FBI Seizes Senator Burr’s Phone in Connection with Federal Investigation Into His Stock Trades

The FBI seized Senator Richard Burr’s (R-NC) phone Wednesday evening in connection with the federal probe into his stock trades.

The LA Times reported

Federal agents seized a cellphone belonging to a prominent Republican senator on Wednesday night as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into controversial stock trades he made as the novel coronavirus first struck the U.S., a law enforcement official said.

Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, turned over his phone to agents after they served a search warrant on the lawmaker at his residence in the Washington area, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss a law enforcement action.

To obtain a search warrant, federal agents and prosecutors must persuade a judge they have probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. The law enforcement official said the Justice Department is examining Burr’s communications with his broker.

Burr dumped as much as $1.72 million in hotel stocks before the Coronavirus panic hit the US while reassuring the public about Coronavirus preparedness.

This was also at the same time Burr was receiving daily briefings on the Coronavirus health threat.

Privately Burr sounded the alarm and compared Coronavirus to the 1918 “Spanish Flu” that nearly wiped out 10% of the world’s population at the time — including 675,000 Americans by some estimates.

“There’s one thing that I can tell you about this: It is much more aggressive in its transmission than anything that we have seen in recent history,” he said, according to a secret recording obtained by NPR. “It is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic.”

Publicly, however, Burr downplayed the virus.

Burr previously said he got his information from public news reports.

“I relied solely on public news reports to guide my decisions regarding the sale of stocks on February 13,” Burr said. “Specifically, I closely followed CNBC’s daily health and science reporting out of its Asia bureaus at the time.”

NYC attorney to likes of Lady Gaga, Elton John hacked, files held for $21M ransom

Hackers have attacked the website of top showbiz attorney Allen Grubman, demanding $21 million while threatening to reveal personal details of his clients including Elton John, Lady Gaga and Barbra Streisand. Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks’ site is down, and the hackers claim to have 756 gigabytes of data including contracts and personal emails. A screenshot alleged to be a contract for Madonna has already been released.

Multiple sources tell Page Six that the FBI is investigating, while the NYC-based law firm says it has notified its famous clients. One source said, “The hackers got into the system while everyone was focused on the coronavirus. We assume, but there is no confirmation, that the hackers are Eastern European. They are demanding a $21 million ransom, and the firm is not negotiating with them.” The source added of Grubman — the father of famed public relations pro Lizzie Grubman — “His firm has sensitive details on everything — work contracts, confidential settlements and endorsement deals for the biggest stars in New York and Hollywood.” The law firm said in a statement: “We can confirm that we’ve been victimized by a cyberattack. We have notified our clients and our staff. We have hired the world’s experts who specialize in this area, and we are working around the clock to address these matters.”

Musicians represented by the firm include Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Lil Nas X, The Weeknd, U2 and Drake. Other clients listed are Priyanka Chopra, Robert De Niro, Sofía Vergara, LeBron James and Mike Tyson.

The hackers are reportedly known as REvil or Sodinokibi, and in January attacked foreign exchange company Travelex with malware that encrypts data until a ransom is paid in untraceable cryptocurrency bitcoin. A spokesperson for Grubman’s law firm noted that HBO, Zoom and the Texas court system have all been victims of similar attacks, and added, “Their clients have expressed overwhelming support as they understand the firm is the latest high-profile victim of this global extortion scheme.”

Sen. Ron Johnson to Request Biden, Other Obama-Era Officials Testify on ‘Unmasking’

(R-WI) signaled Wednesday that he will request Obama administration officials, including former Vice President Joe Biden, to testify in the wake of revelations that they may have sought to “unmask” communications by retired Army Lieutenant General Michael Flynn.

“Right now we’re in the information-gathering phase of this and this obviously, from my standpoint, raises a lot more questions than it actually answers,” Johnson told reporters, according to The Hill. “We will start requesting interviews with those individuals.”

“I want to find out what you were looking at, why you unmasked an American’s identity and how you used that,” the Wisconsin Republican added, before noting that he will seek interviews with former Director of National Intelligence Clapper, former CIA Director Brennan, Obama Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, and “possibly the vice president.”

Johnson’s remarks come after acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell submitted a declassified list to the Wisconsin Republican and Sen. Chuck Grassley (I-IA) of Obama administration officials who had requested names to be “unmasked” between November 8, 2016, and Jan. 31, 2017.

The commander of the Space Force’s local wing says his teams are ready for this weekend’s back-to-back rocket launches, possibly breaking a decades-old mission cadence record despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

45th Space Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Doug Schiess said Tuesday he expects about 300 people – military and civilian – to support Saturday’s launch of an Air Force X-37B spaceplane from Cape Canaveral’s Launch Complex 41. A United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket will take the 29-foot-long secretive spacecraft to orbit sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., though an exact time has not been released due to security reasons.

If X-37B flies as planned, the Space Force will turn around and support a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch with 60 Starlink internet satellites from Launch Complex 40 less than a day later.

“That would be about 20 hours, which would break our record of last August of 34 hours,” Schiess said of the mission slated to fly around 4 a.m. Sunday. “That hasn’t been broken in about 30 years.”

About 200 people, including firefighters, security, and launch support, would be on-hand for Starlink’s eighth mission. Schiess said the difference in 100 or so staff between Atlas V and Falcon 9 is due to the latter’s use of the Autonomous Flight Safety System, or AFSS, which can automatically destroy Falcon 9 rockets in the event of emergencies. Atlas V rockets require more staff in the loop because they use flight termination systems, or FTS, which require human input.

We are actively involved in three areas of research. First, we are developing efficient methods for single DNA molecule analysis with the goals of mapping whole genomes and determining the haplotypes of diploid individuals unambiguously. Second, we are applying state-of-the-art genetic tools to search for genetic factors associated with complex human traits. Third, we are bringing genetics into clinical practice in the context of risk prediction for common diseases.

Space Force News: Commander of the 21st Space Wing found dead at his home Tueday 5/13/2020 "unrelated to Corona Virus"

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) – The commander of the 21st Space Wing, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, has died. Colonel Thomas G. Falzarano was found at his home on Tuesday.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss for our Air and Space Force family,” Gen. Jay Raymond, Chief of Space Operations, said in a news release. “Tom was an incredible leader, mentor and friend who will be remembered for his warm personality and dedicated service to our nation. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to his family, friends and all members of the 21st Space Wing.”

