Qresearch is a 24/7 beehive of activity where anons post their diggs, memes and prayers.
For this to happen requires bakers–which is why they have been called "the core of this board."
Bakers perform several key functions:
* Set the tone for each bread via their choice of bread title and /comms/ with posters.
* Post notables for each bread.
* Bake breads (transition the board from one thread to the next).
* Knead the dough (keeping the resource pages clean, tidy, and up-to-date).
When all goes well, baking is a fun & exciting opportunity to serve. When things get wonky and shills attack–bakers carry on anyway.

Baking FAQs
Version 1.6
For step-by-step baking instructions, see page one of current baking seminar dough; baking section of /qresearch/ dough will also have a link. Link to Class #15: 14290
TWO MOST IMPORTANT FAQs:
1. There is no baking mistake that can't be fixed. 2. Never panic, never tap.
Generally
What hardware/software is needed in order to bake?
Laptop or desktop (phonefagging hard for newbies & tablets lack power). The bigger the screen, the better. Text editor like Notepad++ (for PCs) or Atom (for Macs).
What other skills are good for a baker?
Patience, persistence, high tolerance for criticism, ability to say no to shills. Good enough typing to more or less keep up the pace.
What shift is good for a new baker?
A slow shift like late night to early morning (also, Q seldom posts then). If you take a faster shift, just tell anons you're new and you'll get support.
Bakers Tools
This is an independent tool that anyone can use, but you don't need it to bake.
Baking in TOR
TOR doesn't allow images but does allow embedded YT vids; use for General (Iwo Jima) image. There's usually a TOR vid in "Baking" section of the /qresearch/ dough.
Don't change previous baker's notables
Possible exceptions: bad links, spelling errors, when they give specific permission.
Baking everyday vs every so often
Whether you can bake a little or a lot, help is always welcome in the kitchen.
How to reduce baking stress
Practice first, develop routines, be prepared, stay calm, don't fixate on mistakes.
The Dough
The dough = first 4-5 posts/pages in each bread. Each post in one document separated by /////BREAK\\\\\\ markers.
Organization
post 1 - Q posts, post 2 - Notables, post 3 - War Room, post 4 - QPosts Archives. Notables page can be broken into two pages on the fly if notable buns are long (even tho there's no BREAK marker).
Dough problems & change requests
New bakers sometimes inherit a funny-looking dough or are asked by anons to make dough changes. If you're not sure what to do, say so and defer to next baker. Often, bakers in the thread will jump in to help.
Practice Baking
You can practice bake in /comms/, established in 2018 by BO Rusty. After getting down the basic steps, try shadow baking (following a real bake to get the timing down).
Green text
In /comms/ practice bakes using Q Research doughs, links don't work and text is green.
Q&A & getting feedback
Practice bakers can ask q's by posting in the baking seminar thread or baker's Meta thread in /comms/.
Pastebin.com
What is pastebin.com?
An app/site that stores the dough so bakers can transfer it to next baker.
Do I need an account to use pastebin.com?
No, anyone can use it as a GUEST. You can also (optionally) add a pastebin name to identify your acct to anons.
How to make a new pastebin
Copy entire dough from text editor, upload to pastebin.com, select New Paste, paste in dough, select Create New Paste at bottom. See step-by-step instructions for more.
Notables
How to tell what is notable?
A few ideas: look for anon noms, Q decodes, POTUS tweets/retweets, planefag/boatfag reports, relevant news items (for breaking news, check qresear.ch to avoid dups).
Usually, memes are not notabled. Unsauced tweets & articles must be sauced first (quality matters).
How to format notables list?
Formats vary, but best to use bold orred text. Examples: 'Early notables', 'Notables @200', 'Notables #11956 @300'. Always link to dough post if ghosting after posting.
How often do you post notables?
Often enough to give anons multiple chances to have their say about notable selection, some ideas:
* 200, 400, 600 (plus a FINAL) or * 250, 500, Last Call around 640 (plus a FINAL).
If you take the bake late: Post notes as soon as you catch up or by @600 at the latest (so anons know you're still there).
Max number of breads in Previously Collected Notables?
4 - 5 lines. To make room, just delete the bottom line(s).

