http://www.ftp-sites.org/ is a pretty good place to find ftp servers. Most of them are down now because the site hasn't been updated in over a decade, but every now and then you'll find something good. Report back here with anything interesting.
Also, general thread on sharing your large collections of data with friends and family and easily absorbing theirs. What's your technique? I run a fileserver on my home network so that whenever someone comes over I just have them upload to there. It runs a Samba share so it's pretty easy for my non-schway friends to use.

A raspberry pi has no sata ports and a crap USB connection (no seriously, it doesn't work quite right- you'll lose speed).
Depending on what sort of performance you expect I would recommend either using a mini ITX board, or go for a banana pi with a SATA splitter. If you went with the banana pi you could have a set up that costs about $65 new plus disks which would run five drives. Obviously, the bandwidth is limited but odds are five spinning magnetic platter drives would be able to operate at or near full speed anyhow. A mini ITX will be pricier- but again, you would get far superior performance. I'm assuming that for a single local copy you hardly care, though.

Would you look at the date? Nearly a year since the original posting, this is relevant again. If you are new to the board, let me be completely frank; most of the files linked here are totally worthless. Sure, you'll feel cool having filled an external drive or two, but I sincerely doubt that anyone is going to teach themselves a new programming language from a 500 page pdf file. Switching back and forth between windows and staring at your screen until your eyes hurt contributes to burnout. The weapons stuff is oddly specific and is utterly worthless for anyone not running an armory. Do some calisthenics, get a rifle and go down to a shooting range, that will get you much farther than 200 gb of instructional videos and schematics. The fiction is almost exclisively mass market genre stuff, not at all hard to come by, with the rest being things out of copyright that you could get individually in a wider range of formats from Project Gutenberg. Library Genesis (gen.lib.rus.ec) is the go to for academic titles; everything here is very social science heavy and has been assembled without much focus. While you may be tempted to download some of their database dumps, restrain yourself, as the files are unsorted and unnamed (at least as of writing this). The rest of the torrents here are old infographics (most from the original Info Library) that have been swimming around the chans in some form or another for years. Its a bad idea to assume that anything originally posted on 4/b/ in 2010 is going to be accurate and not just blow up in your face.

We have a serious problem. It looks like China is about to crack down on using a VPN.
With their proposal of giving each individual a trustworthiness rating attached to their ID cards already being implemented and now this I can't help but be seriously wary of communism and totalitarianism. If you look at the track record that China and it's president has it seems like this could be backlash for their currency failing to recover.
I don't want to bring race or reputation into this but when you see something is made in China what do you think?
