Texas sheriff sends SWAT team with guns drawn to arrest armed lockdown protestors

Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis says, 'If you don't like what's going on, run for governor.'

A Texas sheriff sent his department's SWAT team with guns drawn to break up a rally in support of a bar owner who reopened her business in violation of Gov. Greg Abbott's (R) coronavirus lockdown on Monday.

The protestors say they did nothing wrong and argue they were simply practicing their First and Second Amendment Rights, while the sheriff says the demonstrators exhibited "a show of force" in their demonstration. Eight people were arrested—six of them for unlawfully carrying a weapon on a premises licensed to sell alcohol.

What are the details?

Gabrielle Ellison owns Big Daddy Zane's bar in West Odessa. She announced she would be reopening her doors in violation of the state's COVID-19 lockdown, because she cannot support her family. She told KPEJ-TV, "The possibility of losing my license—heartbreaking. But they've already taken my income."

Ellison says she even called the Ector County Sheriff's Department ahead of time to let them know there would be a peaceful protest at the bar when she reopened Monday. Ellison maintains she was told there wouldn't be any trouble as long people were not seen carrying firearms on the property.

So Ellison made sure the demonstration took place in an area behind the bar, which she says is her private property. It was met with and shut down by force.

Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis sent in his department's SWAT team with guns drawn. The deputies arrested eight people, including Ellison.

Six of the demonstrators were arrested on felony charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon on a licensed premises, and Sheriff Griffis says more charges could be filed.

The protest was organized by a group called Open Texas, which seeks to provide support and defend the rights of small business owners to reopen and support themselves. Phillip Archibald, who is part of Open Texas, told KWES-TV, "We're here to inspire the American people to stand up. Every single one of my buddies just got arrested for doing nothing wrong. All of our rifles were slinged."

During a news conference following the incident, Griffis said he wants the state reopened, too, but his department was simply enforcing the executive order imposed by Gov. Abbott. "If you don't like what's going on, run for governor," the sheriff said. "Give us something to work with here."

Griffis noted that he had not shut down another protest held at a gym across town where people were also armed, pointing out that the demonstration was not held on a property where alcohol was sold. He said of the rally at Big Daddy Zane's, "This was not a protest of their Second Amendment rights. It was a show of force to ensure that this lady could violate the governor's order."

The possibility of a Democratic ticket linking former Vice President Joe Biden and former First Lady Michelle Obama has inched a bit closer to reality with the formation of an official “Committee to Draft Michelle Obama” as Biden’s running mate.

Despite Obama showing no interest at all in the position so far, the committee, backed by Democratic fundraisers Nadine Hack and Mack Wilbourn, is quite serious in its intent to convince Michelle Obama to respond affirmatively to Biden’s statement that he would “take her in a heartbeat” as a running mate, Breitbart reports.

He was a molecular biologist at the University of Pittsburgh researching SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), was looking into "the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications", and was "on the verge of making very significant findings".

Now here's where it gets interesting. Quick rundown on the narrative:

- It was a "murder-suicide"

- Dr. Liu got "shot multiple times, including in the head, neck and torso".

- "Mr. Liu was shot by another man — identified later by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office as Hao Gu, 46, of Pittsburgh — who then got into his car parked about 100 yards away on Charlemagne Circle and killed himself"

- "Police declined to disclose a possible motive for the homicide, but they said nothing was stolen from the townhouse and there was no forced entry"

- "A formal ruling from the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office about the cause and manner of Mr. Gu’s death is pending".

- "Ross police Sgt. Brian Kohlhepp said the men knew each other but did not disclose how. He declined to comment on a possible motive, but said no other suspect is at large."

While there is hardly any information about the man named "Hao Gu" who supposedly shot the Dr. then supposedly killed himself, I did find this.