Timing Issues
What do I do after accepting the handoff?
Most bakers start by finding/copying pastebin (check Dough post first); prepping Create a Thread; and doing a quick dough check to make sure everything is ok. Then start collecting notables. Later, bakers will need to check bread title (update?), check notables page (more room needed?), and transfer notables from text editor to dough.
When to post a final notables list?
Depends on bread speed but usually around 680 - 710.
How to keep up with notables during fast breads?
Depends how fast. When Q posts, priority is on grabbing Q drops, not notes. During fast non-Q breads, focus on skimming off the 'cream' and leaving the rest. Always try to include noms but only if they're high quality (from anons not shills). Practice makes perfect.
How long does a New Thread take to show up after I select Create a Thread?
30 - 60 seconds unless there's a severe lag. If lag is bad, let anons know and ask them to wait for new thread.
Handoffs & Baker Comms
Good /comms/ are critical for well-baked breads, so need to be clear & easy to find.
Showing baker or note-taker changes
Easy to forget but useful to showing who's responsible for which notables. Insert "baker change" or "note-taker" at the point when the change occurs when recording notables.
Handoffs: call-and-response protocol
Baker announces he seeks handoff; available baker(s) announce they can bake; baker usually takes the first in line.
Example: B1:baker seeks handoff', B2:can bake, B1:handoff confirmed?, B2:confirmed, bread is mine
When shill activity is high, baker may be asked to produce a recent pastebin or other proof that he's legit.
Ghost bake protocols - ALWAYS TAG THE DOUGH POST!
When baker can't get a replacement, he may have to ghost the bread (leave it bakerless).
Example: B1:baker seeks handoff; will ghost @100, [no response], B1:baker leaving the kitchenghost bake
When another baker picks up the ghost:baker assuming responsibility.
Don't forget to TAG THE DOUGH POST so bakers arriving after @600 will know there's a baker (avoids dup bakes).
When there is more than one baker per bread
Two things to note:
1. Ordering of notables (can be more or less "top to bottom" or "bottom to top"): Either use the same order as first baker or change his to match yours; try not to mix them.
2. Use "baker change" to separate your work from first baker's. Don't treat first baker's notables like suggestions, respect them as if they are PB notables.
Making Reports and Global Reports
To report to BO/BVs, find little triangle on upper left of each post, select it, then use menu.
Use Report to ask BO to make bread changes that bakers can't make, e.g. changing a wrong bread number. You may need to do it more than once (or twice).
Use Global Reports for child porn (CP) or other illegal material. Someone is on-duty 24 hours.
Duplicate bakes
Use Report to ask for moldy bread to be locked and provide a link to 'good' bread.
Baking
See step-by-step instructions on page 1 of class dough. E-BAKE steps are there too.
To bake each page….
Divide bread into 4 posts by looking for /////BREAK\\\\\ markers. (For two-page notables, do it on-the-fly for page 2).
How to bake when the Catalog is down?
Use the Index (8kun.top/qresearch/index.html). You can Create a Thread there. Afterwards, locate your new thread this way: go past the pinned threads and the old thread; the new one is usually right after it. To "enter" that thread, click on the OP post number. (Allow at least 30 secs for new thread to appear.)
Baking Error Messages
Body too long
Happens when there are too many characters per post (maybe 5000) or too many lines (maybe 200). This seems to vary but gives you an idea).
Flood detected
Happens if you already posted same exact text (most common–if so, add a space somewhere). Can also happen during DDOS or when too many anons post at once.
Server took too long
Usual server response for /qresearch/ bakes (95% of bakes). Solution: WAIT AT LEAST 30-60 secs, then check the Catalog (should post despite the message).
Can be confusing for first-time bakers because this lag doesn't happen in /comms/.

Common Mistakes
Don't be afraid to make mistakes - all bakers make 'em (get used to it newbies!). Easy-to-make mistakes:
* Incomplete copypasta (not grabbing ALL the dough when baking for each post, so that top or bottom isn't there)
* Screwing up content or formatting for bread title (use Report to have BO/BVs correct).
* Not tagging the dough post in comms like handoffs, picking up a ghost bake or posting notes in a ghost bake
* Forgetting to use BOLD andred textfor handoffs, Notables posts, and other important comms
* Confusing "Create a Thread" in the Catalog with "Post a Reply" within a bread. (Avoid this by putting Create a Thread tab far away from tab with current bread.)
* Accidentally pressing Create a Thread before end of bread
(Solution: report premature thread to BO/BVs, post a link back to real bread, post an alert & apology to anons, then forget it & return to bake).
* Dough errors (Solution: generate new dough & post pastebin link in the bread. First-time bakers: just leave a message for next baker on the problem.)
Q Bakes & Other Fast Breads
Generally: When Q posts, drop everything and get to bottom of bread to pick up Q drops and put them in the dough. Pick up notes from there if you can. Bake EARLY - @630 is not uncommon.
Formatting Q drops & LINES
Check existing Q drops to see formatting; copy-pasta the LINES, don't try to do them yourself.
Cap for baker
Anons will usually post them for you. Search with F3 on the link or 'cap for baker'.
POTUS rally breads
These can be pretty speedy; bake early so anons have a place to post rally comments.
Dealing with Shills
Shills want a bread full of squabbling anons so that anons withdraw and good digs are overlooked. Just the presence of a baker deters them.

