Secret U.S.-Iran Deal Paved The Way For New Iraqi PM – Report

A secret deal between the U.S. and Iran has paved the way for Mustafa al-Kadhimi to become Iraq’s Prime Minister, the Middle East Eye reported on March 14 citing an Iraqi political source with knowledge on the matter.

The source told the UK-based outlet the U.S. policy of exerting “maximum pressure” on Iran will not change. However, Washington agreed under the secret deal to de-escalate militarily in the Gulf and to “look the other way” if a third-party country in Europe released some of Iran’s frozen money.

In return, Iran told Shiite factions in Iraq to approve al-Kadhimi as the country’s new Prime Minister, which they did in the parliament on May 7.

“The Americans managed to get their man, and the Iranians to get their money,” a source told the Middle East Eye, adding “The economic hardship that Iranians have faced, and all the difficulties they faced after the assassination of Qassam Soleimani, has hit them hard. There were negotiations. The deal ended with the Iranians accepting this guy [Kadhimi] and they told their allies to vote for him.”

Al-Kadhimi, a former director of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS), is well-known for his close ties with U.S. intelligence.

His candidacy for the premiership was challenged by Shiite factions prior to the U.S.-Iran deal. Iran-affiliated Kata’ib Hezbollah even accused al-Kadhimi of taking part in the U.S. drone strike which killed Iran Quds Force commander Qassam Soleimani and Iraqi leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

According to the Middle East Eye, Iraqi sources declined to reveal the Iranian assets which would be unfrozen under the new deal. However, they pointed to a decision by a court in Luxembourg to block a U.S. request to transfer $1.6bn in Iranian assets to victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Iran welcomed the decision, which was taken last month, calling it a victory. It remains unclear, however, if any of the frozen assets were later released.

Secret deals between the U.S. and Iran are nothing new. Nevertheless, the deal on Iraq, if true, highlights the failure of Washington’s “maximum pressure” campaign on Tehran.

Kurdish Forces Carry Out New Attacks Against Turkish Military And Its Proxies In Northern Aleppo

On May 15, the Afrin Liberation Forces (ALF) announced that their units had carried out a series of attacks against Turkish forces in northern Aleppo.

In an official statement, the Kurdish group said its fighters targeted on May 13 a gathering of vehicles carrying Turkish-backed militants in Afrin city with an improvised explosive device (IED). Two vehicles were destroyed and another was damaged. Two militants were also injured

Also on May 13, ALF fighters carried out two “special operations” in the town of Azaz killing four militants and injuring three others.

On May 14, the ALF targeted positions of the Turkish military in the town of Kimare in southern Afrin. The group shared a video of its fighters destroying a crawler excavator near Kimare with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).

The ALF said two Turkish service members were killed and three others were injured in Kimare attack. However, this is yet to be confirmed.

In the last few weeks, the ALF carried out dozens of attacks on Turkish forces in northern Aleppo. The Turkish military and its proxies limited their response to few artillery strikes on Kurdish areas south of Afrin.

Nolte: PBS Uncovers More Alleged Victims of Joe Biden’s Unwanted Touching

The far-left PBS NewHour interviewed 74 former Joe Biden staffers and uncovered even more women who claim to be victims of the former vice president’s unwanted and inappropriate touching.

These alleged victims are in addition to Biden’s eight accusers and the female Secret Service agents who say Biden exposed himself to them (without their consent) while swimming in the nude almost daily.

To the surprise of no one, however, even with these bombshell revelations, PBS still tries to exonerate Biden and attack Tara Reade — who has credibly accused Biden of a 1993 sexual assault — as a liar.

PBS glosses over its own bombshell findings of further misconduct by Biden, and does so by way of an over-written, exhausting 3,500-word piece of “BenSmithing.” So what you have here is the taxpayer-funded welfare queens at PBS using new evidence of unwanted and inappropriate touching to smear an alleged assault victim who has seven pieces of corroborating evidence.

To save you from having to read through PBS’s interminable piece of victim-shaming propaganda (that reads exactly like those 1990s media attacks on all of Bill Clinton’s victims), I went ahead and filtered out the real news in the piece, the actual bombshells PBS wrist-flicks to protect an alleged sexual predator because Orange Man Bad.

We’ll start with my favorite…[emphasis added]

Ah, so the real news here is that not every former Biden staffer said they believe Reade’s allegation is false.

Here’s the rest… [emphasis added]

Yet Biden, now the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee, was also a toucher, seemingly oblivious to whether physical contact made some women uncomfortable.

“We knew that about Biden,” Byrne said. “He was always massaging somebody’s shoulders. But never anything more than that. There was no vibe about him.”

However, staffers agree it was not in Biden’s nature to gauge social signals about whether someone wanted to be hugged or touched.

A former staffer said that when Biden does things like stroking women’s hair, there’s a complicated dynamic at play.

For others, Biden’s touching evoked some regret. “There were times as I now look back that I think we messed up. We should have said something about that,” a different former staffer said. “We probably should have recognized that made people uncomfortable.”

So what you have here — all in an effort to protect a powerful male Democrat — is PBS attempting to normalize his behavior, to say it was okay, even in 1993 — which, by the way, was two years after Anita Hill was supposed to have enlightened creeps like Rapey Joe about this kind of stuff.

Listen, I’m 54 years old and I’ve been working since I was 14; never once have I stroked a coworker’s hair, never once have I sniffed a coworker’s hair, never once have I given a coworker an unwanted kiss — not on the lips, the cheek, or the back of the head. Not even during the pre-Anita Hill era I like to call the go-go 80s.

In fact, in all the decades I’ve been in the workforce, in all the places I’ve worked, and all the people I’ve worked with, I don’t know of a single soul who has done any of the things Biden’s done for decades, and this especially includes what Biden’s done to children.

I’m sorry, but Joe Biden is a sex creep, and no amount of wishcasting, BenSmithing, and rationalization from PBS welfare queens can change the basic fact that they just uncovered even more examples of a powerful man touching female subordinates inappropriately.

And riddle me this, PBS welfare queens…

Google Shares Tumble On Reports Of Imminent Antitrust Lawsuit

While bulls had comforted themselves that amid a "work from home" pandemic lockdown, any regulatory actions against the mega-tech firms would likely be put on hold, it appears that is not the fact.

The Wall Street Journal reports that both the Justice Department and a group of state attorneys general are likely to file antitrust lawsuits against Alphabet's Google - and are well into planning for litigation.

According to people familiar with the matter, The Justice Department is moving toward bringing a case as soon as this summer.

The timeline confirms AG Barr's previous comments in March that he wanted the Justice Department to make a final call this summer. “I’m hoping that we bring it to fruition early summer,” Mr. Barr said at the time.

“And by fruition I mean, decision time.”

Much of the states’ investigation has focused on Google’s online advertising business.

Mr. Paxton, Texas AG, said the pandemic was not slowing the states’ efforts.

“We’ve issued [civil subpoenas] to Google and impacted third parties. We hope to have the investigation wrapped up by fall,” Mr. Paxton said in a statement.

“If we determine that filing is merited we will go to court soon after that.”

BlackRock Begins Buying Junk Bond ETFs for the Fed Today: It’s Already at Work for the Central Bank of Israel

It’s off to the races today for BlackRock. The New York Fed, with authority from the Federal Reserve Board and backstopped with taxpayers’ money, will begin the first phase of the Fed’s unprecedented leap into shoring up the sagging prices of investment grade corporate debt and junk bonds. BlackRock has been selected by the New York Fed to be the investment manager for these bailout facilities and will begin Phase I today by buying up Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) containing investment grade corporate bonds as well as junk bonds. Making the situation particularly dicey is that BlackRock just happens to be one of the largest purveyors of said ETFs.

The screaming conflict-of-interest that this raises in the minds of many is not ruffling any feathers at the New York Fed (which is itself a bundle of conflicts wrapped in a fraud monetization spigot that creates money out of thin air.) The New York Fed has swiftly dismissed this problem with the following language in its Investment Management Agreement with BlackRock:

“The Manager shall treat BlackRock-sponsored ETFs on the same neutral footing as ETFs sponsored by other entities…If the holdings of BlackRock-sponsored ETFs by the Company at any time exceeds or is expected to exceed the then-current market share of BlackRock-sponsored ETFs in the corporate bond ETF market on average (calculated with reference to the most recently ended calendar month), the Manager will notify the Company and consult with the FRBNY, as managing member of the Company, to review the holdings of the Company and implement such adjustments as the FRBNY may direct.”

The New York Fed’s answer to teetering highly-leveraged corporate debt is to set up a highly-leveraged bailout facility run by Wall Street insider, BlackRock, which is also managing U.S. securities purchases for the central bank of Israel.

REPORTS: North Korea Ousts Intelligence Director, Kim Jong Un’s Long-Running Head Of Security

North Korea has reportedly ousted the director of its top intelligence agency as well as Kim Jong Un’s long-running head of security.