A Mr. Hao Gu was theRegistrar for the "Pittsburgh Chinese School", at least as of April 21, 2020. Here's the link: https://www.pittsburgh-chinese-school.org/contact.php

Now, the Registrar is a mane named "Mr. Jianguang Sun", but using the cached version, it shows Mr. Hao Gu as the Registrar on the date April 21, 2020.

I'm not sure when they changed the Registrar, but it was very recently.It's unclear if this is the same person as the man who "committed suicide", but it's definitely something that should be dug on, especially when we know what the Chinese do with educational subversion in the USA.

Pompeo Warns US State Governors About Beijing’s Threats

Pompeo also warned governors about the Chinese regime’s efforts to influence the U.S. education system.

“Chinese Communist Party officials, too, are cultivating relationships with county school board members and local politicians—often through what are known as sister cities programs,” Pompeo said. In recent months, following U.S. officials’ warnings that such institutes engage in academic censorship, many colleges have shut down Confucius Institutes. Schools in 25 states are in the process or already have shut down these programs after conducting internal reviews, according to Pompeo.

“Don’t lose sight of the competition from China that’s already present in your state. Let’s all rise to the occasion and protect our security, our economy; indeed, all that we hold dear, all of those freedoms,” Pompeo concluded.

Anon has been thinking about The Giving Pledge. The Giving Pledge is the group founded by Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet in 2010. They and 40 of America's filthy rich (AKA billionaires) got together in order to make pledges to give away over half of their wealth during their lifetimes (or in their wills).

Their goal in giving is to shift the social norms of philanthropic giving. They wish to "leverage" their money and power to achieve their goals. The real kick in the pants is that The Giving Pledge has annual meetings and other special meetings to exchange ideas. During these meetings the members of the pledge are educated, by experts, and have discussions not only about how much to give but also for what purpose to give and to what ends. Elsewhere in the literature, the claim is made that the pledge does not tell members where to give. You can see from the screencaps provided that the pledge does educate signatories about the purposes for which to give. This pledge looks very much like an agenda driven way to dupe rich folks into investing money in approved pledge projects.

Human nature being what it is, the peer preassure must be intense, when billions of dollars are at stake. This pledge looks like a very neat trick to give the very wealthy a stronger sense of belonging. Members probably realize that, if ostricized by the pledge, they will have only the lowly with whom to socialize.

Over the years the pledge has aquired signatories from around the world: "...Australia, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong), Cyprus, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE, the United Kingdom, and the United States.".

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a virtual roundtable with small-business owners and advocacy organizations Tuesday afternoon as the federal government’s program for supporting businesses with fewer than 500 employees was well on its way to exhausting the roughly $640 billion Congress has allocated to it so far.

The speaker said that she was working closely with fellow Democrats on efforts to reform the Paycheck Protection Program to ensure greater transparency and greater access by the smallest of small businesses, but she also stressed that Congress should be “expanding support beyond PPP to provide more resources” to the tens of millions of small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic, urging small-business owners to support a sweeping Paycheck Guarantee Act that would reimburse employers of all types and sizes for payroll and benefit costs.

The Paycheck Protection Program offers small businesses low-interest loans to cover two months of payroll and other expenses that can be forgiven in proportion to the level of pre-crisis employment maintained as of June 30. The loans are backed by the Small Business Administration, but originated by private banks, and the program has been dogged by accusations that banks were serving their largest and longest-standing clients first, leaving the smallest businesses and those most in need without access to aid.

Data from the Small Business Administration shows the average loan size has fallen to $79,000 after Congress authorized a second round of funding for the program late last month, down from $206,000 in the first.

Nevertheless, if new loan issuance maintains last week’s pace, the SBA will be set to exhaust new funding by Friday, when it will have issued roughly 5.6 million loans, which may not be nearly enough to meet the need for the 30 million small businesses operating across the country. A poll released Tuesday by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce showed that 47% of small business, or 14 million firms, say a PPP loan is critical to keeping their businesses open.