Telling anons from shills
Baker: "you can tell when a reasonable accommodation does not mollify." Posters who kvetch no matter what are shills, not anons.
Responding to shill tactics
Shills always test bakers, pressuring them on notables, dough changes, etc. If being reasonable does not work (see above), make a decision and stand firm with it.
Common shill tactics for screwing with bakers
Purposely leaving out dates on moldy notables; nomming a list of notables at end of bred; nomming hard-to-evaluate Q decodes w/no main point or title; including no sauce or crap sauce; burying bad stuff in the middle of a post (muh joos, etc), moaning about pb notables/asking for changes.
Anons do some of these things too but shills are more obvious about it.
Ways to respond when you're sure it's a shill:
* Generic shilling/spam: Generally ignore.
* When shills demand something: Respond calmly, with humor and facts, try funny memes to diffuse an attack (Left still can't meme).
Memes also tend to end the conversation. See Baker Tips for examples of how to outlaugh a shill.
* For a personal attack targeting you: If it's major, don't take that shit, fight back, it's war. Make the shill POS sorry he ever took you on with a powerful and meticulously documented, fact-based counterattack. Screencap the evidence. Remember, revenge is a dish best served cold.

Ten common "tells" that out new bakers
Focus mainly on specific acts that can be easily remedied (a) if new baker knows how (e.g., Global Report) or (b) baker realizes why they matter (e.g., tagging dough post).
Ten qwik 'n easy things to fix:
1 - using curly quotes from word processing programs to make bold
use text editors not word processors like Word
2 - copying the page breaks into the dough
know what they are and do not copy-pasta when baking! ////////////page 1\\\\\\\\\\\
3 - for Create a Thread, using wrong bread number
check and double check bread numbers before baking
4 - not tagging the dough post when picking up ghost bake, making dough changes, etc. (see >>19341, >>19374)
always tag the dough if there's more than one baker!
5 - trying to type in the formating lines for each Q post
don't do it, uses special characters so just copypasta
6 - omitting the colon in the title after the bred number: Q Research General #12695 My First Bread Edition
easy to do but easy to forget - important for aggregators
7 - replying to own posts when generating the dough
just copy in order, no RT necessary; see >>19339)
8 - trying to replicate lines in Q posts from scratch instead of using copy-pasta

10 - trying to contact BO by posting a message in /qr/ (instead of using Report or Global Report)

Ten challenges re baking attitude & practices:
More subtle and often more challenging initially bc it takes time to develop good habits.
1 - remembering it's about service not ego (hint: don't get triggered!)
let go of small annoyances to maintain 40000 ft view
2 - using good handoff protocol (so the board knows who's baking)
learn it, use it, don't get careless - it's important
3 - not freaking out when asked to provide a qbin/pastebin for verification
know how it works and why we do it (to batten down the hatches)
4 - using pretty set formatting for notables on dough page 2 (not realizing aggregator needs)
practice bake using exact formatting you see in LIVE bakes
5 - reading prior breads before baking (see >>19292)
keep up on the news & notables before baking when possible
6 - using qresear.ch to check for dups
use it; it works (exception: fast breads, heavy news)
7 - avoiding "cut-pasta" instead of "copy-pasta" (suddenly, your notes or dough - GONE!)
do enough practice baking to get 'muscle memory' to kick in b4 going LIVE
8 - strict "hands off" policy re notables of another baker (except for accuracy when needed)
essential for trust; really try to avoid(not true for note collector notables, can be edited)
9 - being careful about accuracy with notables (we can't change 'em so sauce really matters)
check for sauce & sauce quality; look for multiple reports of breaking news
10 - avoiding dreaded double-spacing of notables (happens when baker uses copy-pasta straight from dough instead of pastebin)
learn how to upload/download dough from pastebin/qbin

I've done three bakes so far. First one graveyard #12608 that I admit I got in a hurry and left the back end off. Second was for the Kaiserreich German board that had sat at 751 for a few days. Third one I recently did UK #19.
What I need to know is if I pick up a ghosted bake on graveyard and Q starts posting how do I get that into the header of the next bread? I will have to see about later doing breads at night where I will need to do a handoff. Without resorting to a pastebin ID, since I use the qanon.bin anyway, how do I let actual bakers know it's me the better at boatfagging amateur?

So you need to have the dough in a form where you can add stuff to it (in notepad++ for most of us).
Then add the Q drop using the format you see for other Q drops (just copypasta the lines - you choose the description & add caps if any).