The Korea Herald reported that Jang Kil-song will be replaced as leader of the Reconnaissance General Bureau (RGB), North Korea’s military intelligence agency, by Lt. General Rim Kwang-il, according to leaks on a Wednesday report from Seoul’s Unification Ministry.

Leaks out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are notoriously unreliable; however, numerous DPRK watchers have reported on the personnel shuffle, as well as the New York Post.

The RGB is known to be North Korea’s top agency for espionage, clandestine operations, cyber warfare and other “high-profile attacks” typically carried out against South Korea, Japan and the United States, according to the Herald. Seoul believes the agency was responsible for attacks on a South Korean naval vessel that killed 46 sailors, the report said.

No reason has been given for the switch, but Rim was recently appointed as a member of the Central Military Commission of the ruling Worker’s Party.

It’s also believed that the general in charge of protecting Kim Jong Un and his family since 2010, Gen. Yun Jong-rin, was replaced last April by Kwak Chang-sik as the new Supreme Guard commander, according to KBS World.

These reports have come to light following rumors over the Supreme Leader’s health after he uncharacteristically vanished from his typical appearances at numerous key national events. He reappeared at a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 1 for the opening of a new fertilizer plant, but that appears to have sparked further rumors over whether it was actually him.

Key MH17 Suspect Detained in East Ukraine: BBC Russia

A key suspect in the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was detained on unrelated charges in eastern Ukraine around the time the murder trial against the MH17 suspects started in the Netherlands this spring, BBC Russia reported Thursday.

Former field commander Leonid Kharchenko, 47, is the only Ukrainian passport-holder among four suspects named by the Dutch-led investigation into the tragedy that killed all 298 people on board flight MH17 in July 2014. The other three are Russian nationals who, like Kharchenko, are expected to be tried in absentia.

Pro-Russian authorities in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic arrested Kharchenko near his home on March 11, BBC Russia cited an unnamed former commander who had served with Kharchenko as saying. He was reportedly charged with illegal possession of firearms and an illegal search.

The MH17 trial began on March 9.

Former fellow soldiers say they believe that the pro-Russian authorities pressed what they call “ridiculous” charges against Kharchenko in order to shield him from a kidnapping attempt by Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities, who are engaged in a six-year war with Russian-backed separatists in the country's east, charged Kharchenko in 2015 with creating a terrorist group.

Ukrainian security services kidnapped a key MH17 witness last year, only for him to be handed over to Russia as part of a high-profile prisoner swap.

One BBC Russian source, who us familiar with the case, said the accusations are 'ridiculous' - illegal possession of weapons and participation in an illegal search in 2014

“Kharchenko lived a quiet life in Donetsk and didn’t suspect that this could happen to him,” BBC Russia quoted an unnamed former fellow soldier as saying. “Perhaps they’re guarding him in this cruel way, but it’s a very strange way of securing a person.”

Kharchenko is reportedly being held in a Donetsk justice ministry detention center. Authorities extended his arrest by two months last Friday, according to BBC Russia.

Dutch-led prosecutors accuse Kharchenko and the three Russian suspects of playing central roles in transporting and launching the Buk missile system that brought down the plane.

Russia denies any role in the downing of MH17.

Judges at a March hearing in the Netherlands adjourned the MH17 trial until June 8 to give defense lawyers more time to prepare.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, officials at the Justice Department and a group of state attorneys general are focused on Google’s ad business and how it has used its search monopoly. According to the WSJ, the DOJ is planning to bring a case as early as this summer, while state AGs are likely to file a case in the fall.

The Wall Street Journal reports that both the Justice Department and a group of state attorneys general are likely to file an antitrust lawsuits against Google and have already begun to plan litigation according to sources with knowledge of the matter.

The Justice Department is reportedly planning to bring a case as early as this summer. A large group of state attorneys general, led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republicans, will also reportedly file a case in the fall.

The WSJ writes:

Much of the states’ investigation has focused on Google’s online advertising business. The company owns the dominant tool at every link in the complex chain between online publishers and advertisers. The Justice Department likewise is making Google’s ad technology one of its points of emphasis. But it is also focusing more broadly on concerns that Google uses its dominant search business to stifle competition, people familiar with the matter said.

Details about the Justice Department’s legal theories for a case against Google couldn’t be learned.

Though the coronavirus pandemic has complicated work for the Justice Department, Attorney General William Barrhas devoted considerable resources to the Google probe and continues to treat it as a top priority. Mr. Barr told The Wall Street Journal in March that he wanted the Justice Department to make a final call this summer. “I’m hoping that we bring it to fruition early summer,” Mr. Barr said at the time. “And by fruition I mean, decision time.”

Paxton stated that the pandemic was not slowing the states’ efforts, saying in a statement: “We’ve issued [civil subpoenas] to Google and impacted third parties. We hope to have the investigation wrapped up by fall. If we determine that filing is merited we will go to court soon after that.”

A Google spokesperson said in a statement: “We continue to engage with the ongoing investigations led by the Department of Justice and Attorney General Paxton, and we don’t have any updates or comments on speculation. Our focus is firmly on providing services that help consumers, support thousands of businesses and enable increased choice and competition.”

The department is reportedly gathering further information in its probe and will likely be bringing a case but both the federal and state investigations are ongoing and no final decisions have been made.

Google was fined $1.7 billion for antitrust violations by European Union officials in 2019. The firm was also fined a record $5 billion in 2018 over the dominance of its Android mobile operating system, and in 2017 Google was fined $2.7 billion for practices relating to its shopping service.

Acting DNI Ric Grenell Announces the FBI Will No Longer be Giving Intelligence-Based Threat Briefings to Candidates

Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell on Friday announced major changes to election security briefings.

Grenell announced the US Intel Community (IC) will lead all intelligence-based threat briefings to candidates, campaigns, and political organizations.

This change represents an important improvement and simplification to the threat notification process. Chinese-Born Researcher at Cleveland Clinic Accused of Fraud, Links to Espionage

The FBI announced on Thursday that it has arrested Dr. Qing Wang, a longtime employee of the famed Cleveland Clinic, on charges of fraud for accepting grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) without disclosing that he was simultaneously working for a Chinese university.

“This is not a case of simple omission. Dr. Wang deliberately failed to disclose his Chinese grants and foreign positions and even engaged in a pervasive pattern of fraud to avoid criminal culpability,” said Eric B. Smith, FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cleveland office.

“As alleged in the complaint, this defendant misled the National Institutes of Health about support he received and research he conducted in the People’s Republic of China,” said Justin Herdman, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. “Federal law enforcement remains vigilant to fraudulent claims for grant support from any researcher who fails to disclose support from foreign governments and competing research interests in other countries.”

Robert R. Wells, Acting Assistant Director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division, made the espionage connection, saying, “As this case demonstrates, Chinese government-supported talent plans continue to encourage people, regardless of nationality, to commit crimes, such as fraud to obtain U.S. taxpayer-funded research.”

Wells was referring to China’s Thousand Talents Program, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) initiative to recruit promising foreign academics who can give Communist China access to the best science and technology developed by free nations. The Thousand Talents Program is under aggressive investigation by the FBI and Congress. The FBI has described the program as “nontraditional espionage.”

Dr. Wang was born in China but has been a naturalized U.S. citizen since 2005. He has been associated with the Thousand Talents Program since 2008. A specialist in genetics, neurology, and cardiovascular disease, he was affiliated with Cleveland Clinic from 1997, until the clinic fired him for failing to disclose his Chinese connections.

“Cleveland Clinic has cooperated fully with the NIH and with federal law enforcement as they conducted their own investigations into these same subjects and will continue to do so,” the clinic said in a statement quoted by Reuters on Thursday.

According to the FBI criminal complaint against Wang, he received about $3.6 million in grants from NIH without disclosing that he also held the position of dean at the College of Life Sciences and Technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in China. Some of the grants Wang obtained from NIH were for the same research he was conducting at HUST, with funding from Communist China’s Natural Science Foundation (CNSF).

Furthermore, as a result of Wang’s alleged membership in the Thousand Talents Program, the Chinese government provided $3 million in support for his operations at HUST, along with free travel and lodging during his trips to China, including the use of a three-bedroom apartment on the HUST campus.

Prosecutors charged that Wang’s failure to disclose his activities at HUST, an omission he made every year between 2014 and 2017, was a violation of the terms of the grants he received from NIH. The FBI also challenged Wang’s denials of receiving money from the Thousand Talents Program.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, applauded the FBI investigation on Thursday, along with other recent actions against academics affiliated with American universities who failed to disclose their ties to Thousand Talents and other Chinese Communist programs.

“I’m pleased that our committee investigation and resulting report last year has spurred additional action by federal law enforcement to hold China accountable. For too long, China has exploited the lack of transparency in our education system to steal our taxpayer-funded research and innovation and the federal government has done little or nothing to stop it,” said Portman, who pledged to introduce legislation to “safeguard American innovation” and hold foreign powers such as China accountable for efforts to steal it.

