After a period of leaving my faith and insulting Islam out of ignorance, I decided to study Islam again and realized that it truly is the one correct path. I want to become a good Muslim again but I am not sure where to start. When I pray I get easily distracted, and can't maintain focus. I also have bad habits from my old lifestyle such as masturbation. I am on nofap currently, but besides praying I'm not sure what I have to do in order to properly return to Islam and repent for my past sins. Please help me if you can.

i found that talab l3ilm helped me a lot, i mean i started to understand what every move and word means in my 3ibada, which led me to focus on maintaining it to a high level of itqan for me, i guess since i started to enjoy it

but i also fail to do this in my bad days, since dunnya is fittna and to be khachi3 in your salat is a high level stuff

so i reccommnd to start using new surat and ayat in your salat, and start to prepare you da3awat and what you should ask allah for before salat, just so your brain understand this is something important you should focus on, and with time allah might help you if you ask him.

and allah knows better.

>great advice, thank you. I remember one time Allah immediately answered my prayer minutes after I asked for it. Ever since then I am 100% sure He exists and watches over my prayer. I want to present the best possible package so every time Allah looks at me He will not be ashamed and instead bless me. May Allah reward you for the advice

Salaam,

How do you guys feel about sheikhs like Yasir Qadhi who speak of jinn posession/sihr/ayne? A lot of scholars perpetuate knowledge in regards to these things that seem to just be the pesonal experiences of ruqyih, and it's bordering on dajjal-like false prophecy from my perspective. Unless knowledge of the unseen is from the Quran or sunnah it's great misguidance and false prophecy according to this;

>It sounds to me like the brother you speak of needs help from a mental health care professional. Encourage him to see a psychiatrist.

Again, this. This sounds like textbook schizophrenia. I had a schizophreniac episode a few years ago. I got diagnosed with schizophreniaform disorder, which basically means I had really extreme symptoms of schizophrenia for about 7 weeks but then I came out of it Alhamdulillah. I thought I was being attacked by jinn and that they were everywhere controlling people. I thought if I moved things around in my house I could affect the outside world and all other kinds of crazy things. I could look at anything and see a threatening horrible message in it sent to me by the jinn, thinking it was planned hundreds of years in advance by them. Not even the sticker on a milk carton, can of soda, or wrapper of any kind. When it got at its worst I couldn't even look at numbers without articulating some kind of threatening message in my mind. Long story short I got arrested and ended up having my mind return to normal on its own while I was in solitary confinement. They people at the jail wouldn't give me any medication, but I got on medication when I went to a mental health center for diagnosis.

Thanks for the responses ikhwan.

I suggested to the family a baker act and to take him to a medical professional, but because of things sheikhs have said about the nonsense he firmly places it in reality and refuses to accept he may be wrong or mental.

I too was schizophrenic at one point and could easily say he has a similar mental disorder but again he's extremely set in his ways while building a fortress in his mind of quotes from videos and notes he's taking of generally negative things he attributes to jinn like hair loss.

I sat down with him for probably over 24 hours over course of the last month or so and learned a lot about what these people say about jinni and sihr etc and none of it is islamic. None of it is based in the Quran or Sunnah. It's all just bidah with a islamic word pinned on it wallahi and it's ruined my brothers life completely because he's, like these sheikhs, trying to derive the unseen by using logic and personal experience when knowledge of the unseen comes only by revelation.

I've been possessed myself. I'm still remain in control of my body, but the jinn is influencing my behavior. Like, i can't control my anger, always feel the need to eat until i vomit, having wet dream. The most obvious sign is, when i prepare to do salah, i suddenly cry for no reason. There's some kind of tingling sensation in my head. I realized that i may have been possessed by jinn. I performed ruqyih with honey mixture as medium, and my body react immediately. The moment i drank the mixture (recited with surah), my throat started to feel burn. Then, i began to throw up and gargled so much even though i haven't eat anything (it's still fajr).

I personally don't believe those kind of mystical things, and i'm not a really devout person. But this proves that jinns are real (to me), and they can harm you in many ways possible.

There´s unfortunately a very common misconsception about RasulAllah´s marriage to Aisha that even many Muslims believe nowadays and that the kuffar constantly quote against us: "Aisha married the Prophet when she was 6 yo and consummated the marriage at 9". I will in sha Allah explain how this is false through various points.

1. Paedophilia in an Islamic State is one of the 10 crimes punishable by death.

2. The man that narrated the hadith was a senile old man with dementia, so he made a mistake when he narrated because he forgot.

3. According to the Quran, only two consenting adults can consent to a marriage, and that is why prepubescent planned marriages are wrong since the girl in the future might dislike the marriage.

