and did not use the corrected pastebin but one with 2 remaining errors although i told him they had errors.
Kept explaining and when the errors didn't come out finally just made a bin.
Took two more breads to get the remaining two errors out. Now clean in #12705, which i just baked. Doc's got the bread now.

Had zero preconceived ideas but after hours of posting corrections that did not get picked up, could not help but take a "show me" attitude. Tonight same baker baked breads 12710 - 12714 with correct pastebin links. So neutral at this point, will continue to monitor. Today doc showed him how to properly do handoffs (how to ASK for them), see 12710.

This really sucks, it seems sometimes when I receive a wayback URL and everything looks fine the video is not really getting archived.
For example this one:

This was archived twice now.

When you open this link it says "this hasn't been archived on wayback yet", but when you search for the original URL on wayback it returns 2 matches and both don't work.
I can't do much about cases like these. Maybe I can write some code that verifies the archives, but this won't help when it continues to not archive the link.
I even wonder what's going on. Is maybe 8kun blocking requests from wayback machine when too many requests are being sent in a short time? Or is wayback machine broken?
I optimized my archiving code today and it looked fine at first. It works faster now and it retries now when an error status is returned.

The last archived URL actually works now, but only when you access it using HTTPS.

I archived that one by using another method.
What sucks about that one is that it's meant for end users and I don't get a wayback URL immediately. So I would have to check later if anything actually was archived.

Right now I'm getting HTTP 502s for every single 8kun URL I'm trying to archive.
Meanwhile archive.today works fine.
If there only was another archive for videos.

So I got 502s for literally every single URL from wayback machine..
Now I look for these URLs using the wayback machine memento API and at least some URLs were actually still successfully captured.
Will have to rewrite the capturing code now.
And 8kun was down around 10 hours ago for a short time. During that time several archive.today archives were made, well nothing was saved. So I will have to write verification code anyways to verify these archives too.

Ok, systems go.
I'm now checking wayback machine for the URL before asking for it to archive and that seems to work at least as far as I see.
I opened up a few of the verified URLs and they all play fine.
I can also do these checks very fast.
I'm now at 640 movie files checked, 800 to go.
Looking good.

AAA have you considered making and hosting a simple website for your archiving efforts? would be much more reliable than trying to trick web.archive.org or archive.today into grabbing content that goes down from time to time

Ten common "tells" that out new bakers
based on discussion last week
feedback appreciated.
Focus mainly on specific acts that can be easily remedied (a) if new baker knows how (e.g., Global Report) or (b) baker realizes why they matter (e.g., tagging dough post).
Ten qwik 'n easy things to fix:
1 - using curly quotes from word processing programs to make bold
use text editors not word processors like Word
2 - copying the page breaks into the dough
know what they are and do not copy-pasta when baking! ////////////page 1\\\\\\\\\\\
3 - for Create a Thread, using wrong bread number
check and double check bread numbers before baking
4 - not tagging the dough post when picking up ghost bake, making dough changes, etc. (see >>19341, >>19374)
always tag the dough if there's more than one baker!
5 - trying to type in the formating lines for each Q post
don't do it, uses special characters so just copypasta
6 - omitting the colon in the title after the bred number: Q Research General #12695 My First Bread Edition
easy to do but easy to forget - important for aggregators
7 - replying to own posts when generating the dough
just copy in order, no RT necessary; see >>19339)
8 - trying to replicate lines in Q posts from scratch instead of using copy-pasta
Here's a template: >>19379
9 - making page 2 notables post way too short (to avoid "body too long" message)
use two pages instead of one for posting notes
10 - trying to contact BO by posting a message in /qr/ (instead of using Report or Global Report)
use Report/Global Report; in menu to upper left of each post
Ten challenges re baking attitude & practices:
More subtle and often more challenging initially bc it takes time to develop good habits.
1 - remembering it's about service not ego (hint: don't get triggered!)
let go of small annoyances to maintain 40000 ft view
2 - using good handoff protocol (so the board knows who's baking)
learn it, use it, don't get careless - it's important
3 - not freaking out when asked to provide a qbin/pastebin for verification
know how it works and why we do it (to batten down the hatches)
4 - using pretty set formatting for notables on dough page 2 (not realizing aggregator needs)
practice bake using exact formatting you see in LIVE bakes
5 - reading prior breads before baking (see >>19292)
keep up on the news & notables before baking when possible
6 - using qresear.ch to check for dups
use it; it works (exception: fast breads, heavy news)
7 - avoiding "cut-pasta" instead of "copy-pasta" (suddenly, your notes or dough - GONE!)
do enough practice baking to get 'muscle memory' to kick in b4 going LIVE
8 - strict "hands off" policy re notables of another baker (except for accuracy when needed)
essential for trust; really try to avoid(not true for note collector notables, can be edited)
9 - being careful about accuracy with notables (we can't change 'em so sauce really matters)
check for sauce & sauce quality; look for multiple reports of breaking news
10 - avoiding dreaded double-spacing of notables (happens when baker uses copy-pasta straight from dough instead of pastebin)
learn how to upload/download dough from pastebin/qbin

You simply get the MP4/WEBM URL by right-clicking on the URL after "File".
For example for my last post that would be:
https://media.8kun.top/file_store/a5ef73ba049811ef59fde1eded68eb5cd34a0ac6239ed6c734ed4e2c6b1ea629.mp4
You then archive that link and you are done.
This will only work for wayback machine. Archive.Today doesn't archive videos.
>How to verify
Just get a URL of one of the threads in the catalog. I'm archiving the lower 80% of the catalog each day. So grab a link of a thread, then look up that URL on archive.today as well as on wayback machine.
For wayback machine go here:
https://web.archive.org
and enter that URL. An up-to-date archive should exist.
Same for https://archive.today
And for wayback machine you look for MP4s within that thread and click on the same link as before (first link right after "File"). That should also point to the archived video.
I can't verify every single thread, it would be helpful if a few anons would check randomly.

I'm not from US and for my country I would have to make my real name visible on the site at least for now which is a big no-no. I don't want visits from Antifa.
Also hosting videos would require tons of bandwidth, which means it would get expensive.
I would also have to upload everything, and my internet connection sucks especially for uploading and when these people can censor content on wayback machine and archive.today, they surely can get rid of a website.
I could look into uploading automatically to bitchute, if that's even possible. But bitchute is censoring videos as well, not many but they do. And even if this worked out, the original video URLs would have to be used to find these videos.
I could also look into automatically uploading to mega, but that's also not safe and I would also still have to upload everything which takes ages.

Oh well, another idea would be to upload to anonfiles.com, but these URLs go down after 6 months if no one accessed them.
I could in theory upload there and access every URL every few months, still I don't even know if you have to just access the anonfiles-URL, or if you need to download the content as well.
And for that one would have to same issues like for bitchute - how to link original video URLs and anonfiles-URLs together.

Alternatively, is it possible to upload just the most current set of mp4's used for step by step baking instructions and other instructional mp4s (like how to create correctly formatted Q drops) in a way that we can keep a copy of the current mp4s online? That's probably just 20 - 30 mp4's right now - not that many. Using anonfiles.com (assuming it's usually up)?

Plus I don't even see a point. If videos were loaded up immediately all videos of a page would be loaded up.
But you can simply click on the MP4 links to play them on wayback machine. I don't see that as a problem.

And now it seems the files aren't even getting deleted anymore so that's perfect for archiving.
Back when it was just anonfile.com the files were deleted after a while,which made it useless for the most part.
I will implement some code to upload thread JSON files to anonfiles.