Federal Grand Jury Returns Indictment Charging Pakistani Doctor with Attempting to Provide Material Support to ISIS

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers and U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Erica H. MacDonald today announced that a federal grand jury sitting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, returned a single-count indictment against Muhammad Masood, 28, charging him with attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Masood, who was initially charged in a criminal complaint on March 19, 2020, is currently in custody pending further court proceedings.

According to the indictment and documents filed in court, Masood, a licensed medical doctor in Pakistan, was formerly employed as a Research Coordinator at a medical clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, under an H-1B Visa. Between January 2020 and March 2020, Masood made several statements to others, including pledging his allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) and its leader, and expressing his desire to travel to Syria to fight for ISIS. Masood also expressed his desire to conduct “lone wolf” terrorist attacks in the United States. On Feb. 21, 2020, Masood purchased a plane ticket from Chicago, Illinois to Amman, Jordan, and from there planned to travel to Syria. On March 16, 2020, Masood’s travel plans changed because Jordan closed its borders to incoming travel due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Masood made a new plan to fly from Minneapolis to Los Angeles to meet up with an individual who he believed would assist him with travel via cargo ship to deliver him to ISIS territory.

On March 19, 2020, Masood traveled from Rochester to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to board a flight bound for Los Angeles, California. Upon arrival at MSP, Masood checked in for his flight and was subsequently arrested by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

This case is the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew R. Winter and Timothy C. Rank, with assistance from Trial Attorney Katie Sweeten of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.

The charges contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Beijing Hands Scientists Top Award for Nuclear Missile It’s Never Admitted to Building

The engineers behind a new generation of submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) will receive China’s top science prize. However, the Ministry of National Defense has never directly admitted that the missile in question, the JL-3, even exists.

The JL-3, or “Big Wave,” is believed to have been designed for the People’s Liberation Army Navy’s new Type 096 nuclear submarine and first tested in 2018. The missile has a purported range of 7,450 miles, enabling it to hit the United States if fired from the Chinese coast - much further away than the missile’s predecessor, the JL-2, which had a still-impressive 5,000-mile range.

Now, the missile’s designers have been tapped for the National Award for Excellence in Innovation, given to China’s greatest scientific achievers, even though the missile’s development is so shrouded in secrecy that Beijing has never actually said it exists, the South China Morning Post reported.

However, as the Global Times noted, Beijing has never said the JL-3 doesn’t exist, either, which observers have taken as implicit proof that it does. After all, what else could the series of tests observed and reported on, even by the ministry itself, involve?

China’s National Award for Excellence in Innovation was started up in 2017 and offered to the country’s top scientists every three years. In all, some 300 other scientists and teams will receive the prize, including medical experts and scientists who led China’s COVID-19 response effort, designers of a new type of space dock and the scientists behind the country’s first hypersonic weapon. Nominations are evaluated by industry peers in the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) non-governmental organization, which announced the recipients on Monday.

Several demonstrations have been held in protest of the state's ongoing coronavirus lockdown

Hillary Clinton has lashed out at the armed demonstrators who have protested at the Michigan state capitol building against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's (D) ongoing coronavirus lockdown, calling such protests "domestic terrorism" and signaling that they must be stopped.

What are the details?

On Friday, Clinton tweeted, "Armed men storming a legislature to disrupt its democratic proceedings is domestic terrorism. It cannot be tolerated."

The former Democratic presidential nominee's message included a link to a Newsweek story with the headline: "Michigan closes down capitol in face of death threats from armed protestors against Gov. Whitmer."

Several protests have been held at the state's capitol building since Gov. Whitmer imposed one of the most strict stay-at-home orders in the nation. Late last month, protestors—some of whom were armed—poured inside the building itself, demanding to enter the chambers of the House of Representatives as members considered whether or not to extend the lockdown at Whitmer's request.

The protestors were blocked from entering the House chambers by State Police troopers and House sergeants-at-arms, but the protest remained peaceful. Lawmakers allowed the shutdown order expire, but Whitmer extended it unilaterally, further angering those opposed to the economic shutdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Hill reported that "one man is reportedly facing charges over death threats to Whitmer, and Newsweek reports there have been posts online calling to lynch her as well as suggestions to crowdfund for a hitman."

According to the Newsweek article shared by Clinton, "Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) have considered banning firearms from the Capitol building but are awaiting the six-member Michigan State Capitol Commission to figure out if they have the legal authority to do so.

NATO chief says the alliance backs jihadi-supported government in Libya (VIDEO)

Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO), indicated that the alliance will back the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya. The GNA is currently at war with the Libyan National Army (LNA). It is also backed by Libya’s branch of the international Muslim Brotherhood Islamist organization, among others.

Stoltenberg made the remarks in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that was published yesterday, according to a report by Greek City Times.

Stoltenberg said that while there is currently an international arms embargo in place for Libya that must be respected by all sides that this doesn’t mean that the two warring factions should be treated equally. “For this reason, NATO is ready to give its support to the [GNA] government of Tripoli,” he said.

Libya has been in chaos since Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s Jamahiriya government, which had ruled the country for more than 40 years, was toppled by NATO-backed forces in 2011. The GNA, under the leadership of Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, was formed in 2015 and given a mandate to rule the country by the United Nations. That mandate expired in 2017, and yet the UN still considers it to be Libya’s legitimate government.

Since last year the GNA has been under attack by the Libyan National Army, a portion of the country’s armed forces that rejects al-Sarraj’s government and is led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. The LNA says that it opposes the GNA because the latter is backed by foreign interests and Islamist terrorists.

The GNA is backed by Italy and Turkey, and also receives support from numerous Islamist organisations, including the Muslim Brotherhood. The GNA has also been accused of using former ISIS fighters, among others, in its army. The LNA, on the other hand, is supported by Egypt, France, Greece, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

A new video is now circulating that was created by Lindsey Snell, an American journalist who was kidnapped by Al-Nusra terrorists in Syria before managing to escape to Turkey, and was then imprisoned by Turkey for two months on allegations that she was a CIA agent. The video consists of interviews with Syrian jihadis who have been fighting on behalf of the GNA.

In the video, the fighters say that they are fighting for the GNA on Turkey’s orders because they are on Turkey’s payroll. One of them even says that, since the jihadis are backed by Turkey, which is a NATO member state, that they also have the rest of NATO, including the United States, supporting them.

As US coronavirus death toll mounts, so does the belief by some that it is exaggerated

There’s a reason why some people believe government officials are exaggerating the number of COVID-19 fatalities.

One problem is the hodgepodge way states tally those numbers, Fox News has found.

Some states count presumed coronavirus deaths along with confirmed cases under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance issued last month. Other states don’t count those deaths.

Deaths have been classified as a COVID-19 death even after a physician or loved ones reported otherwise. And those who died “with" COVID-19 have been included in the count with those who died “of" COVID-19.

“I think a lot of clinicians are putting that condition (COVID-19) on death certificates when it might not be accurate because they died with coronavirus and not of coronavirus,” Macomb County, Mich., Chief Medical Examiner Daniel Spitz in an interview with the Ann Arbor News last month.

“Are they entirely accurate? No,” Spitz said. “Are people dying of it? Absolutely. Are people dying of other things and coronavirus is maybe getting credit? Yeah, probably.”

The doctor also said he believes there are people who died of COVID-19, but weren't counted. Determining a COVID-19 death is based on each doctor's best clinical impression and that varies, he said.

“There’s no uniformity,” he said.

The debate over whether the COVID-19 death count has been exaggerated has intensified as deaths from the virus continue to rise at a steady and alarming rate.

As of Friday, there were 85,974 deaths due to COVID-19 in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was reporting 83,947 COVID-19 deaths on Friday.

Richard Nixon had to resign over the famous scandal of the June 17, 1972 failed break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Washington, D.C. Watergate Office Building. After the five perpetrators were arrested, the press and the U.S. Justice Department connected the cash found on them at the time to the Nixon re-election campaign committee. Several major revelations came about with presidential action to try to cover up what took place. It was discovered that Nixon recorded meetings in the Oval Office. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Nixon must release the Oval Office tapes to government investigators. The tapes revealed that Nixon had conspired to cover up activities that took place after the break-in and had attempted to use federal officials to deflect the investigation. Nixon, however, never ordered the break-in.

The Obama Legacy is coming undone. It is looking more and more that President Obama was actually directing U.S. intelligence agencies to spy on Trump. Clearly, like Nixon, Obama at the very least knew what was going on. The likelihood that Vice President Biden also knew everything also remains very high.

Several Republican senators released the names of top Obama administration officials who had put in “unmasking” requests and might have gotten the identity of Michael Flynn, Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser who was captured on tape talking to Russia’s former ambassador before Mr. Trump was sworn in. The list of officials provided by Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell included Mr. Biden, former FBI Director James B. Comey, and ex-intelligence chiefs John Brennan and James Clapper. These are the men who have been most vocal against Trump – it appears that they have been taking that position knowing what they did was illegal to try to deflect blame if they became criminally indicted.

