Those are actually official. The reason Ghost In The Shell movie is good is because it wasn't actually Shirow who actually wrote it. By the time the manga was produced, he only wanted to draw butts and tits, so the director only took the main idea from the source.

On the other hand, it's said Applessed is very good.

Not most. Most packages run their updated versions as soon as you reboot that program itself, but there are some specific services, libraries, or programs, that don't. The kernel is the most flagrant example: he has 4.11, which is fucking ancient for bleeding edge standards, as many distroes are starting to roll out Linux BlazeIt Release. That said, that anon is using a CubieBoard, so it probably is just a local home server he has I fucking hope not exposed to the wide net

It isn't really expensive to eat keto. For example, I make a really nice soup out of Jalepeno, cream cheese, and tomato, with either some chicken or pork thrown into it. Bacon works really nice in it as well, and it isn't spicy like you'd think it would be having a lot of Jalepeno in it because the brick of cream cheese that goes into it counteracts the spice.

You can find a lot of Keto and Keto-friendly recipes online that are cheap and easy to throw together.

Get enough macros and calories so you maintain weight if you're not after weight loss. Carbs (also with vegetable oils) have been a cause of brain fog and sluggishness *for me* ( does not apply to everyone afaik) and I have a tangible increase in energy, my sleep is cleaner. If you have some sort of toxins stored in your fat cells, that shit will burn off too.

You may also get a side effect of needing less intoxicants for equal effects when you do indulge, even after factoring out tolerance breaks and whatnot.

If you live near equator you'll have zero problems for building your own IoT cyberfarm (IoT done right) unless it's a police state like SG where even gums are illegal.

If you live in a bio-diverse island/archipelago or shore you'll never go hungry, just get the local fish in the cheap assuming it isn't contaminated with radiation.

 No.52373[Reply]

Cyberpunk is high-tech low life. Some of the famous cyberpunk writers, notably Bruce Sterling, tried to update this with "favela chic." (Why not a more white-centric vision? Because most of the classic cyberpunk writers hated white civilization, and some of them were Jews.)

In fact "favela chic" was depicted (before cyberpunk existed) by a very white man who wrote fiction stories from a very white perspective. His name was Dashiell Hammett, and his writings predate personal computers by about 50 years. Nevertheless Dashiell Hammett deserves your respect as a pivotal writer of the 20th century. Hammett did not write about favelas, as such, but he wrote about low-life people of various kinds. I encourage you to read some Hammett and then to pause for a while and marvel and how many 20th century writers ripped him off. Hammett was capable of writing about favela neighborhoods because he had seen a great deal of poverty, hardship, crime, abuse of authority, and moral corruption. Hammett was capable of turning real-world favelas into fictional favela chic because Hammett was just a literary genius.

The lesson to be learned is that the writers of today (they include the writer and the reader of this very post) should write the kind of stories that people want to rip off. And we can do that if we are capable of walking up to suffering in real life and etching it into our memories. Most people who live in favelas have been pushed out of easier places and forced to survive on an inhospitable, precarious slope.

>As Sterling … explained in his closing address at the reboot 11 conference, one possible scenario for the future is the "favela chic" scenario, in which material wealth is non-existent, but individuals are plugged into the grid and satiated with Facebook and Twitter.

Sterling was talking about that crap years ago. The specifics have shifted around; in the reality of late 2018, we see that Facebook has been abandoned by the youth and Twitter might be in trouble. However, the general pattern remains: the ultra-rich devise distractions like Facebook and Twitter to keep the poor in a state where they can't endanger the inequality of the status quo. No this is bullshit, I know people who moved to Detroit during the collapse and who bought trashed out houses in southern Atlanta, it is livable but it isn't unpoliced. Squatting is very much enforced against in these sorts of areas for the most part at least in the current political climate. You just don't get this kind of shit like you see in Brazil where people live in shacks they built for 5-10 years continuously without being forced to clear out. Just doesn't happen in the US, anti-homeless patrols happen with a bi-monthly or every 6-months type of regularity it would seem. It just doesn't compare.

