GREETINGS /sw/

The Infinity Cup is returning once again, and 8chan's boards will be fighting it out on the pitch to claim divegrass supremacy. As a board that has participated in the Cup at one point or another in its history, you are invited to the reveal stream for 2019 Summer edition of the Cup. On Saturday June 22nd, at 3 PM EDT/7 PM UTC, on cytu.be/r/8cup I'll be giving you guys an early look at the Cup's 5th edition, which will include revamped aesthetics, team stadiums and other quality of life improvements I've figured out how to do in PES 17. Hopefully this will get anons back on board with the Cup, considering it has struggled mightily since its 2nd incarnation.

So how is it going to go down? I'll be staging a couple of exhibition matches between teams using their rosters from the last Cup, and we'll shitpost our merry way through the stream. Once the stream ends, entries will be open for the Cup, and boards can start putting together/editing their rosters and kits. Entries will close in early July, the field will be determined, and the Group Draw will take place approximately a week before the Cup kicks off in August. I'm also hoping to possibly introduce managers for the Cup, although I'm still working out the details to keep this from devolving into a namefag dick measuring contest. I hope you all will tune in, and in case you aren't caught up on your board's history, I've provided some links below to get you caught up:

You've been placed into Group D with /bmn/, /tv/, and /u/ and your schedule is listed in pic related. Tol Cressa is ultimately a background character who we follow as a vessel for displaying how the Senate (an allegory for the Republic as a whole) reacts to the Mandalorian Wars. When he's not doing that, he's either walking in on the Jedi Council to piss them off because they're prissy faggots who're sitting back while his and their Republic dies, or him reeling as he scrambles to undo the fucked up edicts and amendments of his immediate predecessor.

Time to talk about the Covenant again.

Here's a tl;dr on how the Covenant operates

>Watch Circles

Also spelled WatchCircles, which not only looks stupid but also clashes with another group term as shown in the highlighted text.

WatchCircles don't have a space in them, as you can see in yellow and orange, but the Market Manipulators Definitely Legal Stock Study Circle which literally uses the Force to abuse the Intergalactic stock market, the words look nice and pretty because there's a space between every one of them.

Because of this, and the fact that WatchCircle gives me a headache, I'll be typing Watch Circle instead.

Now about what they do. Watch Circles are groups of Jedi seers handpicked by Krynda Draay to operate with one another, the foremost "First Watch Circle" is the one in the first image, the Taris-bound Watch Circle. They're called this either because they were the first, something that I'm still not sure about despite researching it or because they are the foremost and most important Watch Circle, since Krynda seems to think that they'll be the ones to realize her dream of making sure the Sith never come back.

>Why Krynda made this

Krynda made the Covenant in an attempt to use the Unifying Force's precognitive properties to sense and then locate the Sith if and when they pop back up BEFORE they pop back up, essentially allowing them to throw the space baby out the window before it gets old enough to zap them.

>What do watch circles actually do

Attached to a watch circle are two elements, the Eyes and the Hand. I made the Eyes term up, but Lucien Draay is constantly being referred to as the circle's Hand The Eyes are the seers, they kick back and have schizophrenic nightmares and then they cry to the Hand about it.

The Hand is a Jedi guardian who's job is to keep the seers safe. They're picked for two big reasons, their ability to make bad men disappear, and their inability to see the future and question the seers' visions.

>>35218

It's ironic that I'm making fun of Krynda for being old and crazy when I'm forgetting to add images left and right. Here's the symbol I came up for the Jedi Covenant

It's the shining star in the Jedi symbol with the outline of an eye cut out, representing Krynda's desire to turn into a sort of Sauron in terms of being one big all seeing eye without the fire and brimstone. Unless said fire and brimstone is on top of broken massassi baby bones, in that case she's fucking Melkor

Covenant Shadows are dumb, let me explain them. They're each Jedi that've had their paper trail linking them to the Order annihilated, the Archives are incompl- allowing them to operate with maximum mobility when completing whatever task the Covenant's assigned them since they don't have to worry about the Council knocking on their door when they hear that good ol' Bataui Zeel or whoever murdered a family on Ord Mantell and burned the house down after the family recently repainted their house black or whatever fucking thing they did, the point is that they have nothing linking or connecting them to any organization, letting them operate with nothing doctrinal or legal holding them back.

The sheer amount of them is fucking staggering, as you have to remember that each and every one of them has had basically every single document with their name or description available to the JEDI, who probably have tabs on shit happening across the Galaxy dating back to pre-Republic times because they can sense the fucking future and can at least scribble a drawing of weird hammerhead dickheads getting BTFO'd by spiky red guys on the wall using their blue and green crayons.