4. According to Islamic history, it is impossible for Aisha to have been at that age, at that time. I quote from an article:

"Hazrat Aisha can be easily calculated from the age of her elder sister Hazrat Asma who was 10 years older than Hazrat Aisha. Waliuddin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khateeb al Amri Tabrizi the famous author of Mishkath, in his biography of narrators (Asma ur Rijal), writes that Hazrat Asma died in the year 73 Hijri at the age of 100, ten or twelve days after the martyrdom of her son Abdullah Ibn Zubair. It is common knowledge that the Islamic calendar starts from the year of the Hijrah or the Prophet’s migration from Mecca to Medina.

Therefore, by deducting 73, the year of Hazrat Asma’s death, from 100, her age at that time, we can easily conclude that she was 27 years old during Hijra.

This puts the age of Hazrat Aisha at 17 during the same period. As all biographers of the Prophet agree that he consummated his marriage with Hazrat Aisha in the year 2 Hijri it can be conclusively said that she was 19 at that time and not nine as alleged in the aforementioned hadiths."

IslamQA is a reputable Islamic source according to many. When it came to the transgender issue, I always thought transitioning was not allowed no matter what, especially since I hear people make fun of Iran and shias for allowing sex change, but I came across this on their site, essentially that if you feel like a woman and a specialist also approves, then you can go ahead with the surgery:

>Thirdly: if your masculinity is not established, and you only think that you are a man because of what you see in your body of outward masculine appearance, in contrast to what you feel in yourself of having feminine characteristics and an inclination towards males and being sexually attracted to them, then you should examine your situation and not go ahead with the surgery that you have mentioned. You should consult experienced specialist doctors. If they determine that you are male in outward appearance but are in fact female, then you may submit yourself to their treatment, so that they can bring out your femininity by doing surgery. But that will not in fact be a sex change from male to female, because this will not be up to them; rather it will be bringing out your true nature and removing what is in your body, and what you feel deep inside you of confusion and ambiguity. But if nothing is clear to the experts, then do not take the risk of undergoing this surgery; be content with the decree of Allah and be patient with what has befallen you, seeking to please your Lord and protecting yourself against the possible consequences of doing an operation without guidance and insight concerning your condition. Turn to Allah and beseech Him to relieve you of what you are facing, and to heal you from your psychological problems, for control of all things is in His hand, may He be glorified, and He is able to do all things. End quote.

What did they mean by this, and so whats the orthodox ruling on this?

Salam brothers

I have been thinking about marital relations.

I noticed that in most animal species males behave the same: The find a female in heat, impregnate her and leave her so she would take care of their children alone.

Human males also instinctively want to follow this "hit-it and quit-it" behavior.

My question is this: is the main reason of marriage is to ensure that a man will stay with a woman and help her to raise children since human kids are much harder to raise compared to other infant animals?

There are different types of mating behavior.. not all behave as you suggest.. there are many animals that have adapted to form relationships and "imprint" on eachother as the offspring within their biological model fare better when both parents stay in the nest..

Animals don't suffer from sin though.

Man is the apex of nature.. and possesses deep reflection.. with greater power comes greater responsibility, and therefore greater sin.

> is the main reason of marriage is to ensure that a man will stay with a woman and help her to raise children since human kids are much harder to raise compared to other infant animals?

That could be one of the reasons, but restricting intimacy to marriage is not for sure going to turn all those guys with 'hit it and quit it' behaviour into loyal husbands. Marriage in Islam keeps women from ending up in that predicament, puts barriers of entry, only someone who cares for the woman and is sincere is going to go through the trouble to marry her.

Mainly the reason for marriage is because we're not animals, we are civilized who make civilizations, and the family unit is the basic building block for such societies. A family is best for all parties, even if we just talk sexually, within the structures of marriage you will have more sex, thats why if you look at stats today in the west they say younger generations are having less sex today, because less are getting married especially at young ages compared to the past, people have to put in much more work to get sex if they're single. Theres ultimately many reasons we can point to for why else marriage is beneficial.

Hey guys

I used to be a Christian. I grew up a Pentecostal. The ones with the snake handlers and all that. Not very religious anymore but I love reading about other religions. They fascinate me. Even Christianity does sometimes still.

I found a post on Facebook about the God Muslims worship actually being a lunar deity named hubal.

Now. After some extensive reading on the subject I am aware of the fact Muslims deny this allegation. And I am in no way trying to say it’s true. I know that Muhammad had idols in Mecca destroyed when he invaded and conquered the city.

Due to how sometimes record keeping and misinterpretation happens. From a non biased and objective viewpoint only for debate.

Could this be possible? For instance how Christianity adopted MANY pagan holidays and customs from its domination of Europe? Just food for thought. Not here to cause a fuss. I am curious on what a Muslim would have to say about this.

It isn't really important. It's a complete non-issue.

Thanks man, I’ll give this a read for sure. And yeah American Protestantism is generally less intellectual than other places, I can totally see some boomers doing that.

I think you should read the Qur'an if you're interested in Islam.

Reading posts on facebook isn't really "reading" about relgions, after all.

>Could this be possible?

God being a lunar deity?

No.

