File: 2685859a9de5f3d⋯.mp4 (6.24 MB,640x360,16:9,Horatius at the Bridge.mp4)

dce7a9 No.670610 [Open thread][Last50 Posts]

Post and discuss your favorite military tunes, cowboy ballads, etc etc. To also include poems, like it says on the tin.

https://www.thoughtco.com/horatius-at-the-bridge-4070724

Another favorite excerpt of mine from 'Horatius at the Bridge' to go with the webm:

With shield and blade Horatius right deftly turned the blow.

The blow, yet turned, came yet too nigh;

It missed his helm, but gashed his thigh:

The Tuscans raised a joyful cry to see the red blood flow.

He reeled, and on Herminius he leaned one breathing-space;

Then, like a wild-cat mad with wounds, sprang right at Astur's face.

Through teeth, and skull, and helmet so fierce a thrust he sped,

The good sword stood a hand-breadth out behind the Tuscan's head.

And the great Lord of Luna fell at that deadly stroke,

As falls on Mount Alvernus a thunder-smited oak.

Far o'er the crashing forest the giant arms lay spread;

And the pale augurs, muttering low, gaze on the blasted head.

On Astur's throat Horatius right firmly pressed his heel,

And thrice and four times tugged amain, ere he wrenched out the steel.

"And see," he cried, "the welcome, fair guests, that waits you here!

What noble Lucumo comes next to taste our Roman cheer?"

But at his haughty challenge a sullen murmur ran,

Mingled of wrath, and shame, and dread, along that glittering van.

Oh my rosemary, keep blooming!

Oh my rosemary, keep blooming!

I will go to my girl, I will go to my one and only

I will ask her. 2x

And if she answers me: I don't love you!

And if she answers me: I don't love you!

Uhlans are recruiting, shooters are marching

I will enlist. 2x

They'll give me boots with spurs

They'll give me boots with spurs

And a grey overcoat and a grey overcoat

With lapels. 2x

They'll give me a chestnut horse

They'll give me a chestnut horse

And a sharp sabre and a sharp sabre

At my side. 2x

They'll give me a canteen with booze

They'll give me a canteen with booze

So I won't miss, so I won't miss

My girl. 2x

They'll lead me from trenches on bayonets

They'll lead me from trenches on bayonets

Bayonet will pierce me, death will kiss me

But not you… 2x

My Ummah, Dawn Has Appeared

https://vimeo.com/180404451

[Chorus 1]

My ummah, dawn has appeared

So await the expected victory

The Islamic State has arisen

By the blood of the righteous

[x2]

[Verse 1]

The Islamic State has arisen

By the jihad of the pious

They have offered their souls

In righteousness, with constancy and conviction

[x2]

So that the religion may be established

In which there is the law of the Lord of the Worlds

[Chorus 2]

My ummah, accept the good news

And don't despair - victory is near

The Islamic State has arisen

And the dreaded might has begun

[x2]

[Verse 2]

It has arisen, tracing out glory

And the period of setting has ended

By faithful men who do not fear warfare

[x2]

They have created eternal glory

That will not perish or disappear

[Chorus 3]

My ummah, God is our Lord

So grant your blood

For victory will not return

Except by the blood of the martyrs

[x2]

[Verse 3]

Who have spent their time hoping for the Lord

In the abode of the Prophets

They have offered their souls to God

And for their religion there is self-sacrifice

Keep in mind you're responding to someone who is a big enough hypocrite that he couldn't handle people "making blanket statements", only to then be comfortable enough in making blanket statements himself in turn, when he himself came under fire.

Even though you weren't there, it assumably wasn't storming since that wasn't mentioned, it materialized indoors, and we know almost nothing about the phenomenon you claim that it was (the supposed behaviour of ball lightning is so variable and has been so sparsely observed, on what basis was it concluded that it's even the same phenomenon?) it was DEFINITELY ball lightning.

IFLSciencefags are pathetic, why not just say she was a drunk who actually saw an owl, you've got about as much basis for that. Literally the only evidence that ball lightning acts like these accounts is "skeptics" hearing about them and saying "that's ball lightning".

In an SHTF/Insurgent-type scenario, how effective would it for Insurgents to be travelling through sewage lines to avoid police/military above? I'd imagine that if you're able to map out the sewage lines you can do all sorts of hit-and-run guerrilla shit without anybody noticing your movements. I'd also imagine it'd be hard to track where you've been considering you're trudging through shit and piss the entire time.

