I don't know if it was this writer's idea, or someone else's, but I love the concept that Tatooine was a lush planet full of life in the far past, and an ancient Empire totally destroyed it and just sucked the life right out of it. Adds a bit of poetry to A New Hope starting with a new modern Empire occupying it and inadvertently re-birthing the Jedi by pushing Luke onto his destined path.

Yeah, that's what I mean by it's still mysterious. At first I was worried that they would reveal the builders of the pyramids, but I like that it's left open ended. I feel like maintaining a sense of mystery and wonder is important for any story about Jedi or Sith, we want to know more, but we don't want to know too much.

The "builders" are never revealed, but it was likely the "Builders" aka the Celestials or the Kwa, the first two space traveling species. In fact it was the Kwa who taught the Rakata how to use the Force since the Kwa believed in helping other species develop. One of them probably made these pyramids who it was is a matter of speculation. Personally, I think it was a team effort since the Kwa did serve the Celestials in ancient times, but it would be interesting if the Tho Yor are something entirely born from the Force or truly mysterious.

Mostly this. I usually just tend to form some kind of silly personal headcanon to explain it off. Also I tried looking it up and neither of these issues seem to show up on lists of continuity issues. I could probably understand the sith one, but the lightsaber one seems pretty notable. Unless the original way to build them was lost at some point so they had to use a chord version.

Also aren't the Massassi just one race among the pureblood siths? They have several different castes each with their own unique appearance, with the Massassi being the more monstrous of the sith races.

A poor storytime for a great series. I stopped posting to just read the whole thing at once sometime during the first five issues, and then I lost the interest in commenting as it went as the series is so good that I don't think there's really much to say that one wont pick up from just experiencing it for themselves.
