I notice the subject of Free Will and Predestination along with the differences between the Churches on this subject barely gets talked about because of the mystery aspect of it or people just wanna be idiotic asswipes who could give two s— about their Christian faith and find homage in contemporary christian music and the prayer section in the latest Reader's Digest. But, I think it is an interesting discussion to start. Below, I have covered the differences in Protestantism and Catholicism with Free Will and Predestination. I haven't even covered the Orthodox Churches. But, this begs a question, How can Christians even agree on the Nature of God, Free Will, and Predestination when there are so many differences in belief? We shall see.

For Calvin, humanity possesses "free will", but it is in bondage to sin, unless it is "transformed".

For Luther, humanity possesses free-will/free choice in regard to "goods and possessions," but regarding "salvation or damnation" people are in bondage either to God or Satan."

For Arminius, humanity possesses freedom from necessity, but not "freedom from sin" unless enabled by "Prevenient Grace".

The Catholic Church has a lot of doctrine on Free Will and Predestination. But, many sources I believe are very unclear about the the Catholic Church's position on this. I found a good source below to explain this using Marriage as an example.

The Catholic Church does not believe in predestination because it goes against the free will. If God has already chosen a future spouse for you, before you were born, then you have no free will. God controls your destiny. And if God controls your destiny, how do we know if God has not already determined who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell at the end of their earthly life? - Catholic Doors Ministry

Predestination has no place in the Catholic Church. Equally, soul mates, as defined by the general population, has no place in the Catholic Church. - CPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Mormonism IS NOT Christian

Mormons ARE NOT saved

For this reason, we need to counter mormonism wherever we can.

>Famous "Mormon Jesus" cartoon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3BqLZ8UoZk

>"Latter Day Satans: Mormons Exposed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la41vzXtnwU (Steven Anderson & Co documentary)

QRD on the Mormon history:

>2nd great awakening in the US

>Poor, charismatic young man Joseph Smith claims to have visions and to uncover ancient, undiscovered scriptures in New York

>Scriptures are translated, followers are gathered

>Smith is a Prophet

>Move to Missouri

>Driven out, move to Illinois

>Driven out, Smith killed by angry mob, begin exodus to unsettled Utah

>Time passes. Exponentially increase via birthrates and zealous proselytizing

>Doctrine develops. US govt intervenes. Schisms form.

Mormon doctrine basics:

>4 holy books: Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price

>President is a prophet who regularly receives special revelation from God regarding doctrine

>Almost everyone goes to heaven, which has several levels

>There are an infinite number of gods and worlds

>Everyone previously had a spiritual life before physical birth

>Satan and Jesus are brothers

>Mormons ultimately strive to become Gods of other worlds in the afterlife

Consider this: Mormons (members of The Church of Jesus Christ) know the Bible better than any other Christian religion: https://www.pewforum.org/2010/09/28/u-s-religious-knowledge-survey/

Also, data is clear that they are also much better at living the principles of the Bible, including observing the Sabbath Day, living a morally superior lifestyle to other Christian sects.

How then can any Christian make the assertion that "Mormons are not Christian"? It feels like an immature child throwing a temper tantrum.

No one is "saved" you silly retard. There are no reasons to believe in an fter-life. Sure, Mormons are of stupid and fraudulent origin. Who could argue against that? Only Mormons would even rey to argue for Mormonism, but that doesn't mean what you believe in is not stupid.

Alright guys, I know that /christian/ already has this thread, but we have all probably been permabanned from there, and so we should have our own. I don't know what the BO thinks abut pinning threads like this or this (>>3945), but maybe he should think about it.

Pornography is a universal problem that probably affects many of us here. It is completely evil and a battle that no Christian should fight alone - hopefully we can mutually encourage and help one another in this thread.

If anyone is struggling and needs building up, or wants to share what God has done for them to defeat sexual sin, please post about it.

