>“We’re good at making movies and television shows and theme parks and cruise ships and the like, we’ve just never managed to demonstrate much skill on the publishing side of games,”
>Bob Iger seemed either unaware of some of the drama surrounding EA’s recent handling of the Star Wars brand or unconcerned when an analyst asked him for his thoughts on where video games fit into Disney’s business moving forward.
>>“We’re obviously mindful of the size of that business,” Iger said. “Over the years, as you know, we’ve tried our hand at self-publishing, we’ve bought companies, we’ve sold companies… [and] we haven’t been particularly good at the self-publishing side, but we’ve been great at the licensing side which obviously doesn’t require that much allocation of capital.
>…we’ve just decided that the best place for us to be in that space is licensing. We’ve had good relationships with EA and the relationship on the Star Wars properties, and we’re probably going to stay on that side of the business and put our capital elsewhere.
Tl;dr, the eiger has seen his shadow, and we'll get 3 more years of shitty EA cashgrabs set in the SW universe.

It's run by out of touch billionaire kikes who have never played video games in their lives. Star Wars vidya was good under George because he was an autist scifi nerd with a son who enjoyed video games. Jed Knight: Jedi Academy literally got made because Lucas' son liked a different game about wizards that that developer made.

Perhaps another reason they are purposely not bothering with video games is because their leadership feels that this would be pandering to a largely male audience.

That's a load of shit. The truth is that EA just doesn't see the value in good singleplayer games. They are all about quick results, preorders and how much money a game can make from microtransactions in the long term.
Nevermind the fact that a game like Jedi Academy, which is a 16 year old game is still being bought, played and modded by a community of fans. Nevermind creating a good product that is more than just pleasing to the eye. EA just wants to jerk off their investors.

I prefer pic related, because if you want to be honest Lucasarts made even more mobile games than EA. Also pic related really drives home the point of how much EA has wasted the Star Wars license. Maybe that's not so bad though considering how much EA could have fucked Star Wars games with nu-Wars.

Disney and Lucas arts both had quality control problems in the PS1-PS3 era. You would get random junk out of no where or licenses would go to handheld devs who made a damn near unplayable game. It would be fair to say EA has a track record of releasing decent games. Not good, definitely not great but decent. Say what you will about the new battlefronts lacking content, they do play well and they do feel like Star wars. If EA hadn't gone full Korea on the unlocks most people wouldn't care EA had the license.

Like it or not most EA games are playable. Enjoyable even. It's the cancer around them that's the problem. I got Battlefront as a christmas present and I enjoyed playing it for a bit. It's not a bad game and it does feel like Star wars.

EA Battlefront 2 is unplayable. There's an insane amount of grind, no fair fight, everything is based on the shitty Star Card system.
I don't see how a new player could have fun with that game.

I've beaten all the games on that list, none of them are jank or anything, they're absolutely worth a playthrough each if you're a star wars eu fan (just emulate them). Clone wars 2002 has atrocious jedi gameplay though, feels like an unfinished feature. Aside from that, it's got very impressive usage of 2d sprites. The battles feel very big.
EAfront 1 feels like it could be an ok f2p game, I tried the beta. Look at EAfront 2 by comparison though, even the cover art is so out of touch. What fucking symbolic connection does a tie fighter pilot, darth maul and daisy ridley have? None. It's chinese bootleg-tier cover art. Worse than the TFA theatrical posters. They say, don't judge a book by it's cover–but I can, and I will. And I get that they tried to patch the game apparently with more prequel content since that's what everyone one wants, but they should have really made a prequel-only battlefront game by now. If EA were competent and knew what they were doing, we would have gotten a star wars version of battlefield 3/4 with content from all 6 movies.
overall, what lucasarts and co. delievered was more than decent. Big games like Kotor, Kotor 2, Republic Commando, both Battlefront games, jedi academy and outcast all in the span of a couple of years? that's impressive.
EA hasn't delivered shit.

i've been saying it for a while, this is all dice literally needed to do and they would be swimming in cash. but nope, they had to try and make it unlike battlefield, and in the process shot themselves so thoroughly through anything below the waist that there's no chance of recovery and they'll just bleed out for as long as they can. dicefront 2 is having seasonal content like siege and fortnite, but eventually a dicefront 3 will be made, which means content development for 2 will be stopped, provided they even bother to put anymore sw games out after the respawn title launches, apparently ea really doesn't like making sw games since they have to abide by shit lucasfilm throws at them, which is another shitshow since everything is now canon. anyways, the sooner we reach the end of that 10 year exclusive licensing, the better.

>They're good if you fit the niche I'm part of
>Except the bits which aren't good.
I find KOTOR to be a bore fest with lame combat and an uninteresting world full of too many corridors and too much talking leading no where. Your niche and my niche are not the same thing, so you can't argue giving you what you want makes it a playable game or not.
EA's first battlefront I put about 50 hours into and had a good time with just the base game. It was a solid shooter for the era and one of the better games we've had in the genre for a long time. Star wars as an universe solved many of the problems battlefield has as a series. There's no invisible snipers hitting you from across the map with no way to spot them for starters. It's one of the few times DICE did something half decent.
The 2nd game was a cluster fuck of greed but who wanted the new trilogy any way? The 2nd game should of just been the prequels and then the 3rd should of been the new trilogy. Yea you're lacking content on the whole, but each segment gets a lot more attention and it's not like the Clone wars alone wouldn't of been worth a game.
Republic commando isn't very good. It's not bad but it's not good either. It's rather clunky and reminds me a lot of Fire warrior the warhammer FPS. It doesn't use any of it's mechanics well, it doesn't use Star wars well and it's corridors leading to more corridors. Compare it to something like Halo which came out 4 years earlier it was downright sub par. It shares all the same problems but it doesn't open up, it's just tunnels leading to more tunnels. It's a standard movie tie in game of the era. If you like Star wars you will enjoy it, but it's a stretch even then/ [spoiler]my favourite era is the clone wars and I've yet to find a single game set in that era which felt like star wars and was good[spoiler]. Outcast is the only genuinely good game on that chart and it has pacing issues. Academy is just an expansion pack and while still good it's hardly it's own game.

I'd be careful of calling someone an EA shill. Not everyone is a fan of RepCom or KOTOR. I definitely am a fan of both, but they're not without flaws. For instance, RepCom lacks anything with a substantial focus on vehicles, which Halo has. But Halo lacks the squad command system of RepCom, or at least it did up until recently.
