I wonder, Mandalorian, do you know what the sensation of dying from the failures of a body feels like? Oh, do not mistake me. Not blaster, sword, or shrapnel, but time and entropy. The wasting of flesh and coagulation of blood, once taut sinew feeble and loose. It is the way of all life. What if you suffered all of that in a moment? Would you yet crave death with such bombast? No, you would

Many Jedi are wrong for forsaking passion and take non-interventionism to a fault. Many Sith are wrong for allowing their passions to blind them and being aggressive to a fault. However, this doesn't require any great synthesis to correct. A Sith who simply knows when to and when not to act suddenly rises above the "issues" of the philosophy, similarly with a Jedi. A Jedi who doesn't cut himself off from everything has the power and the potential to do great things.

There's a reason Luke is referred to as a Jedi despite several times giving into his strong emotions and overall forsaking non-attachment and non-interventionism. Those aren't really core components of being a Jedi any more than being a backstabbing rage-nigger is a core component to being a Sith. It seems those are just common pitfalls. The division in philosophy is more that Jedi see themselves primarily as Knights, fighting the valiant cause for the good of [something], whereas Sith see themselves as Lords, carving out fiefdoms and ruling them as they see fit.

The Chiss are clearly based on Japanese culture with some dashes of Chinese. They share the japs isolationist attitude before the end of WWII as well as quickly mastering all sorts of tech and always aiming high. There's also their Japanese-esque robes with intricate patterns much like kimonos and whatnot, also some female hairstyles look pretty japanese. Even Thrawn's uniform looks like some of the Japanese white admiral uniforms. They were also once more advanced than the Republic (outsiders) but by Survivor's Quest they fall behind. And their enemies, the Vagaari seem to be rather mongol-like, fitting since mongols and japs warred with each other. As for chinese dashes, the name of their species and the name of their written language "Cheunh", along with the robes. Think about it! Chiss may even have the SW-equivalent of anime exclusive to Csilla broadcasts! Ssi-ruuk weebs!

Technically the Chiss are based on a number of cultures, with japs being the main influence, but the extra-galactic Nagai are the true japs/anime characters of Star Wars. Duffy and Martin (their creators) even said they based them on anime characters and mangas they've read. A few of them even have Japanese names and some shinto or buddha-like statues. Even their species name is Japanese for "long/long time/long distance".

Just stumbled across this video on jewtube. It asserts that many elements of TLJ's story as well as it's press signal narcissistic abuse all for the end purpose of psychological warfare. I pretty strongly agree and wanted to start a discussion about it here.

Do you agree that TLJ was more than just a poorly written movie? What other elements of Disney's Star Wars act as a subtle indoctrination to Marxism? What other elements of Disney's Star Wars act as psychological abuse to the Star Wars audience?

You do remember that merchandise was always a massive source of income, right? Do you now also recall how tons of toys have been rotting in shelves, no matter how much marketing was applied?

That aside outside of maybe TFA I don't think any of the movies made a (significant) profit since, again, you have to include marketing costs.

Adding onto all of that TLJ has indeed broken the spell and many normalfags have begun to realize how derivative and downright mediocre TFA was. Jew Jew is a hack that can't make a good movie when starting from a blank slate and all the tools necessary are given to him. Expecting him to able to salvage the complete and total shitshow that is SW after Rian was done with it is pure fantasy.

Written by Tom Veitch and drawn by Cam Kennedy

>Six years after the Battle of Endor, the fight for freedom rages on. Darth Vader is dead, but a reborn Empire—under a mysterious new leader—strikes back at the struggling Rebel Alliance. Massive World Devastators, more powerful and unstoppable than the Death Star, ravage entire planets, while the ruthless heirs of Jabba the Hutt place a monumental price on the heads of Princess Leia and her husband, Han Solo. Along with Lando, Chewbacca, Artoo, Threepio, and other old allies, Han and Leia struggle to protect the future for their unborn child. But their greatest foe may be their closest friend: Luke Skywalker…

This will be a storytime of six issues from 1992. I will refrain from commenting on the story in the same posts as the pages themselves as since I probably wont like them, that would distract from people reading the pages and forming their own opinions. Hopefully with the actual comic being present, we can have a better conversation about this series.

I don't really believe in objective quality in art. Yeah yeah, I'm an awful Commie. Get it out.

