I am very blessed in many ways. However, I had a tough relationship with a women. I was homeless for several years. I have no friends. My family is ok to me. However, they don't really like me.

Anyway… I smoke and drink coffee to ease the pain, and because I can't stop.

I'm terrified of God's Judgement.

Don't you think it's important for me to stop these activities to get to heaven, Brothers?

Neither tobacco nor caffeine are intoxicating. There is nothing wrong in that aspect with those substances.

If you're not honoring your body as a temple, especially with tobacco, you sure need to stop.

However, salvation is NOT contingent on works, and the Christian will be fighting with sin constantly his whole life. Your salvation is not in peril because you use these things. You are saved by faith.

First, don't get disturbed by anything. Once a saint said "at the disturbance the enemy stays and at the peace – God stays". Don't be disturbed even if you can't break your bad habits right now. Just wait for the moment when you will feel an inspiration in your hearth telling you "now is the time to finally be free of this". And act accordingly with no fear. When you have to do something according to God's will, even if it seems difficult at first, it ends with relief (unlike what the devil suggests us to do, which seems very desirable at first but ends miserably).

And by the way, there are other, even more important things, you'll have to change in your life as a Christian. Just have faith that God loves you and be grateful that in proper time you will be given the option to put off your old man, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24)

>Don't you think it's important for me to stop these activities to get to heaven, Brothers?

Unfortunately, the various Christian denominations have very different opinions about the requirements for our salvation.

It is my understanding that according to the Catholicism, our salvation requires proper balance between good and evil. For example, I think the official Catholic catechism speaks only against excessive use of tobacco but not against the use of tobacco in principPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Every morning I wake up and just go through the motions of my life. I can't shake the feeling of complete meaningless. I fell into a dark night and never came out of it. Prayer does nothing for me anymore, nor does studying scripture. I feel like nothing I do matters, there is no point to my existence. All I ever see is constant change, everyone and everything changing, including myself, and it makes me feel extreme depression at times. I just cannot feel God anymore, all I feel like is a drop in a meaningless universe… :(

Well, what do you pray for? Prayer seems unreal to you the second it isn't genuine. Remember, you became a Christian in the first place by being open to God, therefore He imparted His grace, and met you in the middle. If the prayer is genuine, then similarly, the faith that you will receive will be given to you, and every fear will depart. Every act or thought in relation to God is prayer, from that first openness to God, down to now, this is all He desires.

So, may I propose that if it's not working, that you've become inhibited for one reason or other, and set up an internal wall, and asked Him to come no further. Unfortunately, this self-imposed isolation just won't do if you've known God's goodness.

It may be hard, but you have to push onward and side with God's interest in you.

He doesn't need a Nintendo Switch. :)

I will not accept calves from your house

nor young he-goats from your folds,

because all wild animals of the forest are mine,

beasts on the mountains and cattle.

I know all the birds of the air,

and a field’s beauty is with me.

“If I am hungry, I will not tell you,

for the world is mine and its fullness.

Surely, I shall not eat flesh of bulls

or drink blood of he-goats?

Offer to God a sacrifice of praise,

and pay your vows to the Most High.

And call on me in a day of affliction,

and I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

I remembered the following beautiful hymn by St. Ephrem the Syrian (4th century).

The Lord is a wise giver. He looks at the benefit of the petitioner, and as soon as he sees that what he asks is harmful, or at least useless to him, he does not fulfil the request and refuses the imaginary benefit. He listens to every prayer, and he whose prayer is not fulfilled receives from the Lord as much a saving gift as he whose prayer is fulfilled.

Whether a needy or a debtor come to the Good One, he will give to the former and he will forgive the latter. Therefore, both depart from the door of the Giver with gifts: the needy receives deliverance from the need, and the debtor – the abandonment of the debt.

In all possible ways God shows that he is a gracious giver: he gives us his love and shows us his mercy. Which is why he does not answer any wrong prayer, the fulfilment of which would bring us death and destruction.

However, even in this case, by denying the requested, he does not leave us without a very useful gift; for the very fact that he removes from us the harmful, he already opens for us the door of his generosity.

Be assured, therefore, that every petition which is not granted is certainly injurious; and that petition which is heard is beneficial. The giver is just and good, and he will not leave your petitions unfulfilled, because In his goodness there is no malice, and in his righteousness there is no envy.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was immaculately conceived.

