Let's discuss Star Wars merch both old and new, and while we're at it, let's post pics or stories of Disney Wars merch we've seen IRL that's failing or not selling in stores.

Also what's up with all the Star Wars+Dole shit?

>I think her and Thrawn's black series figures (and those in pic related) are the best sellers,

Where could we know that? or I guess Disney keeps this kind of info for themselves. I'd really like to know which figurines sell the best under yidsney. Kind of ironic btw, those jews make money with spacenazi memorabilia.

I don't know about the black series, but from what I've seen over the years, it seems Kylo Ren merch like shirts, sabers and toys are what mainly sales while Rey and other shit struggles. Disney won't outright admit it of course for the sake of saving face with investors, so all we know is what employees and stores say.

There were several articles though that states that toys, novels and other merch are dipping hard under Disney.

Who or what is the Star Wars saga (films) about for you? For me it's Anakin Skywalker. I think the reason it's Anakin for me is that as a 20 year old I grew up with the prequels and never thought they were bad. Whereas when I ask my family they always come up with Luke Skywalker as they are all 45+ and grew up on the Original Trilogy.

Still, even a ‘home army’ like the Volkssturm would have been better, with a lot more unique looks, as the soldiers are wearing leftover armour and uniforms they have, to whatever uniforms and armours they have found or own themselves – with armbands and helmets. That would also allow for a lot more unique weapons carried by the Rebels, and it’d really drive home how desperate their struggle is – a true space guerrilla force.

Pretty fascinating, curious what kind of reception it will get. I also learned that Dark Horse has the right to publish Disney material too, they're apparently doing comics on the Incredibles 2 and Frozen. Maybe we shouldn't be completely blackpilled on the EU just yet. The IGN article has a good point as well which many people have brought up in the past– that there are a bunch of EU stories (even less popular ones) that need to be finished such as the Force Unleashed and I could see that happening in comic book form. It's only been 4-5 years since the EU got "paused", I could see them revving up that machine again if stuff like this gets good reception. I'm

A little better than the first but it still has some e-celeb parts where I think he should have cut out. Argue against the common criticism instead of attacking the person directly. This is the one big problem that Mauler needs to fix in my opinion if he wants to be seen as fair. I have to say, the in-between with his other youtube friends I guess with the tapes are the worse part. Sure, they break up it being Mauler only speaking, but they have some of the shittiest opinions that I've ever heard.

Different perspectives and all that, but they self contradict the critique in what this whole video series is doing and really doesn't bring a counter argument to the critique that I can concede with "You have a point". When you say a bad movie is just a bad movie and that you shouldn't look too deep into it, you shit on those who have been analyzing movies since the start when it was beginning to be taken more seriously. I'd have to guess the people saying such comments come from a younger generation because in mine, we talked about what was good and what was bad about a film. We'd go even deeper into it if there was enough material to dissect. If we had conflicting arguments, we'd agree to disagree and move on. The only people who watch a movie once, and don't think about it afterwards has to be a rarity or a new breed of scum that I want no part of. The one reason why he have such an entertainment dystopia is because they haven't learned from the past. If you don't learn from previous successes and failures, how are you going to create something great that'll last years after?

I can't be the only one who likes star wars more for it's world design and models than the story. I've started trying to collect books like Sculpting a galaxy which focuses on the models used for the backgrounds and the various ships. They're really enjoyable to read or just browse for inspiration while having a bit of a dry patch.

What books like these would you recommend? What are cheap on the 2nd hand market these days and worth picking up?

 No.6465 [Open Thread][Last 50 Posts]

It has come to my attention that the Disneyfags are either incapable, unwilling or simply too lazy to come up with a coherent political narrative in their soywars movies. I get that the NuRepublic gets wiped out by a galaxy cannon but what or the first order? The Empire in the OTS had several layers of their organization that is acknowledged and foreshadowed in every film. Imperial Navy, Armed Forces, Stormtroopers and then you get into the Moffs and their power, layered at one point by the Senate and after their dissolution replaced by direct control by the Emperor. The PTS expanded this even further, almost ad nauseum, and had a ton of political narrative. So much so that you could destroy Coruscant and the governing body would adapt very quickly.

