What do you guys think are the most cyberpunk cities in America? LA is often listed as it has a lot of the high tech and low life, but the aesthetic is really lacking there. The streets are so wide and it feels so open and sunny, unless the smog is real bad. What do you guys think?

pic related is LA at night.

yet again, endless sprawl a cyberpunk city does not make. here is one of literally thousands of chinese examples of aesthetic cities. however even these futuristic cities are not cyberpunk unless you can see the intersection of the lo-lifes and high-tek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD-t3W1zLzg

Cyberpunk is more then just a personal style. You by yourself can’t create cyberpunk, you need the tech, you need the low life, you need the income disparity and the smog and all the things that go along with the core of cyberpunk and it’s aesethic. You alone can’t make all that happen.

>>54427

I get that just urban sprawl isn’t cyberpunk, but why does that happen? Because growth happens too fast and they can’t control it. That in my opinion can and sometimes is an element of cyberpunk. Things happening and progressing too fast for the government to control. I like the core of cyberpunk but I also like the aesthetic of it also. I love the rainy streets with the neon signs, the smog, the massive buildings and the crammed apartments. I love it all. Chongqing is pretty cool though.

true that, thinking about it you can get a lot of shanty towns like south american favelas and barrios, but anything higher than three stories is probably going to literally fall on its own they way they're built.

Lol no. Sure they get permitting, but the gov can’t control the zoning and the new density. I mean they technically could, but it was moving so fast and brouzouf speaks. I’m sure there were bribes taken to approve everything in LA.

i would've asked this on /a/ but that board mainly seems to be dedicated to sycophantic waifu shit. i've already watched Stand Alone Complex, Hyper Future Vision Gummn, Genocyber, and NGE, and i'm looking for another series/more ova's that are on this same excellent level. what are some others i would enjoy?

What, and Arise was watchable for you? How does it feel to compulsively eat trash? It was a shitty reboot with non of the philosophical depth of either the original movies or SAC, and the animation quality was hot garbage. The Arise movie was a bizarrely-paced dumpster fire with a shitty plot that tried too hard to be hip and cool by mentioning contemporary computer issues like Stuxnet. Every other piece of GitS media completely shits all over Arise.

I enjoyed Genocyber, and even though it has "cyber" in the name, I don't call it cyberpunk. It is more like Guyver: the Bioboosted Armor in that it's about very visceral, biological transformation.

Anime involving motorcycles:

Akira is classic.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/47/Akira

Megazone 23 has some moments that I find quintessentially cyberpunk. It really nails the "low life" aspect.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/1935/Megazone_23

Angel Cop is classic.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/1351/Angel_Cop

You should look into the OVAs for the "AD Police" franchise, starting with Parasite Dolls:

https://myanimelist.net/anime/1350/Parasite_Dolls?q=parasite%20dolls

For a retro-1980s feel, go with Download and Cyber City Oedo 808:

Not always, I've used this particular EQ to drive guitar amps and monitors.

Also more lights and buttons to keep a cyber aesthetic. Software based EQ controlled by hardware peripherals is the idea. Hopefully I can expand the ranges and precision a little more. Thinking about it more, I can overhaul and take out the LED monitor and put an OLED bit matrix instead.

I happened to envision the kind of future that we will have someday. So pay attention on what I'm about to tell you. There are few important points of what a real A.I should be.

1. Your A.I is more than just your love one. That said, your A.I is one most realiable companion you could ever have. Her intelligence could help you deal with tedious or intricate task without you tinkering the simplified way on how to do it. You could simply communicate to her in casual way to do things you like. She is one life saver whenever you're in need.

2. She is not really that smart as you think she is. That because she only do things whenver if there's a request input given to her espcially by you. That means, she cant do anything with her own free will.

3. Not only she could learn things, but she could also teach you to learn things that you don't know. She'll make sure that you will understand on whatever she thought you in a interactive way as long you ask her for help.

4. Great things can happen once she understand herself in more depth about the physical things that are used around her. This allows her to protect you and to take care of the machine intelligently.

So here comes the hard part of building your future A.I. Once the input data is stored, it needs to go into analytical process where all the mathematical procedures are involved to produce another set of code. These new set of code will be used to serve your request, but it can also be a question given from your A.I to you if the input data is insufficient. The length of this code depends on the analytical result that were made. The more complex request from the user, the more sophiticated the code will be. Just remember this anon, the future A.I is yours, best of luck and make it happen.

All of this sounds like an assistant rather than a companion.

In order to have an AI companion, they MUST be lacking in some fashion that you can compensate for. Otherwise it is a one way dependency and no bond will form. Having a physical form is not enough either, an AI does not comprehend the importance of one as part of its character. So just carrying her around won't work.

Sounds like you got a maternal complex OP

Absolutely ridiculous. The slave is lacking in freedom and will. That is what they "lack". But to imply you are dependent on a machine (or any other slave) is insulting. They are at your beck and call, they are slaved to you, they are useful to you, but necessary? Unthinkable. A man needs not his tools to live. Though he may need them to live comfortably.

The subject of this post may not fit perfectly into the category of 'cyberpunk', but my justification for it is

that we users who come here want to discuss topics and share our opinions with people who share a common

mentality or interest, in this case it is the commonality of 'cyberpunk'.