The Virgin Mary, Mother of God, was conceived without original sin.

The Virgin Mary had no original sin in her Heart.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was born without any sin.

The Blessed Mother never experienced sin, venial, mortal, original.

The Blessed Virgin was assumed into Heaven.

The Blessed Virgin was crowed Queen of all creation.

The Blessed Virgin is the only human person to have been completely sinless.

No. The proof is the word kecharitomine.

>we need a reason to conclude that Mary never committed a sin.

Again, kecharitomine. She was a young adult at the time of Gabriel's salutation.

>Mary was only human while Jesus is the God man.

He gets His human nature from her.

>the scriptural argument for Mary's sinlessness is implied at best

In Genesis 3:15, it's clear that the woman is the Virgin Mary and her "seed" is the Christ. She had enmity with the devil, given by God Himself. In Apocalypse 12 we have the same parable, but now fulfilled. At the end of Apocalypse 11, John identifies the Ark of the covenant, and then immediately starts talking about the woman clothed with the sun, and her child, who was to rule with an iron rod (Jesus, also a reference to the Psalms). Scripturally, in the Gospel of Luke, it's clear that Luke is trying to show that Mary is the new Ark, with her magnificat resembling what David said, the fact that David leaps before the Ark, in a similar manner, John the Baptist leaps in the womb of Elizabeth when greeted by the Virgin, It talks about Mary being "overshadowed" like what happened with the Ark, etc.

>No. The proof is the word kecharitomine.

The evidence that the word should be understood to mean "immaculately conceived" is the connotation, based on the quotations provided in the article:

<However, I still haven't really gotten to my argument: whatever the denotation of "chaire, Kecharitomene," its connotation, what it actually meant to ancient Greek-speakers, is why it is communicating precisely that Mary was immaculately conceived.

You're not addressing the arguments I presented

No. That's completely wrong. Those statements are only true about Jesus Himself. Mary was just a woman who was blessed by God, but not any more special or holy than any other Christian woman.

>While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”

>He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_day_of_obligation

>In the Catholic Church, holy days of obligation (also called holydays, holidays, or days of obligation) are days on which the faithful are expected to attend Mass, and engage in rest from work and recreation, according to the Third Commandment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_sin

>A mortal sin (Latin: peccatum mortale), in Catholic theology, is a gravely sinful act, which can lead to damnation if a person does not repent of the sin before death. A sin is considered to be "mortal" when its quality is such that it leads to a separation of that person from God's saving grace. The sins against the Holy Ghost and the sins that cry to Heaven for vengeance are considered especially serious.[1] This type of sin should be distinguished from a venial sin that simply leads to a weakening of a person's relationship with God. Despite its gravity, a person can repent of having committed a mortal sin. Such repentance is the primary requisite for forgiveness and absolution.[2]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_sin#Actions_constituting_grave_matter

>Missing Mass

>"[T]he faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispensed by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin."[47]

>"Even if in the earliest times [Mass attendance] was not judged necessary to be prescriptive, the Church has not ceased to confirm this obligation of conscience, which rises from the inner need felt so strongly by the Christians of the first centuries. It was only later, faced with the half-heartedness or negligence of some, that the Church had to make explicit the duty to attend Sunday Mass: more often than not, this was done in the formPost too long. God made me both extremely ugly and profoundly stupid. Because of this, I'm an incel. But I'm not bitter about it. I'm actually quite content with it and I have nothing against women. I'm sexually attracted to women but, assuming there is anyone out there who might find me attractive, I don't even think I would want to be romantically involved because I can't really relate to anyone or express my emotions and the idea of physical closeness makes me cringe. Also I know I would never be able to fulfill all of my hypothetical partner's needs or live up to their standards. There is truly nobody for me. I think this is a gift though. Celibacy is a noble path that God laid out for many. Our Lord himself was a virgin because he came to save us, not reproduce with us. St. Paul was also an asexual for the Kingdom of God. I think God making me ugly and stupid and repulsed by emotions is a gift and I think being an incel is a gift. It allows me to focus on God more instead of a romantic partner. If you're an incel, embrace it. God has gifted you! Perhaps one day, if I feel I am being called to it, I'll become a monk. But I don't know yet. I don't know where God is leading me.

Paul wasn't asexual, he was celibate. I think that's what you meant anyway.

I hope your analysis of your situation is accurate because it would be an awful shame if you never married when you're capable and there are fine Christian women who would marry you. Same for anyone else in your situation.

