Intro to Baking

Qresearch is a 24/7 beehive of activity where anons post their diggs, memes and prayers. For this to happen requires bakers–which is why they have been called "the core of this board." Bakers perform several key functions: First, they maintain the infrastructure of the board (the dough), keeping it clean, tidy, and up-to-date. Second, they manage the transition from one bread to another (baking). Third, they post notables for each bread. Last, bakers set the tone for each bread via their choice of bread title and /comms/ with posters. When all goes well, baking is a fun & exciting opportunity to serve. When things get wonky and shills attack–bakers carry on anyway. Shadilay, fellow bakers!

Doing notables-and this may seem redundant and overkill to some but remember it's for everyone

I am NOT the authority with this and not in charge and don't want to be. If it helps..great..if not I am not going to be offended or pull a rainman on ya.

This is based on experience but also is the result of a lack of latency that others deal with..I don't have near as much as most of you…you can figure that one out on your own..based on location to a certain sub host (DRT). It's in the archive from Summer 2018. This all started because of gaps between bakers, saw a need and did it. spend multiple hours a day here and watch much moar than I post although I do have high post counts at times but also put a lot of content in. Realize that anyone can do this and if you in a ceratain section of socal you can do this just as fast as I can-it just takes the will to do so.

Notables are not the panacea of this board however if you do not spend many hours a day here you need a way to get quickly up to speed. That is why they are a great tool for everyone.

What you need in your bookmark folder:

Stand alone link to captcha so you don't get caught out when you drop. Having that easily available link is only going to save you frustration and time. Was moar prescient during notables creek for sure. Shout out to the baker who took the notes produced and baked them-that was fun my nigga but tiring. 15 hours a day for a week straight takes its's toll.

It's also helpful to have an open link to the catalog/index while your bred is open. This is so the catalog can update your bred-this is not a big issue now but during the next DDOS it will allow the catalog to update your bred and not relying on the open bred to do it. I can't speak to the 100% effectiveness of this but it seemed to help when we came back on and during the many DDOS's of the last 2 plus yrs. The first bit of notables collection when 8kun came back on it helped for sure.

This is for an easy return to the bred should you have technical issues, have my share of them still. If you are just starting out and have not baked encourage you to do some notes along with the bakers-just start a notepad collection and then compare with the drops and you'll quickly get an idea of what is good, bad or indifferent. It also helps if you can use the practice baking area along with a general collection of notables. Not everyone knows it all..I certainly do not and no one is going to get it correct all the time. It also is healthy to have a bit of anxiety when doing this…not a lot because that can consume you as well. It helps being "on" and forces you to be alert and always looking for additions to a bun. There are still gaps but they are closing since these classes began (hat tip to gy for that). Remember everyone fucks up now and then so don't be afraid to bake simply because you may screw it up-if you do just learn from it and move on.

Managing expectations of shills and other anons:

Simply put… don't even try. You are always going to have a complainer no matter what you do. Ignore it but always be open to suggestions if they are gracious in presenting them. The "fuck you baker you didn't do (insert whatever issue is here)" is not going to get anything out of me ever. Does that make me correct about it? no but try to be on this side of the receipt of that sperg a thon.

Discerning what to include:

This is easy with basic articles from known sources (bad or good). Open up the link and get the title for the crumb from the open link. You need not read the entire thing just a cursory glance should suffice. If you are not sure of how old it is check the comments section to see how many exist. If it is older than today it is helpful to put the date next to the title. Not everyone spends multiple hours here every day so you will be asked to put in something from a day ago or so-especially when it's nommed. Just indicate that in the crumb link. I've seen the same article posted 4-5 X a day.

This an opinion ONLY- Always include these

Social Media is still something I do not do (have a twatter acct but do not use) and I consider it marginal because it can be anyone saying whatever they want-there are a few that seem to be ok but there are a few things you should include:

Major Political Figures but not all of them: POTUS, KANSAS and ususally DJT jr are essential but after that it gets a bit moar complex. It depends on what they say and how it relates to the current habbenings. Again anons will let you know.. if unsure ask.

Military Twats-plenty of coded messages in these and anons will jump on these quickly so it's not a big deal to decode it yourself.

International News- It is very important to show what the rest of the world is doing and how they are reacting. I read much of the Japanese press but do not speak it-I know enough to keep me out of trouble. Media tends to be a little less comped but not by much outside the US but they are owned by the same organizations. Example: when doing financial news I usually take out the analysts comments as they are there to re-enforce a certain narrative pushed by the article. Since Reuters and B'Berg are the majority of these they try to obfuscate points with some flowery language and then have some ANALyst back it up. Once you become familiar with fin terms this is easier to separate the wheat from the chaff. With any article done by MSM you will not always agree with it but it is what is reported and anons WW need to see how it is being managed.