“There is an obvious need for continued financial support,” Neil Bradley, executive vice president and chief policy officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, told MarketWatch.

Whether small businesses can expect more support of any kind remains an open question. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has expressed wariness over enacting new spending measures after Congress has already allocated nearly $3 trillion, and he and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy put out a joint statement Friday that they would not support another coronavirus bill unless it provided liability protection for businesses hoping to operate amid the coronavirus epidemic, a measure Democrats have said they would oppose.

Pelosi appears set to organize her caucus around a new bill that champions Democratic priorities, including a proposal by Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington that would authorize the Treasury Department to reimburse employers for 100% of their payroll and benefit costs up to $100,000 per employee as an incentive for all businesses, states and localities to maintain their pre-crisis levels of employment. A similar proposal in the Senate has been championed by Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, and others.

Pelosi urged small-business leaders on the call to make their voices heard if they “believe the Jayapal-Warner idea is a good one, because the road from 3 million to 30 million is a long one,” referring to the gap between PPP loans issued and the potential need on the part of small businesses.

There were still glimmers of bipartisanship Tuesday, with Democratic Senator Michael Bennett of Colorado and Republican Senator Todd Young of Indiana proposing a new initiative called the RESTART program aimed at providing longer-term support to small businesses.

Found the Chinese School of Pittsburgh in a Brochure for theThe Chinese School Association in the United States 10th National Convention and Chinese Education Conference from 2014. I made graphics on the relevant pages I've found and translated the chink runes using google translate. On the top is the highlighted portion translated, and below it is how it appears in the PDF (link at the bottom)

It had Hao Gu's name in it for receiving an "Outstanding School Contribution Award" at the Chinese School of Pittsburgh. That means Hao Gu worked there as far back as 2014. Now his name is removed from the website, but the cached version shows his name still there up to April 21, 2020. Pic2

Note, it's still unclear if this Hao Gu from Pittsburgh is the same Hao Gu from Pittsburgh that supposedly shot the Dr. then killed himself. Not much information but still digging into this lead.

A federal court judge has ordered New York Democrats to reinstate the presidential primary election for June 23 after one-time candidate Andrew Yang challenged its cancellation. Judge Analisa Torres in her decision Tuesday ruled that the New York Board of Elections’ decision to cancel the vote was unconstitutional and that all qualified candidates as of April 26 must be on the ballot.

“[T]he removal of presidential contenders from the primary ballot not only deprived those candidates of the chance to garner votes for the Democratic Party’s nomination,” Torres wrote in her opinion. “…but also deprived their pledged delegates of the opportunity to run for a position where they could influence the party platform, vote on party governance issues, pressure the eventual nominee on matters of personnel or policy, and react to unexpected developments at the Convention.” Yang sued the New York State Board of Elections last week, claiming the cancellation “fundamentally denie[d] [voters] the right to choose our next candidate for the office of President of the United States.”

Arthur Schwartz, an attorney for plaintiffs in the case, called the decision an “extraordinary victory for the democratic process.” “This decision is not a win for Andrew Yang or Bernie Sanders. It is a win for democracy,” Schwartz said in a statement. “And it is also a warning to President Trump not to mess around with our right to vote him out in November.” Schwartz and other counsel called on Jay Jacobs, the Chair of the New York State Democratic Committee, to not appeal the decision. “I saw the opinion came down. I haven’t read it yet and obviously from a policy point of view I disagree on it,” Jacobs told The Post. “I’ll have to review it.” A spokesman for the BOE declined to comment, saying its lawyers are reviewing the decision and considering options. “I hope that the New York Board of Elections takes from this ruling a newfound appreciation of their role in safeguarding our democracy,” Yang said in a statement.

