: no steroids or supplements for me. just clean dieting and lots of organic protein