I'm in Europe, so tell me because I don't know: homeless people do live somewhere, don't they? I had read some stuff about homeless communities. I remember they get some police visits, but they manage to establish some sort of communities.

Around here, there are squats that eventually get dislodged, but it only means the rhythm is a bit faster (6 months to a year usually instead of the 5-10 years you speak about).

That said, the (European) web of people that meet and connect in these places is maintained despite "evacuations". Information is shared (through fanzines, word of mouth…) about new places and people travel from squat to squat.

>It literally ALWAYS happens. Its like freenet or Tor. The moment people build something to go against the neo-liberal global order it's flooded with nazis, pedos, and crazies.

This is the reason why freespeech platforms are not popular with the masses. The fringe "white genocide" posters are so absolutely toxic the co-opt everything in an effort to attract believers. Nigga just because you say /pol/ is cyber doesn't mean I am jumping on the white genocide train. Its ahistorical - no cyberpunk writer ever was. I am not that much of a shazbot. Mean while nazicancer fills ever thread and disrupts content, and platform fails.

Free Speech havens need to have normal, desirable OC to be viable alternatives to the masses. There is no way the masses are ever going to user platforms where every thread is co-opted by shazbots pushing fringe ideology.

These shazbots advocating 100% of the time in every thread for their fringe bullshit are killing free speech platforms.

I didn't equate imagboards with freespeech, but fullchan is a free speech platform, and was litterally formed as such. Your point about lack of moderation \ne free speech is a well taken but there is more to it than just that. There a super minority of people who are exceptionally toxic. What they are doing isn't spam per se, but they manage to organically shill by making every conversation they have about advocacy for whatever pet topic fringe topic have. Probably a social solution is needed : "don't feed the trolls" and a technology solution "filter posts containing …"

I need to adopt a /cyber/ aesthetic for future endeavors. Not necessarily full goth-ninja, but cyber-influenced and occasionally full goth-ninja. I don't wanna be a corpcuck and spend out the ass to buy clothes that look like shit though.

I want a minimalistic, futuristic pieces.

What are some frugal /cyber/ fashion items that you'd recommend?

Well, you take the arm off and get it repaired or conduct repairs yourself, realistically. having some measure of plug-and-play functionality seems to make sense. It really would depend on how seamless the electronics are. I'd like a robotic arm to be a fashion statement, personally. I want it to be obvious that it's not natural. I'd construct the outer shell with angular shrouds and bulges and things that would both look schway as fuck and also house extra gadgets or auxiliary batteries.

If it's extremely integrated, well, you get surgery.

Hello /cyber/, I've been kind of lurking this board on and off for the past few months and I have to admit I quite like the aesthetic that Cyberpunk brings. Admittedly I am likely much younger than most of you, so the only real taste I've had of Cyberpunk has been a Shadowrun novel, "Ghost In The Shell", "Deus Ex", "Blade Runner", and ultimately what I've seen of this board. I'm looking to sort of change my life to model around this sort of aesthetic because it really grabs my attention, so I present the question that has probably been asked quite a bit of this board: where would I start if I want to be Cyberpunk? This is a multi-faceted question and doesn't necessarily apply only to just appearance, so here are some general topics I'm starting to look into:

> OS

> Programming Languages

> Appearance

> Novels

I'd include diet, but beans and rice have the diet portion covered (ayy broke as fuck), plus I'm trying to explore some venues for making more money.

It depends on what you like.

I liked the idea of the 'math' as a quasi-religious academia removed from the bullshit of everyday life. That goes away more and more and details about quantum mechanics, configueration space, neutron bombs, etc. start emerging, and the ending is an interesting excersize in strategy.

Its not cyberpunk per say, but definitely high tech, and kind of educational if you like science. Stephenson is an excellent writer generally. If the science stuff sounds boring, and you didn't like the beginning, you might not find it all that interesting. Its a long read, but I enjoyed it.