The Florida congressman cites a DHS report indicating Chinese drones may be used to collect U.S. infrastructure data to transmit back to the Chinese government

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is calling on Attorney General William Barr to order the grounding of all China-connected DJI drones used by law enforcement across the U.S. – including state and local agencies. DJI (Dà-Jiāng Innovations) is a Chinese technology company that is suspected of using information from the drones used by U.S. law enforcement to feed sensitive data back to the Chinese government. In 2017, the Department of Homeland Security released a report, in which they determined that DJI had specifically marketed their product to local law enforcement agencies, and as a result, China is able to “provide DJI information to terrorist organizations … to coordinate attacks against U.S. critical infrastructure.”

The findings of DHS’s report prompted the U.S. Army and the Department of the Interior to end their use of DJI drones. However, law enforcement agencies across the country continue to use them, and several dozen local agencies recently accepted a donation of the drones from DJI, despite the national security risk they pose. On a Fox News "Tucker Carlson Tonight" appearance, Gaetz spoke about his letter sent Monday to Barr and called the DJI drones a “Trojan horse spying operation in our country” that local police departments may unwittingly be helping.

WASHINGTON (SBG) — The White House coronavirus task force is going to start winding down this month, according to reports.

>Citing senior officials, CNN reports the task force is being phased down by Memorial Day.

>The New York Times says it is not clear whether another group will replace the task force, and Vice President Mike Pence acknowledged the Trump administration is “having conversations” about it winding down.

A senior official said members of the task force will still be involved in talks with governors and industry leaders because state officials still want to hear from doctors as they reopen states, according to CNN.

Another senior administration official told CNN the White House is shifting its focus toward the economy. Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci, who have been prominent public figures during the coronavirus pandemic, will still advise the administration throughout the process.

Dozens of states have started the process of reopening, despite projections that show a worsening death toll. The United States had over 1.1 million confirmed cases and 70,646 deaths as of Tuesday, according to Johns Hopkins University.

A federal judge issued a ruling Tuesday requiring New York to hold its presidential primary in June and restore Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and other former presidential contenders to the ballot. 

The ruling from Judge Analisa Torres of the Southern District of New York, an Obama appointee, said Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) decision to scrap his state’s primary violated the First and 14th Amendment rights of White House contenders who have since ended their campaigns.

“The Court concludes that Plaintiffs and Plaintiff-Intervenors have shown a clear and substantial likelihood of success on the merits of their claim that the Democratic Commissioners’ April 27 Resolution removing Yang, Sanders, and eight other Democratic presidential candidates from the ballot deprived them of associational rights under the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution,” Torres ruled, referring to entrepreneur Andrew Yang, another former presidential candidate who filed the lawsuit against New York. 

Cuomo first announced in April that he was canceling New York’s presidential primary after Sanders dropped out of the race and essentially locked up Biden’s claim to the Democratic nomination. Still, Sanders had declared that he planned to remain on upcoming primary ballots to win more delegates, who can work to influence the party’s platform at this summer’s Democratic National Convention.

“We shouldn’t have nonessential primaries. There is only one candidate who is running,” New York Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs said at the time.

Cuomo’s decision was met with an outcry from progressives who said the move would block them from promoting their candidate and hinder efforts to bridge divides between centrists and liberals within the party that continue to play out from 2016. 

“Senator Sanders wishes to remain on the ballot, and is concerned that his removal from the ballot would undermine efforts to unify the Democratic Party in advance of the general election,” Malcolm Seymour, an attorney representing the Sanders campaign, wrote at the time to Andrew Spano, the commissioner for the New York State Board of Elections. 

Torres wrote Tuesday that she agreed with progressives’ concerns, arguing that the cancellation could disenfranchise New York voters.

“The removal of presidential contenders from the primary ballot not only deprived those candidates of the chance to garner votes for the Democratic Party’s nomination, but also deprived their pledged delegates of the opportunity to run for a position where they could influence the party platform, vote on party governance issues, pressure the eventual nominee on matters of personnel or policy, and react to unexpected developments at the Convention,” she wrote. 

