Neither was ever acceptable to me… if Owen was just Anakin brother, or even half brother, but someone who was raised with him, someone with real reasons to be pissed off with him (leaving their mother, siring a son and them diseappearing, becoming a galactic mass murderer and all) it would make much more sense and creating a real emotional link between them, his reasons for trying to keep Luke in a force-forsaken moisture farm and all.

or how about when obi-wan delivered luke, he said "this is your nephew, he has no other family, you must care for him" and owen decided he would raise him as a moisture farmer instead of letting him run off to fight in a shitty civil war? i'm sure obi-wan kept tabs on owen as well, throwing him advice every now and then.

I think Owen tried to keep Obi-Wan away as much as possible, can't say where I read it but he didn't want Luke to have anything to do with the force and thus told Obi-Wan to never let himself be seen. Perhaps it was the last jedi books?

Is that a rebels or CW episode? I haven't watched Rebels or the 3D CW reboot. I'm pretty sure it's the second book in the series, and Obi-Wan is watching Luke force move a ball as a toddler and Owen brings him in the house because the sun's are setting and he glares at Obi-Wan who is just out of view, then he monologs that Owen wants him to stay away lest he influence Luke. Unless I made that all up, but I'm pretty sure I didn't.