What you have is objective quality within certain frameworks. If your goal is a realistic landscape painting then you can objectively do that well, or objectively do that poorly. But you can just as easily discard that framework.

If this makes you angry, explain to me how it doesn't make sense.

I can safely say my like for the Shadows of the Empire game isn't nostalgia, since I didn't play the game when it was newand couldn't have, on account of it being older than I am by about a year or so. It's pretty good other than some of the vehicle sections being wonky, especially the speeder section, and the physics being tied to framerate on PC. If you want a Star Wars game that's objectively shit, you're better off digging through some of the GBA titles like the Episode II video game- you can almost smell the pure ass emanating from some of them.

I 100% consider Filloni's CGI Clone Wars abomination to be the beginning of the end for Star Wars canon. Just think about the fact that this retard wanted to take one of the coolest original alien characters from the clone wars and turn him into a generic Fett ripoff.

Is there anyone on this board that defends that show?

That's going too deep into the man's psyche. He made tons of silly changes that made no sense to anyone but him. He would even go against the movies and the lore for his own benefit, and Ahsoka's as well. But for some reason he really had out for Genndy's Clone Wars by turning everything Genndy made into shit or retconning it out of existence, or pussifying the Quarren.

Because of how good it was. Genndy could do in two minutes what Filoni couldn't do in 50 hours. Filoni probably felt that the only way to make himself look good was to tear down the works of others.

Does it even make sense for Revan to be in that scene? He got redeemed as a Jedi. Sure, he's in the sith history books, but why would he show up as a literal sith ghost and pretend to know or care about "the chosen one"? That entire conversation felt really out of character for him. Not surprised at all that he was cut out, because that looked like really unimaginative pandering which kotor fans probably would have hated. I guess it makes sense considering swtor also implemented one of the planets from TCW. That talk about the "chosen one", feels a bit ham-fisted though. I can't imagine Revan keeping up with that kind of shit.

Who the hell thought that this was a good idea? I know that Rogue One is usually considered the better of the Disney Star Wars movie but nobody ever asked for this. We wanted better stories for beloved characters that respected them and were good movies and/or new stuff to expand on the universe. It looks like Disney is so desperate that they going full ouroboros and feeding on themselves.

tl;dr version: it means they are trying to sell a product that they think customers should want based on ideology as opposed to selling what customers do want based on sales and market research.

long version: the current Lucasfilm policy of focusing on diverse and inclusive protagonists is ideologically motivated. The story group, who uphold this policy, believe it is a moral imperative to make amends for the dominance of white males in the original six Star Wars films. Despite a lack of customer enthusiasm for these new characters Lucasfilm will continue pushing them until as they believe customers will get used to them or as others believe they will eventually run out of customers.

Now wait a sec, hear me out. You know how Disney is taking Expanded Universe characters like Paelleon and Thrawn and completely raping them? We should do the same, take the names of shitty Disney OCs and then rewrite their histories to suit our likings. So just like how people will search Thrawn and come across fake Disney lore, people will search Aphra and come across a wiki article about how she was a random scientist exploring the Unknown Regions (she never had any interaction with Vader or Evazon or any of the main characters of the OT) who became one of the first victims of the Yu Zan Vong invasion. Her ship's hyperdrive was disabled, and then she was boarded and enslaved, attempting to escape from her imprisonment, a random Vong gutted her and she met her end there, aboard a Vong ship.

This idea gives us the opportunity to score some much needed bants against the Mouse and it allows us some room for creative storytelling. Would anyone be opposed to me adding articles like this to the Wiki?

You confuse conformity with the ability to discuss things without a massive spergout. Have whatever opinion you want, just don't go on some asinine crusade to kill the board if someone disagrees with you- this place doesn't revolve around you. That's the sort of pretentious self-important nonsense that most people can't stand.

Just stop being such a dramawhore, and things might go more smooth for your faggot ass.

In fact, we're just supposed to admire the proud female quadroon at that very moment, so the casting choice, that is to say the high virtue of nu-Lucasfilm: "Look at us right now, we're so (((TOLERANT AND INCLUSIVE)))". That is one of the most obvious moments where you understand this has nothing do with making actual good content anymore, it's all about bullshit exterior to the SW universe in itself. I mean of course we already knew that before, but that may be one of the most obvious signs right here (let's not forget they literally started with jumpscare Boyega in the very first teaser).