“We were shocked to learn of the death of Colonel Falzarano,” Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers said. “Since he assumed command at Peterson, he was a great partner in working with the city on a variety of matters. As an example, he organized the rest of the area base commanders to work with the city on Coronavirus issues. This is a tremendous loss for our community and our hearts go out to his family.”

Col. Falzarano took command of the 21st Space Wing in July 2019. He was poised to be one of the top officers in the new United States Space Force.

Colonel Sam Johnson will now assume command.

Col. Falzarano was a 1994 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He had served at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq and on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. Before his posting at Peterson Air Force Base, he was the executive officer to the Commander, Air Force Space Command and the Joint force Space Component Command. He commanded Peterson Air Force Base and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, and supported four other Air Force installations around North America and Greenland.

Abstract

According to a "parasite stress" hypothesis, authoritarian governments are more likely to emerge in regions characterized by a high prevalence of disease-causing pathogens. Recent cross-national evidence is consistent with this hypothesis, but there are inferential limitations associated with that evidence. We report two studies that address some of these limitations, and provide further tests of the hypothesis. Study 1 revealed that parasite prevalence strongly predicted cross-national differences on measures assessing individuals' authoritarian personalities, and this effect statistically mediated the relationship between parasite prevalence and authoritarian governance. The mediation result is inconsistent with an alternative explanation for previous findings. To address further limitations associated with cross-national comparisons, Study 2 tested the parasite stress hypothesis on a sample of traditional small-scale societies (the Standard Cross-Cultural Sample). Results revealed that parasite prevalence predicted measures of authoritarian governance, and did so even when statistically controlling for other threats to human welfare. (One additional threat—famine—also uniquely predicted authoritarianism.) Together, these results further substantiate the parasite stress hypothesis of authoritarianism, and suggest that societal differences in authoritarian governance result, in part, from cultural differences in individuals' authoritarian personalities.

TEL AVIV—Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a rare diplomatic foray to Israel amid the coronavirus pandemic to advance the Trump administration’s Israeli-Palestinian peace plan that allows Israel to annex swaths of the West Bank, a key plank that if implemented could stir tensions within Israel and among key partners. The Trump administration in January said it would back Israel if it applies sovereignty in parts of the West Bank, one of several important points favoring Israel in its Middle East peace plan. While Palestinians have rejected the plan and the European Union is considering punitive steps toward Israel, the nation’s new unity government could begin the annexation process in July. “We’re now some months on from the day that you came to Washington when President Trump announced [the] Vision for Peace…there remains work yet to do, and we need to make progress on that,” Mr. Pompeo said in Jerusalem ahead of a meeting with Mr. Netanyahu. Mr. Netanyahu said the formation of the unity government “is an opportunity to promote peace and security based on the understanding I reached with President Trump.” The new government will be sworn in on Thursday, ending more than one year of political uncertainty after three inconclusive elections.

Mr. Netanyahu repeatedly promised to annex parts of the West Bank during more than a year of election campaigning and helped shape the Trump plan, which allows annexation to happen provided the U.S. and Israel agree on the map. In coalition talks with Benny Gantz, his former rival turned partner, Mr. Netanyahu won his agreement that Israel can begin advancing annexation on July 1. Israeli officials see a short window to make progress on the effort before the U.S. elections. Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden is a fierce critic of Israel’s settlements policy and has said he opposes any unilateral moves. Israel froze coronavirus restrictions to allow Mr. Pompeo to make the trip, his first in two months. He didn’t have to isolate and wore a mask when getting off the plane—though not when meeting Messrs. Netanyahu, Gantz or Gabi Ashkenazi, a former Israeli military chief of staff who will be the government’s foreign minister. The officials greeted each other with bows and appeared to keep several feet apart. Mr. Gantz has said he supports annexation only with the backing of the international community. He agreed to allow legislation on the matter to go forward as part of his deal to create a government with Mr. Netanyahu.

U.S. officials have said that the necessary work by a mapping committee is under way and that it can be completed by July 1. The annexation plan has been criticized by Israel’s partners in Europe. They say it departs from the long-established internationally agreed framework for a two-state solution and could allow Israel to unilaterally annex territory in the West Bank, dashing hopes for a two-state solution. Europe has urged the parties to return to negotiations. But as talks on annexation heat up, Europe is also considering a range of measures that could slash Israel’s access to European Union projects and funding if Israel presses ahead with its plan, European diplomats said.

Some member states have suggested the bloc review Israel’s access to its Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, worth billions of euros, and its Erasmus student exchange program, if annexation happens. Other options include increasing financial support to Palestinian entities in areas the bloc considers critical to enabling a two-state solution, and tightening the guidance for allowing Israeli entities in the occupied territories to receive EU grants, prizes and financial instruments, according to diplomatic notes. Mohammed Shtayyeh, prime minister of the Palestinian Authority, said Palestinian officials are watching Mr. Pompeo’s visit closely as well as the swearing in of the new Israeli government. “I hope Netanyahu and his government don’t go in this direction of annexation. If they do, this means all the agreements we have signed with Israel are finished,” he said in a roundtable discussion conducted over Zoom Tuesday evening.

WA Governor To Residents: COVID-Test-Deniers Will Not Be Allowed To Leave Home To Get Groceries

At his May 12 press conference, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee laid out the plans for the statewide contact tracing initiative.

“[The initiative] is robust, it is vigorous and it is comprehensive, and it needs to be all three to be successful,” Inslee said.

“If we do not succeed in this second stage of our efforts, this virus could come bright back and bite us.”

As LynnwoodTimes.com's Luke Putvin notes, the information Inslee provided was labeled as “Contact Tracing: Box in The Virus.” The steps were listed as follows:

Contact tracing involves interviewing people with positive COVID-19 tests to identify who they’ve been in contact with, getting those people tested and then making sure they isolate themselves and their families.

As the press conference went on, one question kept coming up - what about enforcement? How will you ensure Washington State residents comply and what if they don't?

The answer is as scary as many have worried about. As Putvin reports, for those businesses/individuals that don’t comply, the governor stated that he confirmed with Attorney General Bob Ferguson, there will be sanctions in civil or crimal court.

