Muslims worship satan. Their symbol is the moon and the morning star, both symbols of satan. When muhammed would have his "revelations" he would writhe, growl, and foam at the mouth, all classic symptoms of demonic posession.

SSPV > SSPX > Sedes

Tradition is important, and it's there for good reasons. We should however avoid LARPing and being "more papist than the Pope". Many online SSPX advocates are overly aggressive, in a way that seems quite at odds with a proper christian way of being. The actual SSPX, though, the one you find when you go to their chapels, is alright. They help preserve an important part of our faith that is way too often ignored. If I had to complain about them, I'd say they ignore ecclesiastical authorities way too often, and are sometimes a bit uncharitable towards other factions of the Church (even if we dislike modernist theology, we shouldn't berate the modernist themselves). But the real world SSPX is more calm and reasonable than the internet ones. Many of the people who online claim to adhere to the SSPX come off as "Holier than thou" extremist who started praying two months ago; nothing particularly wrong with that, but their faith may need some time to cool off and reach a more mature, cohesive state.

The FSSP is the definition of controlled opposition. There's a reason they still haven't been given a single bishop after 50 years. In my city they aren't even allowed their own church, they're forced to share a church with a Novus Ordo congregation and the FSSP priests are only allowed to call themselves "associate pastors," they're under the authority of the Novus Ordo priest.

Mainline Buddhist's teach reincarnation, in which they're taught to try to break free from. Even in my years as an atheist, these guys seemed nuttier than most religions. If there's nothing after life, wouldn't it make sense to desire extending our existence here indefinitely? Christians seem to have a better grasp of what they want by comparison in this regard.

I remember asking a Buddhist promoting their nonsense on campus once about this, and his answer to if humans ever created immortality, was the only way for Buddhists to remain consistent was to abstain from it, since the goal is to reach Nivana.

bbd007 No.10823 [Open thread]

ROME - Recently - and, many observers would say, belatedly - the Catholic Church has awoken to the reality of anti-Christian persecution around the world. The emblematic case is the Nineveh Plains in northern Iraq, where Catholic organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and Aid to the Church in Need have meant the difference between life and death for a resilient Christian minority struggling to rebuild post-ISIS.

Pope Francis routinely talks about anti-Christian persecution as a fact of life in the early 21st century, invoking an “ecumenism of blood” to express the reality that oppressors don’t generally make distinctions among the types of Christianity practiced by their victims.

This activism is warranted by the threats faced by tens of millions of Christians around the world - to invoke the language of the Catholic Mass, it is “right and just.” For a Catholic witness to be effective, however, it must be consistent and apply across the board, lest it seem mere confessional self-interest.

And that, by a short route, brings us to the small town of Cuamontax Huazalingo, Mexico, population around 700 souls, located in Hidalgo State in the central part of the country just north of Mexico City.

Last Sunday, four Protestants were kicked out of town by village leaders in Cuamontax Huazalingo, apparently in retaliation for their refusal to sign an agreement barring Protestants from entering the community and also for a press conference held by their lawyer accusing the Mexican government of failing to defend religious freedom.

A home belonging to Gilberto Badillo, his adult son Uriel Badillo and their wives, all Missionary Baptists, was attacked on Sunday while they were away, with all their belongings carted off and the windows smashed in order to make the home uninhabitable. In consequence, the Badillos left town and sought refuge in a nearby city.

According to religious freedom watchdog groups, there was ample warning the family was in danger but local and regional government officials refused to intervene, instead giving interviews to media blaming the family for theirPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I recently came across a video after doing some research into the Orthodox church in which a friar was telling jokes about Jesuits and the like and I literally did not understand a single one of the jokes.

Could anyone who knows more about these orders explain the historical/doctrinal reasons for these jokes to someone who isn't well versed the Church?

Here's a list but im going to post a specific joke in the thread: https://www.ignatianspirituality.com/dotmagis-blog/more-jesuit-jokes/

A Dominican and a Franciscan both die and go to heaven. Standing before the pearly gates St Peter checks his list and says "Ah here you are! Let me go make sure your accommodations are ready."

Then, all of a sudden, choirs start singing and angles come out and the saints start chanting the Dominicans name. Saint Thomas Aquinas, St Dominic and the Virgin Mary herself greet the Dominican on a cloud and say "come brother, let us take you to our lord" and the Dominican flies off on a cloud with them

The Franciscan is left dumbstruck and wonders in anticipation which saints will come to meet him! So he sits there and he waits… and waits… and a few hours go by and he gets impatient when suddenly a friar comes and finds him

"Oh you're still here? come on come on…" and takes him through the gates and the Franciscan asks "wait which saints would greet me? I was expecting Francis and Anthony and Bonaventure!" and the friar sighs "Ugh, you're a Franciscan we've got hundreds of you in heaven, it's not everyday you get a Dominican!"

Seriously someone explain these jokes. I usually can understand jokes even if I don't get them but I'm completely drawing a blank here.

A Franciscan and a Jesuit were arguing about whether the Franciscans or the Jesuits were more favored by God. Finally, they decided that the only one who could settle the matter was God. So they prayed, the heavens opened up, and a piece of paper came fluttering down. When they picked it up, this is what it said,

My children,

Please stop quarreling about such absurd and trivial matters.

Sincerely,

God, O.P.