The clock: this was and still is a useful tool…mebby less so now but this again is just an opinion. The clock helped me early on and was also helpful to give to spouse. When it "ran out" the day after Thanksgiving 2018 it became less useful. But still has it's merits, especially if used with normies. I still owe you clockfags a case of something for helping to bring my spouse on board and I intend to honor that

Unsauced stuff: politely ask for sauce if it is not provided. Some anons will just find it and attach it as needed.

Anon proofs or written by anons

This is harder and is based on the time you , as a baker, have to properly assess what it is and the validity of said submission. Proofs were easier to do in 2018 as the connections were new to almost everyone and it didn't take much to link the drops to information available. Seen some good ones and the really good ones have a title to them. Anons are only cheapening their own hard work if they do not have a title for any baker/notetaker to evaluate. If you are not sure just ask. anons will tell you if it's shit or not. A good way to do it is to have that crumb on your notepad and watch the comments that appear. If no comments.. it is probably safe to not include but if you feel it should be in just ask for feedback.

New bakers should not feel that they cannot talk to others…how else will you learn? exactly what I did. Had some great mentors and they know who they are..ty brutha's.

yes, missed ya today, was up early. almost baked but doc showed up to scoop up muh collector's notes. so i could do some more work here.

although we can always do more–and there is some more still to do–we now have a basic dough for this place. And a little library of resources for both anons and bakers.

LIVE classes are the best. But think of how much easier it will be for new bakers with these steps and vids. And maybe some of the stuff we talk about here with other bakers – the problems we encounter and how we address them. Never had anything like that before.

Will have to figure out how to package for /qresearch/ dough in a bit, i think. Add to "how to bake" section?

STEP 9

TIMING

This slide gives an idea on timing, and the sequence we generally make when baking.

Note that with timing, all bakers are different and all shifts are different.

Play it by ear and find your own timing.

If Q posts and it's day or evening shift (busy), or if there are issues with the board, you may want to start baking at 630 posts.

If it's a slower bread for instance graveyard, you could start baking at 700 - 720.

It all depends, and one of the skills you'll learn while baking is timing.

Bakers are constantly working on getting their timing bang on, so don't worry if you're early or late, we all are sometimes.

Two reasons:

1. variable hard to predict lag.

It's a nice bun, baker.

Everyone has their baking style–some bakers add moar than others, some less. But unless bread is very fast, i check qresear.ch to see if already notabled–that cuts out some of them.

That George notable was controversial; might take a second look. The How to post info for bakers was put in as a global notable so you don't really need it in the regular notables.

Stuff like McCabe being seen on Feb 14–there's a lot of that kind of speculation about people disappearing, most of the time they reappear.

You could try to separate clearly important news from secondary stuff, also. Stuff on corona (like latest quarantine news) can often be combined into one entry with a generic title ("corona news" , "corona research") – a lot depends on how important it is.

Just my 2 cents worth, you'll get a feel for what's primary and what's not as you go along. I tend to include a lot, must my style. But "neutralize" inflammatory headlines and always ask "how is it relevant to what Q is pointing to right now?"

How to handle notables when there is more than one baker per bread

There are no hard and fast rules here, but the following is based on baking traditions that seem to work pretty well.

1. If there are already notables:

Can be from a baker or note-taker.

a. Notes from a baker: try your best to leave Baker 1's notable intact unless there are obvious spelling errors, major factual errors, or anon objections that don't come from shills (usually obvious).

b. Notes from a note-taker: depends on the note-taker. Can range for 2-3 sketchy notes to a bun that looks ready for baking. Generally, note-taker notes are like suggestions. But with experienced note-takers, I usually leave their notes alone or make only minor changes–and also give credit, see below.

2. Insert "baker change" in the notes to show where you picked up the bake. (If a note-taker made a significant contribution, i also insert something like "note collector" to show his notables.) Every so often–like during e-bakes–there are so many contributors that the best notation is "crowd bake."

3. Ordering the notes: When I'm Baker 2, I always use Baker 1's order. Next bread, I'm can change it up if i want. Details: Q posts are always in new-to-old order. But notes can be ordered either up or down (up is new-to-old, down is old-to-new). In long breads with multiple note-takers/bakers, it's common to go down (common in gy shift)–less confusing. But there's no rule.