At timestamp 38:55 in the video of the press conference below, one reporter asked:

“When it comes to contact tracing, how are you guys going to handle people or families who want to refuse to test or to self isolate?

If they want to leave their home to get groceries I know you’ve said they can’t do that; how will you make sure they don’t?“

Below is Jay Inslee’s response:

“We will have attached to the families a family support person who will check in with them to see what they need on a daily basis... and help them. If they can’t get a friend to do their grocery shopping, we will help get them groceries in some fashion. If they need pharmaceuticals to be picked up, we will make sure they get their pharmaceuticals... That’s going to help encourage them to maintain their isolation too.

“As far as refusal, it just shouldn’t come to that, and it really hasn’t. We’ve had really good success when we ask people to isolate, and they’ve done so in really high percentages, so we’re happy about that, and we believe that will continue.”

Therefore, those individuals that refuse to cooperate with contact tracers and/or refuse testing will not be allowed to leave their homes to purchase basic necessities such as groceries and/or prescriptions.

Those persons will need to make arrangements through friends, family, or a state provided “family support personnel.”

The question, of course, is - how long before this "mandated" testing (or starve) will be re-upped to "mandated" vaccination (or starve)?

Police sergeant fired over Parkland shooting will be reinstated

A Florida officer, who was fired after 'failing to coordinate an immediate response' to the Parkland shooting in 2018 and instead cowered behind a car, will be reinstated.

Sgt Brian Miller was terminated from the Broward Sheriff’s Office in June 2019 after being suspended for several months.

During the investigation, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission found that the Broward Sheriff's Office displayed deficiencies in everything from training and command to individual performance in its response to the massacre that saw Nikolas Cruz shoot dead 14 students and three faculty members on February 14, 2018.

'Miller failed to coordinate or direct deputies’ actions and did not direct or coordinate an immediate response into the school,' a report from the commission said.

'Sergeant Miller’s actions were ineffective and he did not properly supervise the scene,' the report added.

But on Wednesday it was revealed that despite his actions that day, he will be getting his job back. Miller will be reinstated with full back pay and seniority.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, an arbitrator ruled that Miller’s due process rights were violated when he was fired and dismissed the case against him.

Liberty University, wrongly declared a virus disaster, now the ‘model’ to follow: Jerry Falwell

Despite some 750 media reports that Liberty University was writing COVID-19 death sentences for some 1,100 students returning after spring break, the Virginia Christian college recorded no cases with students on campus and is now holding itself up as the “model” to follow in the fall. After the students left for home at the end of the college school year last week, President Jerry Falwell Jr. said, “We finished this year strong — maybe even stronger than ever before because of the hard work of our administration, faculty, staff, and students who pushed through the challenges that this pandemic caused and never quit safely serving our students.” He added: “Liberty University created the model that other universities should follow for pandemics by protecting its students, faculty, and staff from COVID cases in the local community. We are thankful to God that nobody who lived in a campus residence hall or who worked in a campus office tested positive for the virus.”

The campus's clean bill of health, ignored by the media after hyping the potential for infection, wasn’t a surprise for Falwell and his team. “It shows how one-sided the American media has become, that they sound the alarm on the false narrative that there are COVID-19 cases at Liberty, and then when they find out that there were none, total silence,” Falwell told Secrets Monday. While some other schools locked the doors to dorms after spring break and as the pandemic spread, Falwell said he let 1,500 students return to dorms under strict rules of social distancing. Most returned because they had elderly parents at home they wanted to keep safe, or they didn’t have internet, or they were international students. They learned online, and eagerly, as the school logged its 100,000th “distance” student. They ordered out as the school restaurants turned to takeout meals.

Still, some, especially in the media, raised alarms that little was being done to prevent infection. But the state health department conducted two surprise inspections and found everything in order and in compliance with Gov. Ralph Northam’s rules. “All operations appeared to be in compliance with the governor’s emergency order,” said Jim Bowles, a state health manager before critical stories in the New York Times and ProPublica appeared. So alarmed, the New York Times tweeted, “Jerry Falwell Jr., president of Liberty University, reopened the school's campus last week. By Friday, nearly a dozen Liberty students were sick with symptoms that suggest Covid-19.” But there was no there there, and colleges that also let some students return to dorms were ignored by the critical media that ripped Liberty. Falwell later told Secrets of his plans to sue those two, the New York Times and ProPublica. “We’re an easy target, we’re conservative. But it’s sad that they would use something as grave as the virus that’s killing people to push their political agenda, and we decided that enough is enough,” he said.

Now, as he looks to reopening the school for classes in the fall, Falwell said that Liberty should be the model for others. He credited the small-town environment of Liberty, based in Lynchburg, Virginia. He also said that students who returned were spread out around campus and that large academic buildings were kept open for students to study in at a big social distance. Falwell also said that being in the distance-learning business for years helped to make learning online easy while some bigger schools and public education systems, notably in northern Virginia's Fairfax County, fumbled with the process. Asked about beating back the criticism of his plan made as the virus crisis was unfolding, Falwell said, “It’s good to say, ‘I told you so.’”

"The reference is to Mussaed Ahmed al-Jarrah, a mid-level Saudi Foreign Ministry official who was assigned to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C., in 1999 and 2000. His duties apparently included overseeing the activities of Ministry of Islamic Affairs employees at Saudi-funded mosques and Islamic centers within the United States.

Relatively little is known about Jarrah, but according to former embassy employees, he reported to the Saudi ambassador in the United States (at the time Prince Bandar), and that he was later reassigned to the Saudi missions in Malaysia and Morocco, where he is believed to have served as recently as last year.

Jarrah has been on the radar screen of the lawyers for the 9/11 families for some time and is among nine current or former Saudi officials who they suspect have important information about the case and have sought to either question them or get access to FBI documents that mention them.

The families have also tapped former agents to help investigate the activities of the potential witnesses, including Jarrah.

Jarrah “was responsible for the placement of Ministry of Islamic Affairs employees known as guides and propagators posted to the United States, including Fahad Al Thumairy,” according to a separate declaration by Catherine Hunt, a former FBI agent based in Los Angeles who has been assisting the families in the case.

Hunt conducted her own investigation into the support provided to the hijackers in Southern California. “The FBI believed that al-Jarrah was ‘supporting’ and ‘maintaining’ al-Thumairy during the 9/11 investigation,” she said in her declaration."

Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump, including five years as the top White House physician, has accused Obama on Tuesday of weaponizing the federal government against Trump.

Jackson tweeted, "President Obama weaponized the highest levels of our government to spy on President Trump. Every Deep State traitor deserves to be brought to justice for their heinous actions."

In April 2018, Trump nominated but quickly withdrew the nomination for Jackson to be the head of Veterans Affairs, one of the largest Cabinet agencies. The withdrawal was over accusations of misconduct, including allegations that he improperly handled prescription drugs during his White House years.

Jackson, age 53, retired from the Navy on Dec. 1, 2019, and eight days later filed to run as a Republican for Congress in Texas's 13th congressional district.

The Postal Service, a month out from its next postmaster general taking office, will also see its second-in-command leave the agency.

Deputy Postmaster General Ronald Stroman, after nine years at the Postal Service and more than 40 years in public service, will resign from the agency on June 1

According to the USPS filing to the Postal Regulatory Commission, Stroman notified the chairman of the USPS Board of Governors of his decision last Friday.

Earlier that week, the board announced former logistics executive Louis DeJoy as its pick for postmaster general. The week before, former USPS inspector general and vice president of the board, David Williams, announced his resignation.

Following Stroman’s departure, the USPS board will no longer have enough members to reach a quorum. But if that happens, it can delegate authority to a Temporary Emergency Committee, which allows the four remaining Senate-confirmed governors and the postmaster general to engage in all of the board’s normal decision-making. “At least until there’s a successor named, or until there are more governors confirmed by the Senate, the Postal Service’s Board of Governors should be able to operate as normal,” Mike Plunkett, the president and CEO of the Association for Postal Commerce, told Federal News Network.

The board will select a new deputy postmaster general based on a majority vote from the four remaining Senate-confirmed governors and the postmaster general. “It is likely that Louis DeJoy wants his own number-two in there. In fact, he may already have someone in mind,” Steidler said in an email.

During his tenure, Stroman led government affairs and international mail issues for USPS, and worked with state and local officials to oversee the expansion of vote by mail

Prior to joining the Postal Service, Stroman served as the staff director for the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. In his current job, he worked with lawmakers to develop several postal reform bills that often received bipartisan support, but never made it out of Congress.

“Ron [Stroman ] has led our communications and relationship-building with the Congress and among agencies at the federal, state, and local level, as well as efforts to educate postal stakeholders as we developed a framework for postal reform legislation,” Postmaster General Megan Brennan wrote in a memo to industry on Wednesday.

Working with the Trump administration and the State Department, Stroman negotiated profitable rates for small international packets and prevented the U.S. from leaving the Universal Postal Union last year.

Stroman also led the agency’s work in an intergovernmental strategy on electronic data for international packages, and helped law enforcement agencies detect shipments of illegal drugs.

Stroman also spearheaded strategic outreach for elections and political mail divisions as the use of vote-by-mail has increased over the past five years

With the departure of Williams and Stroman, Plunkett said the USPS Board of Governors has lost much of its institutional knowledge.

The board in June will consist of four members who have been on the job for less than two years. Meanwhile, DeJoy will be the first postmaster general in more than 20 years to lead the agency without prior experience working there. “You don’t have a lot of collective experience in postal affairs at the very top of the Postal Service,” Plunkett said. “Now, how important that is probably depends on your perspective on specific issues, but it’s certainly an unusual state of affairs.”

Brennan, the first woman to serve as the postmaster general, will step down June 15. She announced her retirement late last year, and expected to leave by end of January, but stayed on indefinitely until the board could name a successor

On Wednesday, the White House launched a new tool for people to use if they feel they’ve been wrongly censored, banned, or suspended on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

“Too many Americans have seen their accounts suspended, banned, or fraudulently reported for unclear ‘violations’ of user policies,” the site reads. “No matter your views, if you suspect political bias caused such an action to be taken against you, share your story with President Trump.”

A Twitter spokesperson responded to the new tool saying, “We enforce the Twitter Rules impartially for all users, regardless of their background or political affiliation. We are constantly working to improve our systems and will continue to be transparent in our efforts.”

Facebook, Google, and YouTube did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Over the past few months, Republicans have taken aim at social media networks, citing claims that conservatives have been wrongly censored on these platforms. Some committees, like House Energy and Commerce and Senate Judiciary, have even held hearings on the issue where lawmakers questioned officials from companies like Facebook and Twitter over the alleged bias.

The outrage started last April when the House Judiciary Committee invited pro-Trump online personalities Diamond and Silk to discuss being “censored” on social media. This spun off into the Senate where Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) later made it a key policy issue by holding a hearing with Facebook and Twitter executives to discuss the alleged bias. Only two Democrats attended the hearing where other Republicans like Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) questioned the representatives on why specific posts from their offices or from conservative films were taken down.

Just last month, President Trump met with Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey. Twitter representatives said that the meeting was supposed to focus on what the platform was doing to aid the opioid epidemic and discuss the health of the platform, but it was later reported that Trump spent a significant portion of their 30-minute discussion complaining that he was losing followers.

Other members of the Trump family, like Don Jr., have also voiced concern of the deplatforming of right-wing activists. In a tweet last month, President Trump’s eldest son wrote “The purposeful & calculated silencing of conservatives on Facebook & the rest of the Big Tech monopoly men should terrify everyone,” after Facebook announced that it would banning conspiracy theorist Alex Jones along with other far-right pundits and activists.

The tool, which is hosted on Typeform, asks users for screenshots and links of the offending content, and provides a text field where users can describe the enforcement actions taken against them. The user is also asked to choose between Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube or “other” as the platform where the offense took place. (Facebook and Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)

The tool also collects significant personal information from the user, and near the end invites users to opt into email newsletters from President Trump, “so we can update you without relying on platforms like Facebook and Twitter.” A separate question points users to an extensive user agreement, and makes clear that “you understand this form is for information gathering only.”

A later question asks the user what year the Declaration of Independence was signed “just to confirm you aren’t a robot.” This is an unorthodox anti-scripting technique, and a generally ineffective one, given the relative simplicity of automatically entering a number.

