Has anyone heard of this before?

>According to witnesses and those who investigated the case, just a few minutes prior, Officer Duggan was taking a right hand turn from Winter Street onto Lowell St. A car being driven by William Rodriguez of Lowell nearly hit him, continuing toward Broadway and finally came to a stop at a red light at the next corner.

>Officer Tom Duggan, Sr. was on his way to court that afternoon and in civilian clothes. He was driving his own car when he pulled up behind Rodriguez and his girlfriend Doris Ortiz of Lawrence.

>Witnesses said Duggan got out of his car, identified himself as a police officer as he approached them, but before he could say anything more, Ortiz jumped out of the passengers side of the car and advanced on him, hitting and pushing him in the middle of Lowell Street.

>Within seconds, Rodriguez also jumped out of the car brandishing a metal softball bat. He advanced on Officer Duggan slapping the bat in his hand over and over.

>Because it was broad daylight, and on a busy downtown street where kids were walking home from school, and pedestrians were walking close by, Officer Duggan pulled out his gun and ordered Rodriguez to put down the bat while he backed up into a the vacant lot.

>Duggan matched every advancing step by the perpetrators with a step back, luring them away from from innocent bystanders and into the vacant lot in case he had to shoot his weapon.

>But as Duggan reached the edge of the lot, Ortiz jumped on him, grabbed at the gun, and held his hands, just long enough for Rodriguez to beat him in the head with the bat. As Rodriguez came down with the first blow to Duggan’s head, he fired his weapon, but the bullet only grazed the neck of Ortiz while Rodriguez began beating him repeatedly. Police would later learn that Duggan tried to fire again but his gun had jammed.

>Witnesses said that Rodriguez continued beating him even after he fPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

We all know MREs exist but they're full of preservatives and shit, nothing you really want in your body long term. If you were designing some on the go meal packages for a SHTF scenario what would you make?

Assume you have a week to prepare. You have access to any ingredients you can find in your local super market. You need to make a months worth of food or at least a breakfast and evening meal.

<Spaghetti and minced beef with cheese and tomatoes x 1 month is not a viable answer. You need multiple options

I am talking about combat situations in which soldiers or officers use morale as their main weapon. Or even use morale as their only weapon.

https://hooktube.com/watch?v=GrauBQf7FpI&pbjreload=10

So there have been occasions where, officers or even generals didnt take cover. I also heard that there has been at least one attack by the white army in the russian civil war, that was basicly a march towards the red army position by the white army.

They went in marching formation and decoracted uniforms which caused the reds to simply surrender or run away.

Does anybody know something about this? I couldnt find anything myself.

Or any other compareable battle.

It's armor, actually: The onsie suits are called Tlahuiztl, they were made of a base layer of padded armor (basically gambeson; the Tlahuitzli was itself worn over a more basic tunic/vest of padded armor called Ichcahuipilli (first image), which was also used by mid ranking soldiers by itself who hadn't earned the Tlahuitzli) which was then covered in many thousands of feathers, arranged based on colors to form patterns such as jaguar spots, geometric designs, etc, the different colors and designs signifying rank and unit division. You see the same feather mosiac technique used on various other things such as Ehuatl (see second image, another form of armor, basically a tunic version of Tlahuitzli usually worn by commanders and royalty and was more ceremonial, though non-Mexica nahua groups like the Tlaxcalateca seemed to use it more liberally) shields (3rd image; these were usually a cane/reed or hardwood backing with then padded/gambeson body, and then the feather mosiac front, sometimes with copper/bronze/gold ornamentation and a leather strip or feather fringe along the bottom, similar to what you see as waist protection in some greco-roman stuff) , the helmets (the animal ones were hardwood with then the feather mosiac/precious stone/gold/copper/bronze ornmentation; 4th image; some of the more hat-esque helmets were probably (this is my guess, i'm not sure) a wood or reed frame with padding and feather mosiac like the shields), other Aztec art, and it was used in the colional period to make "paintings" using catholic imagery, such as seen here (5th image)

