Here's what happened basically. Couple of years ago, Wikia (Wookieepedia's host site) rebranded itself into FANDOM and became an IGN wannabe site with wikis taking a backseat. After the rebranding, FANDOM made some changes to the Disney Wiki (formerly known as the Unofficial Disney Wiki before the rebrand), FANDOM then started doing events for big companies like prizes, ads, contests, or other some such shit. The Star Wars wiki started getting the most changes soon after, some of the old admins were forced to comply to the new guidelines enforced by Brandon Rhea (a member of staff) and those that didn't left of their own volition because they refused to comply with the new rules which were unbending. Soon after, more and more official Dinsey material begins appearing throughout wikia and they even get interviews with all the major Disney celebs with far more ease than before and even got to attend red carper events. Basically, Disney and other major companies hit Fandom (formerly Wikia) for hosting so much copyrighted content, so they were forced to change and comply with their whims in order to be allowed to keep the images and videos they now host, because before Wikia was not allowed to host videos, but ever since the rebranding, you can upload official shit directly on the site. There's some other sneaky shit mentioned in a previous thread, but I can't remember which one.

Holy shit. I was aware of the rebranding, but I didn't hear about mods getting booted simply because they didn't "get with the program." That's fucking horrid. We'll have to back up all the "Legends" pages soon. I have the sinking feeling that once Solo flops, Disney will do more and more to protect the brand, perhaps demanding a purge of old EU stuff from the main wiki. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but Lucasfilm is starting to really miss the mark in the public eye and desperate companies do stupid things.

They weren't booted per se. They weren't given an option. The change was coming whether they wanted it or not. Half of them complied while the other half stood by and went unheard. Some of the latter half stayed around for a bit to see if they could adapt but then they began leaving 1 by 1 until only a few of the original mods were left. You also couldn't protest the new canon or make fun of it because that faggot Rhea would tell you to shut up or saying it was inappropriate behavior worthy of bans if anyone complained too much after the "decision" was made. Also shortly after the rebranding, a handful of new users appeared on the wiki to seemingly take the place of the original mods. Each of the new guys is suspicious and they're active 24/7 with no breaks, making them seem like sock accounts run by multiple people each, possibly even Lucasfilm employees since these new guys even have access to a lot of info and have even posted production and business information before the product/media is even release.

One of the new guys in question as well as his 24/7 activity:

They already have to a degree by implementing the Canon/Legends tab. That was their initial compromise towards keeping the old stuff around. Original Legends was the default tab but then they forced Canon to be the default. Then links to Legends were removed from all the main templates and the main page, the only place they still appear is in the featured articles but that's still a matter of debate among them. Its in a steep decline. No doubt they'll eventually have all the smaller legends stuff be merge into a smaller list of articles where they'll eventually dump the rest of the EU articles. Into nothing but a shitty reference list.

Checked through the links. Has to be what you described. Likely three or four Lucasfilm employees a day on one account, making changes provided to them over a document. This isn't run of the mill shilling, this is carefully weaponized soy.

I really fear that the reference list hypothesis is likely, if not a complete purge of old EU. Hopefully, the anon working on transfers to Holonet can contact the Staff of HN soon. Otherwise, the hard work of old EU fans will be lost for the foreseeable future.

This whole situation is insane. Just imagine a Wookieepedia page listing a character's sexuality. That is the path they're headed.

>>15677

I'm pretty sure they made a list like that shortly after Chuck Wendig's novels came out, stupidly enough. Also I'm familiar with Lewisr's activities. During his first few days he was already over 500+ edits. He (or I should say "they") are clearly under someone's pay roll.

Logan was a legit good movie, though. I'd be more worried that he's going to be hamstrung by the committee, like Gareth Edwards and Lord & Miller.

That, and the film kinda fails at the premise. At least if it doesn't take place after Return of the Jedi. Because, seriously. Who gives a shit about what Fett did in between Episodes III and IV?

In the pre-Attack of the Clones EU the writers had no idea who or what Boba Fett was. The best guess (which wound up wrong) was "Jeremy Bulloch" (were there any toys of him you could remove the helmet from in that era?) so the writers often played up the idea that, for all the galaxy knew, Boba Fett could be a girl. This and lack of a consistent characterization actually went so far at some points that after AotC they introduced Boba Fett's daughter from a one night stand who hates him and wants to kill him and impersonated him during a few of the times it was more heavily hinted. (I forget exactly why she was pretending to be her dad, though an imposter would certainly get him to come to her makes enough sense on its own).

Telling it from the prospect of Ailyn Vel as she tries to lure out and kill her father would be a cool concept for a movie, but we all know Disney Star Wars doesn't do cool things.

>In the pre-Attack of the Clones EU the writers had no idea who or what Boba Fett was.

an identity was never fully established, but his background was that he was a stormtrooper who killed his superior officer and defected from the empire and wound up getting into bounty hunting. that was about it. he wasn't even an actual mandalorian, he just used the armor for its combat advantages and adopted the culture as his own, and took the title of mandalore because there weren't really any others left to claim it.

but he was always explicitly male, dunno where you got that shit from. the helmet most likely used a voice scrambler, hence ailyn being able to pass as him, but always male.