Earlier on Wednesday, the White House announced that it would not be endorsing a call from international leaders to combat online extremism as a response to the tragic white nationalist terrorist attack in Christchurch, New Zealand. In a statement, the White House said that it “was not currently in a position to join the endorsement.”

"President Trump blasted former Vice President Joe Biden after the release of a newly declassified list.

In a Thursday interview with Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo teased Wednesday, the president reacted to records from acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell that show a list of people, including Biden, who received information in response to "unmasking" requests targeting then-incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“This was all Obama. This was all Biden,” Trump said.

Sixteen of the more than 30 people on the list made requests for Flynn's identity to be unmasked, and Trump claimed it implicated Biden in what he has called "Obamagate." However, it is not yet known if Biden made one of the requests or even looked at the information.

“These people were corrupt. The whole thing was corrupt. And we caught them. We caught them,” Trump told Bartiromo.

“And what you saw just now. I watched Biden yesterday, he could barely speak. He was on Good Morning America, right? And he said he didn’t know anything about it. And now, it just gets released right after he said that, it gets released that he was one of the unmaskers, meaning he knew everything about it," he added.

Biden, during a Tuesday interview, corrected himself after initially claiming he was not aware of the FBI investigation into the retired lieutenant general."

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The head of Homeland Security took a tour of our Southern Border Wednesday. Acting Secretary, Chad Wolf, visited the San Ysidro Port of Entry to check in on how agents are adapting to the pandemic.

"Men and women of Border Patrol, I.C.E., O.F.O, T.S.A., these are the front line operators that are keeping the homeland safe," said Wolf. " They don’t have the opportunity to telecommute, they don’t have the opportunity to social distance."

Wolf says they've released 900 detainees nationally that are at risk of contracting the virus.

"Today we have less than 100 folks in custody all across the southwest border," said Wolf. "It's really quite remarkable. A year ago thousands and thousands of folks were in custody, so we’re very proud about that."

They also aren't keeping migrants in custody very long to limit the spread of the virus.

"We return those that we apprehend illegally," said Wolf. "About 80% of them we return within two hours."

FBI serves warrant on senator in investigation of stock sales linked to coronavirus

Federal agents seized a cellphone belonging to a prominent Republican senator on Wednesday night as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into controversial stock trades he made as the novel coronavirus first struck the U.S., a law enforcement official said.

Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, turned over his phone to agents after they served a search warrant on the lawmaker at his residence in the Washington area, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss a law enforcement action.

The seizure represents a significant escalation in the investigation into whether Burr violated a law preventing members of Congress from trading on insider information they have gleaned from their official work.

Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper said Thursday it is “routine” to “unmask” American citizens who have been caught up in surveillance of foreign individuals as Republicans spark an uproar over allegations that officials spied on former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“Over the six and a half almost seven years when I served as DNI I would say perhaps once or twice a week perhaps,” Clapper said on CNN when asked how frequently he would request an American’s identity to be revealed.

“It’s a routine thing. It’s appropriate and legitimate when you have a valid foreign intelligence target engaging with a U.S. person. Is it, for example, an insider, someone in the government engaging with a foreign adversary? So it’s important from the standpoint of potential jeopardy to national security that you understand what’s going on.”

Clapper was one of several Obama-era officials named on Wednesday by the Trump administration and Republican senators who they say asked for documents that led to Flynn being “unmasked” from intelligence reports between the 2016 election and President Trump’s inauguration.

Government officials typically redact the names of American citizens in intelligence reports they receive in order to protect their privacy, though it is common for officials to request that the names be revealed, or “unmasked,” to provide the government with context about the material.

Clapper maintained that officials do not know the individual who will be unmasked prior to making their request, dismissing claims that the government was working to target Flynn.

“Again, if I’d known that, there wouldn’t have been a need to ask,” he said.

Clapper requested officials “unmask” Flynn three times, though he said he does not recall what prompted his requests.

The Securities and Exchange Commission said Thursday it has filed charges against two companies for making misleading claims relating to COVID-19. The regulator said it filed a complaint against Applied Biosciences Corp. APPB, +15.00% in the federal court in the Southern District of New York, for a press release published on March 31 that said it had started offering and shipping supposed finger-prick COVID-19 tests to the general public that could be used for "Homes, Schools, Hospitals, Law Enforcement, Military, Public Servants or anyone wanting immediate and private results." The complaint alleges that the tests were not intended for home use and could be used only with the help of medical professionals, and also alleges that the company had not shipped any such tests as of March 31. The SEC filed a separate complaint against Turbo Global TRBO, +9.52% and its Chief Executive Robert Singerman in federal court in the Middle District of Florida, alleging that it issued false and misleading press releases on March 30 and April 3 regarding a purported "multi-national public-private-partnership" to sell thermal scanning equipment to detect individuals with fever. The company said the technology could play a major role in blocking transmission of the virus. "As alleged, the press releases also included statements, attributed to the CEO of Turbo Global's supposed corporate partner in the partnership, that the technology "is 99.99% accurate" and was "designed to be deployed IMMEDIATELY in each State," said the SEC. The complaint alleges that the company had no agreement to sell the product, no partnership with government entities and the CEO of the company's alleged corporate partner did not make or authorize statements attributed to him. "We are actively monitoring the markets to detect potential fraudsters who seek to use the COVID-19 crisis as a basis for investment scams," said Stephanie Avakian, Co-Director of the SEC's Division of Enforcement. House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler has demanded that Attorney General William Barr testify before Congress as soon as Washington reopens next month.

In an interview Wednesday, Nadler said he’s prepared to do whatever it takes to get Barr on the stand. He noted that he will consider issuing a subpoena.

“Now that the District of Columbia has expanded the stay-at-home order until June 8, we expect to see Barr in front of our committee on June 9th — the very next day,” stated the New York representative.

Dr. Risch, a statistical geneticist, genetic epidemiologist, and population geneticist is involved in a variety of projects of both a theoretical and applied nature. These studies include both clinical and population genetic projects. He has developed novel tools and approaches for the mapping and identification of genetic variants underlying both Mendelian and non-Mendelian diseases. For example, he contributed to the cloning of genes for torsion dystonia and hemochromatosis. He defined admixture mapping in ethnically admixed populations as a tool for gene discovery and has applied it to such diseases as hypertension and lipidemia. In collaboration with his colleague Kathleen Merikangas, he proposed genome-wide association studies as the next generation tool after linkageanalysis for identifying novel disease susceptibility variants;this approach, now applied on a large scale, has identified thousands of novel disease and trait-related genetic variants. Princess Maria Galitzine Dead at 31 From Cardiac Aneurysm

Maria Singh, neé Princess Maria Galitzine, has tragically died at 31 years old.