No. A sewer in a neighboring city away from the AO might be a good hideaway for a couple weeks at best with the right prep, hazard equipment, and good ventilation, but the problem is that sewers are city networks for waste. Entry points and routes are mapped out and the information would be easily accessible to LE and Military. Not only are your methods of escape already functioning as kill holes, you could probably pinpoint where the best entry/exit points are. If anyone even has an inkling you are hiding down there, its over. You’re fucked. And you’ve got to ask yourself, you want to bite the bullet in a place of rivers of shit, used needles, rats, and other nasty things?

Tunneling worked (questionably.) for the vietcong because noone knew where the fuck they were, and if you did find out, you didn’t really want to see how far that rabbit hole went down pun intended. Pitfalls, punji sticks, secret compartments for soldiers to hide in, tunnels that looped in on themselves. Absolutely no way to map it out or go into it knowing what you were getting into. Tunnel rats will tell you that those things are made specifically to be cruel, ruthless, and effective. However, I said questionably because its not like its easy living in one of those things either, the Vietcong found themselves dealing with intestinal parasites, rats, and just the general fucking depression of living in a hole in the ground that might collapse if GI decides he wants to drop a few HE shells on top of your fucking head.

Overall, I’d have to tell you its an awful idea. The best means of Guerilla Warfare is plainclothes operations. You need to be able to do your dirt and then blend right back in as a civilian. 9/11, the only US mainland attack of that scale since the civil war was done this way. If Vietnam and Afghanistan have taught us anything, you can’t fight an invisible enemy.

>you can’t fight an invisible enemy.

You can't fight the invisible, no. You can do however is remove their invisibility by getting rid of all your moral restrictions. Kill ALL the civilians. Bomb the cities until all that remains is bricks. Then bomb the bricks down to ashes. Shoot civilian cars until they loo like swiss cheese. Burn every forest and bomb every cave entrance. Pollute every single river and lake with horrible dangerous chemicals. Anyone who doesn't wear your uniform is to be considered an enemy and be killed on sight.

You're god damn America. Literally who on this planet could ever stop you from committing muh war crimes? You're the ones who are supposed to enforce them in the first place. The moment you stop caring about some pussy laws is the moment you can fight whoever the hell you want using whatever means you want. Who's going to stop you, the pussy european armies on low manpower, 0 combat experience and who have sold 70% of their weapons to shitskins? Russia will cross the ocean and land on your beaches? Or will the chink bugmen dare become enemies with the country that provides them with >80% of their iron ore needs because without it their factories can't operate?

I used the underground system extensively in the past.

As an initial response to a curfew or martial law its a great strategy.

Also a decent place to cache supplies, but they will be found by maintainance

Don't expect to go anywhere fast, if you're detected going in there's really nowhere in a tunnel to hide.

There's more down there than you might imagine.

Sewer systems, water systems, IT infrastructure, maintainance areas for underground heating or power systems

Dangers depend on how modern your system is.

Downing, falls, bad air are common.

Floods, noxious substances, animals, homeless, syringes, getting lost all reasonably possible.

Motion sensors, electrical hazzards, poison gas may be encountered occasionally.

I would use a storm water drain to move overnight to a cache site, or a staging ground where you can create a diversion

Even though both Russia and China have a plethora of mineral resources and rare metals at their disposal they seem to lag behind the west (even the UK) at least two and three decades respectively in jet engine technology when Russia had even surpassed the West in certain aeronautic technology areas in the previous decades. In the case of China I can see the reason why (pic related) and it's easy to see why the West is so ahead in terms of avionics/electronics given its commercial colossi in even civil applications but in terms of material science it's seemingly inexcusable for the owners of the Siberian treasurebeds and successor of USSR, the largest heavy industrial power in history to be so easily surpassed by even dependent eurocuck vassals of America.

Even some faggot with a blade is gonna think twice so long as you keep your distance Miss my cheap ass automatic baton, worked like a charm and you could put out a chinamans eye with it. Even expensive ones from walther, ASP etc. bend and break eventually if you actually have to use em. Blimps don't require $1M/kg for every 10km of altitude. You just fill a baloon with hydrogen and have them fly at double an airliner's maximum altitude, which is way above the maximum altitude for the vast majority of SAMs, especially easily transportable ones like MANPADs. Let's discuss what went wrong and why it was everything.

