If you need community service hours yeah I never really got that in with them but you need to do like 3 public events to be officially apart of the 501st.

When it comes down to it no matter how bad Star Wars gets if you can make some poor kid in the hospital smile just by wearing clone trooper armor yes it's worth it.

Has this been spotted before? I've never really seen many pictures of this specifc pilot. He gets blown up shortly after this frame. It's common knowledge that a lot of clones were trained by mandos, but Jango Fett aside, I didn't know this bit of lore was really integrated into the movies too, I always thought it was more of an EU thing. What do you guys think? I turned up the brightness so you can take a better look.

From Lucas in the forward for a reprint of Splinter of the Mind's Eye

>After Star Wars was released, it became apparent that my story—however many films it took to tell—was only one of thousands that could be told about the characters who inhabit its galaxy. But these were not stories that I was destined to tell. Instead, they would spring from the imagination of other writers, inspired by the glimpse of a galaxy that Star Wars provided. Today, it is an amazing, if unexpected, legacy of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing new stories to the Saga.

Not fond of it myself, but I did enjoy it and the return of Palpatine more than Disney's new stories. I guess I kinda liked the idea of the Emperor coming back to kick ass and get revenge, instead of just accepting his death like a content jedi wuss.

george was always more concerned with the tone than the lore itself. that's what was great about the eu, even if the story was shit, it fit well into the universe and felt like it was always there. the disney shit doesn't fit in at all.

It's the whole being true to the spirit, instead of the superficial. The EU felt like Star Wars because it was almost always true to the spirit, while Disney Wars has stormtroopers, and tie fighters, and x-wings, and yet never actually feels like Star Wars.

mostly a combination of trimming scenes and flipping their order around. and yes, the podrace was extended for the home release. but aotc had some scene flips in the coruscant chase and as far as i know revenge had no notable changes except for like some ratio cropping or some shit.

but the ot on the other hand is full of trims here and there, or excising small segments (think the cantina scene pre-se, se and dvd)

let me fix that

OT Luke: hick kid who means well, is prone to stupidity and rash behavior, who then learns from his mistakes caused by said rash behavior and stupidity, and then becomes a wise and mature adult

ST Luke: dumb fuck who apparently forgot everything he learned in the past 50 years of his life because his nephew had a bad dream and that meant he had to kill him

also anakin was unknowingly fulfilling the prophecy by doing what he thought was right, there was never a destiny involving luke, despite what they put in rebels

The most out of character thing Jake does happens before that.

Luke is a man who faces down the two most powerful and evil men in the galaxy alone and throws his weapon away rather than give in fully to his anger. Yes, he lashes out at Vader before that—but only when his sister is threatened. The only reason he’s even there is because he’s the only one in the galaxy who believes there’s any good left in Vader. Obi-Wan didn’t. Yoda didn’t. None of his friends did. Vader killed his mentor, chopped his hand off, and tried to turn him to the dark side. But Luke believed in him, and he was right.

Jake is a man who pulls a lightsaber on his sleeping teenage nephew because of a vision of what might happen (Star Wars is very clear about this—the future is always in motion, no vision is fixed until it happens, and even those that happen often take a different route than what’s expected).

>Based Sith ghosts anchoring their spirits to the material plain as wraiths/specters has been a thing for a long time anon, though I guess it isn't quite the same as transcending death in the way that Jedi do it.

Indeed, its not the same, yet Filoni still refused to have them in regard as wraiths, which was stupid. Disney however probably won't be as creative. I mean we're also getting a Vader force ghost (not Anakin) so they're probably gonna do to him what SWTOR did to Revan… Either that or this is all just empty hype and its gonna be Sheev's mental imprint in a sith holocron. Its funny how only now they've decided to bring back shit from the lore when its already to late and the franchise's setting has been fucked beyond belief. Fuck you Abrams, Rian, Kennedy, whoever fucking else.