The daughter of Prince Piotr Galitzine and Princess Maria-Anna Galitzine, neé Archduchess of Austria, died on May 4 from a "sudden cardiac aneurysm," an obituary published by the Houston Chronicle confirmed. Her untimely passing in Houston came just days before her 32nd birthday.

As a descendant of Emperor Charles I of Austria, Maria was born in Luxembourg and later attended school as a child in Moscow, as well as the College of Art & Design in Belgium. The late royal worked in interior design and most recently lived in Houston with her husband, chef Rishi Singh.

After tying the knot in September 2017, the couple welcomed their first child, a now-2-year-old son named Maxim, who was "the apple of her eye," the obituary described.

Coronavirus Testing Program Funded By Bill Gates Is Suspended By FDA

The organizers of a virus-tracking project funded by Bill Gates, say their efforts are being paused while they deal with concerns raised by the Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA has ordered SCAN, the Seattle Coronavirus Assessment Network, to stop screening for the virus, putting the program, that has been providing hundreds of home testing kits each day, on pause.

The SCAN suspension comes just a day after Bill Gates praised the effort in his personal blog. He wrote “It has the potential to become an important tool for health officials seeking insights about the spread and behavior of the virus”

RT reports: As of Wednesday, however, all links to the project’s website redirect to a notice stating its operations are “currently paused” due to a conflict with the FDA.

“SCAN has been operating under an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Washington State Department of Health,” the notice says, adding that while the FDA has allowed states to approve new Covid-19 tests, “we have been notified that under revised guidance issued on May 8th, a separate federal EUA is now required” to continue testing.

The FDA has requested additional information about SCAN’s at-home nasal swabs, and seeks clarification on the project’s testing of “people who have not reported Covid-like illness.” While the notice offered no timetable for when testing might go back online, it noted that SCAN is “actively working” to address the FDA’s concerns and has been in contact with the agency since March.

Spearheaded by five Seattle-area healthcare organizations, the program, according to Gates, was meant to create a coronavirus surveillance system by testing “a sample of people in the Seattle region” – both sick and healthy – in hopes of gaining insight into how the illness is “moving through the community, who is at greatest risk, and whether physical distancing measures are working.”

The key advantage of this at-home testing approach is that people don’t need to go to a clinic, where they risk exposing themselves or others to infection.

Though the FDA has given no indication that the SCAN project is linked to fraud, the agency has gone on high alert after a rush of fly-by-night coronavirus testing services emerged across the US, many offering faulty or outright fake test kits. With such schemes becoming more prevalent, the FDA, FBI, CDC and a number of other federal agencies have issued public warnings to consumers.

Despite ramped up testing around the country – over 9.6 million have been carried out in the US, according to Johns Hopkins University – public health officials continue to sound alarms about inadequate supplies, arguing states should not consider reopening without widespread screenings in place. With SCAN out of commission, at least temporarily, that goal has only been pushed further out of reach.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, UCSF Chancellor Sue Desmond-Hellmann and UCSF scientist Neil Risch met to discuss how the federal economic stimulus package has infused much-need resources to UCSF, small businesses and the City of San Francisco.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi heard firsthand this week how the federal economic stimulus package, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), is creating jobs, spurring scientific research, improving public safety and transportation and supporting small businesses in San Francisco.

Pelosi hosted a roundtable discussion and news conference on Wednesday at UCSF to celebrate and communicate the success of the $787 billion stimulus program, one year after President Barack Obama signed the bill into law on Feb. 17, 2009.

“This is a very special day for us because we worked very hard to put together this recovery package,” Pelosi said. “Our country was on the brink of falling into a deeper national recession.”

Since the stimulus bill was passed, the number of jobs lost in the US has decreased significantly—from 741,000 jobs lost last year to 21,000 jobs lost during the same month, Pelosi said. Asked about California’s high 12.6 percent unemployment rate, Pelosi noted that the state has its own significant budget challenges, but is getting relief from the recovery act totaling nearly $90 billion that has either been distributed or allocated.

During a roundtable panel discussion, which was moderated by UCSF Chancellor Sue-Desmond-Hellmann, MD, MPH, and included Mayor Gavin Newsom, as well as others from San Francisco’s private and public sector, Pelosi asked for specific examples of how the stimulus funding is being used in San Francisco.

Desmond-Hellmann said the stimulus funds will help University scientists conduct “biomedical research that literally will change the world.”

“The funds have enabled the University to retain scientists, enhance its research infrastructure, train the next generation of scientists, conduct leading-edge research, and uncover new knowledge to improve human health,” she said.

UCSF has been awarded 256 grants totaling $117.8 million as of Feb. 16, making the campus one of the top institutional recipients of this stimulus-based scientific funding. As of year-end, UCSF has received $5.756 million of those funds, enabling UCSF to retain or create 568 jobs in research or associated areas.

The infusion of resources comes at a critical time for UCSF, which is one of 10 campuses of the University of California and the only campus dedicated solely to graduate and professional education in the health sciences. With shrinking state funds, UCSF has increasingly relied upon extremely competitive NIH funding to drive its research, which consistently ranks among the top in the nation in caliber across research areas.

Investing in the Future

Neil Risch, PhD, director of the UCSF Institute for Human Genetics, shared a $25 million grant with Kaiser Permanente to fund the research and creation of the largest genetic health care database ever undertaken. The project will enable scientists to conduct a genome-wide analysis of DNA samples from 100,000 Kaiser member volunteers and connecting that genomic information with actual health outcomes over the past 20 to 40 years, with the goal of ultimately improving upon personalized health care.

“This is an unprecedented opportunity for a large number of scientists around the world to better understand age-related diseases and it’s an investment for the future,” Risch said.

He noted that the stimulus funding, plus a $9 million donation from Kaiser, will finance the construction of a data center that otherwise would not have been possible and will create additional jobs.

University leaders from across the US and UC system are praising the $10.4 billion provided by the recovery act to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to help pay for scientific research and development, the purchase of new equipment and science-related construction projects.

