I’m just under 6’, and I weigh 240ish pounds. A lot is muscle but I wouldn’t mind losing some more of the fat.

I was stabbed twice in the back and nicked in the lung (makes cardio hard[er]). I ended up needing a long time of physical rehabilitation and couldn’t keep in shape. Not only that, when I was ready to start again my jaw was broken on both sides later on and for two months I could only have a liquid diet. I lost fat and muscle on that liquid diet.

Now I have a gym membership. Assume I am an almost complete novice because that’s basically the truth right now. What regimen should I be doing to improve cardio and my running endurance, and what should I do to start building muscle again.

You're dead wrong. Prolonged hypertrophy won't build a bigger leg muscle it will just be catabolic.

OP just work up to single leg pistol squats and do like 5 sets of 20-30 each leg, twice weekly. Oh yeah eat tons of protein(1-1.5 G protein per pound of body weight.You'll have sure saiyan quads in 3 months or less.

Now the real question is how to bulk naturally over a 3 year period and achieve vegeta aesthetics.

I just realized after a while after learning about isometrics I could add them to my bodyweight exercises.

I'm clearly a begginer still but I was 3 months on a gym and quit because I was bored off it.

I was doing 30 normal push ups in one set, but after start doing them isometric I was down to 5.

I started to do diamond push ups and started to do them isometric wise and from 30 normal push ups I was doing before I was literally down to one or maybe two reps.

So I realized bodyweight wasn't a mere meme and I could make my bodyweight exercises isometric for a lot more effort.

Doing isometric push ups makes the normal basic ones into hardcore shit.

Isometrics maybe not the most common training regime and is kind of obscure and maybe isn't the most optimal one, but as a complement to other workout styles, is like wow, a top tier excellent suplement.

I feel like mixing bodyweight with isometrics is like even superior than weights at this point.

I feel very excited about this discovery because I can now simply do every often in my own house at diferent times of the day at least a single set of push ups in isometric style.

The squat idea came later after learning about isometric deadlifts and knowing normal squats are a weak point of bodyweight workouts.

But later I realized I could do isometric deadlifts in any place, any low bar I could pull, any fence I could try to pull was kind of a nice exercise.

Later I realized I could just start to do a single leg squat progression and mix it up with an isometric deadlift.

This shit is really hardcore, I can only last 3 seconds off a single squat reps, less alone a fucking set.

I want to discuss cardio routines and know what you all like. What's your favorite cardio exercises? Obviously the treadmill is likely the default cardio tool, but what exactly do you do on the treadmill? How long do you run, and what intensity are you doing at what intervals?

When I do cardio at the gym it's usually on the rowing machine, so I use all the muscles, but the main point of cardio is cardiovascular health anyways so that's just preference, as for what kind of intensity and duration it obviously depends on what you're trying to achieve. In so far as I know cardio is best for overall health and life expectancy increase, and that one hits diminishing returns surprisingly quickly, as for stuff like weight loss, cardio has a minimal impact compared to diet, so I personally don't know of any good reason to do anything more than light cardio.

Also yeah the board is very slow.

OP, because of issues with security, I'm used to do indoor cardios, but i don't really enjoy running on a treadmill since i'm more of a bucolic person. I bought a rope and started jumping on the courtyard, it is a little shitty in the beginning because i was lacking motor skill to jump properly, but I keep doing it.

I just run 5km 5 days a week, try to do 8km or more at least once or twice. If I have time 30-60 mins of elipitical trainer or 5 mins of burpees on top of that. I only do weights 2-3x a week unless bulking and not able to run. Do alot of push ups, and chin ups too. And I'm starting to slowly but surely become the guy I want. Not really about physique for me anymore it's what is my 5k time, what's my vo2max, how many push ups continuously, etc. Been lifting for few years.

In the interest of board quality and board activity, I'll try to throw you a bone; but only one, and only a small one:

Do lots of pullups, lots of dips, lots of pushups, and lots of squats. Do harder variations of these as you become able. Add levers, planches, and handstands to taste.

Pic related might be of interest to you. I believe it's from Convict Conditioning. Presumably, you're supposed to do one exercise from each group, referencing the chart accompanying the group to determine how many sets and how many reps. Yeah, the charts are a bit hard to read and the inset text in the pictures is impossible to read, but the photos seem to be pretty straightforward and they should be enough for you to understand how to do the exercises. By the way, I literally did a web search for "calisthenics infographic" and this image was one of the first results. This internet is truly a blessing and I'll be sad to see it go. Boy, are we going to feel stupid if it gets ruined and we realize we didn't fully capitalize on the greatest source of information ever.

I hope this is helpful to you. I know it's not comprehensive, but you've really got to work out the details for yourself; your situation and your body are unique to yourself and they need your unique oversight.

Ok guys I think I just found out the best upper body workout without any bells or whatever.

First I do my cardio, to tire out my legs, then some rotisserie™ with some crunches thrown in there. So far so good, do some squats to really tire the legs, and once I have enough sets done that I can't even stand, I just make like a paraplegic and start walking on my hands around the house, trying to get at things or climb onto things.

If anyone saw me through the window they'd call the cops or something, here I am, grunting like a gorilla as I walk on my hands from one side of the house to the other, trying to work out my upper body.

Is working out supposed lower your sex drive because mine has lowered quite a bit. I use to be able to pop a boner with the snap of my fingers now I don't reallny get hard unless I watch porn. Is this normal or are my T levels in need of restoration. I don't that much soy just some that might be hidden in cheap eggs, meat and other products. I put four tablespoons total of peanut butter in my protein shakes. My stress is almost nothing. The highest and maybe only stress I experience when I'm training. I'm 17. Could that really be enough to lower my T levels or are there other triggers for low libido.

Yeah and I've heard of peanuts themselves having anti testosterone properties but is that really enough to lower T when it's in such low amounts. It's not like it's made purely of anti testosterone material. I did stop using peanut butter in my shakes and my drive has weirdly come back to normal. I'm still not sure what caused but that was one weird week of semi limp dick. It came back right after I did an intense upper body workout and then watched porn for extra T boost. I didn't fap. Was the best high I've ever felt in my life.

And as batshit crazy as it first seemed, I think there actually may be something to the scalp tension issue. Biological systems are very complex, and it's not that wild to think there's at least an interaction between scalp tension and DHT. i.e. you're truly fucked if you have a tight scalp and male DHT-levels. Take away either one and there's an improvement.

Anyone have a flexibility routine going on? I've been trying to work on my flexibility a little just in general and also because sometimes I have pains that I feel could be solved by stretching and stuff. I'm not too sure what to do though, what works for you guys?

I want to squat properly so I'm working on ankle mobility by getting into the squat position, shifting my weight onto one foot and then just driving that knee forward, keeping the heel planted. I also want to reclaim the flexibility I had as a child and sit cross-legged again so I'm practising this by sitting on my bed and getting one leg at a time into the correct position whilst trying to keep my back straight. I think the squat is getting more comfortable and I think my hips are beginning to loosen up as well so I think everything I'm doing is working although I've only been at it for a few days.

Very late reply, but someone might still need it. Milk Thistle, NAC, Liv52 are good choices. If you're going to pick one, don't. Pick two of them. Most use Liv52 and NAC because Milk Thistle is "weaker" but still useful.
