That is very interesting information OP, but it does not negate the benefits of the keto diet? Ketosis is a state with many benefits and the weightloss has always been suspected to be from the calorie restriction. It says in the article that this only disproves the carbohydrate-insulin hypothesis of ketosis. It doesn't disprove ketosis in anyway. It's been well established that low calorie diets work because high protein and high fat diets satiate hunger and carbs don't do this well. So naturally, if you are on a high carb diet, you will eat more before you feel full. the only way to lose weight is calorie restriction and the best way is intermittent fasting 36-48 hours at a time. This will even correct excess skin in morbidly obese patients without corrective surgery as the autophagy process cannibalizes the excess protein in the excess skin.

I see a big flaw in the study: the "ketogenic diet" included 5 meals a day which completely misses the point. A high fat meal will keep you sated (not feel hungry) longer which makes it practical to space out meals, which means the body has a chance to draw on the fat reserves.
Caloric intake being equal, most people can easily go on 2 low-carb meals a day, 12 hours apart (breakfast+dinner). Try that with a carb loaded diet (again same caloric value) and you'll typically get cranky and in need of a nap after 3-4 hours if you don't get snacks.
>Sample (((ketogenic diet))) menu
>Breakfast
>Morning Snack
>Lunch
>Afternoon Snack
>Dinner

i believe a 16-20 hour fast with a 8-4 hour feeding window will be the best combined with keto.
but still, the main thing for people
is getting rid of processed bullshit and adding more veggies
so clearly cutting out "carb carbs" that you DONT need
for energy storage with help anybody lose weight
and especially for men, the anabolic effects of intermittent fasting is gr8 for testosteron
PLUS lifting weights

Seems like every year this same old shitty gimmick comes back with a new name duct taped onto it. Why does a diet that works so well need to be constantly re-named and re-branded over and over again? Unless people try it out and get some temporary short-term weightloss and then suddenly just gain it all back again plus extra with a side of some kidney and liver problems, I don't know why the hell it would be necessary to desperately scramble to be forgotten as quickly as possible literally Every. Single. Fucking. Year. and then hurry to re-name the whole fucking thing and throw it out into the public again and scream "WEEEEEEEEEEW NEW FAD DIET BRUHHHHHHHHHHHHHS THIS IS THE NEW SHIT! DEFINITELY BETTER THAN LAST YEARS SHIT BRUHHHHHHHH!" and watch every fucking dumbass stacy, chad, and desperate walking hamplanet landwhale fatty mcbutterpants FAT FUCKING FUCK jump back on the retard bandwagon yet again for the 10th fucking time to try and become the flawless image the magazines and celebrities constantly shove down their throats. How many fucking times will they come out with a new name for the same old SHIT? How many fucking times will retards fall for it? I know the fucking answer. Forever, right?
If it works so god damned well, then why do they take it down and put it back up again over and over? I swear it's like when they come out with some shit on t.v. and try to sell it for a hundred bucks and then take it down off the shelf and put it in a new box and sell it to me a couple years later for ten dollars.

This is correct. While lipids go straight to fat cells from bloodstream, lipogenesis from carbohydrates is inefficient. Yes, insulin prevents fat cell access but only for 2-6 hours after meal.

My cousin went on a half-keto diet. By that I mean he does two weeks full on keto + cardio exercises, two weeks of detox and normal dieting. He's dropping some major weight but I'm fairly sure it's also killing his internal organs slowly over time. Though the fat fuck was like around 120 Kgs when he got started a few months ago.

This is horse shit and anyone can try it at home. Make pasta, eat. Take note when you've had enough. Next time make pasta but toast it in any fat, then eat. Take note when you've had enough. That's the reason food industry splashes oil in every food product, it makes people eat more.

Let's make sure we agree on this observation: the more fat content the food has (carbohydrate or protein), the more delicious it typically is, therefore people tend to eat more of it, therefore claiming high fat diet satiates hunger well is false.

Wrong.
>Eating from a range of either high-fat or high-carbohydrate foods, obese subjects voluntarily consumed twice as much energy from the fat items, thereby indicating a weak action of fat on satiation. In turn, this large intake of fat exerted a disproportionately weak effect on satiety.

Did they make them eat pure butter or what? Because I can tell you, if my choice was between pure gravy and a loaf of bread, I'd also overeat on the former more than the latter. If you give me cheese and a good steak or some fish, I am at my top-performance for hours, on the other hand. Probably because they have more volume than butter, but also because they have actual nutrients and aren't just fat. This isn't so hard to figure out, literally only eat steak and cheese for a day and then only sweets the other day and then tell me which diets makes you feel shittier.

>Also, you know that in this study you cited, people had to rate how satiated they were? Meaning it's a study about feels
Stop lying, study did both self-assessment and measurements of eaten amounts in clinical setting. Here: "The palatability of the breakfast was immediately rated and subjects made ratings ofmotivation to eat (hunger, desire to eat, fullness. and prospective consumption) before the breakfast and periodically throughout the rest of the day. Energy intake over the course of the entire day was assessed directly by measured test meals presented for lunch and dinner, and indirectly by weighed food records for the period between dinner and breakfast the following day" (p.2)
>Research says "pure fat" does that, not "fatty foods".
Sadly this argument is very similar to socialist mental gymnastics arguing the reason socialism failed everywhere was that it wasn't socialist enough. Post research anyways, I'm curious at which fat content percentage people hit the palatability wall. I don't doubt at all that people won't eat pure fat very much, it's not palatable by itself.

This is correct observation. I've began to think this recurring low-carb/keto fad will never end. It is brilliant dupe in a psychological sense.
1. It promises access to highly appetising fatty food.
2. It produces visible almost immediate effect as massive water loss within days.
3. It offers simple one-cause explanation to obesity.
4. It offers simple one-solution to solve obsesity.
5. It's different enough to facilitate tribe formation around it.
6. It encourages and rewards purity spiraling.
There is no way this strong bait ever really ceases to exist. It will always pop back up to lure people.

I'll provide my own experience to this thread since I'm currently on month 8 of keto.
It works, sorta.
The weight loss is slow after the first three months and really, you lose the energy spikes of carbohydrates after meals, which used to be my best motivation to work out even for hours on end.
Your energy gets lowered but kept constant, unless you don't eat enough.
Personally, I'm going to visit a professional to update this diet to one with <100 carbohydrates a day (unlike my current one which is 5 to 15 carbs a day) and integrate more healthy veggies in it.
I miss beans for fuck sake.

You're welcome. Once you break that extremely strict diet, and you will, there are no long-term studies on ketodiets because dropout% is 100%, you will balloon right back. Just google for success stories where people tell "I've been on keto for decades!", no such thing, not one, very very weird considering amount of noise ketofags make.
>ravenous hunger when eating carbs
You are insatiable when carbohyrates are mixed with generous amounts of fats. I just ate delicious buttered rye bread with melted cheese and want more of the same fatty goodie. I know I can eat huge amounts of that. Precooked rice and potatoes in my fridge stand still, forgotten, unwanted. I have no craving for them.