Director of National Intelligence 'deeply saddened' by Mattis resignation

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said Friday that he was "deeply saddened" by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis's announcement on Thursday that he plans to retire early next year.

"The experience and sound judgement that Secretary Mattis has brought to our decision-making process is invaluable," Coats said in a statement. "His leadership of our military won the admiration of our troops and respect of our allies and adversaries."

Coats's statement comes one day after Mattis unexpectedly offered his resignation to President Donald Trump, criticizing the president's often antagonistic military and foreign policies and writing that the president has a "right to have a secretary of defense whose views are better aligned with yours." The president earlier this week announced plans to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria, a decision made against the advice of Mattis and other national security advisers.

Mattis, a retired four-star Marine Corps general, will stay on until through the end of February.

Coats wrote that he "had the unique privilege" to work with Mattis through the national security team, and was "deeply saddened to learn the news."

An outgoing Republican lawmaker says he will buck his party to vote for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s coronavirus stimulus package, a bill that includes a slate of progressive measures.

New York Rep. Peter King told to The Hill Wednesday that he plans to vote for House Democrats’s HEROES Act, a $3 trillion relief package for Americans suffering financially from the coronavirus pandemic. The bill has been criticized by some Republicans as a “liberal wishlist” that has no chance of passing.

Pelosi’s legislation, for example, would make illegal aliens eligible for economic assistance, gives protections for sanctuary cities, and allegedly paves the way for coronavirus funds to end up in Planned Parenthood’s coffers. King, who represents a New York district hit hard by the viral outbreak, said he is looking past the measures he disagrees with because his constituents stand to benefit from the bill.

“In some ways it’s a tough decision and in some ways it’s an easy decision,” King said to The Hill on Wednesday.

“Look, I disagree with a lot of things that are in that bill: some of the provisions involving illegal immigrants, some of the absentee ballots, the mail, all that stuff. But the fact is, to me, [Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell sort of laid it down … he’s talking about no federal aid to state and local governments,” he explained.

“New York is going to die, my county, Nassau County, [and] Suffolk County is also in my district; not only are they running up tremendous cost, their revenue losses are unbelievable,” King said.

President Trump is set to name a former pharmaceutical executive to lead his administration’s all-out effort to produce and distribute a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year.

Moncef Slaoui, a former GlaxoSmithKline executive, will lead Operation Warp Speed, Trump’s push to accelerate the development of a vaccine for COVID-19, according to an administration official. Slaoui is to serve in a volunteer capacity, and will be assisted by Army Gen. Gustave Perna, the head of United States Army Materiel Command.

The move comes as the president and White House aides hope to produce vaccines for the coronavirus more quickly than what many scientists believe is realistic. The administration is aiming to have 300 million doses to distribute to Americans by the end of the year, believing a reliable vaccine is the only way to promote an economic rebound.

Operation Warp Speed is operating largely independently of the existing White House coronavirus task force, which is also shifting its focus toward vaccine development.

Chunks of China's Powerful Rocket Fall Back to Earth, Narrowly Missing NYC

The large core stage of China's Long March 5B rocket reentered Earth's atmosphere and plummeted out of control to the surface earlier this week. At 100 feet long and 16 feet wide, it's the largest piece of space junk to fall uncontrolled from low-Earth orbit in almost 30 years.

Initial reports suggested the almost 20-ton rocket stage had fallen into the Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of Africa. But new reports from social media and some African news organizations suggest pieces of the rocket may have been strewn across parts of Cote d'Ivoire.

The heavy-lift rocket, which was carrying China's prototype crew capsule, successfully launched from Wenchang launch center on Hainan Island off the country's southern coast.

Trump is mobilizing the United States military so a vaccine for a new coronavirus can be widely distributed once it's ready for widespread use.

Trump told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo in an interview that aired Thursday morning that his administration is operating under the assumption the vaccine will be ready by the end of the year. Inoculation is key to resuming a fully normal life, according to multiple officials, and Trump said failing to make distribution plans could cause a delay in people receiving the vaccine.

"It's a massive job to give this vaccine," Trump told Bartiromo. "Our military is now being mobilized so that at the end of the year we'll be able to give it to a lot of people very, very rapidly."

Phase I clinical trials are being conducted with "many" vaccine candidates, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Phase II trials should begin in late spring or early summer and by late fall or early winter, Fauci expects officials to know if the three trials were successful. To avoid a supply and demand problem, Fauci told senators during a hearing on Tuesday that America will start proactively producing a vaccine if the Phase I trial shows it's a viable option.

The White House is also working on ensuring there are enough syringes to administer the vaccine, according to the president. The president told Bartiromo most of the population will receive the vaccine, but priority focus will be on the elderly, including those in nursing homes and senior citizen centers, because of how vulnerable the demographic has proven to be during the outbreak.

This is a story of another time, of a plausible future 30 years from now, give or take, in which the human experience of life and health (and perhaps even of who we are) will unfold unlike anything known before. The citizens of this future will learn early in life – through some combination of next-next-next-generation genetic testing and intelligence gleaned from their smart accessories – whether they are heading toward disease: depression, dementia, diabetes, what have you. More importantly, they will be offered an exit strategy.

Some future citizens will take a familiar route: medications, behavioral therapies, or lifestyle modifications. But for others, the path to well-being will require novel interventions. For example, those genetically predisposed to certain disorders might opt to get any risky DNA snipped out of their genes or rewritten. Those with neurological diagnoses, meanwhile, might be prescribed a brain implant – a clingwrap-like electrical film laid on the brain’s surface, perhaps, or a network of thinner-than-hair wires snaked within its anatomy, to keep its neural circuits firing properly.

One might think, assuming these procedures have been shown to work safely and well, that future societies will have everything to gain and little to lose. Who wouldn’t divert the course of their own health, or their children’s, to avoid suffering down the road? And yet our neurons and our DNA are more than the origins of illness. They are also the substrates of our being: our identity, our humanity, arguably consciousness itself. Once we begin to manipulate these elements for medical purposes, do we not risk altering who we are?

If a gene therapy or brain implant erased, say, a person’s propensity for depression, would it also erase possibly related facets of their personality, such as introversion, pensiveness, or melancholia? Would they recognize strange thoughts or behaviors as side effects or mistake these changes for a “new normal”? And if they chose not to have these treatments, or couldn’t afford them, would they be passed over for jobs, for health insurance, for social acceptance? Who would they be? Would they still be themself?