The fact that the Covenant has removed a couple of people from the archives is impressive, but ALL of these fuckers? Das amazin'

Sadly for the Covenant though, after Haazen revealed himself to be a gigantic Sith-obsessed larping faggot their little organization got its shit pushed in by the Jedi Order, with the watch circles getting separated and countless Shadows finding themselves either apprehended or fleeing known space because the Order doesn't take kindly to having its former members giving them a bad name by working alongside a now debunked group of batshit insane assholes. I'm paraphrasing what I read about them, the Jedi apparently arrested them in the middle of the Mandalorian Wars and didn't give a fuck. This might explain why Revan had so many Sith out of nowhere, since all these dark jedi are now space hobos

Now a few Shadows got away and that's all fine and dandy, the entire reason why I'm talking about these speds is because of what happened AFTER the Covenant was dissolved.

Lucien Draay reorganized and reformed the Jedi Covenant on a tiny temperate moon he bought way back when, dubbing it the True Covenant and claiming that it'd be the bastard child of Krynda's anti-Sith obsession and Barrison Draay's moral code of not listening to others and doing what others tell you that you can't do just to spite them.

Another important amendment to the Covenant's doctrines that Lucien made was probably THE most important and telling one, no longer would playing Peeping tom on the future be the Covenant's go-to modus operandi, instead of just inadvertently causing the apocalyptic future they were afraid of, they'd also PREPARE for said apocalyptic future and do their best to wait it out, turtling where Krynda's covenant would've broken and probably just fallen.

The new insignia has a bit of symbolism to it, where the old one was just the central star with an eye, the new one flipped upside down.

>Lowest tail

The lower tail is thicker than the original's top, showing how where the old organization lashed out, well, outwards, the new organization is firmly rooted down, grounded in its doctrines and beliefs and even more so in their morals.

That reminds me, and its something that bugs me. In KOTOR 2 Kreia can show up in front of every single Jedi master you meet and none of them bat a fucking eye, despite the fact that at the Dantooine enclave they all know IMMEDIATELY who she is. You could say that its not fair for the writers to be prepared for this, since due to the companion system Kreia could technically never pop up in front of Zez-Kai or Vrook's face due to said companion system, but she literally is FORCED upon you on Onderon and literally fucking talks in front of Kavar and he doesn't bat a fucking eye, despite being shocked later on that she isn't dead yet

The obvious answer is that she hid herself using the Force, speaking to you through the link and that that's the reason why nobody cares she's there, sort of like how she hid herself from Atris.

Problem is, she hid herself from Atris, but definitely not the fucking handmaidens, who literally tell Atris that she was there leading to Atris getting a few types of fucked up.

I have a solution for this in my telling of things, but I won't quite spoil it here

Another reason why I'm bringing the True Covenant up is because they're a loose end, not just a single thread or strand though, a gigantic fucking loose end. An entire GROUP of fucking Jedi that apparently did absolutely NOTHING throughout the Dark Wars and just sat back and watched as the Order got torn apart.

I don't blame KOTOR 2's devs for not, well, including them, since development for that game was a shitshow anyways, but I do blame authors and world builders for forgetting that they even existed. That shit annoys me They're also included because the authors baited Lucien becoming a certain somebody and I'm frankly disappointed that the two of them never met

Source Claims to be a contributor to a SW Spin off book

Take with a pinch of salt

>Movie features huge dollops of fan service (maybe due to bad feedback from last movie and test screenings?).

>Force Ghosts feature VERY Heavily.

>Rey discovers that the Sith and Jedi have been fighting for millennia and this is just the most recent (and final) act in the long conflict. The sacred texts from last movie hint at this, Force Ghost Luke confirms. Seems no way to break cycle.

>Force Ghosts of Jedi train Rey for 'final battle'.

>The Sith have a form of Force Ghost called in the Materials a 'Sith Wraith'

>Sith Wraiths rely on physical objects - without them they cannot inhabit our plane - e.g. Horcruxes in Harry Potter, Sauron's ring in LOTR. They are plot MacGuffins.

>Palpatine appears in at least three forms in the movie (Hologram, Sith Wraith and inhabiting living bodies)

>Palpatine's Horcrux was on the Death Star (but obviously survived since his Wraith is present/active).

>Sith Troopers guard his Horcrux

>Vaders Helmet is also a Sith 'Horcrux'

>We see both a 'good' ghost of Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Sith Wraith of Vader

>Kylo Ren is absent from the First Order for most of the movie, Hux commands in his absence from the Finalizer.

>Kylo and Ren Team up to destroy the Sith Horcruxes.

Force Ghost Luke to Rey: We’ve passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight.

> Rey and Kylo fight Sith Troopers and Dark Acolytes including Matt Smith (Palpatine meatpuppet).

Well, I'll be honest, if this supposed leak checks out, this probably is as good as they can do with the mess they have created, at least it's a somewhat decent conclusion that ties back into the OT better than the other two movies.

And I think this is a problem, in a sense, it seems just good enough to rope the normies back in, at least for a time. Might be that it'll lead to a TFA situation, in the sense that there's a lot of hype that had worn out by the next film. We actually might see the former powerhouse that was Star Wars turn into that shambling mess that crawls along by the skin of its teeth, riding that edhe where it makes just enough money to not get the axe.

At least that'll give us more stuff to make fun of.