Why do bakers verify who they are handing off to?
To try to make sure we're not handing off to a shill (or an unprepared noob during fast bakes).
There might be other reasons but that is the main one that I'm aware of and that makes sense to me. Bakers like to know they're handing off to someone who will take good care of the dough.
When 8bit was BO of qresearch and it snowed uphill both ways to school and back, he and his BVs used to help bakers out a bit by looking at the post history for a user's IP address.
Identifying users across threads like this is something that only BO/BVs can do, but it makes it easy to tell whether someone is a shill or not. If someone is on a VPN that switches IP addresses every so often, then this method won't work anyway.
This was also a lot of work for BO/BVs and it's really something the kitchen should be able to handle by itself.

Verification usually also means keeping a work history and proving that you are the person associated with that work history.
What are some ways that bakers have kept a work history and used it to verify their handoffs so far?
- pastebin.com
- a private board that only a single baker has access to, combined with an 8kun tripcode
- qanonbin.com
One verification method that I haven't seen used, but would work just fine, is something like a dedicated verification thread here on /comms/ and using that + a tripcode to confirm their posts.
What do these verification methods have in common?
Some secret piece of info that only I have (usually a password) and proof that I just used that password to confirm my identity somewhere.
- pastebin.com: I have a user account there, and no one else has access to the password associated with that account. Some of my past bakes are linked to this account: https://pastebin.com/u/newsbaker
- 8kun private board: I don't have one of these, but kekbees does. The secret info used here is the password that generates kekbees' unique tripcode, and the password he uses to get access to the admin interface as BO and make sure that only he can post on the >>>/doughlist/ board.
- qanonbin.com: I have a password there, which is used to generate my tripcode. Some of my past bakes are linked to this tripcode: https://www2.qanonbin.com/trip/k9VsKvRBTand
- verification using any 8kun board that allows tripcodes: the secret info I use for verification is the password that generates my unique tripcode.

BO and BVs can see our post history, as each post we make through the same IP address is turned into a unique 'hash' - a numbers n letters sequence that they can see, along with our past posts.
It isn't 100% failsafe, as anons can be using the same VPN and therefore the same IP addy of that connection.
Anons also change IP's legitimately (on mobile connections, travelling, reset routers), so if you change IPs the hash history is gone on the chan.
But can confirm - a hash check was used by 8bit when we came to the QR board, after a while, to verify bakers when the kitchen was experiencing shill bakes. Bakers could still be anon.

This is a correct and valid verification using pastebin.
There was some confusion about this because of the content of the pastebin - it contains links to wnb's dough buns.
But the content of the bin doesn't matter. Let's take a closer look at why:
In >>19890 I said the two elements of a successful verification are some secret piece of info that only one person has (usually a password that's used to log in to a known account or generate a known tripcode for that person) and proof that the account holder just used that account to confirm their identity.
- Secret piece of info that only one person has - Pastebin user cfranklin88 obviously did make this pastebin at some point. You can also click on their username to go to https://pastebin.com/u/cfranklin88 and see their paste history.
- Proof that the account holder just used that account to confirm their identity - for this, we compare the timestamps between the handoff post on 8kun and the pastebin. There is a difference of just a bit less than 1 minute between these timestamps.
This baker copy/pasted the dough post from the current bread into his verification bin, that's why you can see the post number, quoted posts, timestamp, etc, and also the original bins for that bread's dough.
This does not matter - the content of the paste could literally be empty and it is still a valid verification, because we have (1) proof that a known person used a known account and (2) proof that the account was used at the same time of the handoff offer + verification.
Hopefully this makes sense. Summary: the right thing to do when evaluating a verification is to completely ignore the content of the pastebin itself, and look at the username, the past history of that username, and the timestamp of the pastebin in relationship to the post offering a handoff.

What was freaky sometimes with 8bit and the BVs at the time (LEAF inc.) was that they sometimes posted a cap in the general, of all of someone's posts (or posts from the same IP). It made everyone wary. It was shills of course but still…
I change IPs all the time b/c travel a lot and for OPSEC, that's why I was glad I had my pastebin, which before had been only for personal archinve purposes. B/c I'd no hash history and one time was refused the bake so verified it was me through the pb.

Personally I have seen no evidence that anyone is tracking me based on my activity on 8kun. "normal" 8kun users do not have the ability to do this, and even BO/BV level users do not have the ability to trace an IP hash back to a real IP address. but I think diagnosing and working around common tech issues would also be a good thing to discuss.

Right. I haven't really said anything about how to offer a good verification yet, but that's pretty much the only thing I had to say.
I usually put "verify [current bread number]" in the bin content or title to keep it simple and make it super clear that it's a bin just for verifying a handoff.
It's a nice thing to do for other bakers, but not everyone understands this so don't get distracted by the paste content. Look at the user, the user's history, and the timestamps instead!