Was the Schlieffenplan a conceptual mistake?

Would a defensive stance against the French in Elsass-Lothringen coupled with Prussian maneuver warfare autism against the Russian Empire in the east have been a better plan, especially considering the eternal Anglo wouldn't have immediately closed all the shipping lanes with Belgium being uninvolved?

And if the Central Powers managed to somehow win, wouldn't (((they))) be apt to choose Germany as their primary European base of Operations for enacting their subversive master plans?

The German Empire did harbor plenty of Juden at the time.

Ports, factories and, of course, cities.

>If you tried doing that with, say, New York, you'd ruin what makes the city a strategic point in the first place

New York, just like most western cities, has disgusting modern nu-architecture. Blowing it up would be a good thing. The only thing that makes cities strategic is their ability to protect your troops in underground basements and slaughter the enemy if he dares enter. Wealth has nothing to do with it.

>Was the Schlieffenplan a conceptual mistake?

Calling the Schlieffenplan a mistake is just English propaganda that is repeated because the UK is still butthurt over the effect it had on them. It didn't help Germany win the Western Front, but it was a huge political success for the German Empire and made war easier for them. There was only one true way for France or Germany to attack each other and that was through the Low Countries, because all the other paths have mountains in the way. Historically the Low Countries were always the battlefield between armys that moved between west and central Europe. Belgium claimed to be neutral, but its geopolitical situation made it an ally of Great Britain, for both a French victory would be as bad as a German victory. German military planners knew that, they also knew of a secret treaty between Great Britian and France against Germany. So there was a threat of an French attack through Belgium against Germany, with limited hidden support by Belgium and Great Britian. It is also important to notice that historically neutrality in Europe allows for the passage of troops through the neutral country. By attacking France through Belgium, the German Empire would be provocative in terms of real politic, but officially they would not violate Belgian neutrality if they don't attack the Belgians directly.

So from a German point of view the Schlieffenplan could either go as planned and they have to deal with Great Britian and Belgium after they have defeated France, which would be a problem because the Belgians and British could cut off the supply to German troops inside France or it would force Great Britian and Belgium to make their hostility to Germany public. This would force their armies into an open land battle with the German Army, which the German military planners saw as possible and they almost did it before the USA intervened. Either way win win for Germany.

Meanwhile for the British the Schlieffenplan forced them to decide to either tolerate German supremacy over continental Europe or throw their army, which predominantly existed of expeditionary forces, into the meat grinder with the land army of a major continental power. You're thinking of Séré de Rivières and Brialmont, the last Vauban forts were deactivated around the 1880s.

>>687934

Traditional walled forts are obsolete, but something like a modern-day Maginot Line would probably be really effective if the terrain allows for it. If nothing else they'd slow down the enemy's initial advance by a few days, which gives the defenders some much-needed time to prepare.

You are forgetting the type of conflict we are talking about. If modern, western cities come under attack by an organized military force, then we must assume that a major war is taking place, thus eliminating any economic prowess of a city in a flash.

Also, there are a lot more things of strategic value than cities, like major road/rail-lines, power plants, dams, manufacturing plants, oil refineries or oil fields, just to name a few at the top of my head.

I am not saying a fortress would have to be city sized, but that Grozny could be an example of a modern interpretation of a fortress.

If you re-read my post, I recommended something like the Maginot line on steroids, maybe twice its depth which would make any country doing that look like even more of a chump than the French with their OG one.

I was also explicitly stating that one would not need to fortify a city like Vauban, but rather use the existing city itself, like Mogadishu or Grozny.

I get the distinct impression you are willfully misreading my post to make your own point.

Come on, mang.

This image is almost 2 years old. It has aged fairly well (compared to its predecessor), but there's stuff that needs an updating, primarily due to some really good new options having come out. I'd like to do a new version when the new Hi-Point comes out and has had a month or so to make sure it's not somehow worse than its predecessor

>add Ruger EC9s, M&P Shield 2.0 (mention original can be found for 50 bucks less) and CCP2, drop Kel-tec and/or SCCY

>ETS QC is slipping, drop them from recomended mags

>drop Surefirewaytogivemoney to anti 2A politicans from light recommendations

>clear quislings from recommended Youtube list

Anything else to change or add? Thinking maybe Hi-Point carbine as a long arm, but it uses Hi-Point mags which I've heard really bad things about (and mag malfunctions are ones that racking the charging handle/slide isn't going to fix, which really sucks). Thoughts on that?