“And it deprived Democratic voters of the opportunity to elect delegates who could push their point of view in that forum,” she added.

Despite New York’s ruling and his position as the presumptive nominee, Biden appeared to be aware of concerns that depriving Sanders of the chance to rack up more delegates could spark a progressive backlash. Biden and Sanders last week announced a deal that would allow the Vermont lawmaker to keep hundreds of delegates he’d won during the primary race.

“While Senator Sanders is no longer actively seeking the nomination, the Biden campaign feels strongly that it is in the best interest of the party and the effort to defeat Donald Trump in November to come to an agreement regarding these issues that will ensure representation of Sanders supporters and delegate candidates, both on the floor and in committees,” the Biden and Sanders campaigns said in a memo.

Architect of COVID-19 lockdowns resigns after flouting social distancing rules

Dr. Neil Ferguson, director of the prestigious MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College London, published an explosive report on March 16 predicting that without intervention coronavirus deaths in the U.K. could reach 550,000 and American fatalities could be as high as 2.2 million. Alarmed by Dr. Ferguson’s predictions, the British government scrapped its original plan of allowing its population to acquire "herd immunity" to the virus naturally in favor of a strict lockdown. The U.S. government fell into line with similar guidelines shortly thereafter.

On Monday, the epidemiologist whose projections guided the imposition of strict stay-home measures resigned his position when it was reported that his married lover visited him at his home — twice — in defiance of social distancing rules. Ferguson issued a statement accepting blame. "I accept I made an error of judgement and took the wrong course of action," he said. "…I deeply regret any undermining of the clear messages around the continued need for social distancing." Ferguson had been recovering after having himself contracted the very virus he had been modeling, but he claims he was no longer infectious. However, Ferguson has admitted that he may have been infectious while attending a crucial press conference with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street on March 17. Johnson soon after came down with a severe case of COVID-19 that required a stay in intensive care, during which the prime minister narrowly escaped death, according to widespread reports.

The day after release of the Imperial College report, the New York Times wrote, “With ties to the World Health Organization and a team of 50 scientists led by a prominent epidemiologist, Neil Ferguson, Imperial is treated as a sort of gold standard, its mathematical models feeding directly into government policies.” Ferguson’s department is staffed with 200 researchers, but it turned out that his COVID-19 predictions relied on an old model he first created to plot the spread of an influenza outbreak in Thailand back in 2005. Within a week of his report’s release, questions were being asked about Ferguson’s methodology. His response only rang more alarm bells: “I wrote the code (thousands of lines of undocumented C) 13+ years ago to model flu pandemics.” Ferguson then claimed he was unable to publish his model until Microsoft began helping him sort out his code, in the last days before Bill Gates stepped down from the software giant’s board.

So far, all that has been published, according to Breitbart’s James Delingpole, is a reconstruction by Github, rather than the original source code, which raises troubling questions about its initial accuracy. Computer predictions are only as good as the data they are fed, combined with their ability to account for all the variables involved. Ferguson’s influential COVID-19 model was driven by little more than very unreliable numbers coming out of China, plus the early figures from South Korea, Italy, and Spain. He seasoned his proprietary mix with numbers from the “Spanish Flu” pandemic after World War I. Using his 15-year-old code, Ferguson concluded, “Based on our estimates and other teams’, there’s really no option but to follow in China’s footsteps and suppress.” Ferguson has a history of vastly overestimating projected death tolls.

YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Insults His Own Users as Basement-Dwelling Idiots

Admits company rigs its algorithm to favor mainstream media.

YouTube’s Chief Product Officer has insulted his own users as basement-dwellers who deserve to be relegated by the algorithm in favor of “authoritative” mainstream sources. Neil Mohan made the remarks during an interview with Protocol’s editor at large David Pierce after he was asked if YouTube had to switch its approach to moderating content given the ever changing advice of health authorities in relation to the coronavirus. Mohan said that this was the reason YouTube was “raising up authoritative voices,” which is a euphemism for suppressing voices that aren’t part of the mainstream media, despite the fact that the public’s trust in the media during the coronavirus pandemic has plummeted even further. He then went on to insult his own user base as basement-dwelling idiots.