Agree with all of this.
I think it should be up to individual bakers to decide whether we are going to try to verify handoffs - when the board is flowing nicely we probably don't need to be as anal about that. When shills are out en masse then that's the time to pay more attention.
My goal here is to lay out the details of how and why this should work in order to make verification foolproof for those who choose to use it!

This is pretty easy, just make a new paste:

- The timestamp matches up closely with this post apart from the time it took me to finish writing it
The only other thing I'd like to mention is that when you use any site to verify your identity, you are implicitly trusting that site's administrators to operate the site correctly without changing data around.
Using pastebin for verification: we already know they delete shit whenever they feel like it.
Using 8kun for verification: good choice if you don't mind the couple of extra steps to host a dough, you're just placing your trust in Ron which you already need to do in order to use the site.
Using qanonbin for verification: this means you are trusting me not to edit or delete anything. I've been thinking a lot about this and what's happened lately.
Here's what I'm going to do personally, from now on.
- Stop verifying myself when offering to bake through my pb. I'll show baker who it is as I did before, without namefagging, tripfagging or pb. If baker doesn't want to handoff then fine. I'll chill, take the time off and/or pick up any bread when it's ghosted.
- Stop asking the baker I'm handing off to for verification. If I'm unsure I'll stick around for their first bake, as before
- Continue to backup new bakers and new bakers and stick up for them when/if they're being attacked
- Fix the dough when I see it needs it
- Continue to tend to the dough as I've always done

muh autism may be showing a bit here but I can't think of a better way to explain it.
Many bakers have a set of images they like to post. Many regular bakers can recognize each other through existing relationships whether on or off-board - if that works for you then great!
Personally I put caps of your own bakes with ( You )s into this same category because they are easily faked.
My recommendation would be don't treat this as 100% evidence - if you want to know for sure who you're handing off to, then offer and check verification using a known account and a recent timestamp using that account.

Summary:
When confirming a handoff to someone who has offered verification, look for a known user account and a confirmed recent use of that account that relates back to the handoff post.
There are many possible ways to do verification 100% correctly but all of them share these elements in common.
When offering verification, make a new bin for this purpose!
It's a good idea to be very clear about what you're doing ("verify handoff for bread 12345") and not include other bin links, but the content is not the important part of verification!)

Yes, we hand off informally based on relationships, espec when things aren't too crazy. Shills are like bureaucrats - don't like that, gotta be 'fair' - treat everyone 'equally' (frens & strangers alike).

Generally pretty good with new bakers - patient. But they gotta respond when given feedback and some do not - mebbe bc they're trying to do the 'tough baker' thing. Which doesn't work for a newbie. New bakers gotta learn what they can and can't do without help.
If they wanna jump in and don't practice enough b4 baking - they make mistakes. If yer gonna jump in, fine, but ya gotta be able to take feedback coz yer gonna get plenty. And when yer baking live, it's gonna be public.
Maybe the biggest lessons to learn: how to take feedback in the big arena. Tough lesson but a good one.

The handoff procedures, they're on a call and response, like military comms -
- Baker requests handoff
- New baker offers (doesn't confirm - that's up to the baker)
- Baker confirms or not
- New baker confirms they have it
So 4 comms, to save any confusion.
If any one is missed it's not a handoff.
It's good that bakers told you this rather than ignored you. I'm advocating for the harrassment of new bakers to stop btw.

I say let new bakers learn from their mistakes without bakers interfering and being critical.

be careful coz your experience may not be everybody's. i've had to be very persistent to get a response from F88 - and i've been real patient. KB knows too - also been patiently helping this new baker. F88 now knows how to post the link for his notables, but that was a tough one. He did apologize for a mistake last night wo/being asked, which is very good. Next thing is learning to ask first (instead of after).
BTW, F said to me that he is not really a new baker, just no longer anon. But makes definite new baker mistakes. So not sure what he means. Am supportive and not negative with him, but he can just go off and do stuff wo/asking, doesn't say what he's doing or ask anyone what they think - like reverting the green links last night. And in the middle of a bake, that was rather strange.

The other time i had extensive interactions was when he screwed up the links 7x for notables but just kept saying he understood when he didn't. Tried to explain and even gave him the specific instructions you use to create page 2 in the dough. Tried many things including simply giving him the a corrected dough when he didn't seem to
understand, that's what we do for new bakers. Didn't use it, took four more breads to get things straightened out. Anons were a lot more critical than me.

well, it's hard for me to come up with a good argument to justify wanting to correct a mistake - a mistake that any competant baker would not make. The important thing is that a new baker knows how to do something properly. And if he doesn't, he needs to learn.