NuWars removes this brilliant, well written facade and replaces it with 2 terrorist factions vying for power, and not even real power but occupying power backed by fucking industrialists. Also it's baffling to consider the First Order as some kind of purified Imperial Remnants, yet have a General commanding their Navy (think Veers would be competent enough to command Death's Head Squadron?), a Captain commanding all the Stormtroopers while simultaneously fulfilling a continuous combat role, and literally 0 politicians or anyone capable of being a politician in the entirety of the First Order, who lionizes former political geniuses like Tarkin, Palpatine and many others. The nuCanon's wookie page will even tell you that the FO's government is a "military junta."

So my question is simply: why? The stripping of authority in these films is so obvious and forced that one begins to think that it was done on purpose. I've read in a thread that the Chinese were put off by politics in these films but I am flabbergasted to believe this. Is Disney just lacking the ability to write political narrative? I can't believe we've gone from seriously opinionated political discussions by members of the Imperial Navy for no reason other than creating a rich galactic story with much content to a babby land-force general commanding the entirety of the Navy.

The demilitarization has a precedent in the old canon -the military downscaling during the Ruusan Reformation. But the comparisons end there. Valorum's Republic, though devastated, was triumphant and uncontested in its rule of the galaxy, while the Disney Republic still had a truce with a rump Empire in the Core and roving Imperial Remnant threats towards the Outer Rim.

There was a demobilization after Ruusan, yes, but at the start of the Clone Wars the Republic was able to produce a navy capable of galactic wide operations in the span of a year. Remember that the CIS was at first an armed force made from fucking traders and industrialists, that's how the scale of galactic things are. Rich corporations in secession were able to produce ships and droids to fight a galactic war. Now imagine a government which controls like 2/3 of a galaxy. If anything the FO would have an advantage against the New Republic for a couple of months and that counting the decapitation of the government. If that wasn't some stupid ANH ripoff, the Republic would be put under some state of siege/martial order while a counterstrike were being prepared.

Headcanon time.

After the fall of Palpatine, the Empire would be split into multiple factions. Rather than it all being consumed by the Rebels, the Imperial Navies would be strong enough to hold key assets and systems, whilst the old Separatist systems and old strongholds would begin their recovery in the New Republic, together with systems that would manage to overthrow their local Imperials. However, they would be squabbling and competing over one another and the Republic would be weak and inefficient. Most notably it would seem short-lived. However, they would still manage to force a truce with the Imperial Remnants, as the Empire would have a civil war between surviving Moffs and ambitious Governors. The splintered Republic would need a large navy to fight off space pirates that plague the trade routes, meaning that the heavy industrial planets such as Mon Calamari, Cato Neimodia and Geonosis would come to hold major political power and even autonomy, whilst Outer Rim territories held by the New Republic would be havens for Space Pirates, some aligned with the local powers.

The Empire on the other hand faces many a decade-long struggle against its own factions and terrorist organizations funded by the New Republic. Ambitions, visionaries, collectors would come to define most territories through battle-prowess. The death of the Sith would mean a spiritual awakening across the Galaxy, and especially in Sith-controlled areas. Formerly dying and secretive religions would surge to power and bolster or hinder conscription and taxation, meaning that major religions would have to be domesticated. This would mean the rise of a Vader-cult, or a strong belief in the Chosen One. Their strong faith would let them experience more battle-prowess, morale and troop loyalty than the other factions, but not enough to be a decisive bread-winner.

The third parties, such as Hutts and the resurrected Jedi Order would not get directly involved in the mess. Initially. Luke would mostly focus on training the new generation of Jedi. However, because most of the texts were lost, he has to consult Force Ghosts and deal with former high ranking Imperial cultists to find the knowledge needed for the Jedi to return.

