Post /tg/ news!
Fantasy Flight Games hit with mass layoffs. RPG team all gone. One employee suspects suits didn't like multiple lines cannibalizing each other (They've got three Star Wars miniature battle games alone in Imperial Assault, Legion and Armada, plus they've got an RPG split into three and a card game).

Yeah, not surprising. they've lost some big stuff there, and that's probably part of the reason they went so hard on the star wars boat, except that Disney did its level best to sink it even without the whole cannibalization issue.

Plus thanks to Disney, it's a diseased franchise. You make Star Wars toys, you risk big losses. And their shills will insist that you took the worst path.
Hasbro suffered from this already. Those with good sense should learn on the others' mistakes.

Indeed. Pretty clueless.
The question is whether the management responsible will be given a boot, or those who did their job adequately.

Is Pathfinder still full of faggots? Also, is the second edition as shitty and mainstreamed as I heard?

I don't think L5R 5E sold all that well.

they belong to asmodee now. imagine EA in paper form which only exists to trim the fat of everything they own so they look more valuable to their next buyer.
also FFG has been shitting out cards and plastic for years since that's cheaper and a more surefire way longterm than develop a whole new game and have it bomb or almost no way to monetize it over time (can't remember the exact number but expansion purchases are usually 50-60% lower, probably more).
as for star wars, wouldn't be surprised if legion and IA share molds so it doesn't make much different, legion is spaceship and all that's competing with is x-wing (which apparently is quite successful). the split rpg always sounded more like it was cut up to make more money, since it handles different aspects they don't really compete with another). card game was probably canned for not making enough money and was replaced by destiny.

Its mainstreamed in that it panders hard to the kind of faggots that play pathfinder. You don't even roll ability scores anymore.

The state of FFG right now is that they've fired most of their permanent RPG staff and are changing workflow to use just a few product leads and then hiring freelancers for each book. Existing writers aren't necessarily gone entirely, but they will have to accept dealing with that unreliable freelance schedule.
When this news came out, I contacted the store I normally order my books from to find out if the supply was going to be affected and I got a decent response back, letting me know that as far as he knew, his existing orders for restock are going to be met and nothing is going out of print for the foreseeable future. It shouldn't be like when they lost the 40k license and you were out of luck if you didn't already have the books that were sold out.
