What's the closest anime to House MD?

What makes House MD for you? I mean, is it the character of Dr. House, or the way he solves the cases? Or the format of the show? Or that it's set in a hospital?

Well, there might be hardly any such anime so I'm willing to try anything. If you have an idea, then you can say the anime and what makes you think it's similar.

Mostly I like the way house doesn't give a fuck and does ridiculous things and gets away with it, although in anime there's usually a lot of crazy unreal behavior so it would have to be a more grounded type of anime than usual. I like how he solves cases using both his knowledge about a field of science and understanding of people's behavior, doesn't have to be medicine. I also like how everyone constantly psychoanalyzes each other.

House is pretty original so even after it became about that balding 13 year old boy's character's lesbiabism which is still after it went to shit I don't think there's anything like it.

Well, maybe, just maybe, the very beginning of Oregairu is a wee bit similar sometimes, but it's a romcom that later turns into a soap opera. The problem is that this kind of psychoanalysis is not really a thing for Japs, because their whole culture is based on playing roles and separating the real self from the professional and public image. So an antisocial man like House would be a crazy hobo in Japan.

Is there a website out there that catalogs changes between broadcast and BD versions of shows, either in terms of censorship or just general quality?

I think it would be useful to be able to look up whether, how much, and in what way a given series was changed.

It'd be nice if there was, but I can't imagine anyone would have the time to scrutinize every single show for changes and compile them into reports. For changes involving lewder content I know fapservice.com will often make note of when BDs defog/add nipples/etc. but I doubt it's comprehensive. There was (maybe still is) an anon on 4/a/ who would go through BD releases of Shaft shows to highlight the differences, probably because they had a reputation for making lots of changes for BD versions. That's about all I know of. If something like you describe exists I'm sure it'll be a jap blog, they've done things like a whole site dedicated to cataloguing every pantyshot in anime, after all.

Hello /rec/. I'm working on a short essay about internet culture, and now I need a image for it, with these elements:

1. Anime, preferably post-2007 moe style for immediate recognition, if there are none, older 80s, 90s and 00s are okay too.

2. Psychedelic and/or glitches art.

3. Cyberpunk, not talking about the Windows 95 aesthetics, I mean, mostly the presence of the cyberspace, like the common "grid coordinate in an alternative universe" art depiction existed since Neuromancer.

4. No dank memes, no pepe, no politicians, and no Greek and Roman statues. Well, can be

ignored if all other elements are perfectly presented in the image.

I know vaporwave perfectly fits the theme and I’ve looked through several, this image is currently the best one I’ve found. Any ideas?

I'm having a hard time finding some new mangoo to read, can you give me a recommendation based on my shit tastes? Shit I like is:

Giant Killing

Saint Young Men

Tobaku [whatever series FKMT is making] Kaiji

Watamote

Sakamoto Desu ga?

Shiori Experience

Homunculus

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (especially part 2 and 7)

OPM (the one by ONE to be honest)

Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa (fuck NEW)

Ore Monogatari

Adolf ni Tsugu

Pluto

Even a monkey can draw manga

(Whenever I find some badly scanned Warau Salesman I get to read some I guess)

Tohai Densetsu Akagi

Kuragehime

Franken Fran

Angel Densetsu

Probably some more but they must have been rather forgettable, also I don't really like traditional SoL styled literature but I'd be down for something a bit more different.

Gamble Fish.

It's not a particularly good manga, but goddamn if it's not hilariously fun to read. It's like every single bad thing that you could put in a story, and then some, but it's so over the top and borderline softcore that it's enjoyable all the same. The ending was a huge letdown, but it makes it all worth it because you get to see manga Obama fighting for his life.

My dad is interested in getting into some anime, and I'd like to expose him to good, high quality anime with great story and production, great characters and all that.

No nudity or lewd stuff, no edgy or hyperactive stuff, no cutesie stuff or comedy or slice of life, please. My dad has an open mind but this is my one shot at exposing him to a new medium and to show him what it has to offer to him.

So far what I think would be good to show him is Akira, Grave of the Fireflies, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Bridage, Memories and Ping Pong The Animation. I considered including Angel's Egg to the list but I think that's too artsie and slow for his tastes, I'm not sure.

Is there anything else /rec/ thinks would be good to share with my dad? Thank you! I'll answer any questions about him I'm able to if it would help to receive good recommendations.

I'm looking for old manga/anime that came about before those japs started filled them with some many clitches, that it became inescapable. I want something before anime became the shit it is today.

I'll give you an example of a manga that story wise, is more like 1950s scifi novel than manga.

The Way of Ryu

Ryu having just woken up from a sleep capsule inside a space ship. To find himself the sole survivor of an expedition, the spaceship having crash landed on a grossly mutated and wholly unfamiliar Earth. Joining forces with fellow survivors from a different crash, Ryu and his comrades fight to survive on this new and deadly Earth as they search for any humans that might've made it through the mysterious apocalypse.

There was an extension I used to run in my browser to avoid the nauseating ads on Gelbooru, and I want to find it again but I can't remember the name.

It was a very minimalist interface, with a panel in the top right letting you enter search terms, tick what ratings to show, how many images to show per page, and what page to go to. It was completely unadorned, simply black text on white background. Clicking an image thumbnail took you straight to the image itself, like clicking "download image" in the default interface.

I do remember that when you made a new search or changed search page, it only affected the interface, with the address still being simply gelbooru.com and the different searches not counting in your history.

I've checked a few different sites, searching for booru-related scripts on github and the repositories linked by Tampermonkey and Greasemonkey, but I con't find anything that sounds like what I remember.

Anyone know what it might be?