Here's an example of a "two-baker" bread where Baker 2 keeps the same order as Baker 1 and marks the the change of baker in the notes (this is not usually bolded, just used here for emphasis):

The baking school is beginning to pay off. Not only does it give would-be bakers an easy, step-by-step approach to baking but also the chance to ask questions and kind of 'grok' the baker culture by participating in discussions with the bakers who attend (usually the teacher plus at least 3-5 others).

So it helps bridge the gap between bakers and anons–which is very important.

On a board like /qrb/, the tension between the two is very low, in part bc we don't have shills division-fagging. But also, we don't usually attract shill bakers (true even last summer). But on /qresearch/ there can be bigger problems. And in fact, it was dissatsifaction with bakers one day that led to the board takeover by BO. Anons were genuinely unhappy with the bakers that day, and a subset begged BO to "do something." That subset was probably a bunch of shills, possibly planted in advance. At least some of the bakers were unknown, so they could also have been plants. The suspicious part was just how well-prepared BO was to immediately take over–like he had it planned.

But still–this could never have happened if there had been better /comms/ between bakers and anons in the first place. In addition to helping anons to bake, the baking school also makes it easier for anons to understand where bakers are coming from–and vice-versa. Win-win.

hey teach - after seeing the aftermath of an ebake last night, had this idea.

Idea: E-bake module for complete beginners

This could be a class just for anons wanting to know how to ebake

OR

an hour-long mini-class (maybe 3 pm instead of 4pm)–I could probably do it

OR

super simple instructions in the baking section of the dough

(yes we have baking instructions–but this would be simplified and stripped down: intended for just anons who e-bake at the last minute wo/notables)

8bit's wisdom is evident in the early structure of the board and his creation of QRB as a backup

nearly two years ago as the qresearch board was still changing and forming into what you see now there was a debate about baking

specifically who could bake

we had bakers who either thru incompetence or malice would fuck it up

some would fuck up the dough in not so obvious ways

accusations and counter accusations

during this time a few anons suggested ways to provide ways for the regular bakers to verify which baker they were, so they and the anons could know who baked what

it's why trips are allowed and encouraged here

8bit the BO at the time compromised to satisfy both the no ID and positive ID factions by posting a checkmark by prospective bakers who had baked before, not which baker they were or if they had made numerous 'mistakes' in the past but just if they had baked before or not.

Bakers would request hand off and those anons who replied would be vetted by BO or a BV with a checkmark showing they had baked before, those who had never baked were not often allowed to bake but it did happen occasionally

the whole "baker's union" concept is that a group of bakers would take over the kitchen and not allow any outside the group to bake and thus subvert the bread to fit their agenda not Q's

this hypothetical union would use minecraft or discord to communicate on a sub chanel to coordinate their activities, would use anonymity to appear as 'new bakers' and thus excuse some of the subversion via 'mistakes'

by using this boogey-man of a "baker's union" the whole idea of bakers and anons being able to verify which one was which went out the window

you've heard bits of this theory from rainman

namefaging for authority is not well looked upon in this free speech forum because many times it leads to famefagin

that being said there are occasions where the positive verification of authorship is relevant and baking seems to me to be one of those situations

the way this whole baking thing has evolved has led to this loose confederation of anons interested in baking and helping other anons learn the mechanical techniques and the mental principles involved

and here, we are using labels to ID each other and help keep conversations that span threads clear

I'm just trying to warn against possible tactics that might be used against any type of baker organization

maybe I'm paranoid, maybe it's prudent, only time will tell

but here on /comms/ all are welcome to create a secure tripcode and use the name function to verify their authorship

because sometimes it is reassuring to know that you are communicating with the same anon today that you were communicating with in the past

Thx a lot - very helpful to have an account of early attacks on /qrsearch/ bakers. Below is an account of the Baker's Union campaign from May - Aug 2019. You know a lot about this but others may not.

Bakers Union Campaign

When I was new to the board in Fall 2018, everything seemed relatively normal–shills etc but no big-time attacks on bakers. Then 8bit gave up his BO position to BVs in early April 2019, just after i started baking. Nobody knew at the time that he was forced to do so by the BVs.

Once they took over, problems ensued right away, e.g., BV once deleted half the notables when i was baking by banning supposed spammer. Then they deleted the Information Warfare thread (mine); later other threads were also deleted. @FJ soon took the vacated BO position for himself and announced there would be no more baker checks, even tho they were helpful for checking on shills (CAP 2).

At the end of April, @FJ instituted per post captchas. At first, anons were divided on that bc it looked like it might help with shills/spam. Turned out not to be true, and gradually most anons turned against them. I was never a fan because it made bakingwhich is already a challengeeven tougher. When I objected, @FJ noted my hashed id and started coming after me repeatedly. I was not the only one but was definitely targeted. CAP 1 shows the start.

