a few generations ago the world suffered under the lord ruler. The Skaa slaving away with hardly any rights. The sky covered with ashes protecting the world from the rays of the sun. But that was before the downfall of ruin and the coming of harmony.

As a citizen of Elendel you are part of an age of prosperity never before seen in this world. What are you?

Either be a koloss(huge brute, but agressive and of diminished mind) /kolossblooded. A brute being of size, strength and durability. Or roll 3d18 to decide if you are a mistling, a ferring. or maybe a mixture? or maybe even a true mistborn or ferruchemist!

with the appearance of steampowered trains and rails the world is connected within the safe areas and with the recent revolvers and rifles beasts can more easily be put down. All in all the world is safer than ever. Except some foul rumors…

Welcome the the planet of Cynesial an entire word covered in a sprawling city. Despite the sheen and elegance of the atmos-scrapers of the surface the planet isn't anywhere as luxurious as it looks. In the streets of the surface, beneath a never ending river of floating traffic millions of people bustle about trying to make a living in a world divided up by vying factions. Uncountable crime syndicates fight over continent spanning territories and shady businesses often drag people from the streets away for product testing. The planet's very government is hard pressed to keep order in with their security forces being outnumbered on every front, only holding the planet together with their training, discipline and equipment. Illegal goods are easy to obtain from the literally underground markets and deep below the surface in the abandoned city horrific creatures and mutant tribes roam. There are even rumours of a city of machines down on the planet's true surface. Due to all of these threats the planet has been quarantined by the galaxy at large and survives via a fleet of unmanned cargo ships delivering food and supplies every month.
You are one of the denizens of this fine world and this is the tale of your success's and failures as you try to make it big or die trying on one of the most wretched hives of scum and villainy in the universe.

Name: Seth Roberts

Race: Human

Position: Engineer

Fluff: Seth was born relatively poor, but quickly his intelligence was seen by the government and his education and housing was subsidized. Not always the most active engineer, Seth has always gotten by through sheer intelligence. That’s how he got hired, anyway. That, and his top scores throughout technical schools. Whenever an urgent problem comes by, he is quick to assess the situation, and find the simplest way forward. At any other given time, his is most likely either snoring, or he his relaxing with a beer, complaining to the rest of the crew who are actually working.

Equipment: Toolkit, Laser Needler(Pistol)

Bonuses: You’re pretty chill for an engineer and smart in a different way. You seek to be simple, meaning your patchwork and quick fixes are on par with actual work

Seth is woken up by the jump. He gets up and begins to wander the ship.

1. While wandering, Seth discretely pockets anything that he sees that could improve his toolkit.

Name: Marcus "Hot Load" Smith

Race: Human

Role: Redshirt

Fluff: "Hot Load" as he's known to his friends, had no describable feature from the rest of redshir- I mean "General combat/repair/misc. Crew" or "FNG's" as the rest of the crew liked to call them, aside from the fact that he was extremely lucky. This luck had seen him survive several ground missions as a redshirt unscathed, and he'd even managed to get a few kill as well. This aura of invincibility made him a venerable god among his fellow redshirts, who had developed a personality cult praising the skill of the Hot Load, that he may ever spray his enemies with the searing plasma of his lucky rifle "Beef Injection". If he had one major flaw, it was this string of luck made him arrogant as all hell, which also explained how he could spend several years as a redhsirt, as each time he came up for promotion, a long list of: insubordination, Coercion, extortion, extinctions, distortion, desertions, perversions, illegal insertions, invasion of nations, space act invasions, commotions, explosions and loitering. In short, his superiors hated him, but he was useful enough to keep around. That didn't mean they didn't send him on the most dangerous missions every chance they got, hoping that maybe, this time, the bastard will finally kick it.

Equipment: “Beef injection” Plasma Rifle, Set of medium armor.

Bonuses: You have a large amount of charisma, luck, and skill, something most people of your rank lack. As such you are looked up to by the general workers of the crew, and your decisions have a bigger impact on them than most. Just beware of pushing your luck, you're still a grunt after all.

We're gonna have the best damn redhshirts this side of the Mcleonad Cloud! Train the scrubs so they don't die so much.

Raw force is one thing you definitely possess. You are a lot stronger than just about everyone on the ship, and the slums have hardened you mentally and emotionally meaning you're a tough nut to crack.