A federal judge is the Flynn case that appears to be acting more like a prosecutor. He has yet to accept the Justice Department dropping the case. The Judge himself in an unprecedented position suggested he might pursue contempt or perjury charges against Flynn. This is showing deep bias in a political case regarding this judge.

The riddle of how the White House discovered the telephone call and subsequent content between Michael Flynn and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak appears to have been solved. The FBI used a “Pen Register.” There was no unmasking, and no warrant.

A pen register is a device/process which records the telephone numbers of outgoing calls. Monitoring outgoing call numbers does not require a search warrant or FISA.

NIH begins clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin to treat COVID-19

A clinical trial has begun to evaluate whether the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, given together with the antibiotic azithromycin, can prevent hospitalization and death from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, is sponsoring the trial, which is being conducted by the NIAID-funded AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG). Teva Pharmaceuticals is donating medications for the study.

The Phase 2b trial will enroll approximately 2,000 adults at participating ACTG sites(link is external) across the United States. Study participants must have confirmed infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and be experiencing fever, cough and/or shortness of breath. The investigators anticipate that many of those enrolled will be 60 years of age or older or have a comorbidity associated with developing serious complications from COVID-19, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive short-term treatment with either hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin or matching placebos. People living with HIV and pregnant and breastfeeding women also are eligible to participate in the study. The first participant enrolled today in San Diego, California.

“We urgently need a safe and effective treatment for COVID-19. Repurposing existing drugs is an attractive option because these medications have undergone extensive testing, allowing them to move quickly into clinical trials and accelerating their potential approval for COVID-19 treatment,” said NIAID Director Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. “Although there is anecdotal evidence that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin may benefit people with COVID-19, we need solid data from a large randomized, controlled clinical trial to determine whether this experimental treatment is safe and can improve clinical outcomes.”

As of May 13, the World Health Organization (WHO)(link is external) has reported 4.17 million cases of and 287,399 deaths from COVID-19 worldwide. In the United States, 1.36 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 82,246 deaths have been reported as of May 13, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)(link is external).

Currently, there are no specific therapeutics approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat people with COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine is FDA-approved to prevent and treat malaria, as well as to treat the autoimmune diseases rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Some preliminary reports have suggested that hydroxychloroquine, alone or in combination with the FDA-approved antibiotic azithromycin, may benefit people with COVID-19. Numerous clinical trials are planned or underway, including a recently launched study supported by NIH’s National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute evaluating the safety and effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of adults hospitalized with COVID-19. On March 28, FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization(link is external) (EUA) to allow hydroxychloroquine and medical-grade chloroquine to be distributed from the Strategic National Stockpile and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized adolescents and adults with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible.

Participants in the ACTG study, called A5395, will receive oral medications to take at home. Those randomly assigned to the experimental treatment group will take 400 milligrams (mg) of hydroxychloroquine twice on the first day and 200 mg twice daily for an additional six days. They also will take 500 mg of azithromycin on the first day and 250 mg daily for an additional four days. The control group will receive equivalent numbers of placebo pills. Neither the participants nor the study team will know who received experimental treatment or placebo until the end of the trial.

Participants will record their symptoms, adherence to treatment, and major events such as hospitalizations in a diary for 20 days. Study staff will follow up with participants by telephone during this period. When possible, participants will come to the clinical research site for an in-person visit at day 20. Additional follow-ups will be conducted by telephone three and six months after treatment starts.

Sorrento Therapeutics, a California-based biopharmaceutical company, says it may have found a way to eradicate the coronavirus.

Sorrento announced it has found an antibody that could protect the body from the coronavirus and eliminate it from a person within four days, Fox News reports.

Fox News said the company is expected to formally announce its discovery of the STI-1499 antibody, which they say can provide "100% inhibition" of COVID-19, on Friday.

Sorrento officials say its treatment could be available months before a vaccine is ready.

"We want to emphasize there is a cure. There is a solution that works 100 percent," the company's founder and CEO Dr. Henry Ji told Fox. "If we have the neutralizing antibody in your body, you don't need the social distancing. You can open up a society without fear.”

Scientists have been turning to antibodies to find a treatment or vaccine for the virus. Sorrento scientists think they have identified the right one.

Sorrento tested billions of antibodies it collected over the past decade. Researchers narrowed down testing until they found one antibody that would block the virus from infecting health cells. The antibody is STI-1499.

"When the antibody prevents a virus from entering a human cell, the virus cannot survive," Dr. Ji said. "If they cannot get into the cell, they cannot replicate. So it means that if we prevent the virus from getting the cell, the virus eventually dies out. The body clears out that virus.”

Dr. Ji told Fox News the antibody can be used as a preventative treatment because there are no side effects. He said it may be more effective than a vaccine.

"This is the best solution," he said. "The point of making a vaccine is to generalize a neutralizing antibody. So, if you already have one, you don't need to the body to generate one from a vaccine. You've already provided it. You're cutting out the middleman.”

The company is looking to develop the antibody as a therapy for coronavirus.

In a statement to Fox News, Sorrento said it can provide up to 200,000 doses per month and is looking to produce tens of millions more to meet projected demands.

"As soon as it is infused, that patient is now immune to the disease," senior vice president of Sorrento Dr. Mark Brunswick told Fox News. "For the length of time, the antibody is in that system. So, if we were approved [by the FDA] today, everyone who gets that antibody can go back to work and have no fear of catching COVID-19."

U.S. hits Chinese telecom giant Huawei with new tech restrictions as tensions with Beijing escalate

The Commerce Department issued new rules that will prevent Huawei from using any U.S. produced or designed technology

The Commerce Department on Friday issues new rules that will prevent Chinese telecom giant Huawei and its suppliers from using American technology and software. The move will almost certainly escalate tensions between Washington and Beijing, which have already flared significantly during the pandemic.

U.S. companies will still be allowed to apply for licenses to supply products and designs to Huawei, but for the most part, American companies will no longer be permitted to sell U.S. designed or manufactured chips to Huawei.

This administration has identified Huawei as a threat to national security, repeatedly cautioning Americans not to trust its machinery, as it may be used by the Chinese government for spying.

These news rules are the most recent amplification of restrictions against Huawei. In the past year, the government barred exports of American products to the Chinese telecom company and 114 of its affiliate brands.

Huawei has been taking steps to reduce its dependence on American chip manufacturers. But even without direct American exports, the company still relies on foreign manufacturers that, in turn, rely on technology developed in the U.S.

"There has been a very highly technical loophole through which Huawei has been able, in effect, to use U.S. technology with foreign fab producers,” Commerce Secrertary Wilbur Ross said on Friday.

The new rules are an attempt to seal up that loophole.

The State Department has said that it has broad and far-reaching concerns about Huawei, including its work developing a Chinese government surveillance network in China and abroad.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska) said on Friday that the new rules were “long overdue.”

“The United States needs to strangle Huawei," he said. "Modern wars are fought with semiconductors, and we were letting Huawei use our American designs."

State-controlled Chinese newspaper the Global Times ran a message on Friday responding to Commerce’s new rules by warning that China will active an “unreliable entity list,” which will restrict Chinese involvement with U.S. companies like Qualcomm, Cisco, and Apple, and halt completely the purchase of Boeing airplanes.

President Trump has repeatedly blamed China for its role in the global coronavirus pandemic. He has accused the Chinese government of not doing enough to stop the spread of the coronavirus or accurately inform the rest of the global population about its effects.

House passes $3T coronavirus relief - the most expensive bill in history

The House of Representatives on Friday evening passed a $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill, the most expensive legislation approved in history, that Democrats hailed as the unprecedented response needed to deal with the unprecedented pandemic and economic fallout.

The record-breaking bill narrowly passed by a 208-199 vote. Fourteen Democrats defied their party and voted "no," while one Republican, Rep. Pete King of New York, broke with the GOP and voted “yes.”

"If you don't understand the suffering, you haven't been paying attention," said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., the chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee.

"The time for action is now. The American people have unprecedented needs and the federal government must step up to the plate [and] provide the necessary assistance to meet those needs," she said.

Unlike the first four coronavirus bills that passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, this 1,815-page package was drafted by Democrats alone and earned a veto threat from the White House and condemnation from the GOP as a "liberal wish list" that's dead on arrival in the Senate.

Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi couldn't get all her members on board. The most liberal members of the party panned the legislation as not going big enough, while moderate members in swing districts said they couldn't support vote a bill that was too partisan and costly.

"At a time when our country is in real trouble, we should not be spending precious time on one-sided solutions that aren’t going anywhere," said Rep. Joe Cunningham, D-S.C.