As far as vetting bakers go at handoffs, i've always that was fraught with problems and said so from the start. But not strongly bc i understand the need to try to vet the baker they are handing off too. It's just a hard thing to do with such limited info.
Put the responsibility back where it belongs: on BO/BVs. They have much better info than bakers, and if we had a cooperative relationship with them, it would help this vetting process a lot. But we don't. And we don't by their choice, not ours.
Bakers are trying to do so many things with a very limited set of tools. It's not the fault of bakers that a new baker has trouble getting in the kitchen (assuming this is true - i don't know, don't bake days enough). Bakers are trying to do something that's really hard to do wo support from mgmt. I'm not gonna bitch about the situation - it is what it is - but gonna say, let's not blame each other. We fukken work ourselves to the bone and them some. Do the best we can in a tough situation.

qbin does not have an edit option, because once a paste is made, it shouldn't be changed.
You might try clicking "clone" on an existing dough instead, and only saving that new paste when the new bread is ready.
Most bakers also edit the dough in Notepad++ or another editor program on their computer.

added a space to my post and then it went through. looks like the 8kun flood detector thing thought the post had succeeded even though it hadn't. that happens during bakes too, and you can usually fix it by adding a space somewhere in the post

when I go to do something it takes ages and before it was instant. This is a few weeks old, brand new computer and I have a Chinese phone that I blue toothed to the computer, instead of sync (because I don't know how yet) and think maybe I did something very wrong. good lord, rolling eyes at self. getting a new phone in two weeks. don't know how to un-blue tooth the bugger.

I also spot checked a few of your practice bakes, they look excellent, only thing I saw was that in >>20234 the bread title is #12779 but the first notable bin is also #12779. the title should always be one more than the first notables bin, so I guess that title should be #12780. the other 2 I spot checked were literally perfect, didn't see any issues at all. great work.
I think collecting good notes is one of the hardest parts of baking, and there's not really a good way to practice that other than doing it live
I just ghosted the main bread if you wanna try it, cant think any more and need to sleep

Re bakers not supporting other bakers, new and old
Spend about 20 hours looking at breads and collecting posts. Necessary to satisfy myself about the things you said. It wasn't just my actions but those of other bakers in the situations described. Ended up with six or seven caps with detailed info.
Seemed like serious stuff that deserved a definite response. First, to know if there was anything i would say or do differently having looked twice. Second, to see whether there seemed to be some general problem for bakers a group.
After two days of work, my answer was NO to both questions. Except for the usual minor misunderstandings/miscomms, did not find anything other than
(for oldfag baker), baker rough-housing/banter which had a "happy - and rather funny - ending" and (for newfag baker) a careful and considerate giving of baking feedback/info by more than one party over a two-day period. Two overriding motives again and again: (a) to support baker and (b) to generate a clean dough.
Not gonna post the caps. Have no wish to put colleagues who work their butts off every day under a highly public microscope in real time. Just not worth it. Will only say that what I saw on the whole was bakers giving feedback that was situationally appropriate. Ditto for anons. Even the 'roughest' remarks were not really unkind; and strong statements in one post were often tempered by something lighter in succeeding posts, even apologies when needed. If anything, this exercise strengthened my conviction that this kitchen is essentially solid. Not comp'd, crazy, or careless.
Was gonna wait and think about what to post a little longer. But i need to address one issue specifically: the idea that i said baker "fucked up" - coz direct quotes imply that i literally said "fucked up." The attached cap shows what i said. Bare-bones description of the correction needed and how the situation came about. Did that on purpose, in the interests of keeping things impersonal.
Re "keeping an eye" on the situation
Said "will monitor." Was to an anon who sent a post which raised concerns–in same bread as cap. Anon had given feedback several times. Why not implemented, he asked? Well, IDK. How to say the right thing on a board where everything is public? All one can do is try.
There are now many resources for bakers new and old. But it's up newfags to use 'em and for oldfags to keep up with kitchen changes. That's just common sense. In the end, "he who bakes is responsible for the bread he bakes." my 2cents.
If there are q's, i'll answer. Other than that, i consider this matter over and done with.

fwiw, I definitely see the general problem. existing bakers are reluctant to accept new bakers, and are often harder on new bakers than on people we already know.
I think this is mostly due to "in-group bias" which is well documented.
I did not see any problem with your specific statements in this situation though.
I still think it is also a problem when bakers are unable to see anon feedback due to their own ego, thinking everyone that could possibly have anything negative to say about them is a shill. when anyone gets to that point they are effectively having a conversation with their own ego instead of being able to pay attention to what others are saying, and it is very difficult to reach through that.