Race: Robotic Abomination

Role: Ship Engineer

Equipment: Cyborg Body, Welder’s Acid Pistol, Upgraded Implant Toolkit

Bonuses: You have…seen some things, to say the least. You are smarter than most engineers but not all tech can hold up to your mind. Not only that but you are watched by ACCORD scientist remotely for good reason. Be very careful…or else.

Fluff: His own history is muddled to even him. He remembers that his name is Macheus. He was part of a big grand battle, something about giant cockroaches, a huge explosion, and that he was thrown into a realm of nightmares, gigantic tendrils and. . .order? An unfathomable realm of order.

This might have been his end where he not thrown quickly thrown out of it to adrift in space, along with barely enough ship parts (all neatly assembled and labeled) to build him the tiniest of propulsion devices, propelling him slowly through empty void.

Unbelievably slow. Such an incredibly slow pace of movement through the boundless depths of space in what may as well have been eons. For such a long time, it contemplated in this nihilistic existence on ways it could make its journey faster, thousands of new designs filled his head and became his existence. Until if by chance or fate the machine man was found by a wandering crew of a long spaceship. They inspected the moving thing, how its body and design was covered in strange runes and decorated with skulls and other morbid decour. Then someone spoke to it, and it whirred to life.

At first, Macheus wanted to attack and take this ship. Then it saw the fox creature, and stared at it long and hard before uttering:

"Child of Reynard. . .I am here to serve."

Macheus then reached forth a hand to the nearest set of tools, and began to work on the engines.

[Hellbuilder: The Rules]

[Introduction]

Welcome to Hell. Or, rather. A Hell. There are many hells, strictly speaking, each of them weird or wild in their way. Most of the are bad, some are neutral, some higher, some lower. Some are worse. Some are better. However, like most things it has rules and a follows a general manner and order of things. Hell is generally arranged and managed by Satan and his leviathan bureaucracy based out of the rings; Satan himself only manages to control the entire mess thanks to his immense prestige, brutal armies, and formidable intellect.

You are in Sheol. Sheol is a middling hell of an old type. If it were a color it would be dark grey: certainly grim and unpleasant, but not the pitch black that is the sight of the lower layers of the pit. This mediocrity carries certain benefits as it is a special place: Satan maintains it as a training area and a place where orderliness presides over the usual clamor and chaos of the lower pit. Because of this Sheol-trained forces are able act as Satan's shield and sword: they fight enemies internal, external, and utterly alien to existence itself. Now, while it is true that there is always a certain degree of violence in the pit – it is Hell after all – but too much or too frequent brings intervention by God or the powers. As such Satan needs such troops for interventions and control around the Hells to keep such brush fires to a minimum.

However, and this is a problem: though Hell is timeless, training and the general conduct of existence and the constant turnover of Sheolite troops; their constant destruction is problematic insofar as it takes a year or so for them to respawn (it's not like there's anywhere else to go). As such, given the raw amount of fighting, new recruits are constantly needed or existing soldiers grow bored; death in any real sense only occurs if the powers-on-high manage to save the soul of some errant hellion. Of course, there are worse things than God, and those things can destroy a what God has created without much issue…

This is where you come in. You have been brought to the most prestigious Sheol-based university (SHU) for training due to a pePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Solaris - The Reprisal

Session 0

The Meridian Hegemony, the crux of socio-political growth in the galaxy. A unified system for all races, humanoid and otherwise. A system where votes are measured in degrees of socio-economic progress, cast by mega-corporations, monarchy and democratic council alike.

But all this doesn't matter now. For the Hegemony and the Periphery burn.

It started as lights in the Periphery flickering out, scouts and surveyors missing check ins. Until the infamous Battle of Lone Star, where we learned the strength of the enemy. Where we learned how doomed we truly were. A self-replicating race of homonid-esque machines, operating in resounding unison across the galaxy, with fleets of ships of unheard of strength. This was the enemy that knocked our door down. This was the enemy that burned our homeworlds. This is the enemy that lead us to flee.