It's too bad though because I actually liked her armor/helmet and bike design

Force Unleashed was a mediocre game that fucked with a lot of pre-established lore and history, but it was technically under orders by the Emperor. According to the game, the creation of the Alliance was to gather all of the Empire's enemies under one organization that, and once all the leaders of the different rebellious factions got together, eliminate them all at once and break the resolve of their supporters. Not my words, just what I remember.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fang_Zar/Legends

Wait, what did Fang Zar do aside from oppose Palpatine?

>Fang Zar was a firm believer in a decentralized government and strong civil liberties. He commanded great respect among his colleagues as a result of his unwavering idealism and straightforward discourse. However, Palpatine's aides and allies kept close watch on the aged Senator.[1] While in office, Zar became close to several other delegates who shared his political philosophy. His views were so similar to those of Garm Bel Iblis that the two Senators could have been one and the same.[4] Fang Zar's outspoken and defiant nature led him to join the Republic Group and the Delegation of 2000, both of which aimed to limit the growing power that Palpatine was gathering in the Republic's executive branch.

Sounds like a standup guy. Maybe you're thinking of someone else?

- i tried to archive but it kept fucking up

>Disney has closed a deal with director Rian Johnson to develop a new “Star Wars” trilogy, and it is planning a live-action “Star Wars” TV series to air on its entertainment streaming service that is expected to launch by the end of 2019.

>Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger announced the “Star Wars” news during the company’s quarterly earnings call. In addition to the “Star Wars” TV series, Disney is working on TV series adaptations of Pixar’s “Monsters Inc.,” the Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” franchise and an original entry from Marvel.

>Johnson helmed “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which is due out Dec. 15. He’s set to write and direct another trio of “Star Wars” theatrical pics with his longtime collaborator Ram Bergman.

Talking of that guy:

He is the author of the eight-volume series Black Sabbath: The Illustrated Lyrics. Joe also runs a small-press publishing company called the Royal Publisher of Oz (www.theroyalpublisherofoz.com) and is the creator of the Royal Timeline of Oz (www.oztimeline.net) and the X-Files Chronology (www.xfilestimeline.net). Joe has co-edited the Cyberpunk Nexus: Exploring the Blade Runner Universe, and has written essays on science-fiction and fantasy for several Sequart Books anthologies, Wizard of the Coast’s Star Wars Gamer magazine, short stories for Oziana magazine, and has contributed material to West End Games, Star Wars Insider, and Dark Horse Comics. Is anyone else on this board just starting to get into the EU now? Having previously had no experience with it, save perhaps a few video games or comics? I'm finding you can get everything used, picked these up cheap (less than five dollars for all three of them) and I've been avoiding any reprints with the "Legends" banner as the money would be going to the Mouse, and putting that label on them seems to be devaluing what they actually are. May as well put a label that says "Bullshit" on them. The fact that Disney continues to sell what they've disregarded says to me that they know their own stories are inferior but they're not going to give up on a chance to make a few more shekels.

All that being said, I'm finding the EU to be a mixed bag. All of it is better than what Disney has put out, but it still isn't perfect. Being as I have no nostalgic attachment to any of it, I wonder what other people who have no nostalgic attachment, who are just getting into it, are thinking about the various stories and plotlines. My favorite stuff are the things that expand the universe, without touching on the primary characters of the movies, that's why I really enjoy these three books, and I find the stories in these books that tie themselves to either the Death Star, or the Rebels, or the main plot points of the OT are the weakest.

My absolute favorite story so far is The Tale of Muftak and Kabe by A. C. Crispin. It made me care about both of them and had cool world-building in the form of Talz biology and genetic memory. I would have loved to have seen a story set on the lush planet with giant flowers and pools of sweet nectar that Muftak described. I found myself quite disappointed when I checked wookipedia and saw that other media ignored those features for the Talz homeplanet.

Just working through Dark Force Rising. So far I'd say the Thrawn trilogy is a little cheesy in places, but the ideas are great, and it's not even funny how much better a follow-up to the OT it is than Disney's efforts. The choice to make the main villain more or less the polar opposite to Vader and Palpy is bold, and I love it. The setting of two more evenly matched factions struggling to take their place as galactic government is interesting too.

I was thinking of starting a thread to discuss the best versions of each story to experience where there are multiple options. For example, I would recommend the Mark Thompson audio books for Thrawn, but not the comic versions, which I find a bit lacking.