Generally
What hardware/software is needed in order to bake?
Laptop or desktop (phonefagging hard for newbies & tablets lack power). The bigger the screen, the better. Text editor like Notepad++ (for PCs) or Atom (for Macs).
What other skills are good for a baker?
Patience, persistence, high tolerance for criticism, ability to say no to shills. Good enough typing to more or less keep up the pace.
What shift is good for a new baker?
A slow shift like late night to early morning (also, Q seldom posts then). If you take a faster shift, just tell anons you're new and you'll get support.
Bakers Tools
This is an independent tool that anyone can use, but you don't need it to bake.
Baking in TOR
TOR doesn't allow images but does allow embedded YT vids; use for General (Iwo Jima) image. There's usually a TOR vid in "Baking" section of the /qresearch/ dough.
Don't change previous baker's notables
Possible exceptions: bad links, spelling errors, when they give specific permission.
Baking everyday vs every so often
Whether you can bake a little or a lot, help is always welcome in the kitchen.

The dough = first 4-5 posts/pages in each bread. Each post in one document separated by /////BREAK\\\\\\ markers.
Organization
post 1 - Q posts, post 2 - Notables, post 3 - War Room, post 4 - QPosts Archives. Notables page can be broken into two pages on the fly if notable buns are long (even tho there's no BREAK marker).
Dough problems & change requests
New bakers sometimes inherit a funny-looking dough or are asked by anons to make dough changes. If you're not sure what to do, say so and defer to next baker. Often, bakers in the thread will jump in to help.
Practice Baking
You can practice bake in /comms/, established in 2018 by BO Rusty. After getting down the basic steps, try shadow baking (following a real bake to get the timing down).
Green text
In /comms/ practice bakes using Q Research doughs, links don't work and text is green.
Q&A & getting feedback
Practice bakers can ask q's by posting in the baking seminar thread or baker's Meta thread in /comms/.

What is pastebin.com?
An app/site that stores the dough so bakers can transfer it to next baker.
Do I need an account to use pastebin.com?
No, anyone can use it as a GUEST. You can also (optionally) add a pastebin name to identify your acct to anons.
How to make a new pastebin
Copy entire dough from text editor, upload to pastebin.com, select New Paste, paste in dough, select Create New Paste at bottom. See step-by-step instructions for more.

Notables
How to tell what is notable?
A few ideas: look for anon noms, Q decodes, POTUS tweets/retweets, planefag/boatfag reports, relevant news items (for breaking news, check qresear.ch to avoid dups).
Usually, memes are not notabled. Unsauced tweets & articles must be sauced first (quality matters).
How to format notables list?
Formats vary, but best to use bold orred text. Examples: 'Early notables', 'Notables @200', 'Notables #11956 @300'. Always link to dough post if ghosting after posting.
How often do you post notables?
Often enough to give anons multiple chances to have their say about notable selection, some ideas:
* 200, 400, 600 (plus a FINAL) or * 250, 500, Last Call around 640 (plus a FINAL).
If you take the bake late: Post notes as soon as you catch up or by @600 at the latest (so anons know you're still there).
Max number of breads in Previously Collected Notables?
4 - 5 lines. To make room, just delete the bottom line(s).
Timing Issues
What do I do after accepting the handoff?
Most bakers start by finding/copying pastebin (check Dough post first); prepping Create a Thread; and doing a quick dough check to make sure everything is ok. Then start collecting notables. Later, bakers will need to check bread title (update?), check notables page (more room needed?), and transfer notables from text editor to dough.
When to post a final notables list?
Depends on bread speed but usually around 680 - 710.
How to keep up with notables during fast breads?
Depends how fast. When Q posts, priority is on grabbing Q drops, not notes. During fast non-Q breads, focus on skimming off the 'cream' and leaving the rest. Always try to include noms but only if they're high quality (from anons not shills). Practice makes perfect.
How long does a New Thread take to show up after I select Create a Thread?
30 - 60 seconds unless there's a severe lag. If lag is bad, let anons know and ask them to wait for new thread.

_Handoffs & Baker Comms__
Good /comms/ are critical for well-baked breads, so need to be clear & easy to find.
Showing baker or note-taker changes
Easy to forget but useful to showing who's responsible for which notables. Insert "baker change" or "note-taker" at the point when the change occurs when recording notables.
Handoffs: call-and-response protocol
Baker announces he seeks handoff; available baker(s) announce they can bake; baker usually takes the first in line.
Example: B1:baker seeks handoff', B2:can bake, B1:handoff confirmed?, B2:confirmed, bread is mine
When shill activity is high, baker may be asked to produce a recent pastebin or other proof that he's legit.
Ghost bake protocols - ALWAYS TAG THE DOUGH POST!
When baker can't get a replacement, he may have to ghost the bread (leave it bakerless).
Example: B1:baker seeks handoff; will ghost @100, [no response], B1:baker leaving the kitchenghost bake
When another baker picks up the ghost:baker assuming responsibility.
Don't forget to TAG THE DOUGH POST so bakers arriving after @600 will know there's a baker (avoids dup bakes).
When there is more than one baker per bread
Two things to note:
1. Ordering of notables (can be more or less "top to bottom" or "bottom to top"): Either use the same order as first baker or change his to match yours; try not to mix them.
2. Use "baker change" to separate your work from first baker's. Don't treat first baker's notables like suggestions, respect them as if they are PB notables.