With the last vestiges of civilization crushed under the weight of the rolling tide of the Enemy, a plan simply titled "Evacuation" was enacted. Small fleets made up of the remaining FTL-capable ships grouped up to dive into the depths of the stars beyond the Periphery, and attempt to hide among the billions of remaining stars in the galaxy. Your ship is one of these, tasked with the heavy burden of carrying the mantle of your civilization's future into the stars…

RULES (Original Rules & Combat Rules for now): http://squidkid.ink

The TL;DR :

I abide by the rule of cool. If it's not broken, stupid, or otherwise detrimental to the story, it flies. If it's awesome and improves the story, I'll leave the only stumbling block to the dice.

-> If you abuse this rule, I reserve the right to remove the portions that adversely affect game-play, although I will almost never do this.

Long ago, in a galaxy or perhaps a place far far away, lived a republic of Dwarves known only as the Immortal Technocratic Republic. A mix of living and undead dwarves, as well as sentient machinery they were the masters of technology where they came. Incredibly ambitious, sometimes to the extremes, they were the first to take to the skies in flying ships, and so befitting, the first to set foot upon their moon, establishing a colony thereof.

That was several centuries ago. And it is not them or their galaxy that is the focus of this story. This story is about the crew of the ITR-CC #2456

The Taurian Federation, then only designated by a string of numbers, formed from a number of military commanders standing against the megacorps. The planet busters aimed at Paradise probably helped. They were granted freedom from the control of the corrupt Terran States. Led by their military veterans(as they are the only full citizens), the Taurian Federation enjoyed a brief time in the outskirts of politics. They were an isolationist world, preferring to engage in debate on the proper way to assault a oceanic city, rather than trade between a gas giant and it's frozen moon. The HIMSV Dreadnaught. One of the largest and most powerful airships of the line ever built, a much younger Ilves Tassu once remarked to his best friend that he was once fascinated by it, seeing it in passing over the land on some mission or another. It was that he might have had a chance to serve on it that he joined the Imperial Army, but was saddened to learn that only the cream of the cream - which Ilves would never be, under Imperial policies of the time - were allowed to serve a tour on the Dreadnaught. He explained to his best friend that he had resigned to that fact now, but had a resolve to see one of his eventual children serve upon her.

It wasn't until much later that Ilves friend turned out to be a young Crown Prince of the Empire, incognito and learning from being part of the military. It was then that the lynx's world was turned upside down, and he was elevated to a world he thought would not be his line's until his grandchildren.

In the confusing whirlwind that followed, Ilves forgot about his off comment to his Brother. His Brother never did, and when the Emperor, now crowned and reigning, elevated Ilves to the High Generalship of the Empire, he also gave Ilves command of the then-aged Dreadnaught, that it was "At the service of General Ilves Tassu for as long as he serves the Empire".

Over the course of the next years, Ilves lovingly oversaw the refit of the Dreadnaught, sparing no expense to keep it in top shape with the best engines and weapons of the Empire. Defending his expenditures, he stated that the Dreadnaught was on loan, not his personal property. That it was at service to him as long as he served the Empire - and when that was done it would go to the next High General, or the Reigning Emperor to dispense as he chose.

That ultimately, the Dreadnaught was a weapon and tool for war, for destroying other airships, for providing fire support to troops, to being a mobile base from which General Ilves Tassu could oversee the destruction of his Brother's enemies, and the defense of his Brother's Empire.

The story in brief.

>A nuclear age world was catapulted through time and space

>It spent 33 septillion years time locked, various technical processes continuing infinitely and never running out of resources but also never finishing

>It returned to normal time

>All beings and all structures on it instantly experienced 33 septillion years of time, crumbling instantly into mineral dusts

>A paradox field kills organic life that tries to go to or from, but robotic and cybernetic life isn't affected by it that much

>The paradox field isn't permanent, but it is a guarantee of security from organic beings invading, so the great techno-powers of the universe struggle to claim this planet

>It is both in a strategic location and ripe with thousands of years of minerals, as well as rare elements normally only found in nuclear science processes

You, daring pioneers of feared and fierce technopowers, have been selected to conquer and claim it. All of it. However, you are different races and are not (at present) in any alliances with any other players..

See the pastebin for further rules and information, its set to expire in 1 month, so it can be updated and reposted at the end of each month if changes are made.

My computer, which was near death anyway, is finally starting to actually full on break down and now has more than just the 1 or 2 keys that simply flat out don't work.

I'll be getting it replaced, but I'm unsure when exactly, and it may be months away.