However, the Jedi would not be able to have a monopoly on forcPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

>LOS ANGELES (BLOOMBERG) - A crucial meeting on Tuesday (Feb 12) between Brazil regulators and Walt Disney chief executive officer Bob Iger on a proposed US$71 billion (S$96 billion) deal with 21st Century Fox ended without an agreement, presenting a potential hurdle to the entertainment giant.

>Brazil's antitrust regulator, known as Cade, still has not decided on a date for a ruling on the deal, according to two people close to the discussions.

>The legal deadline for a decision is on March 17 and, if the case is not discussed at Cade's Feb 27 meeting, an extension would need to be requested, said the people, who requested anonymity because the discussions are not public.

>Brazilian regulators are still split on whether the deal can be approved without the need for Disney to sell one of the two sports channels in the country, Fox Sports or ESPN, the people said.

>In December, Cade posted a report that said the deal could create a competition hazard.

>Some Cade board members still see behavioural remedies as a viable option to obtain approval.

>Iger and his lawyers declined to answer questions after the meeting.

Looks like there's been an unexpected shake-up at Disney. If this doesn't go through, Iger will likely lose not just the deal but his chief executive spot.

I think Owen tried to keep Obi-Wan away as much as possible, can't say where I read it but he didn't want Luke to have anything to do with the force and thus told Obi-Wan to never let himself be seen. Perhaps it was the last jedi books?

Is that a rebels or CW episode? I haven't watched Rebels or the 3D CW reboot. I'm pretty sure it's the second book in the series, and Obi-Wan is watching Luke force move a ball as a toddler and Owen brings him in the house because the sun's are setting and he glares at Obi-Wan who is just out of view, then he monologs that Owen wants him to stay away lest he influence Luke. Unless I made that all up, but I'm pretty sure I didn't.

Recently played through on Dark side with restored content mod. I fucking love that you can train your companions and the much more intricate interactions between them than KotOR I's occasional quips. I wish the dark side route was more flushed out in both games, but I do like that you're sorta given a grey jedi option. Ideal new Star Wars game would be KotOR III set between KotOR II and Bane novels, maybe 100 years after the battle of the star forge, and you're trying to follow Revan's footsteps to uncover his mystery. It could have a lot of cool stuff and hopefully more routes than just light or dark side, with a big brained nibba Jolee grey jedi route, or a Darth Revan grey sith-esque route. Although in current year it would have gay romance options, race comedy, Donald Drumf cameo with shoe horned irl politics, x-group civil rights side quest, micro-transactions for sliver bladed lightsaber, Revan's mask, ect. nu-wars references and items shoe horned in. Buggy awful gameplay only partially fixed a month after release. Shoe horned multiplayer taking up resources, woke d00d w33d lmao "deep" writing. Stronk female characters that degrade and humiliate male PC, ect. It's a dream though.

Care to explain? I'm currently reading Zarathustra (or All Quite on the Western Front I keep switching between and not getting very far in either) but am not very far in. So far all it has been is that one should shed standard conducts and "go under" while encouraging the formation of one's own morals.

>Some will to power.

Will to power was a mix up of his notes and some essays edited by his sister. It's debatable if the way she spliced together that book are actually applicable to Nietzsche. Though you're right about his portrayal: he had terrible health and could hardly see most days, the last few years he went insane and believed he was a god, he was hardly as shown in busts and such.

isn't it fucked up that Hasbro could have just easily made cheap film accurate versions of this helmet instead of the gimmicky voice changer stuff with gigantic visors? it's not like they needed to make it out of fiberglass like master replicas. A simple plastic version with a basic minimal paint job would have been a super cheap alternative for kids + hobbyists could have used it for customization.

Reminder that Star Wars only consists of a single trilogy from the 80's.

