So what cars are even safe to drive anymore? What was the final year in which cars were made without hardware that allows remote tampering?

Basically every Car that has a computer in it, could be potentially sabotaged from outside, it would be probably easier to hack your cars system. Also alot of cars (even without a computer) have inbuilt GPS locators.

On the one hand, bicycles aren't very cyber.
On the other hand, bicycles don't have botnets in them (yet), don't rely on big corps for fuel and repairs (yet), and don't require a license to operate (yet).

How about motorcycles.
I know a guy who fixes them up freelance. Even modern ones don't really have computer parts in them. Even then it's easy to replace them and fix them up yourself.
Also I think bikes could be pretty cyb depending. I mean roller blades and skate boards seemed kinda punk back in the day It's all about moving around fast and without being to impaired by your vehicle. I can see bike delivery like they do in new york is kinda cyb.

Tesla's S60 made after 2013 were actually Tesla S75. It was cheaper for Tesla to keep all of their battery modules the same and instead limit them in software instead of making 2 complete different modules.
They did not hide this and also offered to upgrade the cars for $3500 at any time with an over the air update. It would appear they are applying a temporary over the air updated to any s60 near Florida to help them leave Florida.

It makes sense to do, software is so much easier to iterate/test than engineering moving parts. Plus the ability to upgrade/downgrade gives the consumer flexibility. Sure it seems weird to put in artificial limitations, but its a business trying to make money. What'll really suck is if they package features together where you can't pick things ala carte, you have to subscribe to the gold package if you want the backup camera, but then you also get crap you don't want like the ability to add Friends And Family to the driver list, just to justify the extra $39.99 a month.
I'm working on a hacking videogame
>>33591 and one of the missions will revolve around someone having a software-limited phone, one that physically has a front-facing camera but its disabled, so the player has to remotely install the update that enables it, in order to get a picture of their face.

I have an '04 civic. mechanical door locks, manual windows. unfortunately it's an autotragic. but no ABS, no traction control or anything else. There is a computer that controls the transmission I believe, but that's pretty much it. Cars like that are not vulnerable to cyberattacks.

That's assuming that the onboard computer has a means of external communication. Even my '99 Ranger has an onboard computer for controlling the electrical systems such as fuel injection, error codes, and the like. However, no external attack short of an EMP is going to be able to disrupt it, seeing as there is no available means to connect to the computer via wireless.

First, no, modern motorcycles are not without computers. Anything fuel injected will have the same ECU. Unless you're buying a bike made for old people to pretend they're in easy rider on, it'll have one.
Second, of course motorcycles are Cyb. Akira/Bubblegum/etc … all the old influences had amazing motorcycles.

Only a motor? Baby's first cyberpunk bike tier. You need to be stealing bikes while on noorotropics and modifying it by spraying it and removing the number. Then mounting a dc motor and electric, explosives and ink spraying antitheft system.

I like the idea of a sort of madmax styled junkyard bike that's decked out with a bunch of unnecessary shit, like spinning sawblades, caltrops, and probably a slamfire shotgun or something. Although it wouldn't exactly be cyber.

It's going to become more and more commonplace as time goes on. GM was caught a few weeks ago harvesting info of what drivers were listening to on the radio. The fucking r-a-d-i-o.
On that note, does anyone know of any good forums that focus mainly on the tech side of cars, ie infotainment and disabling as much botnet as possible. /tech/ meets /o/