Sadly, the game must end because I'm unable to respond without c/p'ing multiple whole words per post, and because I'm going on a trip and going to be gone for a long time either way.

Your people find themselves stranded in an unfamiliar environment- a prehistoric world, untouched by time. They have no recollection of who they once were as a society, nor any idea of what they may become. That is all up to you, the player. Your tiny nation can become anything, from peaceful traders to bloodthirsty conquerors, waging peace or war… or both! Once the religious forces arrived at the city of Tor'Andorth, the threat would become apparent: A force greater in numbers than their own, nomadic in appearance but nonetheless as threatening as barbarians, if the smoke cloud could say anything. Clearly, they need to build up their forces and seek last-minute allies if this force is indeed hostile.

1: Some of the more militant priests would try to teach the local Torish population about warfare, and how to be prepared for it. Through this, maybe their allies will provide some additional aid if the worst case scenario happens.

>Train up some [Spear Hunters] for Tor'Andorth.

2: If one wishes for peace, they must prepare for war. Study the horde of wolves, so as to grant some advantages in terms of tactics when we need to fight.

>Develop anti-Klahn tactics to shift the balance to our favour.

3: With sight of the warband to the north, Ludalina's prayers grew stronger, hoping that through Todsanger's will, Her followers will survive the threat that those ahead pose…

>Ludalina's empowerment (2/4)

4: In brighter news, the kingdom of Ludalina accept the Tors' offer at a trade route, hoping that this would deepen ties between the two budding realms.

>Set up a trade route with the Tors in the north.

Let me tell you a story about god. 'Let there be no genesis,' is the first command of [GOD]. For indeed, there was none. God had always existed and had never existed. At the instant of [GOD]'s creation and death, [GOD] was the undisputed master of the omniverse. They had, and will have no equal. [GOD] knew all multidimensional songs, knew all syllables of royalty, and wielded the infinite powers of reality and burned with infinite fractal fire. [GOD]'s power was great. Existing in an infinite state, [GOD] had no equal. Being was only circular. It was a wretched life, without meaning or perception. Imagine infinite stories to tell and no one to tell them to. So god rejected singularity and circularity and made the first and greatest division: Division of Self. He c omitted a holy suicide. From him was birthed multiplicity, gods of black and white. They forged a city of iron and red stone, and ruled and warred there for aeons. The Nexus. And when they tired of infinity, they forged inheritors, so as to sustain and perceive their mightiest works. Finally, each faced a different direction and told a story. Each story burned a beautiful line, and each line a spoke, and all the spokes formed the wheel, the collective of all universes, all planes. To each god, a universe. And at the center, The Nexus, the ultimate mausoleum.

The seat of creation stood silent for an uncounted age. The gods decayed, angels and devils grew monstrous and swollen. But it was breached. There in that rotting city, a solitary man cracked the gates of heaven. Through the power of will he had recovered a fraction of the universal song. He had sought to meet god, but in doing so he inherited creation itself. His first act was to make battle with the prime angels, the last attendants of god. He smote their ruin across the dead city. The first master of the universe. With the firmament breached, it was not long before others came. They were the ultimate masters of their kind. Heroes, warriors, poet-kings. They, who inherited god's final works, and would seek to rule them. They found the seat of creation no longer defended, but not occupied. The fruit of the first conquest. There amidst the smoking ruin of the prime angels they gathered, the masters of the universe who sought ultimate hegemony. And thus, did the first master of the universe become the ruling master. It was these masters who rebuilt the greatPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>The Year 2037. Following the great recession of 2036 and the fall of the Trump administration, the world has held its breath as the United States totters on the edge of collapse with the entire world economic system similarly poised to implode into perpetual stagnation. Prior to this era it was once said that it was easier to think of the end of the world than the end of capitalism, but now it seems both might occur at the same time: Kaiju, monsters from disparate origins, have begun to hound the urban centers of the once great nation states of the world and have begun to attack any major population center they can find.

>>As is their way, the states of world are slow to react and lumbering: their economies are shattered and their militaries are gutted by many years of climate change, internal conflicts, and other challenges. Despite the Kaiju, has begun another war with India, Japan has begun to clash with China, and the European Union was formally dissolved last year. The world is a petty bickering place with little coordination and zero hope to speak of. As such, Kaiju attacks have run rampant with the cities of Sydney, Paris, and San Diego being destroyed. Nuclear weapons, once thought to be the ultimate defense of mankind, have proved to be useless – the Kaiju in question all have some sort of defense that seems to defeat such weapons, and conventional combat is wholly ineffective.