I've gone a good 3 months without looking at porn. I read the Bible some as a child but my family never took it serious at all so it sort of didn't become a part of my life through my youth. In the past month I started reading the Bible again and regret not starting it sooner. I have learned so much more from it as an adult and am beginning to feel a lot more connected to it. All though I have still fapped on occasion in the past 3 months, I have done it without porn each time. I can't believe how much better I feel, I have not felt this good ever. I'm really impressed that some of you can go without fapping and I hope to reach that point sometime but I am just glad I am no longer addicted to porn and fapping like I was. I was truly becoming a disgusting worthless sinner.

>>11192

It absolutely does. Just within 3 months I have seen insane benefits cutting the porn out. My productivity has skyrocketed and my short and long term memory came back. Constantly flooding your brain with the dopamine (similar to drugs) absolutely messes you up. Also, my anxiety has dropped a lot and my overall mood has improved every week so far. I'll never go back to how addicted I was, its truly awful.

Creator of /christian/ here. Every few months or year or so I look up what's happened to the board, and it's very cool that someone made this, it's pretty much what I've been looking for. I'm not active on any imageboard anymore, and found this thread from searching something very close to the thread subject. I think that maybe someone would find my perspective on this interesting. As a disclaimer, I won't be commenting on the "ethical" character of other board owners or mods or anything, basically because I never knew them aside from the two mods I originally put in place.

I started going on 4chan in 2009 when I was 13 (a friend on facebook who I never met posted funny photo albums and had things that referenced 4chan), and was on /b/, then /x/ and /lit/, /news/(if that's what it was called) and /pol/ once it was remade. My use of 4chan declined gradually over the years, but I was still looking at it everyday for quite some time. I actually became a Christian in January of 2014, from, in an Earthly sense, online material not from any imageboard (if anyone remembers the Christian threads on /pol/ Zimmerman trial era, those weren't what did it.)

I got to 8chan because of the pretty monumental gamergate drama, which I was honestly only passively interested in after a couple weeks, as I had hardly played video games by that point for at least a year or two (still never picked it back up), and could never keep up with the details of the whole thing. There was the "exodus", and I really liked the idea of 8chan, with all of the excitement of something new and all of the endless little boards that I spent a lot of time going on; small literary boards, writing, secret boards, ones made for small groups of people, etc. I was out of /pol/ in an ideological sense by September of 2014, and I think it's important to remember that 8chan didn't have anywhere near as much stigma as it does today. 8chan's /pol/ was pretty much straight up National Socialist if I recall correctly (and it had like 5 long stickies on the front page which I thought was funny), but otherwise the website was defined by gamergate and free speech. Within a few days of me learning about 8chan, I decided to make /christian/ by myself, without a ton of thought, but I hoped that it would grow. I thought that it probably wouldn't go anywhere, since I had noPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I was active on a lot of boards anonymously, mostly small ones, and stayed away from /pol/ and the gamergate stuff. Other than a few scattered posts on long dead boards, I think you could see my posts as Alex. on the 8chan meta from 2014-to maybe early 2016. I was primarily concerned with keeping the board clean from pornography and gore and very blatant trolling, and since it was quite small, wasn't too worried about any precedent I was setting, and figured it would stay small, so it wouldn't be an issue. I intended it to be pretty informal I suppose, and *not* a church or anything, so I wasn't too concerned with policing discourse except for things that weren't Christian. I was actually concerned that a lot of irreligious people would turn it into a sort of "here's why Christianity is wrong" battleground, but that never really materialized. The first non trolling "threat" that I had to decide what to do with was the "Positive Christianity" stuff, which was basically Nazis interpreting Christianity through Nazism, and since I knew a lot of those people were on /pol/ I didn't want to have the board slide into that.

