What you need is some Macross, it set the standard for this combination. The balance of Cute Girls <> Mecha tends to shift somewhat towards cute girls as the franchise adds entries, depending on where your taste lands.

Some other choices that might fit the bill would be Full Metal Panic, Gunbuster/Diebuster, Code Geass, Brigadoon (if a girl meets robot romance is a side to this you're interested in), or Patlabor (if you don't mind your cute girls and mechs mixed with the buddy cop genre).

Depending on how exactly you draw the line for whats 'mecha', you could also go for unorthodox choices which are loaded with cute girls like Symphogear (girls using mecha-like implements to fight) or even Girls und Panzer (girls operating tanks).

Can someone help me, I've been searching for a manga for so long now, yet I can't seem to find it. The story seems to take place in the mid 70s, the protagonist is a young boy, obsessed with robots. One day, his dad gets home angry, saying that they've got robots at the place he works. The protag imagines mazinger Z standing by the assembly line, but get shocked like crazy, seeing assembly line robots like pictured. There was also some stuff about how the assembly robots were actually conscious, hints about the protag being romantically interested in a girl from class, I think I also remember reading about the series on baka-updates, how the protag and the girl ends up having a robot baby. The artstyle was really bleak looking, using a lot of shadows and most of the backgrounds being completely black. Anyone know what series I am talking about?

This conflict cannot just be solved in a single episode or season btw.

It should be the primary theme of the Anime.

The monster shouldn't be too humanized and in his human form most of the time. (if he even has one) It should be a monster in the truest sense of the word. I had a dream about something like that and am now looking for anime for inspiration.

What are some anime with /fit/ protagonists?

Doesnt matter what kind, harem, comedy, school-shit etc nor if it's bodybuilder-tier muscular or just moderately toned as long as they are sort of /fit/.

I've been watching Shadow Skill and it's okay, not great but man there really should be more animoos with muscular toned chicks especially as protags, usually they alongside male leads are just delegated into side characters which sucks!

Mahou Senshi Louie might be the kind of thing you're looking for in terms of having both male and female MC /fit/. Outlaw Star might be a good fit too, Gene and Aisha are both /fit/ although Aisha is not quite a main character.

For male protags specifically you have it easy, almost almost sports or 80s shounen series will give you plenty. Something like Hajime no Ippo in particular you ought to like.

Female characters are a lot harder. Ghost in the Shell has a pretty buff MC, but she's also not a 'real' body, so maybe it doesn't count as /fit/. If you're not hung up on them being ripped your options open up a lot, though. Devilman Crybaby, Tetsuwan Birdy, Seirei no Moribito, Black Lagoon, Angel Cop, Keijo, and Vivid Strike all feature /fit/ girls. Anyway, this isn't really my area of taste so I'm sure I'm missing some obvious choices.

Yeah not necessarily ripped, as long as they look somewhat athletic ie how their silhouette is atleast. Nothing worse than a lanky dyel swinging a huge weapon or supposed athlete not even remotely looking like how he/she should for the sport.