It's a pretty limited comparison, TBH. If memory serves, the Empire had not previously had any encounters with the Ewoks, who preferred to hide in the woods in all instances, and so assumed that the primitive tree-bears would be a non-factor in the defence of the shield generator against the inevitable Rebel commando raid. No one anticipated the Rebels somehow getting the Ewoks on their side, or that the little furballs would somehow end up being just enough of a force multiplier to make a shambles of the Emperor's intended ambush, but even the Galactic Empire does not usually go around just pre-emptively genociding random species without provocation, and up until actual commencement of the Battle of Endor, no one in the Imperial command structure had any reason to wipe out the Ewoks.

Ewoks were never a factor. They didn't manage to do any real damage. What doomed the Empire was the idiocy of their officers. They didn't killed the rebels on the spot, they scattered while chasing teddy bears instead of fucking in the rebels around, they still tried to make prisoners in the middle of a firefight, they didn't checked who was piloting that at-st, they opened the door and simply surrendered to a paltry number of rebels (when they were supposed to have suicidal loyalty)

maybe palpatine died sooner than we thought and his battle meditation wore off quickly? the time lapses are never really all that clear in these films. as for han, he was a former imperial so i'm sure he still had some of the lingo down, and no commandeering was reported, so it's not like the empire had any idea of an at-st being stolen. also, the ewoks did attack, it's no different than when GIs stormed villages in vietnam, as was george's intention btw. i get where you're going, and gross incompetence did play a part, but the rebels also had luck on their side.

Count Dooku is one of my favorite characters so I decided to make a video were he appears as a force ghost to Luke Skywalker.

Heres the video, what do you think?

It's pretty good, but I would recommend trying to find some more sound clips of Dooku saying "Jedi". Maybe try to find ones that fit his tone better. Just some constructive criticism.

This. The Vong themselves feel more like something from 40k, and while they do somewhat fit the whole "alien invaders in an alien setting", they're just a fucking sledgehammer that fucks with the universe. Sure them fucking up Coruscant was a good example of an invasion done right, but fucking up the rest of the galaxy's severely hinders and limits future story tellers and even tabletop RPGs since you can no longer go to places like Nar Shadda (a very popular planet) because the Vong nuked it, and what should've been an era of adventure and excitement for Luke and the gang was instead an era of horror and pain made only worse by the needless sacrifice of Chewbacca. Abeloth on the other hand was a way better "vong" than the Vong and came at a time where the heroes would naturally have gotten lazy and too comfortable for their own good and would help to kick them off to one last attempt at saving the world.

more accurately, it would be diabolus ex machina. however, the spanish word diablo is more familiar, and is directly descended from the latin, so I thought that would make it easier to follow. but I guess you're right, I shouldn't cut corners.

The Vong saga put too much emphasis on Jaden, Ben, etc to set up the abomination that came *after* the Vong. Chewie dying was lame, and OT heroes felt needlessly old and worn out. Abeloth and beyond was better because zI felt that with Luke adventuring, he would realize the true Sith and horrors worse than them (but again fitting the universe) required enlightened and heightened training.

Vergere was the true gem of the Vong saga for me because it raised a very important point im what makes the OT and prequel eras different and fun; in the Old Republic/Prequel era, Jedi could do ridiculous stuff but were portrayed more like space cops and mediators, etc. They also fought more traditional Sith, dark Jedi, etc. The OT and post-OT focused more on fewer Jedi but more psychedelic aspects of them; they use the Force to do some crazy shit mentally and physically, with saber skills being a bit more basic (they are pretty much all Ataru students through and through).

Vergere's character is a connection to the past that should have been with Luke instead of Jaden. They fucked up by trying to do another Chosen One bs when Luke should have been the answer. Instead not only do you sit through the flaws of the Vong arc but then you already know that another series of books is incoming with everyone being the "old busted" and the New Republic hating Jedi, etc.

Their take on what a Jedi was, Vong saga and on, is/was the issue. Not the Vong themselves aside from the Force not affecting them. Zonama Sekot is the living planet…yet the Vong are unaffected? All good points raised by anons in this thread that I agree with. But the problems circle back to the actual state of the characters going into the saga. I also agree that "outside invasions" is out of place as the Galaxy is not a galaxy proper but a massive collective of known star systems. If the aggressors were a throwback to a previous era of proto Old Republic, it would have been better. The Anatti would have been a good choice.

The Vong have too many features that don't belong in Star Wars.

>They oppose the idea of the Universal Living Force.

>All the while opposing technology not based on life.

>Their aesthetics don't fit the genre(s) of Star Wars.

Garbage.

As a personal note, I would add that trashing Nar Shaddaa was a step too far.

Holy fuck. Test audiences must've really hated this mess. Looks like this movie is a guaranteed disaster if they're going into 3-4 months of reshootings despite the release being in December. This is fucking big. If reshoots are being down from July to October, that means a whole mess of shit is being redone. 3 fucking months. Movies in general are only in principle photography for around 4 months at best while reshoots for minor shit only last for 3 weeks. Disney is fixing something big either because they fucked up big time or someone leaked the story or ending online.