I was happy to see the board grow, and was surprised at how much it took off and managed to not just turn into a far-right /pol/ replica. A couple of notes of trivia would be that I remember the owner of /islam/ wishing us Merry Christmas, a guy named smiely from the asatru board offering a board skin that I didn't accept (but appreciated the offer), and me offering to co-admin a debate board with the owner of the atheism board, /atheist/ or /atheism/, which he declined, as he was fine having that stuff on his board. Also, I had nothing to do with the IRC or the twitter that apparently exists. I posted on the IRC a couple of times, though.

The first bit of "drama" that came about was me getting two moderators, one named Seminaranon and another named Fr. Milch, I think. The first was a Lutheran seminary student in the Midwest and the other was a Catholic, who I think was from Germany. I was 18 and a senior in high school at the time, and had to get up pretty early to drive to school, which meant that I had to go through the report queue every morning as the board was Post too long. Most people who were giving it the benefit of doubt realized it was just another splinter-group of modern leftism in practice.

Preaching the same things but with a mildly upset tone about the actual end-result of their preaching as if that somehow changes anything.

Didn't help that people from these type of boards went on one of the select few places on the internet, and in the entire west, where you can argue against the status quo merely in order to preach the exact same core dogma of the status quo; that native europeans should give up their thousands of years old homelands and collective resources to hand over both to their oppressors for X, Y and Z arbitrary reasons. (some were even duplicitous about it, stating ambiguous views over there while haranguing them the second they popped onto discord or old 8ch)

Aside from those who already believe Christ is the way, net-christians aren't telling them anything they haven't already heard from secular anti-porn, anti-abortion and anti-white advocates at this point.

That's my view at least, as a lurker who gave people on here the benefit of the doubt very early on back on 4ch pol and actually argued against the anti-christians before seeing the same old two-faced selectively tribal gaslighting once on here.

so, guys, I may be barred from joining a church that I've been attending for nearly two years because I told the pastor, in confidence, that I don't *like* interracial marriage. I made it clear that I don't claim any biblical proof for this, but I do consider it a strong opinion/value. sad thing is that these people are like family to me at this point. I don't know how I can leave now.

IMO th 10 plagues of Egypt are reasonably

those 10 plagues, what were those simple

th entire plagues may have taken years

as opposed to th time line looking like

only a few days, most likely years in th

cue th one I'd know th most of to reveal

your understanding on th other plagues,

th 10th plague being a contagion that th

yep, me I believe th 10th plague were a contagion,

th lambs blood on th door lintels killed that contagion

yep, for me if you can there are very reasonable

explanations for all quote miracles that happened,

to be practical,

I don't believe that Yehuda showed upin a toga to tell Jacob about circumcisionbut it were possibly in reality learning thispractice from others in that area& Jacob attributed th health practiceto Yehuda speaking through othersto help him safe guard vs th healthproblems related to a foreskin intact,

th infections surrounding an intact foreskin& how Jacob would have learned this healthpractice, any good thing could be attributedto Yehuda as Yehuda using ppl as hishands to educate ppl or increasea person's way to more success,

to hear of positive practices others use& attribute any form of increase toth providence of Yehuda that were exposed inany way for a person to learn for any increase in life,

Is the Holy Ghost female? I know in Greek he is neuter but isn't the Holy Spirit in Aramaic feminine? Jesus spoke Aramaic so would he have used female pronouns for the Holy Ghost?

All three of you could be correct and here is why. Adam, in the day he was created, was in the image of God. What does that mean? In Genesis 5:1-2

>THIS is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

>Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Adam and Eve in the day they were created were called Adam, since its like marriage. The wife takes the name of the husband in the marriage. So going back to Genesis 1:27-28

>So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

So God created Adam and Eve, calling them Adam and then gave the order in verse 28

>And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

He ordered them being a single unit, in the day they were created and called Adam, to be fruitful and multiply. That is what the image of God is, being able be fruitful and multiply as a single unit. God does not require a wife to reproduce/create things. Nor did Adam in the day they were created as God ordered Adam to be fruitful and multiply the very next verse. But shortly thereafter when Eve was taken out of Adam was Adam no longer able to be fruitful and multiply by himself like God can, therefore was no longer in the image of God. See Matthew 19:3-6

>The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

>And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at thePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

The idea of a feminine "holy spirit" might comes from the kabalistic-jewish idea of the chechinah or Shekinah spirit. Which is the female expression of the jewish maingod Ein Sof.

