Non-factual statement. Furthermore, your specific clarification of pre-Sup I seems to be a misnomer, when considering that Sup I only adds to the complication and does nothing to simplify running the game - if anything, you get shit like the cursed item overflow to make things more of a mess.

People who can't figure out LBB don't have the creativity and intelligence required to run a fantasy campaign. You can content that it's obtuse and poorly formatted by modern standards, but to decry as "unplayable" is incorrect.

Hey all! Working on a D12 based urban fantasy system here, based on the SCP foundation, players will be basically field agents. I'm a historian and my buddies are a computer scientist and a graphic designer, we're fucking boomers in our 30's so screw you, this is slow and we're doing this for fun because fandom.

Here's the pastebin link of what little we have:

https://pastebin.com/9f4Tya54

If you have any ideas for skills or whatnot, please do add to this. We would really want this to be done - and we chose D12 because it divides by 2,3,4 and 6 so it's fractal. Working on combat description now, it's gonna be somewhat like ORE, but yeah. Do post ideas. I've got folks who're interested in publishing this in book form, we'd be happy to make this real.

We're also filthy eastern europeans from Latvia. And this is our little thing. That's why namefagging.

Do you have, like, an email I could send autistic ramblings on game design or world building to? And by that, I just mean how the game would play or function on a player level and how'd they'd experience the foundation. >RCP

It's called RPC.

But yeah OP if you want imageboard autists to play your game you'd better distance it from SCP. It's generally regarded as having gone to utter shit, not only politically but also in terms of writing quality. Practically speaking it might be best to just make up your own setting, but on the other hand it might be difficult for you to make up a thousand well-written anomalies all on your own. Fortunately, sites like SCP and RPC are creative commons, meaning that you can shamelessly rip-off their better entries without fear of legal reprisal.

Can someone help me understand The "feel" of Planescape?

An example: in any other RPG you can occasionally let the party rest and regroup at an inn or a tavern.

Are there even inns and taverns in Planescape? Or is it too busy looking like one of Lewis Carrol's nightmares?

Question is, is it:

The plane where Piscea touched upon the elemental plane of water, in the same manner as the creation of the demiplane of filth with Juiblex? There is an entire species of !notAboleth's on that plane that migrate to dagon's lair/trade with Aboleth, so it's possible.

Related to the sheeding of fiend blood in the blood war?

Linkd to the blood magus Prc, and is what they hear when they are resurrected from death and learn to manipulate to some degree.

Despite what some may think, it's not related to vampires, as D&D vamps don't actually suck blood for blood's sake, bar Nosferatu.

A civilization of seafaring people who are mysteriously immune to scurvy. This immunity appears to be cultural as those adopted into the culture or who join them on their voyages have this immunity and those who leave the culture lose it. They genuinely don't seem to know where this comes from, and none of them have revealed the secret regardless of the interrogation method. The reason is completely mundane: Their diet is rich in fermented vegetables that other cultures find disgusting.

Fantasy Flight Games hit with mass layoffs. RPG team all gone. One employee suspects suits didn't like multiple lines cannibalizing each other (They've got three Star Wars miniature battle games alone in Imperial Assault, Legion and Armada, plus they've got an RPG split into three and a card game).

The state of FFG right now is that they've fired most of their permanent RPG staff and are changing workflow to use just a few product leads and then hiring freelancers for each book. Existing writers aren't necessarily gone entirely, but they will have to accept dealing with that unreliable freelance schedule.

When this news came out, I contacted the store I normally order my books from to find out if the supply was going to be affected and I got a decent response back, letting me know that as far as he knew, his existing orders for restock are going to be met and nothing is going out of print for the foreseeable future. It shouldn't be like when they lost the 40k license and you were out of luck if you didn't already have the books that were sold out.

>Captured by a tribe of Orcs, where they encounter a LE Human Necromancer Wizard who is also imprisoned by said Orcs

>They attempt an escape, but the Paladin decides to challenge the warchief to single combat and loses, only surviving because the Necromancer throws in the towel after the Warchief starts attacking his downed ass and he auto-fails two death saves.

>Entire party is imprisoned again, and the paladin has a grudge at the necromancer for 'dishonoring us by showing weakness' and 'you are not one of us and dont speak for us' on top of calling her a 'blasphemous witch'

>Party gets sold off to a king who the party has been fighting againts.

>He frees the party and let's us go, but not before explaining his motivation in invading the petty kingdom we started in

>The region is constantly at war and he wants to bring stability to the region

>He is very convincing, pointing out the squalor that the people of Dirkwood kingdom live in

>Paladin gets up and refuses to listen to him because a crying orphan made him sad, and so we must stop him

>Apparently long term stability and less war orphans in the long term is bad, but the status quo must be maintained because 'muh feels'

>Necromancer is convinced, and the Barbarian is undecided. Ranger is too low IQ to understand so they side with 'the alpha' (the paladin)

>Barbarian is the only person friendly to the Necromancer, asks them their opinion

>Necromancer shares their point of view only to be shouted down by the Paladin who again says they aren't one of them and thus don't get a vote

>Necromancer has already secretly agreed to work with the invading King, in exchange for amnesty for the part's actions.