After that, @FJ started doing sneak attacks at night on bakers, always with his fukken flashing BO tripcode, sometimes together with BVs. Shills would join in the shitshow to the point where no one would bake the late shifts. By the end of May, @FJ was claiming that 80% of bakers were comp'd and posted the buffalo slaughter pics to intimidate bakers and anons - CAP 2.

It took a while for most anons to realize the full scope of the problem–and many did not truly realize it until @fj actually seized the board in mid-July (using the pretext of non-responsive bakers as an excuse). The changes he made to the dough were not endorsed by anons or bakers, especially forcing notables off the main thread.

At that point, most of the baking crew fled to /qrb/ after 8bit set it up, but visited /qresearch/ for Q posts. Then @fj kicked the remaining bakers off /qresearch/. (Still wondering who he got to bake his crappy muh joos breads). In the end, @FJ only backed down because Q said "revert the dough." But he never apologized to anons but instead continued to subvert the board right up to deplatforming: >>>/qrb/19846, >>>/qrb/36504

At this point, I hold no grudge towards @FJ but do retain both the memory of what went down and the evidence to prove it. What's in the caps is part of the picture.

that anti-baker campaign was pretty successful

Baking crew is rad. Solid group. Just new a few more lotsas. "Lotsa" idea came one night when shills were trying to get bakers to offer handoff each and every bred, saying we only handed off to our 'favs.' Complete bs. I think i said how yeah, sure, there are lotsa bakers to hand off to–and mv ran with it. Irritates the shills no end whenever we have fun.

as a BV leafy / AFLB (Anti Fungal Leaf Bread) could see a bit more than anons can, but not much really

you don't get to see the actual IP (safety feature built in to platform) you see an IP hash that does not change unless the actual IP of the anon does, it's constant from bread to bread day to day

AFLB was seeing attacks from similar IPs, block groups etc…

no doubt it was from VPNs but paranoia fed upon itself and AFLB went ban hammer happy and banned huge numbers of IPs thinking it was government groups that had blocks of IPs

some of them were shills

most were not

I was banned mid bake in early Feb 2018 and made this board during my 3 day vacation. I have to go thru extra steps to change my IP so I don't

the uproar over the ban hammer fest and some real shilling drove AFLB to extremes and 8bit took his keys away… I think that may have been what broke the camel's back so to speak as leafy has never been the same.

I think leafy baked in the early days of 4ch and during the migration, may have been mixed up in the cause… not sure

has long used "moldy" as a pejorative and was probably the 1st to use it, it's come into common use and now is not indicative of authorship

AFLB was a big part of the early days and had very, very strong opinions and that 'obsession' along with losing the BV position only HE could save the board from the menace really took it's toll

I missed Bake 7 class.

I was on the wrong day.

In the last section of Bake class 6

someone mentioned jdownload, which I really need for back -up. I am very behind in my back up tasks

Is there a place I can go to get help on that program.

I'm on linux. I downloaded and installed. And it started working on its own , collecting everything. I don't have room for everything. I have to set-up for a download.

I tried to read the manual. And I can't follow it right now. Maybe with more study.

I 've got the space now for the Geman anon full download.

Let me know where to go for advise. I know this likely the wrong place.

I want to bake but with so much going on, have this downloading issue on my mind.

Here's my thinking on these instructions. Wanted to do really simple instructions just for e-baking. Maybe bc i'm on gy where e-bakes happen a lot.

Couldn't use the latest instructions we're using for the baking class because they include videos–which take too long to load.

(Ideally, we'd have a video that goes thru the whole process–baking and ebaking–with text overlaps at key points. Want to learn how to do the overlays when time permits.This is definitely a possibility if we use endchan for posting vids–because it allows 350 mg vids. Just post on endchan qrbunker board.)

I gave the BV's a little too much leeway/too many chances, I even took the bullets for the battle of the boobs (BVs idea) kek. If I were BO of /qresearch/ I would do things much much differently, understanding all the mistakes I've made now. Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20. Moved on.

As you can see by the /qresearch/ board logs, the old BVs are out and FJ installed some new ones. He has the benefit of having a network of good friends who he can trust and who trust him. I didn't have that. I trust the current staff team at this point and don't wish for anymore divisionfagging. We got in contact with eachother and talked. They're doing a much better job than before. /qresearch/ is safe, and that's all that matters to me.

baker oss1 had something weird habben when he baked. here's what page 3 looked like (CAP).

That page was changed a little the day before, tracked it down but still don't know if that's why his dough was so weird many breads later. But whoever made the change is a "guest" (unnamed pastebin).