“As opposed to, you know, it’s somebody espousing their opinions about a mask, you know, in their basement,” said Mohan. “This is coming from an authoritative channel, a news source, a medical professional, and if that’s the case, we think there’s going to be some context that’s provided around the question of masks. And even if that guidance changes, it will be reflected in sort of how an authoritative voice or channel talks about it.” Mohan then made it clear how non-mainstream channels are algorithmically shadow banned by “removing or reducing views of the videos where that same level of authority hasn’t been established.”

Of course, the only reason why so-called “authoritative” sources are now doing so well on YouTube is because the company rigged its own algorithm to heavily favor them while dumping the very people who helped build YouTube on the trash heap. Last month, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki recently said that information which challenged the World Health Organization would be removed, despite the fact that the WHO was directly complicit in helping China cover-up the severity of coronavirus in its early stages and despite the fact the organization gave harmful advice in ordering countries not to close their borders early on. “Mohan’s comments exemplify how the changes YouTube has made in relation to the coronavirus and news coverage have made it almost impossible for independent creators to cover current events, even when the mainstream media outlets that are being raised up have a track record of getting it wrong,” writes Tom Parker.

Working as a newspaper delivery man for the Daily Pilot in Los Angeles, CA was Greg Laurie's first job. Laurie was not raised in the Christian faith or a church environment. In 1970, when Laurie was 17 years old, he became a devout Christian at Newport Harbor High School under the ministry of evangelist Lonnie Frisbee.

(Lonnie Frisbee was an American Charismatic evangelist and self-described "seeing prophet" in the late 1960s and 1970’s and was a key figure in the Jesus movement.

He maintained a hippie appearance and struggled with homosexuality. Frisbee functioned as an evangelical preacher while also privately socializing as a gay man, before and during his evangelism career. His churches later disowned him because of his active sexual life, removing him first from leadership positions, then ultimately, firing him.)

At the age of 19, Greg Laurie, under the ministry of Calvary Chapel Pastor Chuck Smith, was given the opportunity to lead a Bible study of 30 people. The church that formed from this group, Harvest Christian Fellowship, has grown to become one of the largest churches in the United States. In 2013, Harvest Christian Fellowship celebrated its 40th anniversary. The church has another dedicated campus in Irvine as well as four satellite campuses (Woodcrest, Eastvale, South Corona and Lahaina, Hawaii) with a congregation of approximately 15,000 people, and also houses more than 80 ministries. Harvest recently merged with Kumulani Chapel in Maui, Hawaii, and that church is now called Harvest Kumulani.

Laurie holds two honorary doctorates from Biola University and Azusa Pacific University. He serves on the board of directors for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He is also a chaplain for the Newport Beach Police Department. In 2013, Laurie served as the Honorary Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.

President Donald Trump selected Pastor Laurie as one of several evangelical church leaders to participate in the National Prayer Service hosted at the Washington National Cathedral following the Presidential Inauguration of 2017.

In 2017, Greg Laurie organized a movement entitled “The Year of Good News.” Multiple church leaders signed the letter he penned to initiate the movement. One of the paragraphs of the letter reads, “In a time of fake news, distracting news, divisive news, disorderly news, and, sometimes, depressing news, we—as Christians and as leaders—want to recommit ourselves to making sure that the Good News of Jesus cuts through it all. We call upon Christians in America to make 2017 "The Year of Good News."

"Last week documents were released as part of Attorney General William Barr’s review of Gen. Michael Flynn’s case. Flynn’s supporters, which again includes the president, suggest the documents will exonerate Flynn. In a sudden change of heart, Trump retweeted a post from his son Donald Trump Jr. calling for the imprisonment of FBI officials involved in Flynn’s prosecution.