Why is a LE Necromancer and a LG Paladin in the same party?

Why should the party arbitrarily side with a king who invades petty kingdoms, claiming its for stability? Like, if they are from said kingdom, they should want to fight him off and then return the favor with invading HIS kingdom. Bonus point, you have no proof that the king could achieve any stability and could just be another warlord with delusions.

I have NO issue with DM posing this choice mind you, choices like this are great, BUT the DM should be prepared for the party denying his request.

Also, the Paladin was in the right. Bonefucker opinions don't matter.

He is and he isn't. He's got a point, but because he fucks off, the cultist suceeds, summons the tarrasque, which proceeds to unpopulate the fuck out of dragonkind and nearly decimate his companions.

He learns the errors of his ways after some soul-searching with a little help from a dragon polymorhped as an animal to demonstrate some principles of nature or somesuch.

That said, hes not exactly world's best paladin, he's an ex-drunk, his dad (I think?) boned Selune as a mortal, and his sister is an OC Dunut steel Drow/Sun Elf/half-elf combo who essentially got all the cosmic bullshit genes being who's a massive maneater. and the current events involved both good and evil dragons comprimising to combat a common enemy over the issues of a mass migration that would've arguably done damage as a whole to the realms, opposed to a few destroyed cities/ruined agriculture because of the cultists desire for maximum devastation. Hell, it was something directly on Elminster's plate at the time- that's how serious the matter was. E- had to stay at home to deliver one of his best buddies kids wiith the help of a Bruce-Campbell Halfling out of Cheese-cocaine rehab who also let out an old 1e-2e Tethryr blackguard from E's nobility days.

Necromancy is not only evil but straight up unholy, you're literally making use of elemental evil.

This is on you, you could've had a monk or a priest to guide the party instead of a literal practitioner of unholy magic.

I assume the goal would be to go about a normal day without dying, or being dragged into the town's eerie Call of Cthulhu atmosphere- with scenarios being generated like that episode of south park with family guy episodes being generated by manatees.

Except with the simpons, and dice to generate an episode scenario using old classic simpsons, and nu-simpson episode formuae, with character sheets for all characers labelled out doing their stereotypical actions as wel as what the DM can improvise is.

Additional goals may be how much the session sounds like a simpsons episode, granting prestige into the next.

Rinsh, was repeat, until you're better than what Simpsons is today, then repackage it, pitch it, and become the new thing.

You should probably do as >>415635 says. If you want a more disorganized sprawl, like the kind you get with really old cities, you could probably make a brush shaped like a rectangle buildings are usually shaped like that in urban sprawls and set the jitter and angle tilts pretty high. There's a guy on youtube that describes the full process here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQL2hK2O5aA

My most effective advice is to be as lazy as possible when making maps. Intelligently designed and planned urban environments do not feel lived in.

>>saying "stranger go home" is caring too much

>well, some of us believe borders are good

Let me explain. This type of Internet community requires enthusiasm from its participants. This can be positive energy like cooperation or negative energy like flamewar drama.

(if you are not a mod) when you say "stranger go home" you are feeding the drama. You are handing out free subsidies of emotional stimulation to bored trolls who will latch onto any stimulation.

The mod on this board does not often lock threads or ban users. Even if the mod tries to ban users, 8ch.net has a porous architecture and it is hard to keep people banned. (Many people evade bans unintentionally because the system does not keep them out if they accidentally change their ISP or physical location.) If you want "strong borders" you need to ban problem users. Since only the mod has the power to ban, you need to get the mod to want "strong borders."

If you really want to be able to ban users, you need a forum more like rpg.net, which enforced usernames and logins and stirred up ungodly levels of drama so that users would fear the "banhammer." (Of course, that drama attracted trolls and radicalized ordinary users into trolls.)

8ch.net is a very tough territory to defend, even when the mods are willing to expend time and energy on banning.

There's online map generators and a few downloads that will do the cartography for you in an attractive way.

For characters there's Heromachine.

There's not much you can do when flakes bail, just write off the ones that didn't show, and re-use the material for a different party who aren't assholes. Or maybe a novel or something.

75%... that's three out of four, or six out of eight? Either way that sucks.

So far this hasn't been explained at all yet, only that it is a set of instructions to be used as a final resort.

Anyway we got to discussing what it could possibly entail and here's a quite likely plausible scenario

>Imperium is falling fast. Enemies are closing on all sides and even Rowboat and the Primaris aren't enough to stop them.

>A Grey Knights strike force or multiple strike forces, together with one or more purifiers is chosen to breach the entrance to the Throne Room on Terra by any means necessary.

>The rest of the Grey Knights hold off the Custodes

>The single Purifier approaches the Emperor's corpse and begins a ritual of soul transfer. Then he strikes down the Emperor, destroying His corpse.

>The soul of the Emperor enters the Purifier, being one of the very few humans with enough will not to be utterly consumed (and also holy enough). The Purifier's own soul is sacrificed and annihilated.