But most Democrats, some making emotional pleas on the House floor, said Americans need this lifeline - now. They spoke of the more than 85,000 deaths from COVID-19, winding food bank lines in their districts, more than 36 million losing their jobs, and families struggling to make rent as evidence of the need for a historic response.

"Many say this bill is dead on arrival," Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., told members on the House floor. "If we do not move this bill, the deaths will be in our districts."

Dubbed the HEROES Act, the legislation includes $915 billion in state and local aid that could prevent layoffs of public workers, like first responders and teachers; a new $200 billion "heroes" fund for hazard pay for essential workers; $100 billion for K-12 and higher education and $75 billion for coronavirus testing.

The legislation aims to get more money into the pockets of Americans hard-hit by widespread business closures. Eligible individuals would receive $1,200 checks for each person in their household, up to $6,000.

Legislature's lawyer: Whitmer exercising 'limitless' authority if emergency order allowed to stand

A lawyer for Republican leaders in Michigan's state House and Senate argued Friday that to allow Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's extension of an emergency order over the Legislature's objections essentially grants her "limitless, unilateral, temporally unbounded authority ... for as long as the governor wishes."

Taken to its extreme, lawyer Michael Williams said, "We would be talking about the exercise of executive power with no legislative input for a period of years."

Williams' claim came in a hearing held via teleconference by Court of Claims Judge Cynthia Stephens into the Republican-led Legislature's lawsuit challenging Whitmer's decision on April 30 to enact a new order in response to the coronavirus threat moments after an earlier one expired and the Legislature refused to extend it.

Lawyers for the Republican leaders are asking Stephens to declare Whitmer's order invalid, saying she did not follow the law as enacted by the Legislature.

Under the emergency order, Whitmer has had authority to issue dozens of executive orders responding to coronavirus. Those have included a sweeping stay-at-home order closing businesses and limiting movement outside people's residences — orders that have been met with protests at the state Capitol, including on Thursday.

Let’s be clear: A crime was committed in the Michael Flynn case. But that crime was committed not by the retired general, but by someone who leaked the classified details of his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The Justice Department was correct to drop charges against Flynn for lying to the FBI about his communications with Kislyak. The case was reviewed by Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri with two decades of experience as a prosecutor and FBI special agent, and the resulting 108-page motion to dismiss is a searing indictment of FBI misconduct.

The department found that there was no legal justification for the FBI to question Flynn in the first place, because the interview was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation” of Flynn. The FBI had decided to close that inquiry because of an “absence of any derogatory information.” That meant Flynn pleaded guilty to making false statements that were not “material” to any investigation. For Flynn to have committed a crime, his statement had to have been “not simply false, but ‘materially’ false with respect to a matter under investigation.” In his plea, Flynn “stipulated to the essential element of materiality” without being informed that the FBI had already cleared him in the underlying investigation.

That fact alone is disgraceful. Even more outrageous is that the bureau interrogated Flynn about communications the Justice Department says were “entirely appropriate.” He was the incoming national security adviser, and his “request that Russia avoid ‘escalating’ tensions in response to U.S. sanctions … was consistent with him advocating for, not against, the interests of the United States.” There was nothing in the calls to suggest he was being “directed and controlled by … the Russian federation.” And the FBI did not need his recollections of the calls because it had word-for-word transcripts.

It seems clear that the purpose of the interview was to set a perjury trap. The agents did not inform the White House counsel before the interview so as to catch Flynn by surprise; they did not share the transcripts with Flynn during the interview (which would have allowed him to refresh his memory); they did not warn him that making false statements would be a crime — all of which are standard procedure. Even so, both of the agents who questioned him came away with the impression that “Flynn was not lying or did not think he was lying.”

For these and other reasons, the Justice Department withdrew the charges against Flynn. The fact that the judge in the case is refusing to accept the department’s decision — and has appointed a former judge to contest it —only perpetuates the FBI’s miscarriage of justice.

Instead of pursuing Flynn for a crime he did not commit, we should be focused on finding the individual who did commit a serious felony by leaking the classified details of Flynn’s conversations with Kislyak. And thanks to acting national intelligence director Richard Grenell, we finally have a list of suspects.

Most government officials with access to the transcripts would not have known Flynn was on the call, because when a U.S. citizen is the subject of “incidental collection” during surveillance of a foreign national, their name is “masked.” Only certain officials had the authority to request that a name be unmasked. Until now, we did not know which officials had done so. But on Wednesday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a list of more than three dozen former Obama administration officials who submitted unmasking requests that revealed Flynn’s identity.

Only eight of those received information after the intelligence community discovered his communications with Kislyak on Jan. 4, 2017: former U.N. ambassador Samantha Power; former national intelligence director James R. Clapper Jr.; former treasury secretary Jack Lew; former White House chief of staff Denis McDonough; deputy national intelligence director Michael Dempsey; former deputy national intelligence director Stephanie L. O’Sullivan; a CIA official whose name is redacted; and former vice president Joe Biden.

Grenell: Top counterintel official will take charge of 2020 campaign briefings on election interference

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence announced Friday that its top counterintelligence official would carry out all election security intelligence briefings to 2020 candidates and campaigns instead of the FBI or Department of Homeland Security. The nation’s top spy office, which oversees all 17 spy agencies and is currently led by acting spy chief Richard Grenell, said that the intelligence community “will lead all intelligence-based threat briefings to candidates, campaigns, and political organizations under the U.S. government’s notification framework.” ODNI said William Evanina, the director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center since 2014, will “serve as the IC’s leader to this critical effort.” The ODNI also announced reforms to the National Counterterrorism Center on Friday. “U.S. elections are the foundation of our nation’s democracy,” Evanina said in a statement. “We are committed to supporting this Administration’s whole-of-government effort to secure the 2020 election.”

Evanina, a former FBI special agent, has led the NCSC since 2014, and, in February 2018, was nominated by President Trump to be the first Senate-confirmed director of the center. He was confirmed by the Senate last week when a two-year standoff ended after Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley said Grenell and Attorney General William Barr had provided long-sought transparency for the Trump-Russia congressional investigations. The intelligence community press release stated that having Evanina provide all the campaign briefings on intelligence threats “represents an important improvement and simplification to the threat notification process,” and “the IC will continue to work in partnership with FBI and DHS to identify and integrate threat information.” ODNI said Evanina and the elections team “will act swiftly to deliver the timely and thorough assessments to those affected by potential malicious influence.” An intelligence official told the Washington Examiner that intelligence community leaders believed it made sense for the intelligence community to lead intelligence briefings while noting that election security broadly is about more than just threat briefings. The ODNI official said election security efforts such as the FBI’s Protected Voices initiative and DHS’s cybersecurity and infrastructure protection plans would continue full steam, and the biggest change is that Evanina would lead the 2020 briefings for campaigns to help them guard against foreign interference. National security officials, including Evanina, told lawmakers in March that the intelligence community has not concluded Russia is backing any particular 2020 candidate and warned about interference from multiple countries.

The information appeared in an unclassified ODNI fact sheet, which rejected a stream of media reports on classified briefings on election security. “The IC has not concluded that the Kremlin is directly aiding any candidate’s reelection or any other candidates’ election. Nor have we concluded that the Russians will definitely choose to try to do so in 2020,” the fact sheet read. “This is not a Russia-only problem. China, Iran, other countries like North Korea and Cuba, and non-state actors all have the opportunity, means, and potential motive to interfere in the 2020 elections as a way to achieve their goals.” This statement countered anonymously sourced media reports, which said the intelligence community concluded Russia was helping Trump with reelection and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont win the Democratic primaries.

James Clapper’s CNN Connection Goes Dark After He Is Asked About Leaks

James Clapper’s video and audio connection with CNN died during a Thursday segment on CNN after he was asked about leaks of classified information to news media. James Clapper, who was Barack Obama’s director of national intelligence (DNI), now works for CNN as an “analyst.” He previously denied leaking information related to the dossier composed by British former intelligence officer Christopher Steele in 2016. The collection of documents was procured by Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, circulated between Obama administration senior officials, and used as a predicate by intelligence agencies to obtain warrants to surveil associates of then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump via the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. While speaking with CNN colleague John Berman, Clapper’s audio connection went dead while his video feed faded to black.

BERMAN: Asking for names [to be unmasked], nothing wrong with that. Unmasking in itself, nothing wrong with that. Leaking classified information — and by definition these phone calls were classified — that’s a problem, correct?

CLAPPER: Absolutely, it is.

BERMAN: And if anyone did leak the contents of these conversations with or without the name, that would be a problem, yes?

CLAPPER: [connection ends]

BERMAN: We’ve lost the shot. I wonder if we can at least get him on the phone to finish this. Let’s try to get Director Clapper back. All right, we’re gonna work on getting that shot back.

Earlier in the interview, Clapper claimed to not remember why he requested “unmasking” — revealing the identities — of American citizens whose communications were surveilled and captured by federal intelligence agencies. Berman did not ask Clapper if the former DNI had leaked information regarding the Steele dossier to Tapper. Despite Clapper’s earlier denial of discussing the Steele dossier with Clapper, he admitted to doing so in 2017 while speaking with congressional investigators.

