What's currently the best way to watch the Theatrical Cut of each film?

CED baby
Serious answer: I only prefer watching them on my original well-preserved VHS tapes whose contents I recorded over to DVD 14 or so years ago thanks to my DVD-VHS player since I knew they wouldn't last forever. As a safety precaution I've made multiple copies of said DVDs and make new ones every 3 years just in case.

Not so fast there Core-Worlders. Betamax was the superior format.

Despecialized is shit, it's mishmashed garbage and the quality is all over the place, It's already getting replaced by the superior 4K77 and 4K83. Once 4K80 comes out, there will be no point to Despecialized anymore.

the 2006 limited dvd re-issue is the best option, realistically speaking. sure, you can try your way with one of these fanciful fanedits that attempt to be as close to the original theatrical release as possible, but outside of 4k77 or sse you're wasting your time with that and the quality is inconsistent. the 06 dvds on the other hand are the pre-se vhs boxset bumped into higher resolution, and thus the most consistent in quality. mind you, nobody has the exact absolute original theatrical release laying around, george was constantly editing the films even back before their home releases. there are key markers to identify which verison is more authentic though. for example, if you are watching ANH and notice that some of the rebels at the end of the film aren't real people, that's a legit copy.
for the prequels, more or less the same shit, just watch the dvds since the blurays had some tinkering to them.

What sort of tinkering?
All I'm aware of is that the Yoda puppet in The Phantom Menace got replaced with CGI, and the there were some alterations to the podracing scene between the theatrical release and the DVD possibly even some between the VHS and theaters as well. As far as I'm aware, George was pretty happy with the prequels films when he was done and pretty much had them the way he wanted from day one. that reminds me, the VHS of TPM came with this cool concept art book which I've misplaced years ago, anyone know where to find that?

>What sort of tinkering?
mostly a combination of trimming scenes and flipping their order around. and yes, the podrace was extended for the home release. but aotc had some scene flips in the coruscant chase and as far as i know revenge had no notable changes except for like some ratio cropping or some shit.
but the ot on the other hand is full of trims here and there, or excising small segments (think the cantina scene pre-se, se and dvd)

we've been over this in another thread. Harmy's Despecialized is best for viewing, while the 4k project is best for autistic preservation.

It literally isn't, Despecialized's quality is all over the place. 4K77 is atleast consistent.
Also, Harmy likes Disney Wars so there's that