>The Emperor walks again.

So why not take possession of a Custodes? Well, remember that the Custodes are his sworn bodyguards, their lives forfeit to protect His own. By that reasoning, they won't kill the Emperor as long as he is alive, no matter His condition. Also, they're probably not pure enough.

One of GK stabs the Emprah, who dies and takes a chance with reincarnation.

The rest of them presumably are very busy trying to contain the now-unsealed Warp hole where Terra webway station was supposed to be.

Of course, the Astronomicon remains unfocused until and unless he is actually reborn and got strong enough to return and control the whole thing again. Until then, the entire Imperium is pretty much shut down.

The Daemonifuge?

It would be interesting if she participated in the Emprah's game, that is ran errands directly for him.

But she's a lucky coincidence, not part of any plan.

Also, the problem with Emprah's rebirth is not in opportunity. It's the interregnum - at least 9 months of mayhem without him controlling Astronomicon and keeping the Gate of Terra shut tight.

The following book was made as a joke for April fools, but it was never released. It's been 17 years since it was teased, and much is different now. But I must ask- can we not yet recover this lost, hidden gem? Surely we might be able to contact the writers of the article to recover the forbidden d20 3e splat knowledge of the art of handholding? I long to obtain a .pdf of the review copy, or even what may be one from the writers themselves- it sits awaiting the public eye.

Love commands we find this ancient tome!

So preparing myself for my DnD 5e session that is supposed to start in Baldur's Gate, I begun looking through the modules for some info on the city and so I have downloaded both Descent into Avernus and Muder at Baldur's Gate. While Murder at Baldur's Gate is absolutely amazing with the amount of information that it gives you, Descent into Avernus seems just absolutely fucking bizarre to me when reading through the information provided about the city. The fucking Flaming Fist is now some brutal police force that forces the citizens to form into semi-worker unions to protect themselves from their brutality? What in the name of fuck is that? I know that Flaming Fist is not really a good organization but a neuutral one, and can be pretty brutal, but the fact is that they are still a lawful neutral organization which tries to keep order in an otherwise lawless city. The description in Descent into Avernus makes them seem far too evil.

I admit that I'm new to Forgotten Realms lore and a fresh DM, so I wanted to ask you guys for some material and explanation.

Was The Flaming Fist always like that? Or is this some retards pushing their own agenda onto them? If they are indeed like that, could you show some material that shows that? Either a book or official adventure.

Also thread for general module discussion

I mean fucking look at this, somehow in Murder's in Baldur's Gate the common folk are fucking celebrating the reestablishment of the contract between Baldur's Gate and Flaming Fist. In Descent into Avernus somehow they turned into a cruel police force which opresses their fucking people. There is just a 10 years difference between those two adventures and the ruler of the Flaming Fist didn't fucking change. Murder in Baldur's Gate was in 1482 and Descent into Avernus was in 1492.

What in the name of fuck happened here? Why the fuck did the people of Baldur's Gate suddenly form gangs to protect themselves from apparently oppresive Flaming Fist?

What setting agnostic systems out there do you recommend for far future science fiction?

I absolutely fucking hate Bioware/Blizzard style "the epic 100 hour coupon hunt for the 7 magic McGuffins, because you're the prophesised chosen one" non-writing and non-worldbuilding and how those companies specifically have helped wormed all that into science fiction, if that counts.

I prefer the Wh40k route where everything's handwavium. Space fantasy >>>>>> science fiction. Science is for nerds and extremely boring. What could be interesting would be a world that uses IRL magic systems like Enochian to attain sci-fi effects, not written as a parody, but a serious setting.

What's the difference? IRL magic systems start with a holistic explanation for everything, then get into details from there. Science starts with details of boring shit, then moves to just a slight bit more interesting stuff, then finally peters out as everyone shrugs their shoulders and goes "I dunno, maybe quantum particles or some shit"

Good 'old fashioned "Get touched with this green stuff and it's gonna mutate and burn like hell".

Rather annoyingly, I don't see many mechanics for random mutations or mutagenic exposure in Tabletop Games. Annoyingly, even TMNT&OS lacks it. And the other half of the time, they have all the undesirable outcomes as things you can roll.

I don't think I've seen a system where you're guaranteed to get something beneficial and then has you roll for a side effect.

What's your opinion on mutations as a gameplay element?

Pathfinder also has some stuff with mutations due to expanding Expedition to Barrier Peaks into an entire country giving plenty of places for comic book radiation to exist. Just search d20pfsrd for mutant and you'll find all sorts of stuff. The mutant creature template is most in line with what you're looking for, but there's player options that give mostly straight positives.

https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/mutant-creature-cr-1/

There's actually a PFS module that gives characters an arbitrary cosmetic mutation of their player's choice. Can't remember the name though.

There's also this bit from The Reed Richards Guide to Everything (a book for Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game - SAGA Rules). I recommend tracking down a download for the book even if you have no interest in running the system purely for the often hilarious in-universe articles that serve as a framing device.

It should be considered as a *setting* element first. For example, in 40k it's obviously a thing. In most settings it's retarded.