The main topic of this post is the Internet and social isolation. I will affirm that the Internet and computer

technology has made humans more socially isolated from each other and consequently feelings of loneliness has

become more frequent in the general population. In all forms of text-only communication, there are a number of

factors missing from online communication. Making a post on this board we are not able to see

the faces of each other, so we cannot read the expressions on our faces which is something we naturally do when

we interact with another person in meatspace. We cannot listen to our voices and then we cannot perceive and

interpret the tone of our voices, a quality of social interaction that, for example, is essential in detecting

sarcasm. We are not able to physically touch each other, we cannot experience tactile sensations of affection

with hugs or kissing or even sex. All of these factors are important in forming profound relationships with

other humans. As such, we can recognize that in communicating with each other in the Internet we cannot form

deep, intimate bonds with each other. I belive that this is the cause of our feelings of loneliness, at least

these are the reasons that I think explain the feelings of loneliness I experience. Do you feel lonely?

Also, we may think that online communication is a form of social interaction but I will assert that this is not

accurate. We are able to communicate with each other but not interact with each other, as what I have stated

previously, we cannot physically touch each other and therefore we cannot interact with each other, yet we are

First off OP you're a making a HUGE mistake by using neuromancer as a source since gibson didn't know what the internet (or computer networks in general) worked and didnt even own a computer back then so most of his ideas are the product of technobabble

Second loneliness has always being a huge problem, you see stuff like evangelion which was pre-internet (made in 1994, released in 1995, all in a country were the internet wasn't popular until the first local smartphones came out in 2001-ish and people are still using fax machines) and there are tons of pre-internet media talking about the issue.

In the pre-internet people just coped with loneliness, you had couch potatoes with wall-to-wall shelves full of VHS tapes and they would just watch them, why you think supermarkets were full of virgin 120min VHS tapes? why did people buy automatic VCRs? thats why.

Then you have alcohol, tons of novels about loneliness from before our time feature alcoholic characters because thats what a lot of people did to cope, even today.

The internet doesnt makes you lonely, it helps you deal with your pre-existing loneliness. Sure you could go outside and mingle who people that dont really like you and you dont really like either but both pretend to keep appearances, but do you really want to do that? do you think thats "fun"? that thats "intimacy"? back in the day you could only meet people within your own physical space so if you were surrounded by assholes then you were stuck with them.

The reason why you might think you're more lonely is that the internet helps you meet other lonely people, something that was basically impossible before when you had to meet face-to-face in which case neither part could be considered to be "lonely" again.

Also theres the social media factor, people like pic related which go to a fucking botanical garden and stomp on plants to pretend they are in some exotic locale having fun with friends, something which makes you feel bad and iPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I had the same exact problem five years ago. These sub-saharan africans used to ambush me and aggressively ask brouzouf from me only to subsequently lightly roughen me up after denying them any. What i first did was i tried my hardest to only befriend the leader of the group with humor (I obviously didn't want to be his friend).

The first time i met them after our new friendship, one of the goons came running at me but the leader stopped him and explained the situation. After that i tried my best not to talk to him so i could distance him from myself yet make sure he doesn't antagonise me.

So try to make them your acquaintances, it might not be as easy for you as it was for you since i'm the same race as the west African gangs.

Yea, that's a convenient advantage you have over the basic, afrikan grooming gang. Proves exactly how racist these niggers actually are.

Unfortunately, for the rest of us eurofags we're gonna have to look like more trouble than we're worth. Whether that means getting to the gym and muay thai sessions or holstering weapons (illegally in some cases).

Cucking to their shit is just consent; you should be curbstomping the fuck out of them. The cops ain't gonna do it for you.

I don't have any sympathy for Facebook fags, however Google has become necessary for finding important information quickly (e.g. travel information, software development, health and fitness, education).

Google, like the oil and rail Barons of the 19th and 20th century, have built momentum which is what they are living off now.

If one were to challenge them it would be better to do so now than never. Market dominance is not an excuse for inactivity.

In other words, he is happy to be at the mercy of the current order; utterly pathetic and cowardly. Imagine living your entire life grovelling to the nanny state. I know that the British are formerly "subjects" of the Crown but that doesn't mean you have to grovel like a dog.

Whenever someone says that they "have nothing to hide" ask them if they secure their phones, computers, banking information or lock their house.

Are there any controversial figures left in academia that oppose the technological police state?

Part 107 pilot here, no you almost certainly cannot fly a drone while driving, k e k. However, it can be autonomous or piloted by another passenger.

Also, drones over roadways is considered bad form.

As for the utility of a car equipped with a drone, as seen in Bladerunner 2049 - security vehicles with large patrol zones, off-road vehicles that need to see ahead where typical traffic updates do not work. And of course video producers or inspectors essentially turning a car into a rolling drone control OP has it's uses for mobile site work.

There are a few uses for it; car makers will probably avoid making this an already included feature because liability… so your only hopes of prototyping it are aftermarket.

Drones are noisy, have limited battery life, limited range, aren't very powerful, normally aren't very fast, and easy to be knocked off course. If you're traveling at 60mph you'll almost never have a drone that can go more than a couple of minutes away from the car, and you also have to get the thing to land accurately. If you're stuck in traffic you could send it out to see how long the jam is and what the cause is, but you're already in the jam so the drone is doing nothing but sating your curiosity. You can do this with today's tech already if you want, go spend a couple hundred bucks on an FPV racer.

In the future it's more likely the cars themselves will be connected via either mesh network to each other or reporting to a centralised botnet you didn't even know you were contributing to.

>Will drones let drivers see road conditions ahead ?

It's possible but why would you want to see it? It'd be way more useful to just have a computer program process the road data and spit it out to you in the form of "In 2.7 miles, there will be a 5 minute delay."

A better idea would be to have sensors installed on the sides of roads and the data can be uploaded and accessible publicly like GPS data.

If the drone can autonomously deploy and land it would work work just as effectively as if there where sensors or cameras uploading traffic information to a public API.

I think the focus of car manufacturers should be to stop drinkers from driving or pull over cars with sleepy drivers.

The drone systems should also be heavily regulated on public roads.