I think a good edition would be the SAS-12. $150 magfed semiauto shotgun. At first glance it's shitty-tolerance chink garbage, which it is, but it takes very minimum work to get running smoothly (just takes polishing the action and maybe cleaning out some leftover burrs, and there's tons of videos on jewtube detailing where to look). And still if you don't want to do that, just buy hot target ammo - personal anecdote says Winchester Super-X & Winchester AA Super-Handicap cycled perfectly even without doing the aforementioned things. I think it's a solid budget shotgun that is fairly underappreciated

If you live in a country with reasonable gun laws, .410 is only really useful for hunting small game. You could use slugs or 000 buck for medium game or HD if you really had to, but at that point you'd be much better off just getting a 20ga.

The other big application is for countries with shit-tier gun laws where centerfire rifles or large-caliber handguns are hard to get, so a .410 is the closest they can get to an actually useful caliber.

Are there any blueprints for pistols that can be folded in half, just like you can fold the grip of machine pistols sometimes. I am looking for a design where even the pistol itself can be folded, so that it can be carried in a very compact form. Is it even possible to fold the barrel, or would inserting a hinge result in a loss of functionality? I think a pistol that can be folded to max 15cm would be ideal. Preferrably, it is folded so that length and width are minimal (staying flat, not bloating all 3 dimensions). This would make it fit into clothing pockets much better.

Any votes for Bronze?

the NAA mini is actually pretty fucking good but I would recommend the 1 5/8 barrel over the 1 1/8, and .22lr over short or magnum. I've been tempted to get a 6 inch barrel or however long the really long ones are as well. the 1 1/8 is a melee weapon, it's pretty bad. I would like to see it firing in slow motion because I dont understand where the bullets go at point blank range firing from a rest, do they take 90 deg turns?

>area range of 30ft, point target of 10ft

>single-shot

>compact

>low failure rate

the zip gun is worse because they market it as a fully functional gun and it has the tag to match, the ZIP .22 will fail to fire, misfire, fail to feed, and fail to eject. there is nothing that can be done to improve it because its very concept is trash. the life card is meant to be fired maybe 5 times in a close range and not be conspicuous. the derringer is more of a problem child than the life card. the biggest downer of the life card is the price and the criticism of the latching mechanism, but the truth is the latch is and never has been a problem, if it is its because you jammed gunk down into the gun and don't clean the SOB.

the NAA mini looks nice and is 1up a derringer because of that trigger cover. the WMR has a similar ballistic to a 9mm, which makes it a good replacement for the good old .357 S&W snub as the daddy's girl gun. its smaller, has less recoil, and has a built in safety to prevent misfire or more precisely does't misfire if dropped the wrong way.

based on this the life card is something that appeals more for men, because it doesn't look like a gun to the casual observer, so people won't accuse him of carrying and start a fight without reason. to clarify the life card is superior because in plane sight it isn't obvious it is a weapon, only when it needs to be will it take form.

The shitlib approach involves banning guns. Ergo, we should ban anything with pointy objects because that would stop more tragedies like 9/11 from happening. Maybe if they weren’t able to get their hands on those pesky assault boxcutters with fully automatic blade action to kill all those pilots, passengers and flight attendants, then they wouldn’t have been able to hijack those planes. Because that would’ve stopped 9/11 from happening. Even though inmates still make shanks and shivs out of seemingly innocuous items like jolly ranchers, this ban will at least deter people from killing each other. Why would you need a boxcutter unless you wanted to kill somebody?

But on a serious note, does anyone have any statistics about gun control anywhere? I know that the homicide rate in America is 5.30 per 100,000 people, which is similar to that of Eastern Europe. Surprisingly low, given the amount of blacks and Mexicans who live here. In Switzerland, the murder rate is even lower at 0.50. New Zealand’s murder rate is 0.70, and Israel’s murder rate is 1.36. So in other words, a country with lax civilian gun ownership laws is no more likely to have a higher murder rate than a country with strict civilian gun ownership laws. I’ve also read from somewhere that there is no statistical correlation between gun ownership and gun crime amongst whites and that it was only true among negroes. Does anyone have that by any chance?