Making Reports and Global Reports
To report to BO/BVs, find little triangle on upper left of each post, select it, then use menu.
Use Report to ask BO to make bread changes that bakers can't make, e.g. changing a wrong bread number. You may need to do it more than once (or twice).
Use Global Reports for child porn (CP) or other illegal material. Someone is on-duty 24 hours.
Duplicate bakes
Use Report to ask for moldy bread to be locked and provide a link to 'good' bread.

To bake each page….
Divide bread into 4 posts by looking for /////BREAK\\\\\ markers. (For two-page notables, do it on-the-fly for page 2).
How to bake when the Catalog is down?
Use the Index (8kun.top/qresearch/index.html). You can Create a Thread there. Afterwards, locate your new thread this way: go past the pinned threads and the old thread; the new one is usually right after it. To "enter" that thread, click on the OP post number. (Allow at least 30 secs for new thread to appear.)
Baking Error Messages
Body too long
Happens when there are too many characters per post (maybe 5000) or too many lines (maybe 200). This seems to vary but gives you an idea).
Flood detected
Happens if you already posted same exact text (most common–if so, add a space somewhere). Can also happen during DDOS or when too many anons post at once.
Server took too long
Usual server response for /qresearch/ bakes (95% of bakes). Solution: WAIT AT LEAST 30-60 secs, then check the Catalog (should post despite the message).
Can be confusing for first-time bakers because this lag doesn't happen in /comms/.

_Common Mistakes__
Don't be afraid to make mistakes - all bakers make 'em (get used to it newbies!). Easy-to-make mistakes:
* Incomplete copypasta (not grabbing ALL the dough when baking for each post, so that top or bottom isn't there)
* Screwing up content or formatting for bread title (use Report to have BO/BVs correct).
* Not tagging the dough post in comms like handoffs, picking up a ghost bake or posting notes in a ghost bake
* Forgetting to use BOLD andred textfor handoffs, Notables posts, and other important comms
* Confusing "Create a Thread" in the Catalog with "Post a Reply" within a bread. (Avoid this by putting Create a Thread tab far away from tab with current bread.)
* Accidentally pressing Create a Thread before end of bread
(Solution: report premature thread to BO/BVs, post a link back to real bread, post an alert & apology to anons, then forget it & return to bake).
* Dough errors (Solution: generate new dough & post pastebin link in the bread. First-time bakers: just leave a message for next baker on the problem.)
Q Bakes & Other Fast Breads
Generally: When Q posts, drop everything and get to bottom of bread to pick up Q drops and put them in the dough. Pick up notes from there if you can. Bake EARLY - @630 is not uncommon.
Formatting Q drops & LINES
Check existing Q drops to see formatting; copy-pasta the LINES, don't try to do them yourself.
Cap for baker
Anons will usually post them for you. Search with F3 on the link or 'cap for baker'.
POTUS rally breads
These can be pretty speedy; bake early so anons have a place to post rally comments.
Dealing with Shills
Shills want a bread full of squabbling anons so that anons withdraw and good digs are overlooked. Just the presence of a baker deters them.

Telling anons from shills
Baker: "you can tell when a reasonable accommodation does not mollify." Posters who kvetch no matter what are shills, not anons.
Responding to shill tactics
Shills always test bakers, pressuring them on notables, dough changes, etc. If being reasonable does not work (see above), make a decision and stand firm with it.
Common shill tactics for screwing with bakers
Purposely leaving out dates on moldy notables; nomming a list of notables at end of bred; nomming hard-to-evaluate Q decodes w/no main point or title; including no sauce or crap sauce; burying bad stuff in the middle of a post (muh joos, etc), moaning about pb notables/asking for changes.
Anons do some of these things too but shills are more obvious about it.
Ways to respond when you're sure it's a shill:
* Generic shilling/spam: Generally ignore.
* When shills demand something: Respond calmly, with humor and facts, try funny memes to diffuse an attack (Left still can't meme).
Memes also tend to end the conversation. See Baker Tips for examples of how to outlaugh a shill.
* For a personal attack targeting you: If it's major, don't take that shit, fight back, it's war. Make the shill POS sorry he ever took you on with a powerful and meticulously documented, fact-based counterattack. Screencap the evidence. Remember, revenge is a dish best served cold.