During President Trump’s impeachment, former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch testified to Congress that she knew little beyond an initial briefing and “press reports” about Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian natural gas firm that had hired Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter and was dogged by a corruption investigation.

“It just wasn’t a big deal,” she declared under oath on Oct. 11, 2019.

But newly unearthed State Department memos obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show Yovanovitch’s embassy in Kiev, including the ambassador herself, was engaged in several discussions and meetings about Burisma as the gas firm scrambled during the 2016 election and transition to settle a long-running corruption investigation and polish its image before President Trump took office.

Yovanovitch, for instance, was specifically warned in an email by her top deputy in September 2016 — three years before her testimony — that Burisma had hired an American firm with deep Democratic connections called Blue Star Strategies to “rehabilitate the reputation” of the Ukrainian gas firm and that it had placed “Hunter Biden on its board,” the memos show.

The discussions about Burisma inside Yovanovitch’s embassy were so extensive, in fact, that they filled more than 160 pages of emails, memos and correspondence in fall 2016 alone, according to the State Department records obtained under FOIA by the conservative group Citizens United.

The contacts included a detailed private letter hand-delivered to Yovanovitch by one of Burisma’s lawyers in September 2016, a briefing later that month from her staff on Burisma’s issues, and a meeting scheduled between the ambassador and a Burisma representative shortly before Christmas 2016 as the Obama administration was preparing to leave office.

Yovanovitch, who recently retired from State, did not respond Tuesday to a message sent to her private email seeking comment. Her lawyer during the impeachment proceedings, Lawrence S. Robbins, also did not respond to an emailed request for comment.

State officials declined comment.

US-Backed Forces Seize Syrian Commercial Bank In Oil-Rich Northeast Province

U.S.-backed forces have seized a Syrian Commercial Bank branch in the Al-Hasakah Governorate, as they expelled all the employees inside the building and established full control over the site. The Syrian Commercial Bank is the largest commercial bank in Syria and is state-owned, headquartered in Damascus. Since 2011 it's been under US and EU sanctions.

According to a field report, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), alongside the U.S. Coalition, attacked the main building of the Syrian Commercial Bank branch of the government located within the gathering of official departments in the southern section of Ghuweiran District, at the entrance of Al-Zohour neighborhood in Hasakah city. “The building that was controlled by the SDF is located near the Industrial Prison, the Industrial Secondary School, and the Industrial Institute,” a source told Sputnik Arabic.

The southern section of the Al-Ghuweiran District is where the Industrial Prison is located; this is the same jail that the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) broke out of earlier this month.

The U.S. Coalition and SDF reportedly expelled government officials and students from the Tourism Directorate building, which also includes the hotel’s tourist high school and the Technical Institute for Tourist and Hotel Sciences in the Al-Zuhour neighborhood of Al-Hasakah.

The Commercial Bank building and the Tourism Directorate building were captured by the SDF troops in August of 2016 after attacking the sites of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). However, following the implementation of the Hmeimim Agreement last year, the building was returned to the Syrian government, which allowed the bank to resume its work.

These developments come amid the arrival of military and logistical reinforcements for the U.S. military to its bases in the governorates of Al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor.

Meanwhile University of Oklahoma professor and expert on the region Joshua Landis highlighted the words of US special envoy to Syria James Jeffrey this week as follows: "He pledged that the United States will continue to deny Syria - international funding, reconstruction, oil, banking, agriculture & recognition of government."

German intelligence exposes Muslim Brotherhood’s plan to undermine Germany

An internal intelligence report from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) in state of Bavaria has warned of the growing security threat posed by Muslim Brotherhood.

The report states that Muslim Brotherhood in Germany seeks to establish a comprehensive system of government which does not guarantee the sovereignty of the people, the principles of freedom, or equality.

Transforming German society

In its report, the BfV added that “the Brotherhood’s primary goal is to form a system of government and many of the Muslim Brotherhood’s principles are hostile to the German Constitution, especially the principles of democracy, the rule of law and a political system based on human dignity.”

The report emphasizes that the essence of the Brotherhood’s anti-constitution principles and goals are stipulated in the “general system of the Muslim Brotherhood,” the general rules of the Muslim Brotherhood which were put forward by first generation of the founding fathers and Hassan al-Banna (the founder of the group in Egypt in the 1920s).

The report also notes that “the Islamic Community Organization is the basic organizational structure of the Muslim Brotherhood in Germany, and this organization is a member of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe, which is the mother organization of the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe, and is based in Brussels.”

“Samir Falah, the former president of the German Islamic Society, was elected president of the Federation of Islamic Organizations in Europe in 2018,” reflecting the strength of the Muslim Brotherhood branch in Germany.

Organizations affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood are dangerous

The intelligence report warns of another umbrella organization in Europe, the European council for fatwa and research, which was established in 1997 in Dublin, Ireland, and aims to control the fatwa for Muslims residing in Europe. Yusuf al-Qaradawi is considered the spiritual leader of the group.

“The Muslim Brotherhood is trying publicly to demonstrate openness, tolerance, and a desire to dialogue with governments and political institutions, but the group aims to replace the existing system with its own system,” the report reads.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has “monitored the sympathy of the supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood with terrorists (such as ISIS terrorists) on social media.”

The report identified the Islamic Center in Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria, and the Islamic Group in Nuremberg, as the most important organizations operating under the banner of the Islamic Society Organization in the state.

Unions representing New York City police officers have demanded the dismissal of the city’s health commissioner after she scoffed at a request to provide the force with surgical masks amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Oxiris Barbot refused to provide the city’s police with 500,000 masks as Covid-19 began to spread in March, telling a high-ranking law enforcement official, NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan: “I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops.” The conversation, first reported by the New York Post, was confirmed to the media by the NYC Health Department. Barbot has since apologized to Monahan for her remarks, the department said, describing the crude utterance as a “heated exchange.”

Her atonement has not satisfied the city’s police unions, however. The Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York condemned her “despicable and unforgivable” slight against the force. In a fiery message posted to Twitter, the group said the commissioner should be forced to “look in the eye of every police family who lost a hero to this virus.”