Also Shekinah or anything similar is not in the new, not in the old Testament but comes straight from the Kabalah.

There was this jewish couple on Trunews teaching a tiny bit about "Adam Kadmon" which is another jewish fable about Adam being a mixed being partly male and female.

However you can take from the bible quite certain, that Adam wasn't divided into male and female later.

But God made Adm in his picture and then took the rib of Adam later and made Eve out of his rib. Not out of the "leftover female body parts" or something.

Can the holy ghost fullfill the requirements of being female?

To be female you need to be able to bear children, have female genetics, female bodily structure. Since the holy ghost is not made of flesh, he can obviously not be female.

The aspects of Catholicism that are from Roman spirituality and religious outlook mainly have to do with latin theological leanings and the Roman mind's conception of the episcopate, with things like the "Pontifex Maximus" being particularly illustrative of this current.

I think you would be at home in the apostolic Orthodoxy from the original Churches of the Pentarchy, which are the original five apostolic Churches of the Uniate Church, now split between Rome and the 4 others, Antioch, Alexandria, Constantinople, and Jerusalem. The Roman Church has arguably drifted, but Apostolic tradition has been maintained.

If you are caught up in the theological debates of the highest in the Church you are probably getting in your own way and should just focus on worshipping the Lord on the Sabbath and repenting of your sins. May the Holy Spirit witness to you the truth of all things in Christ

To be clear, you cannot "convert". You inherit a tradition, or you adopt traditional forms that are spiritually expedient, but you cannot "become" Orthodox or Catholic by choice but must be initiated by proper priesthood authority, in the same way that you cannot be initiated into Protestantism without first publicly declaring belief in Jesus.

Nobody can kill Christianity. Not boomers. Not communists. Not Diocletan. Not even Christians themselves.

Because this religion is the only one that is from God. And God promised that this church will prevail against the gates of hell even in the tribulations of the end times

I wasn't so sure at the time of writing that post, but now i can say for a certain, i am definately going to end up starting my own sect. Not that its my goal, but its what my current conclusions will inevitably lead to. All i have left now is continue my study and pray to the Almighty for his guidance

"sects" are a profane invention of the Protestant world and have no place if one remains true to Orthodoxy, the Orthodoxy which is the eternal truth of the living God. What exactly are you saying distinguishes you from the mother Church in the minds of congregants?

Do you aim to be within Communion and in recognition of the priesthood given to the apostles and passed down through the centuries? Or instead will this be a closed communion of your own congregants? I ask none of these with a particular answer from you in mind, I am curious.

How am I to understand spiritual gifts?

Protestants only please.

I am thoroughly convinced of cessationism; the charismatic gifts have ceased. This is the dominant opinion throughout church history until the last 100 years with the introduction of the pentecostal and charismatic movements. The Westminster and London Baptist confession are both cessationist. Here's an article from spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle for cessationism: https://www.metropolitantabernacle.org/Christian-Article/Cessationism-Proving-Charismatic-Gifts-have-Ceased-Sword-and-Trowel-Magazine

But, there are still said to be non-charismatic spiritual gifts that are continuing.

>Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that. (1 Cor 7:7)

Does this indicate that every believer has a spiritual gift, like most conclude? I hesitate to say so because Paul is talking about his chastity, being unmarried, and the gift of being unmarried is never listed as a spiritual gift. The whole chapter does not touch on spiritual gifts at all.

These are the alleged lists of spiritual gifts. They do not all match, which isn't necessarily a problem.