Nothing made after by Lucas, Disney or anyone else should count as anything other than extremely expensive fanfic, as it ultimately muddles up the themes and story of the hero's journey Luke experiences. None of the other shit happened in Lucas's original vision. C-3PO was never built by Anakin when he was 9, The Emperor never made a factory of clone bodies for himself so live forever, Luke's lightsaber certainly didn't fall into the hands of some orange alien who then gave it to some random girl. None of that shit matters. It's all fucking toy commercials and power fantasies aimed at 12 year olds and nostalgic boomers.

Star Wars ended with that final scene on Endor, they all lived happily ever after like the fairy tale it's supposed to be.

Can we finally agree that the PT style of Jedi/Sith combat is ideal then all the horrible fencing crap in Nu-Wars. I agree George went a little to far in a few places but he at least established that the Jedi can use the force to agment agility. We saw glimpses of it during the sand barge fight in RoTJ but people pretend that Luke wasn’t doing jumps in the OT.

They should amp Rey and Kylo to fight as violently as Obi and Anakin did in RotS. Maybe incorporate some stuff from their first fight, but please make it feel like two force users are fighting each other.

Use either of the sword types we've discussed with a very light blade because those are the closest thing to a lightsaber you'll get in real life in terms of the weight. Those would be the fencing foil or the Chinese jian.

I finally managed to get a few minutes to post something else about spears, so here goes. I figured out a way to defeat the bat'leth saber with the crossguard lightlance, but it changes the entire form substantially, so it's going to be hard to square it with everything else I've done so far. It relies on the fact that the body mechanics of the bat'leth and all other staff weapons prohibit a stout defense against lower attacks. This also applies to some extent to all other melee weapons. Normal spear forms have a strong emphasis on attacking the body because it's the biggest target and the easiest to hit with a thrust. But you have a good deal more leverage than they do from the knees down, meaning you can actually win a shoving match with them if you just aim for their knees with the crossguard. This only works against human or humanoid duelists, though.

I also thought about why Sidious and Vitiate would assign a normal lightsaber pike to their elite guards when the crossguard version is so much better. I came to the conclusion that it's for the same reason they do everything else they do. TIE fighters are laughably bad spacecraft, but Star Destroyers are the dopest capital ships in the galaxy. Neither one of them is a retard, so there has to be a rationale. It's all about them wanting to ensure teamwork and obedience to their authority. I actually had a couple other things to discuss, but that's enough for now. We can talk about the other stuff when I have it more developed.

>TIE fighters are laughably bad spacecraft

In a vacuum, yes. But you have to remember that TIE fighters are also incredibly, incredibly cheap to manufacture, and their low mass means they have very high maneuverability that can only be matched by fighters much more expensive than they are. You can think of them as an analog to the Nipponese Zero Fighter, which was very good at what it did.

That's more of a discussion for a thread about starships, but Japanese fighters had a tendency to be used as missiles by their kamikaze-happy pilots. This is probably the best use of a standard TIE fighter. Many people from the hard sci-fi space warfare community question the need for starfighters of any kind because it's more fuel-efficient to eschew them entirely in favor of missile launchers. Starfighters also only make any sense if armor and shielding are weak, so you can't make a capital ship that can stand up to any serious damage. Star Wars capital ships have great durability, adding another point against the use of starfighters. Actually, we already have a starship thread, so I'm going to go post in that about this.

With respect to the Imperial troops who use a lightsaber pike, it behooves us to remember that they're much more expensive than normal lightsabers. Imperial Shadow Guards and the Knights of Zakuul would be the ground forces equivalent of a TIE defender or some other ultra-high-end starfighter. The demand for loyalty is much stricter among the elite forces. Otherwise you get a guy like Admiral Zaarin who decides that he should be the Emperor instead. This emphasis on unquestioning loyalty was prudent but insufficient, because disloyalty proved to be Sheev's undoing, first from Vader and then from Carnor Jax arranging for his clone bodies to be sabotaged.