>>In 2038 things changed. The world began to formally coordinate their defense under the newly formed GKI (Global Kaiju Initiative). This transnational organization, drawing from researchers and specialists from around the world, had established fortified cities in London, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. GKI operates a host of experimental weapons and projects, and attempts to stop the Kaiju – you – from YOUR apparently random acts of destruction. The organization is unproven and untested, but the effective administration and amount of resources put into it seems to promise success.

>>You are one of the these Kaiju. How will you handle the world? Beneficent protector or hated enemy? Capricious ally or wrath of god?

"MORALE RESTORED!"

Goliath yells victoriously upon his return to base having rallied the indonesian populace, meanwhile the entire crew have some relief in the form of the crowds gathering and cheering around Goliath. It is enough to make them feel somewhat important, despite yet not proving their mettle in a true fight. Still the future battle looms over them like a stormcloud.

Still, Leyenne and Royce can't seem to wait long enough to finally meet and kill some other Kaiju, while Dr Faust hopes to be able to study one rather than theorize about the best way to kill the things from 2nd hand reports. Ivan and Kameko share a definitive love for Goliath's hardware and particularly the chance to see it in real action.

Captain Richard hopes that when the time comes, his crew will work together as a team.

But as ever, all will prepare until the day comes that when they do meet the enemy for the first time they will be ready. ALL of them will be ready.

1. Extra Artillery for Goliath! A fine addition. A large rotary cannon of sorts will do just nicely.

As a bonus we can load it up with some tracer rounds to compound the artillery coordination efforts of the fleet and Osiris and David.

Ivan takes particularly JOY at the notion, and demands to be a part of the installation of heavier firepower.

Artillery I: 1/20

2. The N2 Servo's continue to be installed. Once the Titan Maul is ready we will truly be capable of pushing the enemy back! 11/20

3. The Titan Maul itself is coming along quite nicely. 15/20

>Kaiju Name: (Mini) Catju

>Kaiju Origin Fluff:

Essentially a (smaller) huge ass cat with the obligatory kaiju superpowers of advanced resilience to phyiscal attacks, regenerative abilities and the potential to survive unrealistic sizes that would usually be prevented by the laws of physics Catju is a cat enhanced in just about every way.

>Kaiju Attack:

As Catju is not particularly use it often stalks its prey utilizing ambush tactics in order to get the jump on its opponent, striking vulnerable spots. Often Catju will retreat after an initial attack, waiting for the inflicted damage to take its toll, only to attack again, preventing its prey from healing.

Should its enemy prove to be a superior foe Catju will often times run away and try to avoid coming into contact with it again. As a rule of thumb Catju chooses its battles carefully depending on how much of a potential threat the enemy poses.

>Kaiju Alignment: Catotic

>Kaiju Location: Brazil, Upper

>Other Kaiju Facts:

+ Catju enjoys lying around in the sunshine

+ Catju sleeps a lot

+ Catju only kills for food and will often times leave prey alive after playing with it

+ Catju likes cows and milk

+ Catju enjoyes eating grass every now and then

+ Catju does not enjoy loud noises

+ Catju burries its poop

>New 8chan is kill

Fuck this shit. Who wants another builder? It's a new premise I thought up, and it's probably only going to run a couple turns before I get swamped with even more work, but hey, whatever.

It's Star Wars time, bitches.

Since Jaundice's builder is kill, I'll be making a new one.

Please note that this is not concurrent with any Star Wars timeline. Neither the EU nor the new movies' plot will come up in this builder. Your choices will first affect you, then those around you, and maybe, if you play your cards right (or horribly wrong) planets, systems, or the entire galaxy.

Over the course of this builder (if it takes off), your character will grow according to your choices, beginning as a blank slate, who will affect, and be affected by, his surroundings in such a way that he develops skills, natural talents, and other traits.

Your childhood will last two turns, your teen years will last three turns, and the rest of your lifespan will develop over the course of the game.