1 Million Students At California Universities To Stay Home Next Fall As Campuses Go 'Online Only'

The California State University system, commonly recognized as the largest four-year university system in the country with 23 total campus, will not hold in-person classes through the fall semester for the majority of programs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Chancellor Timothy White informed a board meeting on Tuesday that "nearly all in-person classes" will be canceled, meaning the current remote learning online format will continue.

And additionally concerning the other major system in the state, the University of California, a new statement this week said "it's likely none of our campuses will fully re-open in fall," according to a UC spokesman.

As multiple reports have underscored, this means a total of more than 770,000 students will not return to campus — which will no doubt be a huge blow to school finances, which often relies heavily for daily operations on campus-related fees such as housing, to say nothing of the coming likely massive drop in tuition and other crucial funds.

Considering other public and private colleges and universities in California are now likely to also go on-line only, we're now talking a whopping one million students expected to stay home.

It further introduces the huge unknown of how many students will choose to forgo paying tuition for what many see as a sub-par online education as opposed to the holistic experience of a college campus. As we described before many especially incoming college freshmen are likely to take a 'gap year' as they're not interested in dropping $50K plus for a semester sitting in their living room.

A California State University statement this week said: "First and foremost is the health, safety and welfare of our students, faculty and staff, and the evolving data surrounding the progression of Covid-19 — current and as forecast throughout the 2020-21 academic year," according to CNN.

And the University of California announcement said it "will be exploring a mixed approach with some material delivered in classroom and labs settings while other classes will continue to be online."

On the other side, evidence has emerged that makes it clear there were organized efforts to collude against candidate Donald Trump-and then President Trump. For example:

Anti-Russian Ukrainians allegedly helped coordinate and execute a campaign against Trump in partnership with the Democratic National Committee and news reporters.

A Yemen-born ex-British spy reportedly delivered political opposition research against Trump to reporters, Sen. John McCain, and the FBI; the latter of which used the materialin partto obtain wiretaps against one or more Trump-related associates.

There were orchestrated leaks of anti-Trump information and allegations to the press, including by ex-FBI Director James Comey.

The U.S. intel community allegedly engaged in questionable surveillance practices and politially-motivated "unmaskings" of U.S. citizens, including Trump officials.

Alleged conflicts of interests have surfaced regarding FBI officials who cleared Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information and who investigated Trump's alleged Russia ties.

U.S. intel community vastly expands its surveillance authority, giving itself permission to spy on Americans who do nothing more than "mention a foreign target in a single, discrete communication." Intel officials also begin storing and entering into a searchable database sensitive intelligence on U.S. citizens whose communications are accidentally or "incidentally" captured during surveillance of foreign targets. Prior to this point, such intelligence was supposed to be destroyed to protect the constitutional privacy rights the U.S. citizens. However, it's required that names U.S. citizens be hidden or "masked" even inside U.S. intel agencies to prevent abuse.

ULA TO LAUNCH THE SIXTH FLIGHT OF THE MAGNIFICENT X-37B.

United Launch Alliance will launch the USSF-7 mission early Saturday morning from Cape Canaveral for the United States Space Force.

United Launch Alliance is poised to launch the sixth mission of the X-37B experimental space plane for the United States Space Force from Launch Complex 41 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Liftoff, dubbed USSF-7, is currently being targeted for Saturday May 16, with a launch window ranging from 8:24 am-10:53 am EDT. Originally delayed from December, the launch was moved forward from a May 20 launch date. The reason for the move is likely in response to airspace warning notices to give the range priority for SpaceX’s upcoming DM-2 mission on May 27.

On Friday, the 45th Weather Squadron predicted a 40% chance of favorable conditions for the launch window. The primary violation concerns remain the cumulonimbus cloud rule as a tropical system moves northeast through the Atlantic off the coast of Florida.

The launch vehicle of choice is an Atlas V in the 501 configuration, meaning the launch vehicle features a five-meter fairing, no solid rocket boosters, and a single-engine centaur second stage. The payload is the Boeing-developed X-37B autonomous spaceplane. Known as the Orbital Test Vehicle, the X-37B was designed for use for the United States Air Force. The spacecraft was built to push the envelope in the realm of capabilities for autonomous spacecraft. On its last mission, OTV-5, the spacecraft spent a record breaking 780 days on orbit. Throughout its nearly ten year operational history, the OTV has completed a myriad of classified and declassified science experiments on behalf of the Air Force and the American Space program.

For USSF-7, the spacecraft will be completing more experiments than on any other OTV mission to date. Cadets from the United States Air Force Academy have developed a small satellite program known as FalconSat 8 that the vehicle will be deploying from its payload bay. The pico satellite will be carrying a myriad of small experimental payloads developed in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory. The other half of the spaceplane’s payload bay will be occupied by an experiment from the United States Naval Research Laboratory focusing on transforming the sun’s solar energy into radio frequency microwave energy. Other experiments inside the spacecraft include two NASA experiments. One focuses on the effects of radiation on plant seeds, and how being in space will affect their growth. Google Hides News, Tricked by Fake Claims

Dubious copyright complaints citing 1998 law led the search giant to make unfavorable articles vanish

A Google search, at one time, could locate a news article on a man accused of attempted child rape, another on someone charged with fraud and still others on Ukrainian politicians facing corruption allegations. Googling certain keywords in March would find an article detailing the movements of two coronavirus-infected British tourists in Vietnam and warning others who visited the same places to take precautions. Then the stories vanished. Google stopped listing them in searches after it received formal requests that it scrub links to the pieces, a Wall Street Journal investigation found.

The Journal identified hundreds of instances in which individuals or companies, often using apparently fake identities, caused the Alphabet Inc. unit to remove links to unfavorable articles and blog posts that alleged wrongdoing by convicted criminals, foreign officials and businesspeople in the U.S. and abroad. Google took them down in response to copyright complaints, many of which appear to be bogus, the Journal found in an analysis of information from the more than four billion links sent to Google for removal since 2011. Google’s system was set up to comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, or DMCA. The 1998 law gives tech firms immunity from claims in copyright cases as long they quickly take down copyrighted material once alerted.

Takedown requests to Google are often from media companies legitimately requesting that pirated copies of a movie or album be removed from search results. Publishers and news outlets, including the Journal, have also asked Google to scrub allegedly infringing material from Google Search. Yet some requests, the Journal found, appear to be from people manipulating the system in ways it didn’t intend, resulting in Google’s taking down lawful content. When a Colorado man, Dak Steiert, faced state-court charges of running a fake law firm in 2018, he sent Google a series of copyright claims against blogs and a law-firm website that discussed his case, claiming they had copied the posts from Mr. Steiert’s own website. That wasn’t true, the Journal determined, but Google erased the pages from its search engine anyway.

Last year, Mr. Steiert, who didn’t respond to requests for comment, pleaded guilty in Colorado state court to one count of false advertising in his business. The Colorado Supreme Court closed his practice. The articles remained invisible in Google searches until the Journal flagged the cases to Google, which then reinstated the links. When Google erases links to an article in its search engine, it is often the equivalent of wiping the piece from the internet, even though the item may still exist on a little-trafficked website. Searchers won’t see a trace. “If people can manipulate the gatekeepers to make important and lawful information disappear,” said Daphne Keller, a former Google lawyer and now a program director at Stanford University’s Cyber Policy Center, “that’s a big deal.”

Google has automated much of the process of reviewing takedown requests, relying on techniques that don’t require human review, to enable removals at a large scale, said company spokeswoman Lara Levin. After the Journal shared its findings with Google, the company conducted a review and restored more than 52,000 links it determined it had improperly removed, she said. Google said its review identified more than 100 new abusive submitters, declining to discuss individual cases. Google “aims to strike a balance between making it easy and efficient for rightsholders to report infringing content while also protecting free expression on the web,” Ms. Levin said, adding that “there are bad actors who attempt to abuse the system” and that Google works to fight such abuse.

George Soros: We’re now in ‘revolutionary moment’ that allows us to achieve the ‘inconceivable’

In a new interview, the left-wing billionaire called the coronavirus pandemic ‘the crisis of my lifetime.’

Left-wing billionaire George Soros has indicated that the coronavirus pandemic paves the way for societal changes previously thought impossible, calling it “the crisis of my lifetime.” Soros had lived through the Second World War as a youth.

“Even before the pandemic hit, I realized that we were in a revolutionary moment where what would be impossible or even inconceivable in normal times had become not only possible, but probably absolutely necessary,” he said during an interview on May 11.

Soros also said that “Europe is facing several existential dangers.”

He was “particularly concerned about the survival of the EU because it is an incomplete union.” While, according to the Hungarian-born billionaire, the European Union was “in the process of being created,” that process “was never completed.”