I respectfully disagree. A big part of what made Fett cool was the mystique surrounding him, and exploring his past would be a detriment to his character. I know that happened in the EU, but I really don't see that working in movie form. Showing what happened to him after the Sarlacc is the only way Disney could not fuck this up in my opinion.

His story after the Sarlacc in the comics was good and made sense as his clone make up would cause him to age faster at some point. But Disney wouldn't do that, and to be honest it wouldn't matter what they covered. Even if it was directly taken from the EU they'd still find some way to make it awful or sound like a corny Marvel movie copycat with awkward quips and humor and plenty of focus on stronk girls over Boba.

no it wouldn't, boba wasn't tampered with, remember? he doesn't have the advanced aging like the clone troopers did. this is why they need to cover the period between 3 and 5, start it off with the deleted subplot of episode 3 where fett tracks down mace windu (after he gets thrown from sheev's office), and kills him. then from there just basically have two hours of bounty hunting (taking a job from jabba to wipe out a rival gang or some shit), no exposition, no "muh father" shenanigans, no good/bad, just a straight-up slaughter. set it on nar shaddaa, throw in a few references to EU stuff because that's clearly the new standard for the standalone films, and that's a wrap. hell, maybe throw in a cameo from spanish kyle doing rebel work or some shit.

That anon isn't completely correct. Fett was unaltered and had no aging problems, but by the time he reached 71 his health was rapidly in decline due his nature as an artificial product as well as the fact that the time spent in the Sarlaac fucked with his health a bit early on, but the Kaminoans sorted that out from what I recall.

You're correct, it was a subplot in the Legacy of the Force series. Boba Fett was searching for info on the old cloning process and any Kaminoans that had worked on him. Fett got a marrow transplant from the clone and was cured.

The left may be inconsistent, but they're consistent in their inconsistency. They never go back on anything they believe unless the political situation has forced them to. Keeping guys away from the most attractive girls (teenage girls) is the primary objective of feminism because it limits guys' dating options to roastie cunts. If they go back on that, feminism effectively won't even exist anymore. That would be a long-overdue improvement, and that's why it's not going to happen. Why would you expect anything good to happen in current year + 3?

Some of these edits are ridiculous. He spent an entire 24-hour period, non-stop, adding "Solo: A Star Wars Story" to the "Appearances" section of a bunch of different pointless articles, like "Shovel," "Tree", "Plant", and "Music."

It's either an account shared between Disney employees, or it's a rudimentary AI using machine learning to identify objects in movie stills and add them to articles as it recognizes them. There's no way this is one guy.

Yep. Wookieepedia is compromised and bans along with info control are fucked. Lewis is proof that Disney is now in control over there (which would explain how easy it was to convert things over there and why Wikia itself stepped in to forced the userbase to adapt) or its a sign of how elitist and corporate Wikia itself has become after turning into FANDOM and creating a paid user page designed to keep things up to date. They'll even be moving to a new URL which completely removes "wikis" from the site name. Wikis are now just ad dumps for FANDOM to shill their awful content and "news" articles.

Looks like there won't be much concern because Kathleen Kennedy confirmed it is 100% dead. From her mouth. but not in a public announcement but from a Sirius XM journalist she talked to. Is she so scared of public attention that she couldn't even give a direct video response where she slits Boba Fett's head like an Islamic terrorist to get the message across? Those extra 3 years for her are going to agonizing if she can't deliver bad news like a professional.

We are, but in the opposite direction. People think Lucasfilm is on the cusp of surrendering when they conclusively just said, "Fuck You" by hiring Kennedy for three years.

They don't know and/or care about angry fans. They've convinced themselves it's a small group and Solo failed because it came out too close to TLJ. They're a mixture of delusional and wealthy enough where it doesn't matter.

this

we already know disney won't sell, they've poured too many resources into it (disney park additions, buying fox, jacking theaters for more portions of ticket sales) but if we can get them to finally agree it's just not viable for the markets, they can leave it alone and let it die for good.

Basically this. Disney will never give up the IP, but making sure it continues to fail hard enough that they lock it away for good to the point where all they do with it is make shitty merch is probably the best case scenario. From there it'll be up to the fans to restore interest and make content. Hopefully some well-meaning sap in the future will want to make a KOTOR remake without announcing it everywhere. Maybe even fan films or a web series in the same vein as shit like 40k: Text-to-Speech.

Wikia has always been awful, but since the FANDOM change they've gotten even worse. they essentially see editors as slaves on their plantation. that's why a number of communities have abandoned them and created their own wikis under NIWA. of course, Wikia refuses to delete the old content after a fork, because they are scocha kungs, to put it mildly.

>>23051

this is the most realistic outcome of victory. still, it would be funny af if Disney sold Star Wars back to Lucas for pennies on the dollar.

This argument came out when some comicsgaters here tarded out and insisted Disney will sell. There's no comparison between the value of Star Wars and Power Rangers. It's like saying they'll sell the rights to Mickey Mouse off.