If you'd read the Qur'an you'd understand that our God is one. And he's the creator of everything, not limited in any way whatsoever.

If he'd be a lunar deity he'd be limited and not the creator of everything, so there is simply no way.

>For instance how Christianity adopted MANY pagan holidays and customs from its domination of Europe?

I would argue that pagan Europe adopted many Christian customs and holidays while still staying pagan.

>Just food for thought. Not here to cause a fuss.

The problem with this statement is that's it's rather obvious that you know very little about Islam. If you were actually interested in learning more about it you'd read the Qur'an instead of posting on an alt-r— boomer q-anon forum.

I'm not saying that it's bad to come here, but I feel like our generation has to learn to "**** up and read".

Hubal and Allah were two different ilah that quraysh used to worship. Hubal was the lunar deity that a female historian said was Allah, hence people nowadays think Hubal and Allah are the same. Allah was the only deity that Quraysh didn´t have a statue of around the Kaaba.

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

I reverted to Islam almost a year ago and I have been trying to learn as much as possible about the faith since then. I pray on my own and everything, but I need a community. I thought that I will be able to be alone until I graduate from university and live on my own, but I really feel the need to go to a mosque.

It looks like there are 3-4 mosques in my area, most of them are situated in little storefronts. There's one Islamic Center, but I don't want to go there because of personal reasons (some friends/acquaintances of the family I have go there and I don't want my family to know I'm a Muslim).

The problem is, as I have mentioned on this board in the past, that I suffer from extreme anxiety. I'm a male, for reference. I even suffer from this when I used to go to a church in a new area alone without my family (even though I was a lifelong Christian).

How do I choose a mosque? One of them looks to be for Turks, another for Southeast Asians and yet another is a mix of groups (I gathered this from the pics they have online). Also, what's the best way to go to there? Should I try to text message the imam and ask if I can come in? I don't just want to show up because I wouldn't know what to say. Also, I kind of feel silly going because it looks like I will be the only white guy there and it would be hard to fit in, if that makes sense. I really want to be able to have a mosque community, though.

It's a long post, but I just typed out everything that came to mind. :)

I almost missed this one.

Rosary is the most common name of the tasbih-like tool related to Christianity / Catholicism. I apologize for not being very specific with my example.

Rosary

Prayer rope

Wreath of Christ

Anglican Prayer Beads

You get the idea, it's a common tradition among many peoples and religions.

From Wikipedia:

"The Desert Fathers of the 3rd to 5th centuries, used pebbles or knotted ropes to count prayers, typically the Jesus Prayer ("Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner"). The invention is attributed to Anthony the Great or his associate Pachomius the Great in the 4th century."

I did not say Rosary predates Tasbih, I said "embedded cultures". But Amen and Kippah predates Islamic versions, so I can't blame you. I was careless with my sentence structure. Apparently the first examples of it are from 3rd Century, and the proper invention is from the 4th. So the Christian version predates as well. I learned something today. Have you?

Read the rules. Quranists aren't allowed here. Especially ones that have an agnostic/atheistic streak and say things like "Religions are nothing but socially and politically constructed traditions."

Plus the misbaḥah, or tespih is an innovation. It has no predication in the original Islamic society that was created by the Prophet PBUH. It was derived much later, as a way to try and give Muslims their own kind of prayer beads.

This excludes quranists and ahmadiyya. You are an obvious denier of the Sunnah, you have your copy-pasta arguments all nice and neat.

I was reading into my countries history (mainly the Meiji restoration) and found out that Japan nearly became Islamic.

Basically to combat the west pro Japan nationalists and muslims forged a close alliance and in 1906 the emperor was going to convert to islam.

I can't find anything on why it was abruptly stopped however, there's a few theories but there's little evidence to support them.

Theory one is that the British threatened that they would declare war on Japan if they did, I find this unlikely but Britain have had a bad history with us so it wouldn't surprise me.

Second theory is that the Rothschilds threatened to kill Japan economically if we did, which is more likely but I don't think they would've threatened and I don't think it'd stop the country from becoming islamic.

What would an islamic Japan even be like?

Brothers, be mindful of Allah, say no to nationalism. Iblees is a nationalist.

[Allah] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay [i.e., earth]." 7:12

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He said, "Should I prostrate to one You created from clay?" 17:61

He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay." 38:76

>Islam doesn't say that you should destroy ethnic identity and belonging.

Yes, it does. You should destroy any "identity and belonging" that conflicts with islam, such as racism/tribalism.

What you are engaging on is called "Asabiyyah" (tribalism), and whomever dies for it does not die a Müslim.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism.”

Are European Muslim nations (Bosnians, Albanians, Turks) considered murtad? They drink alcohol, these countries are known a lot of wine brands produced there. They even have their own type of vodka https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakı

Exactly. Plus, having a shot of whisky doesn't magically make you apostate. Maybe OP doesn't know what "murtad" means?