Happy to post more images of stuff/higher res versions on request btw

It's "mysterious" mainly just because most people aren't educated on it. We know a lot more then most people realize: It's true that the Spanish mass burned their libraries and texts which leads to us having much less surviving sources then what we might otherwise have, but there's still hundreds of colional era document both in Spanish and Nahuatl talking about Aztec history and society down to pretty specific detail: Sahagun's historyPost too long. Piper Daniel Laidlaw

http://www.pipesofwar.com/piper-of-loos/history.php

>The men of the 7th Kings Own Scottish Borderers (K.S.O.B.) were under heavy shell fire the morning of Spetember 25, 1915. If that was not enough to unnerve the soldiers, a cloud of poison gas began to drift over their posistion. A few of the men began to cough and choke and many sucumbed rappidly to the effects of the gas. The remainder were shaken by the disturbing image they saw. The commanding officer glanced over the scene as saw Laidlaw standing with his pipes waiting orders to go ‘over the top.’

>“Pipe them together, Laidlaw, for God’s sake, pipe them together,” cried the commanding officer.

>Immediately Laidlaw climbed onto the parapet and began marching up and down the length of the trench. Bullets whizzed past him, shells burst near him, but oblivious to the danger he played, “All the Blue Bonnets Over the Border.” The effect it had on his company was almost magical. Seeing the men take courage, the commading officer gave the order to advance and shouted, “Come on, Borderers, who’ll be the first to reach the German trenches?”

TL:DR: Scotsman got so angry he charged the Germans with just his bagpipes.

I'll start.

Some people, not just on imageboards, but behind the counter at gun stores, have some odd preconceptions about proper defensive armament for people other than the baseline user--that is, people other than adult males with normal hand size, grip strength, and upper body strength.

"What the little lady here needs is an airweight Taurus .38 snubby! Look, this one's pink!" Yeah, she'll love it. Until she takes it to the range and fires it once and the recoil jolts the fillings out of her teeth.

Let me preface what I'm about to say by saying that this is a moral pronouncement I'm about to make, rather than a demand for change of laws. I'm speaking in terms of changes I'd like to see in the gun culture and what we do or don't approve of or endorse when we see it. Ready?

There are people out there who choose a self-defense firearm because it's pink, because it weighs almost nothing (unloaded, natch), because it comes with a laser. Yes, almost all of these people are women. You know what? They aren't serious about self-defense and they aren't going to train. They aren't comfortable with or at peace with the idea that they just might find themselves fighting for their lives in a supermarket parking lot and they're not comfortable with the idea of killing. They're not going to build any kind of proficiency, they're not going to go to the range at all, they're not going to train. And when they see that knife in Tyrone's hand, they're going to hesitate, and predators can smell fear. And Tyrone's gonna get himself a brand new gun along with her purse, right after he strangles her with her own stockings and rapes her corpse. This is not a desirable outcome, for a number of reasons, not least of which is that I don't want to be the first one Tyrone shoots with his new toy.

I don't understand this mindset. A gun is not a fucking good luck charm. It's not a magic wand that makes bad people stop what they're doing and go away and leave you alone. It's a tool that you just might have to use to fight for your life. If that happens you're betting your life and the lives of the people around you on your choice of weapPost too long. This is going well.

I'll try another--shorter this time.

Jeff Cooper is underrated.

You can love or hate the Weaver Stance. You can ridicule his stance on handgun effectiveness and his preference for calibers that begin with a "4," though it was formed long before the advent of modern hollowpoint bullet ammunition. You can despise him for his affection for the 1911A1, even though it was cutting-edge tech early in the last century, when his experiences formed his opinions.

You can't deny, though, that when you take his teachings and training down to base, he is saying:

"Use both hands to shoot. Point-shooting is a way to make noise quickly. Fast aimed fire is the one true viable way to use a handgun past contact distance. Some bullets are better than others so use the best you have access to. Train, so that you will be faster and more accurate than the guy who's trying to kill you."

…this is what everybody, everywhere, is doing today. Do you use a compact red-dot on your carry gun? I presume you're aiming. Are you shooting Isosceles instead of Weaver? You're using both hands. Are you training, instead of being lazy and figuring you're "good enuff?" That's what he said to do. Is your carry gun a Glock 19 with hollowpoints? He felt 9mm was lacking--with the duty ammo that existed in 1940. He didn't like Glock triggers, but nobody's enthusiastic about them and even Glock acknowledged this with the design changes in the Gen 5 to improve the trigger.