On Dec. 2, 2017, President Donald Trump tweeted, “I had to fire General (Michael T.) Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”

Flynn served in the U.S. Army with distinction in Afghanistan and Iraq. He was the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency for two years during the Obama Administration. He served as Trumps’ first National Security Adviser. His tenure was the shortest in history, lasting 24 days before resigning after it was revealed he misled the FBI and Vice President Mike Pence about the nature and content of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak.

In December 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with Kislyak in the fall 2016 before Trump was sworn into office. Flynn was being prosecuted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller pursuant to 18 U.S. Code 1001, a federal statute that “makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation,” in this case to the FBI, unlawful.

Flynn’s case has been bogged down in federal court as his new defense team alleges he was framed in a government conspiracy. Last month, Flynn withdrew his guilty plea. According to USA TODAY Flynn’s lawyers accused prosecutors of acting in “bad faith” during their investigation.

Flynn’s attorneys accused the government of forcing him to admit to crimes he didn’t commit and hiding evidence that would’ve exonerated him."

Great Laurie’s son died in an auto accident in Aug 2008 at age 33

The first-born son of prominent evangelist Greg Laurie died in a car accident on a Thursday morning in July 2008.

Christopher Laurie, 33, was killed when his vehicle crashed into the back of a Caltrans truck on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Serfas Club Drive in Corona, Calif. He was on his way to Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside.

"The FBI is fighting back against criticism leveled against Director Christopher Wray by Republicans who contend he botched the handling of the case against retired Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn.

Brian Hale, the FBI’s assistant director for the Office of Public Affairs, released a statement on Tuesday that said the bureau chief “has fully cooperated and been transparent with” U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Jensen, appointed by Attorney General William Barr earlier this year to review the Flynn case. The FBI spokesman said Wray has also worked closely with DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz in his Crossfire Hurricane investigation as well as with U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was handpicked by Barr to lead an investigation of the Trump-Russia investigators.

Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the ranking Republican on the House Oversight Committee, and Mike Johnson of Louisiana sent a letter to Wray on Monday, saying that what they found “even more concerning” than the newly revealed details about the Flynn case was that “we continue to learn these new details from litigation and investigations — not from you.” They further stated, “It is well past time that you show the leadership necessary to bring the FBI past the abuses of the Obama-Biden era.”"

Imperial College epidemiologist Neil Ferguson developed models that predicted hundreds of thousands would die unless the U.K. imposed drastic restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus. His advice was key in triggering Britain's lockdown in March. Under the rules, people are barred from visiting friends and family that they don’t live with.

Ferguson quit the government’s scientific advisory panel late Tuesday after the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported that a woman he is in a relationship with had crossed London to visit him at his home.

Ferguson said in a statement that he had “made an error of judgment and took the wrong course of action.”

Total two-way trade between the two countries is already worth about $269 billion a year. Each country is the other’s largest source of foreign direct investment, with about $1 trillion invested in each other’s economies. Every day, around one million Americans go to work for UK firms, while around one million Britons go to work for American firms. (more)

An important geopolitical overlay helps to better understand the specifics of this dynamic.

The United States is essentially a self-sustaining economy. Meaning, if you think about a nation as an independent construct able to sustain itself; our imports are enhancements not priorities. Our domestic resources, energy development, food production and essential internal needs are capable of sustaining our population. The import of products is valuable, but in the bigger picture not fundamentally necessary for survival.

The United Kingdom is very similar in this regard. The U.K. has abundant energy resources, food and agricultural development, and is positioned as an independent economy absent the dynamic of internal politics regulating those functions. Domestic politics surrounding left-wing climate change (energy development etc), to restrict internal development, are a function of ability, not necessity. The U.K. has abundant coal, oil and natural gas; it also has abundant agriculture. [The U.K weakness is military defense.]