Yes - would be better bc it's always harder to get anything done off the General thread (much less "off board"). But hard to imagine a truly cooperative relationship between FJ and anons. Will make necessary changes but there is still no real spirit of cooperation, truly do not know what motivates him. One thing to his credit: he does not seem to ban users just bc they disagree with him. Big kudos on that one.

For clarification on the confusion yesterday, I wasn't getting the error so when I asked if the dough was ok it was because when I arrived mid bread 11081 the baker had ghosted, no notes from 11080, I asked anons to collect '80 while I collected '81, conitued 81, 82 and 83. On '82 or '83 (going off memory) I asked Anons to check the dough to make sure it all looked ok. I was unaware of the revisions, (I had just woke up when the '81 debacle happened) and was not getting any errors in the dough, but being the newest baker I was deferring to GYB expertise. He posted a new dough and I used it moving forward.

So sorry you're sick, get better soon. i had a really painful sinus condition earlier in the week. It was all i could think of for 3 days, but better now.

I can do baking class today, have got all the slides, etc. Will start a new thread in about an hour and post all the slides/vids up front. That way, anons can prep all the vids in advance.

Could probably do at least throw out some common questions on notables for new bakers to start a discussion.

New bakers i'm seeing are a hard-working lot who tend to produce many notables. So maybe the discussion would be on how to narrow the focus a little, so bakers doesn't run constantly. Also, how to stop when you need to even when there's no replacement baker. Last, how to deal with shills. It's a little different when you bake than when you anon.

So no worries, get better soon.

If anyone else wants to teach or present anything in particular lemme know. Or you can just show up and just wing it like always. If we have more bakers than anons for a while, we can talk about bakering stuff.

No worries about yesteday, baker. All is well. Nobody did anything wrong, we just gotta keeping working on good comms. Just goes with the territory coz we can't contact other bakers at will.

Now as far as today goes, and setting a pastebin to private, don't know much about that never did it. Bakers wouldn't do on purpose bc no other baker could pick up the bake–wouldn't just be you. Doc ain't gonna bake forever, so wouldn't make sense.

Possible that it might happen by mistake?

And what happened in the end?

Lot of shit happens around here, much of it based on temporary misunderstandings. Therefore much patience and forbearance are needed to bake. Also forgiveness for past mishaps.

Good to remember that we are not here for ourselves but for the work we do. When the focus is on that work, it's not so hard to leave the small stuff behind and keep moving forward.

Two things:

One, try to avoid getting triggered by every little thing, either from anons/shills or bakers.

Two, most differences can be overcome or ignored. If we can ignore what happened with FJ in the past, we can ignore baker differences.

Private pastebin thing - will try to see if i can understand, time's a little limited right now. No matter. Thanks for all your work, it is invaluable during a time when we have so little backup and so much going on.

Here is a clear concise explanation of today and why I did what I did.

I had just arrived (woke up) and finished checking notes at >>>/qresearch/8662680 the first thing I do now that I have started baking generally is check the dough to see if I know the baker. Immediately I see the private pastebin. I call out to baker about private pastebin, but receive no respone. The board is running terrible, major lag, huge spikes in between updates. I repost my call out all in red text to notify all anons and baker again about the private pastebin >>>/qresearch/8662736 still receive no response. Anons on shouting about notables not be added and there are no notables posted that I see. Again I make a call out >>>/qresearch/8662786 and announce that if I don't hear from baker about the private pastebin I will assume bake and get things fixed. Due to the LAG I was inclined to move fast so we didn't hit the EOB without any notes collected, no baker, and no pastebin.

The span of posts from initial notification was over 500 to when I baked the 2nd bread, wouldn't exactly call that jumping the gun. Doc logged into his pastebin account (would have taken 2 seconds to do and verify) only after baking new bread. I gave ample notification, I waited, and for the sanctity of the board and notables I don't think verifying who was actually baking and setting pastebins to private which would have seriously fucked everyone with the condition the board was in(lag) was to much to ask for. It amazes me, the person who stepped up to help when it appeared fuckery was afoot is the one everyone jumped on. My bakes are clean, my pastesbins are open and I never bake without my pastebin logged in so everyone can hold me accountable for my actions. That in my opinion comes with the territory of baking, if I fuck up call me, don't call me out when I am doing the right thing, and no amount of spin will convince me what I did this morning or yesterday was not the right thing.

I couldn't chime in on that as I can't even see pb. it's just blank all the time. Can't do hook tube either. It's got to do with the low speed connection. I can post text fast but not enough b'width to do the front ends of the bake quick enough. It would have big gaps between. Sometimes it is a challenge to get what I do in here and I really saw it when I traveled and saw how quick the uploads were from farther away.