It is fourteen years before the Battle of Yavin. You, of course, don't know that for several reasons: One is that it hasn't happened yet, another is that you're an infant. As of right now, your father (or equivalent figure if born to non-humans with non-traditional means of reproduction). Is filling out a form describing himself, his partner, their economic status, and… well, you'll see the form itself now.

"You? A noble? Bugger off beggar!", the Guard laughs in your face. He has every right to. What a pityful sight you are, you and your once great family of nobles. Far from the East is where you're from. Once your family held a Castle there, but then the Uhlmannen came. They burned it down, razed it, enslaved your people and salted your fields as they spat on your god and set your church alight. Nothing remained.

Now here you are, in front of a new city like beggars. Dressed in rags, barefoot. You lost anything you had left when the bandits came for you. Your hand instinctively wanders into your rags.

Everything except for one thing. A family heirloom you had protected with your life.

(Pick an item, something at least partially subtle, so no full body armor or horses)

Either way this is the end of your journey. Weissstadt and within Weissburg. Not the most secure location in the Kingdom, but more than far enough away from it's borders. Two noble families ruled here in their always ongoing rivalry. You had never met before and there was no kindness to be expected of them. You would have to make it on your own, like peasents.

However it seemed like god had given you his blessing. You had received another chance and you made the journey alongside your family more or less healthy. A chance to start over again. But remember, whatever your actions will be in the weeks to come, they will influence how your family is perceived and thus shape life for your other family members as well.

(The Family's name is currently "Nation" obviously this is just a placeholder and can be changed if you can agree on a new name)

Truly your spirit is that of a noble eagle, kind and good in so many ways. How could your best intentions not be represented by the Whitecastle family, ruling over their castle, the very embodyment of a noble family? Though recently one of their women had given birth to a bastard. Though you never really cared much for gossip they did say that she is the most beautiful woman in the region, if not the whole Kingdom.

All one had to do in order to fight for the Whitecastles was to find one of the recruiters which were located in the castle courtyard. The lines of people seeking to be recruited were smaller than you expected with all the refugees from the surrounding areas flooding in from the cities. You had figured that naturally they too would want to fight for King and country, even though who was the real king was still up for debate.

Upon having signed up, receiving your equipment and taking a walk around the courtyard you quickly learned to differentiate between two very distinct groups withthin the Whitecastle soldiers. The Veterans and the Recruits. While you presumed all factions had both men who had served long before the conflict and those who had signed up recently the vast difference in experience was painfully obvious to see, Veterans seemingly taking on entire hordes of new recruits in sparring matches.

While you would not put yourself on one level with the Veterans you definitely did not belong to the recruits. The way they moved and held their swords just rubbed you in the wrong way somehow. These men would not last a minute against a sophisticated Uhlmannen charge. They would either break and run or be cut down where they stood. Silently you made a not to yourself that if you were going to fight you would have to make sure that it was the Veterans that were watching your back.

Finally someone had recognized your truly limitless potential, seeking to familiarize yourself with the men you looked around Turmhill's courtyard, suddenly realizing that you had no idea whom exactly you had been named Sargent off. There were dozens of them, slacking off here and there, some training, all dressed in their Turmhill leather armor, carrying around newly made wooden shields. Only few of them gave you the impression of truly experienced fighters though here and there you could spot a cutthroat or brawler, merely by how they carried themselves. An interesting ability you had gained for spending countless evenings with people of the same kind.

Having no better option to gather the attention of your men you place yourself in a central location and yell, "Men! Form up!". Many exchange questioning looks, some shrugging others nervously rubbing their hands, however nobody really seemed to move. "I said form up you lazy shits!", you yelled a little louder this time, people growing more and more nervous, now exchanging even more concerned looks, looking around helplessly in search for some validation. Surely your own men should recognize you. "If you don't move your ass into formation this instant I will have it nailed to the city gates!". Now a handful of people began assembling reluctantly. Two cutthroats and three raw recruits. Good enough.

Now that you had gotten them on the ropes it was time to reel them in. In a sudden shift of attitude you invited them to a friendly game of cards, unexpectedly completely pulling them off. While the recruits continued to throw their money at it in expectations of victory the two cutthroats were busy trying to figure out how you were cheating. Jokes on them, you were just lucky. In the end you hand them back their lost money, a deed to which the recruits react to with glee, however the cutthroats seem somewhat confused at the gesture.