No, there is God's will to take into account as well, and clearly some requests/prayers are not helpful.

Incorrect, you can ask God what you want. Whether he gives it or not is not you to decide

>>7501

No, it's not. even Jesus ask silly things like delivered from the cross.

>>7638

Well, it's not like asking them to sin or anything. According to how Jesus gather his disciples, maybe God will show them some signs/ideas to put it in motion.

It's been 2000 years. Where is he? Many of the early Christians thought he would come back in their lifetimes, or shortly after. But he didn't. 2000 years later there hasn't been a sound. Where is he? Why couldn't the Almighty One do it all at once? Why does there have to be two comings? Sounds like a cop out belief system. Seems like because he didn't fulfill all the prophecies of the holy Tankah, an idea of a second coming was made up by you guys to solve this problem.

Spotted the jew

Of the 500 or so people who claimed to see Jesus risen from the dead, the vast majoirty of them went to their bloody deaths refusing to renounce Him? People aren't willing to die for something they know is a lie, and hallunciation could only explain a few. Even then it would be debatable because people cannot share hallucinations.

>but some of them did renounce

A very small minority yes, it's more likely that they were lying to avoid punishment then that the majority were lying to receive punishment.

Many people have actually died for a lie. But no one dies for what they know is a lie. If the disciples stole the body of Jesus, then claimed he rose from the dead, they suffered and died for what they knew was a lie.

I’ve been thinking about going the non denominational route.

Don’t get me wrong brothers, I think there is usually great wisdom in the old adage that “you should grow where you’re planted” and I have no problems with the protestant Lutheran church I was raised in but I’ve simply come to believe over time that denominationalism simply does not matter in the big picture.

Loving one another and having faith in our lord and savior Jesus Christ and asking him for forgiveness of our sins is really all thats required but to each their own.

Perhaps the lord calls others to be a part of this denomination or that because something about that particular way of doung things best aids a specific person in their individual spiritual growth.

After all as much as we are all alike as human beings we are all still very different in personality and temperament.

If it didn't mean anything to be associated with a denomination then you wouldn't be deciding to leave the one you're coming from

I think non-denom churches are just fine and have been part of a few myself, but if we're honest with ourselves anything we articulate in theology has probably already been said before so you're in line with someone (Baptist ecclesiology, Lutheran soteriology etc)

There is great value in identifying with a historic tradition in particular but at any place and at any time it's definitely possible that non associating is better

The important thing is being saved - everything else comes after. I'd always suggest people belong to a God-fearing Bible-believing Baptist church but you could attend every service in such a church and remain unsaved. Denomination always comes a distant, distant second to accepting your salvation in Christ.

>That's not what your verse is saying they're doing

Yes it is.

>"Crying unto God" can be done by anything that can make sound

If you could interpret a translation in multiple ways, you look at the original text for clarity instead of simply interpreting the translation to fit your preconceived idea of what it should mean. KJV is poor on this phrase, it should say "call" not "cry". The word is qara, it means to call, to name, to speak out, to read aloud. It is used 734 times in the bible, and only ever used in the context of speech or names. Like "And God called the light Day and the darkness he called Night" or "And Adam called his wife's name" or "And she called the name of the LORD". It is never used in the context of an animal making a normal animal sound.

>>10906

>>bu-but even fedoras use my arguments!

That's not what I said. Try reading.

>thinks animal overpopulation is "bizarre" and only makes sense when applied to humans

It does not say they will be overpopulated, it says they will be too many for us to deal with. Your examples are literally populations we can deal with, none of those pose any threat to us at all. And again, it says beasts of the field, not wild animals. What beast of the field could become too numerous for us to deal with? Do you think cows or horses can breed to the point of becoming a threat to us?

>Because I'm starting to think only a beast could be low IQ enough to produce posts like yours.

If my posts are so stupid, why are you incapable of a rebuttal? You failed to rebut the beasts calling to the Lord, you ignored the beasts wearing sack cloth, you ignored the beasts having hands, you ignored the beasts of the field eating grapes and olives, and you have presented absolutely no scripture to support your belief that negroes are of Adam.

>It says "neither judean nor greek". It says nothing about negroes

It also says nothing about chinese, romans, Babylonians, Egyptians, eastern Europeans, germans, and the british. Does that mean they're excluded too? I know you're going to pull another argument out of your ass saying "b-b-but the Greeks were white therefore ALL whites!!!"

>Repeating this idiocy in every thread is bad enough, but maybe read the OP first? The entire thread is about how Philistines were white.

Yeah, and Moses's wife was Ethiopian, yet she was not described as a beast in the Bible. Let me guess, you're going to reply a low IQ rhetoric of how Europeans were ETHIOPIANS N SHIEET since Moses's wife was not called a beast. You /pol/niggers are too predictable.

>And anything the poor people don't eat, the beasts of the field can have. It specifically mentions grapes and olives. What beast of the field eats grapes and olives? Not cattle, not horses, not donkeys. What else would be working fields

>Mfw you actually think this is a valid argument

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Plenty of animals eat grapes, you retard. Deer, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, possum, and birds, just to give an example. In Solomon 2:15 it clearly states that foxes ruin the vineyards. But let's dig a little more. Since Exodus takes place in between Egypt and modern-day Israel, let's look at the animals who DO eat fruits. And

Grapes are clearly fruit.