>If you're an incel, embrace it. God has gifted you!

You should say "unmarried". An incel is one who wants sexual activity (married or not) but can't achieve it for whatever reason. Someone who's in that situation, say for some physical deformity, wasn't gifted by God in his deformity, but you're right that in his unmarriedness he can serve the Lord.

As the previous anon pointed out, "an incel is one who wants sexual activity but can't achieve it". It literally means "involuntary celibate". The term originated in wizard imageboards. The correct term here would be "volcel", meaning "voluntary celibate". It used to describe the wiz-anons who were happy with being wizards.

Considering that the nature of men is to have a certain level of testosterone, and that this level has been plummeting down for years due to various reasons, we now see lots of men that could be considered lesser men. Part of it is their fault, part of it is the corruption of their body by external factors.

How christian is self TRT then, since it doesn't alter the nature of man, but instead fights against the very same factors that do?

i have been irreligious for the last ten years. I was raised a Pentecostal Christian and baptized as a Moravian Christian.

I committed a grave sin lately, the guilt and shame is killing me. There is a Greek Orthodox Church near me and I am thinking about going. Has anyone here converted to Orthodox rather than have been born into and can give me some advice?

Only ELCA. ELCA is garbage. Other Lutheran denominations joke that ELCA actually stands for "Everything Luther Cautioned Against." WELS and LCMS are both very good churches. I actually like LCMS a lot. I don't belong to any particular denomination, but if I had to pick one, LCMS would be my first choice.

>You should be skeptical of the greek orthodox church. They are rife with corruption, cozy with liberal politicians

By "Greek Orthodox Church" the anon meant 'a place of worship of the true God near the place he lives'. The Body of Christ, on the other hand, is the One Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church, the Orthodox Church. It is neither Greek, nor Hebrew, nor of any other nationality on Earth because There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Gal. 3:28)

>Martin Luther and evangelical protestantism has the answer you need, because it's the answer from the Bible. Luther was overwhelmed with anguish as a sinner under God's judgment until he found the answer that salvation is by faith, "sola fide".

The Catholics believe in a God who has commanded some rules to determine who will be admitted in the heaven and who won't be. A bad person who follows the rules will go to heavens (for example a bad person who buys his absolution). But if someone has not followed the rules, then he is condemned by God for eternity.

The Protestants believe in God who condemns for eternity a good person who doesn't believe in Christ and admits in the heavens a bad person who says he believes in Christ and salvation by faith only.

Both conceptions are ethically objectionable, but more importantly they both are utopia and impossible. Look at the people around you and see how much suffering is caused by sins. Hatred, depression, strive for vanity, lack of compassion, ignorance, etc. If you place all these people with their passions in the heavens then the heavens will become hell.

The Orthodox do not believe in God who has sent his Son to be killed so that he can be satisfied by the blood of his son and allow sinners in the heavens. We believe in God who has sent his Son to be killed so that we may be healed from our sins. Salvation means healing and restoration of Post too long. Click here to view the full text.

The Catholic church is the original one that all of the other churches have broken free of, or are based on. Whether or not you like Catholic church is fine. If you want to have finer discussions of different faiths within Christianity. You really aught to make another board just for that faith. Christians all share the same source. Jesus Christ. There are different interpretations along the way. Those have caused endless pain for so many good, kind and faithful believers. Jesus spent time with the sinners. That is where he was needed. Do spend some time with the sinners. Living in an echo chamber will make you become less tolerant of other faithful people.

Yep

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead

and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,.

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Thought I’d make a thread on Christian music.

Anyone hear this album? It’s cover makes it look like generic wal-mart Christian country, but it’s actually a beautiful story told through amazing shoegaze. Definitely worth a listen

Sadly no. But Middle Class were one of the best and earliest hardcore bands. First super-fast band. But I don't know of s single \Christian band from early hardcore and I followed it pretty closely. Circle Jerks were Jews.

I noticed /christian/ had a lot of censorship so I'm starting a new board. I promise not to delete anything simply because I disagree.

Guidelines

1. Christians who follow the Nicene Creed are all welcome
2. Non-believers who are interested in Christianity are welcome
3. Try to be civil
4. Trolls may be welcome, but spam is not

Rules:
1. Nothing illegal
2. No censorship unless the moderator leaves a post as to what was deleted.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. -John 8:32