All the cool kids hate Jeff Cooper but all the cool kids are following right along with about 85% of what he taught.

Bullets with mild steel jackets are not uncommon, though usually with a very thin copper "flash plating" that protects them from corrosion and acts as a thin-film lubricant as they are forced down the bore. Especially with the Russian export ammo that is sold under so many brand names.

A solid steel bullet would be more difficult, from an engineering perspective. Pressures would run up to extreme, possibly unsafe levels when the bullet reached the rifling if it was not made of a material soft enough for the rifling to engrave. Also, at least in the US, there might be legal problems with "armor piercing ammunition."

Honestly, there isn't such issues with offgassing or scarring, the leaf is a fucking imbecile and knows literally nothing. The main issue with superglue is most injuries need to be disinfected, and usually for bigger ones, need to be cleaned out somewhat regularly (which your body naturally does, so it's not needed to reopen and reclean unless it becomes infected). As >>685044 points out, superglueing a wound means you can't reaccess it without removing the glue. You're also blocking the surrounding area from receiving oxygen, which will cause the surrounding area to die, and is a great way to promote bacterial growth ie: isn't very sterile.

What I recommend to anyone who plans on backpacking or going innawoods, is to get a small botte of providone iodine, and keep it in a medical pack. iodine can be used to disinfect when diluted in clean clear water, can be used for dressing wounds, as it's a germicide in a 10% concentration, and can be used to purify drinking water (one drop per quart of clear water, 10 drops for cloudy water according to my bottle).

Pair the iodine up with a small syringe to flush any deep wounds out with. You'll have to flush it multiple times to ensure it's been properly disinfected, and make sure you check the wound cavity for any foreign objects and remove them with tweezers. Most of the time a bandaid or gauze pad is recommended for cuts. Superglue really only shines when your cut is smaller, and in an area without much flexion. It's handy, but really only in a way that allows you to save your better first aid supplies for more serious injuries. It also peels off easy enough in a few hours after applying, so it's not like it's necessarily hard to remove once it's on.

Stitching is pretty easy to learn, and something I recommend if you plan on being a woodsman. Fishing line and a needle take up no space, and can be used for multiple things. Just make sure you disinfect them first if doing sutures.

>IIRC CPR is 40% as effective as regular heartbeats though

I don't know about exact numbers, but if the choice is between 40% and 0%, I know which one most people would prefer. CPR doesn't fix anything, it just prevents damage until you can zap them.

I am deeply concerned with the information in this thread

this shit is just straight up wrong.

Medical care is given IN CONTEXT, there is no single procedure for an injury

For example if someone comes in with an infected cut.

A. Assess the patients general state, is what they tell you going to be reliable?

B. Is this the only injury? fucking ask. If the answer to A is "no" you may have to manually asses the casualty for secondary injury, this is why doctors are always doing blood pressure checks etc.

Casualties may and often do have injuries unrelated to the one they are seeking treatment for which may also be significant or complicate primary care.

C. how best to approach treatment?

Often the answer is "take them somewhere else where it can be done better".

So you took out a bullet out in the field, where is the patient going to recover where treatment is still available if there are complications?

D. search for other casualties. Don't send one casualty to hospital and have a second casualty appear.

This. CPR is a stop gap measure because people start dying very quickly if they don't have oxygen to the brain. Just keep in mind that if you have to start pumping, you'll probably have to manually fill their lungs. They make special disposable masks for this that are dirt cheap, and you're going to want one when the vomiting occurs.

The vomiting ALWAYS occurs. Be prepared for cracking/breaking rib sounds as well.

My god, were back.

And its all together too, fantastic. How are you all? Hope you all had an eventful year.

Im very sorry about me not being here, i literally didnt know 8chan (or kun as it is now known) was even alive, when 8ch went i simply stopped using imageboards and spent the time and instead went back to normie stuff like helping NSW gun laws and helping with the shooting ranges.