Thus, Soros said the EU was “exceptionally vulnerable – more vulnerable than the US not just because it is an incomplete union but also because it is based on the rule of law.”

Soros also commented on a recent conflict between Germany and the EU. Germany’s highest court had ruled on May 5 that one of the EU’s Court of Justice decisions regarding policies of the European Central Bank (ECB) was not legally binding. In turn, the European Court of Justice asserted that it alone had jurisdiction over the ECB.

In the interview, Soros sided with the EU. “When Germany joined the EU, it committed itself to abide by European law,” he argued.

He voiced his fears that countries like Poland or Hungary might become more independent of the EU, if also “the German court can question the decisions of the European Court of Justice.”

Soros asked, “Can Hungary and Poland decide whether they follow European law or their own courts – whose legitimacy the EU has questioned? That question goes to the very heart of the EU, which is built on the rule of law.”

“Poland has immediately risen to the occasion and asserted the supremacy of its government-controlled courts over European law. In Hungary, Viktor Orbán has already used the COVID-19 emergency and a captured parliament to appoint himself dictator,” Soros claimed.

The last election took place in 2018, and the next one is scheduled for 2020.

Additionally, a new poll has shown that the majority of Hungarians (54 percent) seem to support the measures of the Orbán administration and would vote for him.

“The ruling poses a threat that could destroy the European Union as an institution based on the rule of law, precisely because it was delivered by the German constitutional court, which is the most highly respected institution in Germany,” Soros emphasized.

In the course of the interview, Soros again talked about his idea of having the EU issue perpetual bonds, which he called Consols. With the money created through Consols, he would finance the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as climate change.

“European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says that Europe needs about €1 trillion ($1.1 trillion) to fight this pandemic, and she should have added another €1 trillion for climate change,” according to Soros.

As the co-founder of a small security consulting firm called UC Global, David Morales spent years slogging through the minor leagues of the private mercenary world. A former Spanish special forces officer, Morales yearned to be the next Erik Prince, the Blackwater founder who leveraged his army-for-hire into high-level political connections across the globe. But by 2016, he had secured just one significant contract, to guard the children of Ecuador’s then-President Rafael Correa and his country’s embassy in the UK.

The London embassy contract proved especially valuable to Morales, however. Inside the diplomatic compound, his men guarded Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, a top target of the US government who had been living in the building since Correa granted him asylum in 2012. It was not long before Morales realized he had a big league opportunity on his hands.

In 2016, Morales rushed off alone to a security fair in Las Vegas, hoping to rustle up lucrative new gigs by touting his role as the guardian of Assange. Days later, he returned to his company’s headquarters in Jerez de Frontera, Spain with exciting news.

“From now on, we’re going to be playing in the first division,” Morales announced to his employees. When a co-owner of UC Global asked what Morales meant, he responded that he had turned to the “dark side” – an apparent reference to US intelligence services. “The Americans will find us contracts around the world,” Morales assured his business partner.

Morales had just signed on to guard Queen Miri, the $70 million yacht belonging to one of the most high profile casino tycoons in Vegas: ultra-Zionist billionaire and Republican mega-donor Sheldon Adelson. Given that Adelson already had a substantial security team assigned to guard him and his family at all times, the contract between UC Global and Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands was clearly the cover for a devious espionage campaign apparently overseen by the CIA.

Unfortunately for Morales, the Spanish security consultant charged with leading the spying operation, what happened in Vegas did not stay there.

Following Assange’s imprisonment, several disgruntled former employees eventually approached Assange’s legal team to inform them about the misconduct and arguably illegal activity they participated in at UC Global. One former business partner said they came forward after realizing that “David Morales decided to sell all the information to the enemy, the US.” A criminal complaint was submitted in a Spanish court and a secret operation that resulted in the arrest of Morales was set into motion by the judge.

Morales was charged by a Spanish High Court in October 2019 with violating the privacy of Assange and abusing the publisher’s attorney-client privileges, as well as money laundering and bribery. The documents revealed in court, which were primarily backups from company computers, exposed the disturbing reality of his activities on “the dark side.”

Obtained by media outlets including The Grayzone, the UC Global files detail an elaborate and apparently illegal US surveillance operation in which the security firm spied on Assange, his legal team, his American friends, US journalists, and an American member of Congress who had been allegedly dispatched to the Ecuadorian embassy by President Donald Trump. Even the Ecuadorian diplomats whom UC Global was hired to protect were targeted by the spy ring.

The ongoing investigation detailed black operations ranging from snooping on the Wikileaks founder’s private conversations to fishing a diaper from an embassy trash can in order to determine if the feces inside it belonged to his son.

According to witness statements obtained by The Grayzone, weeks after Morales proposed breaking into the office of Assange’s lead counsel, the office was burglarized. The witnesses also detailed a proposal to kidnap or poison Assange. A police raid at the home of Morales netted two handguns with their serial numbers filed off, along with stacks of cash.

One source close to the investigation told The Grayzone that an Ecuadorian official was robbed at gunpoint while carrying private information pertaining to a plan to secure diplomatic immunity for Assange.

This U.S. State Has Already Established Legal Means for Mandatory Vaccinations

While the U.S. government and global health “authorities” debate how quickly they can roll out Contact Tracing surveillance programs and fast track vaccines, Americans are left wondering and debating over whether the vaccinations programs for COVID-19 might end up being mandatory.

It is true that Donald Trump has acknowledged that, “We are looking for a full vaccine for everyone who wants to get it, not everyone wants to get it”; however, it’s still uncertain whether the Trump administration will side with civil liberties and informed consent when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccine. What is certain, at this point, is that at least one state in the United States of America has already implemented measures which will allow for forced or mandatory vaccinations once a COVID-19 vaccine is developed.

The Last American Vagabond was recently sent the meme below which has been circulating the internet in recent days. The image claims that someone’s husband recently flew from Louisiana to Florida where he was handed a mandatory quarantine form to fill out. According to the post, the man was essentially forced to sign if he wanted to exit the plane. The image then shows a screenshot of a document which states that individuals who violate the quarantine will be subject to a $500 fine or a 60-day jail sentence. Furthermore, the meme states that, “the State Health Officer and Surgeon General can order any individual to be examined, tested, vaccinated, treated, isolated or quarantined for COVID-19″.

We decided to fact check this meme to see if there was truth to the claim and, unfortunately, the document is in fact a Florida state document. Here’s what we found:

The document is called, “COVID-19 DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH MANDATORY SELF-ISOLATION AIRPORT TRAVEL,” and can be found on the official website of the Florida Airports Council. The form asks travelers to put their home address, a detailed description of the trip, and the names and birth dates to family members who traveled with the person filling out the form.

Senior executive at WA Police demoted after 'intimate liaisons' with young staff member

A sex scandal has led to the demotion of a senior executive at the WA Police Force after it emerged he had "intimate liaisons" with a young staff member who sent him nude photographs.

Former Office of Information Management assistant director John Purcell had an affair with an employee and used the police computer system to receive the photos, which also included images of her semi-nude and wearing only underwear, from 2013 to 2016.

The woman, who no longer works for WA Police, was overseen by Mr Purcell from 2013 to 2014.

Their secret relationship was exposed after an Internal Affairs email audit and Mr Purcell took a significant pay cut.

The father-of-one, who has worked for police since 1992 but is not a sworn officer, took his case to the WA Industrial Relations

Commission, arguing the demotion was "harsh and unfair" because he had an otherwise unblemished record and had taken steps to redeem himself.

But last week, the commission ruled his demotion was appropriate.

"The appellant's misconduct can only be described as brazen and cavalier," the commission said.

Mr Purcell also shared sensitive information via email to an unauthorised person between 2015 and 2016.

Losing his Level 8.3 employment status, and dropping down to a Level 5.4 role, means he is unlikely to have access to sensitive or confidential material.

The commission said Mr Purcell had displayed a complete disregard for his obligations as a senior executive, noting it was sustained misconduct over several years.

"As a very senior manager of the respondent, the appellant was largely immune from scrutiny and oversight, which enabled his behaviour to go undetected," the commission said.

"As a senior employee, the respondent was entitled to place its trust in the appellant's integrity, probity, and the exercise of his managerial discretion, which trust was breached."

Congress by law may reconvene at place other than the Capital and by proclamation of the President. No where in Title 2 USC, Title 50 USC or H.Res. 967 dues it resolve the question of a Quorum, a simple majority. Could not find the resolution on the current work-from-home, or if that was a change in House Rules.

FBI no longer trusted? ODNI says spies will take over US election security briefings

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has reassigned the job of counterintelligence briefings to US political campaigns and candidates from the FBI, presumably over the misconduct during the 2016 election.

Going forward, all intelligence-based threat briefings to “candidates, campaigns and political organizations” will be provided by the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, the acting head of ODNI Richard Grenell announced on Friday.