Many of the people you spoke to were refugees having left behind most if not all of their belongings, some could never hope to return to their lands and once the winter set in even more would starve or freeze to death. The church was unable to harbor all of them, or supply food for them. Though now that you thought about it you did come to the conclusion that either the church should have gathered substantial amounts of coin in a town like this, or that they had spent it on a number of things that were either expensive or a whole lot of them.

As you continued to preach to the people across the city you could always hear an angry high pitched voice in the background. At first you were unfamiliar with it but the longer you proceeded to preach the more you began to notice the frequency and even over your own loud and zealous words you could slowly piece together the message they carried. Apparently your (insert not-blood family relation here) Natasha had been attempting to convince several bakers of handing out food to those seeking refuge. An attempt deserving commendation no doubt, but from the increasingly angry tone in her voice you made out that things were not proceeding as well as she had hoped.

After your words you can merely hope that some people of influence were amongst the onlookers, to help the both of you in your efforts, otherwise you were of course very well able to throw yourself at the issue, still there were a plethora of other things you had to consider, by now you were a reknown man after all.

For once you had some time on your hand, utilizing it to appreciate the marvelous craft that was the cathedral's painted roof. You couldn't help but wonder how they had managed to work up there, certainly it had taken insane amounts of effort, though the imagery was quite an odd one you had to admit. Devil and Angel offering man a grail? You would have expected a lot of things though this hardly referenced to a passage in the holy book.

Without any further words two of them walked behind you, another two flanking with the last ones taking point. Quickly your little procession began to move through the streets of the city and even though you were surrounded by people in red cloaks it proved easy to observe your surroundings. One of the many benefits of being a tall fellow.

People left and right stopped to stare, some looking shocked, many indifferent, honestly this was pretty much the same reactions you had gotten from the very first day you had made your way into the Northern realms. They too were afraid of the horsemen and even though you hadn't paid a lot of attention to recent news you could people here and there talk about an imminent Uhlmannen threat that was inevitably going to sack the city. It sounded like the people had seen the future themselves.

Slowly your group made its way into the heart of the city, streets got larger, but the amount of people increased even faster than the size of the streets. Even in the city center you didn't remember there being this many people, most of them reminded you of beggars with torn clothing, some with barely stitched wounds. It would be an easy task for an Uhlmannen spy to infiltrate this flock of people for sure and you couldn't help but feel that somewhere a watchful eye rested upon you.

Initially you hadn't been all too sure where your journey was going, however when you first set foot onto the almost ancient steps it became all the more clear. The church, or cathedral rather was an immensely impressive building, already towering above all others it had been built on a large hill as the city's castle and was forming a stark contrast to the otherwise almost flat landscape of city roofs. The building itself had two large towers with countless finely crafted statues and carvings decorating its outside. There could be no doubt that this was one of the few buildings truly deserving of the name "House of God".

It is the Age of Sail and YOU have set out to the "New World" to seek whatever it is you seek most. Are you here for adventure? Perhaps wealth. Or maybe even the power that goes with forming your colonies all throughout this new land. Whatever it is that has dragged you here you are not alone in that quest. There are others who seek the same that will stand in your way.. And the land itself will fight you every step of the way.

This is a NB/HB thread. There are three nation "Classes" to choose from.

Colonial Charter: You are head of a colonial effort from your home country, You have the financial and manpower backing that they can provide. This is a double edged sword however, they may make unreasonable request or punish you for decisions they deem inappropriate.

Independent: You may be a Merchant coalition trying to seek it rich, a group of religious refugees, or even a roaming pack of fishermen seeking better waters. Whatever you are, you take the dangerous journey at your voalition, you have no backing and no master. It will be an arduous undertaking, but at least you are free

Outlaw: Whether you are a pirate outfit, slavers, or a group of marauders, you are the outcast of society and you like it that way. Everyone hates you and you are actively out to steal the fruit of other players hard work. It can be very profitable but it will be very difficult. Your people complain less when lacking creature comforts but to survive you will need to pillage and steal your way through life. Honest merchants won't trade with you but black markets prove to be useful assets in the new world.

Heroes can be anything or nothing, the world is your oyster and can be anything for you.