One of the big changes here in NSW and the biggest shooting club SSAA NSW/Sydney Branch is that the Fudds are slowly leaving and becoming a minority as thanks to so many young people and returning older people (The ones who had to hand back old guns and are still angry about it) coming back and forcing changes here in the state and club is good, not to mention Sydney Branch may have a huge new proper Hunting club attached to it to get the thousands of people who want to try hunting out into the bush, myself and loads of others have since offered to volunteer with the club, not to mention nearly all the proper range officers wanna help out too. Big things happening which is fantastic.

From the looks of things, so far everything seems to be working as well as .pdfs survived the transfer which is a feat itself. i missed you gay cunts, seriously.

Other then that, hows your life going friends?

>Yes, Russia will engage in a nuclear war with the United States over Iran. Definitely.

World wars have been started over shitholes like Serbia, Belgium and Poland and they don't even had oil or any other valuable resources.

The fighting just has to start and become so heated, that both sides think they have to win or they will ultimately l start the beginning of their end and things will cascade from there.

What would happen, if the USA/Israel tries to invade Iran and Russia sends troops to help defend it? Will the fighting remain in Iran or will they try to hit Russia? Once they hit Russia directly, the Russians will answer, not automatically with nukes but with a sizable act to save their face. Once this has been done, a stand off between the two will start just like during the Cold War and then just one side needs to lose their cool somewhere and the whole shitshow starts.

I didn't see any kind of AR General thread so I figured I'd make one. Also wasn't aware of a copypasta info either.

I'm making this thread to discuss configuration, accessories, paint, ballistics, brands and whatever else relates to the assembly, use, and culture of Stoner's magnificent rifle.

AR-10 discussion also welcome.

So I'm trying to make a list of AR manufacturers/companies to research buying from should I decide to buy/build a couple more rifles. What are some of your guys' thoughts on a sample of my considerations?

>Aero Precision

Always hear great things about them and their ARs being not only affordable for budget-minded people, but also having quality parts compared to PSA or Anderson.

>Palmetto State Armory

Constant sales and deals being offered are how their ARs are able to be built for $500 or under but I hear their QC is a lil lacking and their customer service can be an absolute nightmare to walk through.

>Anderson Manufacturing

Similar to PSA's price-points but I hear about 50% good things & "just as good" talk with 50% of out-of-spec nightmares or simple blemishes/machine marks.

>Bravo Company Mod

Absolutely a great brand to also get quality parts just more expensive past Aero Precision stuff.

If you're looking to build one from scratch and are willing to invest in the tools to assemble it yourself just know that it's pretty damn hard to build a bad rifle from a good barrel and a good BCG. If you're going to spend too much money on any parts, make it those. I usually recommend the SOLGW BCG to frands building new ARs.

>Aero Precision

I've never handled one of their full rifles before, but their blem lowers are the best deal in well-made stripped lowers imo.

>Palmetto State Armory

80% shot you're getting a great rifle that will last tens of thousands of rounds, but they still don't understand how deep they're supposed to stake castle nuts and gas keys, plus they like putting carbine buffers in their rifles when the only reason to do that over an 'H' is to save $10 on the manufacturer's end. That being said they will replace most shit that breaks prematurely.

>Anderson Manufacturing

I've seen some goddamn nightmares out of Anderson manufacturing with out-of-spec trigger pins on their lowers. No reason to get them when better options are only slightly more expensive.

>BCM

I get all my ARs from them thanks to their punctilious QC and barrel profiles. They understand that the primary advantage of the AR-15 over other modern rifle designs is its light weight and soft recoil so they optimize the hell out of their barrel/handguards and drill the gas port properly relative to buffer weight/spring weight. Their 16" ELW rifle comes in at 5.8lbs and handles beautifully. My 11.5" ELW pistol despite having a red dot and a 1000 lumen scout light hanging off the end still balances at the magwell and is only a few ounces over 6lbs. Plus little details like using sprinco extractor springs and how soft the machining on their handguards are, whereas some of the cheaper ones like palmetto's can be a bit sharp.

You might want to look at ALG as well, I get my LPKs from them when they go on sale and they're all super super slick and positive. You'd think trigger pins aPost too long. Click here to view the full text.