The announcement went almost unnoticed in Washington until pointed out by filmmaker Mike Cernovich, who said it amounted to “a polite way of saying that the FBI is no longer trusted.”

Donald Trump Junior confirmed that interpretation, saying that the FBI and other institutions has been “corrupted at the top and need a thorough cleaning before they gain back the trust Americans once bestowed upon them.”

The change is but the latest reform Grenell has pushed through at the ODNI since he took over as acting chief in February. It follows last week’s revelations that the FBI sought to entrap President Donald Trump’s first national security adviser Michael Flynn after the 2016 election, first getting him fired from the White House and then improperly prosecuted for perjury.

Corona-hounds: UK launches trials for ‘Covid-19 SNIFFER DOGS’

Trials have begun in the UK to find out if dogs can be trained to detect Covid-19. If successful, the bio-detection canines could be used as a "non-invasive" way to identify people sick with coronavirus.

Researchers at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) will carry out the first phase of the trial, working with the charity Medical Detection Dogs and Durham University. It will be funded by money from a £500 million ($605 million) UK government pot set up to assist "innovative schemes" in the fight against Covid-19.

Dogs are famous for their incredible sense of smell and have for years been used to detect drugs and explosives, as well as to track missing people. Recent research suggests that some dogs can detect certain forms of cancer in humans, as well as diseases such as malaria and Parkinson's disease.

Medical Detection Dogs says that there's evidence that the dogs, each capable of screening up to 250 people per hour, can be trained to detect the odor of disease "at the equivalent dilution of one teaspoon of sugar in two Olympic-sized swimming pools of water."

"Bio-detection dogs already detect specific cancers and we believe this innovation might provide speedy results as part of our wider testing strategy," said Minister for Innovation Lord Bethell.

The hope is that the dogs, Labradors and Cocker Spaniels, will be able to identify the novel coronavirus even on asymptomatic carriers.

The UK has the fourth-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, at nearly 237,000. The deadly pathogen has killed just under 34,000 people in Britain. Initially criticized for his slow reaction to the virus, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson placed the country on lockdown in late March. These lockdown measures were eased this week, but some restrictions will remain in place for at least the summer.

The mainstream media keeps blaming the economic devastation on the coronavirus, but it wasn’t the fault of a virus. It was the fault of the government and the slave mentality of the police and the public willingly obeying their commands.

Mainstream media outlets are still trying desperately to spin the narrative and fault the “invisible enemy” for the very real toll on human life the government’s overreaction has already caused. WASHINGTON (AP) — Neither Civil War nor Great Depression nor any other national crisis has pushed the House to allow lawmakers to vote by proxy — without being “present,” as the Constitution requires. That's about to change during the coronavirus pandemic.

The House approved Friday a package of historic rules changes so Congress can keep functioning even while it's partly closed. The shift will dramatically change the look, if not the operation, of the legislative branch — launching a 21st century WFH House, like others, “working from home."

"This House must continue legislating," Rep. Jim McGovern, the chairman of the House Rules Committee, said during a lengthy session ahead of the vote. "And we have to do so in a way that is safe for all those around us.”

Debate over the changes has been fierce. As President Donald Trump encourages Americans back to work, the 435-member House has stayed away due to health risks while the smaller Senate has resumed operations.

Democrats argue the House can rely on technology for remote work as the pandemic drags on. But Republicans objected to what they see as a power grab during the crisis. The vote was 217-189.

Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma, the top Republican on the rules panel, warned the changes will fundamentally alter the nature of the institution, “and not for the better.”

One by one Republicans lined up Friday to speak against it.

“We should all get to Washington, do our jobs,” said Rep. Bradley Byre, R-Ala.

Under the new rules, House lawmakers will no longer be required to travel to Washington to participate in floor votes. They will be allowed to vote by proxy — assigning their vote to another lawmaker who will be at the Capitol to cast it for them. Eventually, a provision allows for direct remote voting, once the technology is approved.

Just as important, the House committees — the bread and butter of legislative work — will be able to fully function remotely. Committee hearings are prime-time for lawmakers — the chance to grill officials, spar with colleagues and have much of it captured on C-SPAN. House lawmakers will be able to draft bills, conduct oversight and even issue subpoenas from the comfort of their homes.

“This is about allowing the people's House — and the people's representatives in committees — to work,” Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., who has helped lead the effort, testified before the Rules Committee.

With the Capitol physician warning it could be years before Congress resumes full operations, lawmakers are anxious to chart a new normal and not be sidelined.

An earlier proposal was shelved two weeks ago as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted she wanted any change of this significance to be bipartisan. She tapped a task force to try to reach a bipartisan compromise.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy proposed a “hybrid” plan that would allow the committees to conduct work remotely but stopped short of allowing the proxy voting on the floor.

A key Trump ally, McCarthy argues if other Americans are at work, Congress should be, too. “It’s a very sad day inside this House,” the California Republican said. He mocked Pelosi for having claimed the House would serve as the “captain” of the ship, last to leave during the crisis, only to go home.

The changes are expected to be temporary, only through the remainder of this session of Congress, at the end of the year. Democrats insist the changes should be used only under times of crisis.

But Republicans warn there will be legal challenges to legislation passed during this period, questioning the constitutional legitimacy of proxy votes. The House has never allowed proxy floor votes, even during some of the most challenging eras in the nation's history. Lawmakers convened during the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic and only stayed away a short time after the 2001 terror attacks. Proxy votes had been allowed in committees, but that ended decades ago. Under the new rules, one lawmaker can carry up to 10 votes by proxy to the Capitol.

“You got to be here,” said another Trump ally, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio. “You can’t phone it in.”

But Hoyer, quoting President Abraham Lincoln, told his colleagues, "We must act and think anew."

Second COVID-19 Wave Hits USS Theodore Roosevelt

A second coronavirus has reportedly hit the USS Theodore Roosevelt after five sailors who had returned retested positive for the virus.

In March, as many as 1,000 of the vessel's 4,900 crew tested positive and were evacuated to shore. The Navy quickly implemented screening procedures to allow those who had recovered to return if they tested negative.

War Powers Resolution Acknowledged By Congress

In the H.Res. 965/967 to allow proxy voting, they cite the Wars Powers Resolution 50 USC Sec 1846. The section requires voting on concurrent resolutions and be voted on within 3 days.

Not sure Congress fully read the War Powers Resolution as the purpose is introducing US Armed Forces into hostilities per Sec 1841. President's authority would be 1841(c)(3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.

Is Congress admitting the US it war with China due to biological weapon attack (covid-19)?

Is Congress colluding with China to hinder economic recovery and the actions of the President?

Espionage? Deprivation of Rights? Election Fraud? Sedition? Treason?

FBI Moves On Dianne Feinstein- Orders Her To Hand Over Documents On Her Husband’s Stock Trades

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) got paid a visit from Federal agents which involved her husband, Richard Blum wanting

information over her husband’s decision to unload stock ahead of the coronavirus outbreak. Known as Insider Trading.

Feinstein’s husband is no stranger to shady deals- that’s how they are so rich.

As the Page Six notes, “Blum’s company, CBRE, was selected in March 2011 as the sole real estate agent on sales expected to

fetch $19 billion. Most voters didn’t notice that Blum is a member of CBRE’s board and served as chairman from 2001 to 2014.”

Feinstein’s office denies that she had anything to do with the USPS decision.

This is not the first time Feinstein and her husband have come under fire for engaging in crony capitalism.

In 2013, a construction group partially owned by Blum’s investment firm scored a construction contract for California’s

high-speed rail project valued at $985,142,530.

The California Democrat also purportedly handed over documents to federal agents to indicate she had “no involvement” in her

husband’s decision to sell off between $500,000 to $1 million in a biotech company, Allogene Therapeutics, this past January,

Breitbart reports.

A spokesperson for Feinstein told The New York Times Thursday that the FBI asked her “basic questions” last month about stock

sales made by her husband, and added that the senator provided requested documents to federal law enforcement that showed she

had no involvement in her husband’s financial transactions, Daily Caller reports.

The 86-year-old California senator sold at least $1.5 million in stocks following a late January briefing on the coronavirus,

but has denied any wrongdoing, and has said that all of her assets are in a blind trust.

The sale, which coincided with the stock trading at its 2020 low, came shortly before the market tumbled because of the coronavirus

pandemic. Feinstein’s admission came on the same day that Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) temporarily stepped down as chair of the Senate

Intelligence Committee because of an ongoing investigation into his own unloading of stock in February.

Burr, who is not only facing a Department of Justice (DOJ) probe, but one from the Securities and Exchange Commission as well, made

the announcement after the FBI seized his cell phone on Wednesday at his Washington, DC, home.

Law enforcement officials are supposedly attempting to establish a timeline of when the senator decided to sell upwards of $1.72

million in stock this past February. At the time, Burr was receiving nearly daily briefings from the Senate Intelligence Committee

on the coronavirus threat, and there is speculation he may have acted on information privy only to members of his panel.