Historically, pure math has always been the purview of the religious and philosophical, not of technicians. In fact, even to this day, technicians and other sorts of "uses math but doesn't develop it" types scorn pure math as being a useless trade, since most of modern routine human endeavour is achievable with only fairly basic math which is true but ignores the effects of the highest tiers of technicians/engineers/etc that do use advanced math creating that rising tide of technology that lifts all boats, necessitating more and more math skills be learned all the time to just stay relevant in the face of technologies that become newly common

Has anybody here been keeping keeping up with the development of Neuralink? It seems like one of the most /cyber/ technologies.

For those not familiar Neuralink is a company owned by Elon Musk (which may or may not be a good thing) that aims to develop a brain implant enabling people to connect with machines, with the short term goal of treating disease and long term goal of transhumanism.

Actual information about their developments is scarce but they're currently performing animal testing.

Also feel free to bring up any other similar technologies that you know of.

>gamed by the same shitty bankers who fuck the economy all the time

You don't understand macroeconomics. tl;dr Bankers don't fuck the economy to make money, they fuck specific markets to make brouzouf which causes market instability and people freak out and sell shit. A good example are CDOs and rating organizations not giving a fuck because the sun is shining and the economy is booming. Literally can't go tits up like some dumb retard on /r/WallStreetBets said

>>54540

This guy's right. It isn't a doesn't know how cryptocurrencies work.

Cash is inherently better because it's only opaquely traceable and globally pseudonymous for every transaction. Not so much local pseudonymity since merchants and fellow shoppers remember familiar faces, but that's where it ends.

Current-gen blockchain crap is worse than brouzouf due to transactions being permanently recorded in a public ledger, just waiting to be datamined by corps and governments.

Research has shown that mixers aren't infallible. Same with Tor nodes, they logarithmically approach practical anonymity but never theoretically reach it.

>Using closed source OS, then talking about a "secure browser" is just… not relevant? In my personal opinion it is not.

Depends on your threat model. If you do not consider pervasive mass surveillance by government(s) a threat, and consider microsoft/adobe trusted parties, it can be meaningful to talk about a secure browser on top of Windows.

Of course, I cannot imagine any /cyber/ poster being down with pervasive mass surveillance, which makes all closed source code suspect.

Woah, we're reaching larp levels neither of lainchans achieved.

Here's a serious advice: start using Tor Browser and learn how it's designed, then pick a bare Soros/Firefox and tweak it for normal usage by removing home phoning but try not to fall into full placebo pit like Adnauseam/User Agent Switcher users do. Learn how websites identify and track you, learn how you can be infected or deanonymized through browser.

Stop visiting websites that break too much when you disable scripts or add lists to your firewall/adblock, there is 99% probability of those websites being shit and not having any meaningful information to gather from.

If you just need low attack surface, use simple HTML rendering browsers with no built-in javascript support like Dillo, w3m, Links. For videos, I'd assume you mean YouTube and the likes. Because simple embedded videos can be downloaded with right click.

Happily, a program called youtube-dl exists. It supports lots of websites to download from, it can even run live streams and you can send it's output to video player software. Should I say, you can also use it over Tor and still get reasonable speeds?

When you say secure you have to have a threat model.

If your threat model includes only an ordinary attacker using conventional methods (like say a pentester), simply having up to date software might be good enough. You can increase security margin by reducing attack surface: Limiting plugins installed, setting plugins click to play, limiting javscript, blocking unwanted third party content. Using corrective security measures like sand-boxing, or virtualization might be considered extreme (Qubes temporary VMs are awesome here). Detective measures like anti-virus, or HIPS might be useful as well.

If your threat model includes advertisers you might want to add to the above blackholing known addnetworks, disabling 3rd party cookies, periodically clearing cookies, possibly vpn/tor use . You also need to ask yourself if you trust your software vendors to do the right thing here. Consult the EFFs prism break guide. Operational security measures might be useful here as well.

If your threat model includes governments then do not use proprietary software.

Haven't read it in forever, but it's been floating in the back of my mind recently. I remember it being pretty good, but human memory is known for being unreliable at best.

F2F, by Phillip Finch

> The Verba Interchange is an electronic bulletin board, a virtual meeting place where anyone with a computer and a modem can exchange views, flirt, or argue with complete anonymity. But an ingenious serial killer is using the vast potential of the Net to choose victims for a deadly f2f - a face-to-face meeting.