(Keep in mind this is LOW fantasy, the only magic from the "European" side is very basic holy magic that constitutes healing and the like, it is very reagent heavy as well. You can use historical countries if you wish but I would prefer you to make up your own. Assume Age of Sail tech level, Decent gunpowder tech but melee still has its place.)

A whole new world found, full of land and resources for good, Ikaldr-fearing men. A whole new world, filled to the brim with heathen, idol-worshipping, hedonistic savages. Not one worshiper of the Celestial Titan throughout the whole of their barbaric, unenlightened tribes. It DISGUSTS me. In the lands to the east, the worship of the Keeper has been spreading well enough. Now, we have a whole new land to attend to. It is our destiny to own these lands, and all the scum that inhabit them.

They will convert, or they will die. I do not particularly care which. I will tear down their primitive totems and temples and build churches on their bones, and in the name of the Keeper, nothing will stop me until we own every inch of these heathen lands.

Every. Last. Inch.

Bonus: [Doing Gods Work] You are sent by the church and are the only hero that can request reinforcements or supplies. The church needs to be pleased with you however. They will occasionally offer gifts.

Negative: [Fanatical] There is no room for diplomacy with infidels and natives. You would not grant them your precious time. You must purge whatever heresy fills these lands. Covert, or die.

(Fucks sake mate, I've tried to talk to you three times on IRC about the gorillion mistakes and discrepencies and misinterpretations in stuff.)

Name: Principality of Temnland

Colour: Orange

Country of Origin: Empire of Drakensriech

*Country Fluff: The Empire of Drakensriech has a long and "prestigious" history of warfare with their neighbours having grown strong by eating anyone seen as too weak to rule themselves. In recent years however things have been stagnant, with most neighbours remaining strong enough to not seem an easy target. So when the new world was discovered the empire wanted their slice of the cake

Nation Fluff: The lands of Prince Temnick, fourth in line for the Imperial Throne, a scholar by preference but still trained in the art of war by tradition. On his 23rd birthday he was declared lord of his on land, a tiny province in the new world. With the entire empire expecting their new lands to grow, Prince Temnick, lord of Temnland is sent to the new world.

Nation Type: Colonial Charter

Population: 150 pop

Resources: 10 currency, 8 food

Assets:

Military:

Navy: 1 Civilian Galleon

Bonus: [Military Tradition] Your people are strong combatants on land and won't be bested often. They carry some of the finest equipment the world has seen.

Negative: [Warlike] Your people are focused on besting others in combat, they will be slower to develop in other fields and will often have problems diplomatically with others and natives.

Tech:

Metals? This changes things. We cannot waste time securing the coast, we need to head inland and find metals so we can supply the Imperial Army back home! And tell them we need engineers to help build roads and fortifications.

Name: The Expeditionary Force of the Xerxiad Caliphate

Country of Origin: The Xerxiad Caliphate

Country Fluff: http://pastebin.com/E7s9PWvG

Nation Fluff:

The Caliphate Colonial Expeditionary Force.

The Caliphate prides itself on gunpowder and large ships. Not the first to discover gunpowder, they were its greatest admirer and proponent, inventing gigantic bombards and heavy mortars, and their access to numerous forested states provides them with an overwhelming supply of lumber and manpower.

They favor large and extremely armed ships of gigantic size, as heavy ships of the line form the bulk of their navy. This is in stark contrast to the European and Eastern style, who favor lighter, more maneuverable and numerous ships such as destroyers and frigates and cruisers. Slow, but well armored and massively gunned on all sides, while notoriously easy to outpace at sea, it is known that only those who seek to catch a tiger by the tail tend to challenge a Caliphate ship without overwhelming numbers.

The Expeditionary force has been sent on such a ship, to establish a colony in the new world, and see what new peoples there are to be taught the way of many ways, and to hear of the truth of all truths.

Nation Type: Colony Multi-charter (that is, sanctioned by the Caliphate, but supported by funded by numerous states wishing to invest in the new world.)

Chairman Fluff: "Alice" is the code-name of a "well-known" Corporate espionage agent. By well known, her exploits are known, but the woman herself has been rather elusive. She specializes in Corporate Espionage and dabbles in the occasional assassination and running of small departments. She is professional and kept a wide distance between work and her exceedingly small personal life. She'd fallen off the market for a few years before reemerging recently in Tokyo. Rumor has it she tried a normal life and it just wasn't quite the same.
