8/co/ used to be great, then things went quiet for awhile. Did the BO and his vols suffer a coup? Anyway, afterwards the quality went down and it's not as good anymore. This is one reason why I still dislike Codemonkey and his now that I think about it, he might be doing this out of mere laziness "hands-off" approach. Even if it falls more in-line with Hotwheel's ideals, it doesn't change the fact that it's a terrible idea. Hate m00tykins the Fag and his traitorous Jewry, but "monarchism" > "democracy".

/co/ really fell into a sorry state. Only remotely decent cartoon thread they've had in ages is the Thundercats one, but that's something you can do on /tv/ now since they are (surprisingly) better for discussing cartoons these days. Other than that, only comics threads are still worth a damn, but cartoon anons just fuck it up.

I can't remember shit, but I'm pretty sure he was BO for a little while. You remember that on anti-migrant video that went viral before it was shoah'd by Perturbator because "muh politics", even though he (supposedly) allowed left-wing political videos to use his music? He made that. I specifically remember people, myself included, getting upset over the "8chan /pol/" plastered on it.

>>16432

>cartoon anons

Stop. Just "nu-anons", as I said, they were fine a long time ago. Also, I've heard that 4/tv/ is better now, is that true? I've checked some of the more quiet boards on 4chan somewhat recently and they're not so bad really. I mean, compared to our boards.

>inb4 "go back"

They say this to anons who mention this place which is still censored, kek as well. Really, this place feels a lot like 4chan before I left for good back in early 2015.

I finally got around to watching this along with a group of friends. It was worse than I had been led to believe. Multiple people had told me that this was a good Star Wars heist film. They were clearly lying. The only good part of the movie was the last five minutes. Outside of that, almost every character was forgettable and every plot point was contrived. The music was the worst I've ever heard in a Star Wars movie.

Normally I would have enjoyed the scenes portraying life at the front as an Imperial Army soldier. The costuming and environments in those were pretty good. However the writing was fucking atrocious and nonsensical, so even that scene was ruined too.

I probably misused the phrase "good part" here - I meant it subjectively when compared with the rest of the movie. I was referring to the betrayals and the final standoff between Han and Beckett on the beach. Those were the only things that felt okay on a conceptual level. It had somewhat of a noir genre flavor to it and I wish the rest of the movie had mimicked that sort of tone. I feel like that would have been more appropriate.

As for Maul, honestly I never cared for him anyway and I think he exists for pure fanwankery purposes. His appearance felt shoehorned in the same way that Vader's did in Rogue One.

On a slightly related note, this movie had way too many fucking references in it. With this being the fourth Star Wars movie that Disney has released, I would have thought they would be okay toning down on the references a little bit. Instead they doubled down on them. It was annoying before but now it's just fucking tiresome, like a migraine that won't stop.

The entire sideplot with the proto-rebellion that was led by Magical Mixed Race Female was fucking stupid and should have been left out. Like everything else in Solo, both she and her faction were poorly explained and I was never sure if I should care about them or not. At first they seemed like a dangerous group of bandits, but the moment she removed her helmet and revealed herself as an ugly-as-fuck mystery-meat girl with a permanently confused look on her face, all I could do was wonder why the marauders were ever considered dangerous in the first place.

>>23184

My understanding is that it was never a heist movie. Before Howard got it, it was a slapstick comedy written by the Lego Movie people. Howard tried to take that and turn it into a generic action flick. The end result is a meandering mess that doesn't understand the tone it's trying to set.

I gotta agree. VIII is worse no doubt. Though, Solo was pretty pointless. It's a mess, you can clearly tell they want to make it into a trilogy considering Han at the end of the movie is nothing like the Han we knew in IV. Just plain typical mediocrity. I'm glad most share the sentiment and I'm glad they're gonna slow the fuck down with these bland and worthless spin offs.

I think mediocre is the best word to describe Soylo. if it were a generic sci-fi romp without the Star Wars brand stamped on it, it would be an ok but forgettable flick. as part of the Star Wars anthology, it does not fit, which is the reason for the harshest criticisms imo.

while it's a mess of a film that should've been canceled, the crown of awfulness shall not be usurped from The Last Jedi.

When I say it was 'good' I just mean that it the ending had potential. Sadly it wasn't realized.

I conceptually enjoyed the double-double cross and Han being forced to face down his mentor.

The problem is that the movie didn't effectively set up this scene. There was no hint that the fuel could be "faked" and there wasn't enough character development for the viewer to actually care about anybody, Han included. There also wasn't enough decent interaction between Han and Beckett so the emotional impact that should have been there just wasn't.

Also the Darth Maul reveal was retarded.

>>23316

I agree. I would rank the Disney movies as follows:

1. Rogue One

2. TFA

3. Solo

4. TLJ

Of course, ranking aside, all of these are complete garbage that completely disrespect the entire Star Wars IP and I would never recommend them to anyone.

>>23323

Initially I thought the same thing, but now I'm not so sure. The writing is just too bad for it to be "just okay", even without the Star Wars label. Too much of the movie just doesn't make sense, the characters behave in bizarre ways, and the pacing is just awful.
