What are some good SW fan projects to get your SW fix since Disney sucks dick? I found this fan film a few days ago and was wondering if there are others like it.

A few years ago, me and some friends wanted to make a Skyrim mod or a game that uses the Skyrim engine (yes its shit but its easy to edit) that recreates Endor. We initially started off by making 3D models of tree-goats, a kintan strider and a dandelion warrior, but we kinda lost track in the project due to our irl jobs.

Fan animation of the first chapter of Heir to the Empire. Animation quality looks like middle-school-project-tier but the voice for Thrawn is spot-on. I'd rather watch this guy do the entirety of the Thrawn trilogy than have to watch another Disney Star Wars film ever again.

>we could have had a fan-made animated labor of love as a sequel trilogy

>instead we get Jew Jew Wars

It's a shame about fan films, it seems like their time is up, since companies like Disney and CBS pump out raw sewage into our mouths, they don't want a group of fans with passion for the universe and a bit of CGI knowhow to create competition. I miss Axanar bros

There's a lot of good fan films, some of them are downright amazing, like Lost Patrol, Destroyer or I.M.P.S.. A lot of them are much better than this Vader thing they kicked up so much fuss about.

I legitimately think that fan creations like those, or our own attempt at continuing the EU in some way are the future of Star Wars. At least if the mouse doesn't put its foot down. For the moment they seem to be okay with fan projects, at least.

It can be pretty difficult for the little guy to fight off stuff like that. Copyright infractions definitely seem to be a "guilty until proven innocent" thing. Just look at how YouTube and other content hosting sites will take stuff down for copyright reasons without even confirming that the accusing party even owns the copyright.

by default it already is considered a parody. but the mouse, like george before them, wants to secure the idea that only official content is worthwhile. granted george never dicked down on fan films except for the basic "don't sell this shit" clause, but yidsney is extending that clause since they know how hard they've shit the bed. it's also not just fan films btw. they've been dicking down on bootleg merch as well. now if you want to make a custom star wars shirt you have to use a yidsney approved vendor. it also extends to the costuming clubs, like the 501st and mando mercs.

Just watched this fan edit and it was worth it. It's the prequels sewn together in a single film with a new script. Dialogue is given through subtitles with the Japanese dub for sound. The dub does its job well, though a few characters are good enough but not on the level of the original; Palpatine is one case, and though it's impossible to beat McDiarmid, his dubbing could've been better. Dialogue quality is superb, though sadly a few memorable lines such as "go home and rethink your life" are gone.

The main source material is RotS with TPM and AotC as flashbacks. Generally speaking it follows a linear course in RotS with not always linear intermissions from the previous two movies. There are differences in sequence, such as part of the outdoors battle of Geonosis taking place before the rescue in the arena, aswell as many omissions and deviations from the original plot, but it's fundamentally just the same tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. That's given even more focus and even many lines from other characters in scenes without Anakin are rewritten to be about him.

Copyright enforcement has been unkind and most links have been shut down. I've found a working one in 720p:

It's the official Japanese dub. The new English dialogue has no relationship with the Japanese words, they're there as a placeholder. The viewer can't understand a word (that's why an exotic language had to be chosen) but can still identify characters by voice and notice the emotional tone of their speech.

Blackened Mantle is pretty good but it could have stood to have dropped or at least shortened the Coruscant chase sequence and Obi-wan in the asteroid field, they don't really match the tone they're going for. The triple funeral of Qui-gon, Padme and Anakin at the end is kino though.

Has deepfakes or similar progressed enough to allow one to replace ugly actors with proper ones in a seamless manner? If so I would replace the nu-characets completely & the obnoxious forced diversity (including that minions rip off) cut up all three films and see if there is the chance to create 1 coherent film from the mess disney created.

Anon that posted on /film/ about making his own fantasy film.

I grew up with the EU, and a long time ago I had wanted to make a fan film where it was about an unnamed Jedi being hunted by Vader. It would be almost like the Predator, and would take place on a rain-soaked swampy/jungle planet (not Dagobah tier as a whole, but in certain areas. Mostly thinking South America type places). Vader would seem like this terrible monster, stalking and hunting these Jedi. He would do really insane, brutal killings; beheading Jedi, force blasting them into trees, etc. Similar to what Genndy did in his Clone Wars series with Asajj. The whole thing should essentially feel like Apocalypse Now's ending sequence, constantly, until the end, where we return to the nice sleek interiors of an Imperial Star Destroyer.

Quinlan Vos would eventually be involved as a Jedi living on the planet. He has a climactic battle with Vader, who does not hold back with Quinlan. Vos's death is ambiguous, though Vader eliminates several Jedi (his biggest killing spree yet), he feels that Vos is still out there. Because of this incident, any Jedi that did survive stay hidden out of fear of Vader.

But then TFA came out and I stopped reading or thinking about Star Wars for the most part.

Chapter 2 of Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. Adapted into a short fanfilm.

The Rebel Alliance has destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and driven the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet to a distant corner of the galaxy.

Princess Leia and Han Solo are married and expecting Jedi twins. And Luke Skywalker has become the first in a long-awaited line of Jedi Knights.

But thousands of light-years away, the last of the Emperor's warlords has taken command of the shattered Imperial fleet, readied it for war, and pointed it at the fragile heart of the New Republic….