The only shit that matters are the 6 films that Lucas made, everything else is garbage if it doesn't conform to George's themes. Anakin brought balance by wiping out the corrupt Jedi order, and by wiping out the Sith. Luke went on to create a better Jedi Order that was in harmony with the force as one can see in the Jedi Knight games, like Jedi Academy.

I think mediocre is the best word to describe Soylo. if it were a generic sci-fi romp without the Star Wars brand stamped on it, it would be an ok but forgettable flick. as part of the Star Wars anthology, it does not fit, which is the reason for the harshest criticisms imo.

while it's a mess of a film that should've been canceled, the crown of awfulness shall not be usurped from The Last Jedi.

When I say it was 'good' I just mean that it the ending had potential. Sadly it wasn't realized.

I conceptually enjoyed the double-double cross and Han being forced to face down his mentor.

The problem is that the movie didn't effectively set up this scene. There was no hint that the fuel could be "faked" and there wasn't enough character development for the viewer to actually care about anybody, Han included. There also wasn't enough decent interaction between Han and Beckett so the emotional impact that should have been there just wasn't.

Also the Darth Maul reveal was retarded.

>>23316

I agree. I would rank the Disney movies as follows:

1. Rogue One

2. TFA

3. Solo

4. TLJ

Of course, ranking aside, all of these are complete garbage that completely disrespect the entire Star Wars IP and I would never recommend them to anyone.

>>23323

Initially I thought the same thing, but now I'm not so sure. The writing is just too bad for it to be "just okay", even without the Star Wars label. Too much of the movie just doesn't make sense, the characters behave in bizarre ways, and the pacing is just awful.

That was one of the best SW told from the Imperial perspective. It presented us with a humanized character that had a strong devotion to duty, struggling against corruption that had infested a system that he believed in. In some ways the ImpAgent storyline from TOR was similar. I wish we had more content like this.

The first line sounds Anakin killed some pets or cattle, the second sounds like someone who really turned into a dangerous and murderous person.

Why the deal with using the word children? Georgie Boy showed a teenager jedi being shot down, Vader igniting his blade to kill a toddler and later the guy being burned to crisp in gory detail. We all knew that Vader was a murderous guy high on the dark side…

The barfly's arm in Mos Eisley was bleeding as well, so I think it's safe to assume that Lucas thinks lightsaber wounds bleed.

This can be Special Editions, Theatrical versions, THX Laserdisc Remasters, fan edits, etc

For me, its

TPM: 2011 Blu-Ray

AOTC: 2011 Blu-Ray

ROTS: I'm pretty sure georgie boy hasn't made any changes to this one so I guess the Theatrical Cut

ANH: 4K77

ESB: Color corrected 2011 Special Edition

RotJ: THX Laserdisc

Jabba can negotiate and compromise, but not to the extent of coming at Han's beck and call.

of course Jabba can wander around Tatooine, and he makes an appearance in TPM as you said, but presumably with guards around.

>you're not wrong about the greedo dialogue, but again, since han shot the messenger, he would have to reprise what he said the first time.

that's true, and that would work in a novel. but for the film format, restating what the viewer already knows is another reason to cut the scene.

>like snoke, he exists to move the plot forward but unlike snoke has a purpose and place within the story.

I agree with this. to clarify, Jabba doesn't have a character arc, he's always the same thuglord. I was referring to the story arc which centers around him, which is basically Act I of RotJ. I should've specified.

as an aside, Dune is important source material for Star Wars, and it's likely that Hutt physiology was inspired by the god-emperor Leto II (although the characters have almost nothing else in common).

TPM: Original DVD release for puppet Yoda

AOTC: Any. No real difference.

ROTS: ""

ANH: Despecialized - looks fantastic. Only downside is lack of Biggs.

ESB: 2004 Special Edition - Bespin looks far better. The few tweaks are done well and in good taste.

ROTJ: 2004 Special Edition - I like the Jabbas palace dance number and I like everything about the retouched ending. No 2011 because I don't want uncanny valley CGI ewok blinking.