Because both nations are similar in their ability to be non-dependent on trade, a free trade agreement is essentially a second-tier negotiation on products and services that enhance the independence. This is a unique dynamic not found in all trade discussions. Two independent economic systems negotiating on trade enhancements to each-other.

This is a much different dynamic than negotiation with a dependent country like China. China cannot feed itself, it needs to import raw materials to sustain itself; thus the importance of the One-Belt/One-Road Beijing initiative. China is a massive economy, but China is also a dependent economy; subject to damage from external dynamics.

Similarly, due to advanced political ideology, Canada cannot sustain itself economically; however, they are dependent by choice. Currently Mexico is not self-sustaining; they too are dependent on both access to the U.S. market and the import of industrial goods. However, unlike Canada our southern trade partner is working toward self-sustenance.

♦ Dependence or Independence is the ultimate context for all trade negotiations.

Dependent countries do not inherently carry negotiation leverage, and must create leverage through access to their economy (China again). The more independent the internal economy is within any nation, the less dependency they have. Less dependency means more leverage… more leverage means better terms (with nationalist negotiators).

A U.S-U.K trade agreement would not be based on “essential” trade products or “vital” trade services. The trade is not essential, but it is complimentary.

A U.S. and U.K. trade agreement is based on mutual enhancements or mutual benefits. This is an important distinction to keep in mind because it plays into the larger geopolitical dynamic.

The U.K. is currently in a post-Brexit negotiation phase after they spit away from the European Union. Strategically, it is smart for the U.K. to enter into trade discussions with the U.S. for needed products and services they might currently be gaining from the EU.

The timing of trade discussion with the U.S. gives Prime Minister Boris Johnson leverage toward the EU. President Trump and Boris Johnson have previously discussed this.

Additionally, the U.S. and E.U will eventually have to work out a new trade agreement because President trump is realigning all existing U.S. trade terms.

The U.S. already carries all of the leverage in any discussion with the EU; both in terms of market size, need for EU to retain access to the U.S. market, and the generous one-way tariff benefit currently maintained by the EU (which Trump is about to confront). Enhancing the U.S. leverage by providing a super-highway for transatlantic trade between the U.S. and U.K. puts the EU at an even further strategic disadvantage with the U.S.

On May 3, Pompeo said that the US has “enormous evidence” to show that the coronavirus began in the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Beijing has refused to give international scientists access to learn what happened.

“He (Pompeo) said ‘enormous evidence’. Then show us,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told a media briefing here.

“Pompeo cannot present any evidence because he does not have any,” Hua said. “This matter should be handled by scientists and professionals instead of politicians out of their domestic political need.”She said the head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) stated that the US has not presented any evidence to it so far to back up its claims.

“On the issue of the origin of coronavirus, people have different opinions. I think tracing the origin is a very serious matter. "Sunday's "ill-fated" plot against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro will be a tough situation for the United States to negotiate and will have a large impact on the relationship with the South American nation, former CIA Station Chief Daniel Hoffman stated Wednesday.

Appearing on "Fox & Friends" with host Brian Kilmeade, Hoffman said that the "coup" Maduro had reported was hardly on the scale of what he claimed.

"It's a small incursion, roughly 60 Venezuelans and a couple of retired U.S. Special Forces ... which went horrifically bad. Just bad judgment on the part of those who tried to launch this, again, this incursion," he noted. "But, it will have an impact far greater, unfortunately, in Venezuela and in our relationship with Venezuela."

In a speech Monday, Maduro boasted that two U.S. citizens – in addition to more than 100 "terrorist mercenaries" – had been captured after an ultimately unsuccessful plot to kill him in Caracas a day earlier, claiming that the Trump administration "is fully and completely involved in this defeated raid."

The two Americans were identified as Luke Denman and Airan Berry, both previously U.S. Special Forces soldiers, also known as Green Berets. However, another former Green Beret, Florida-based Jordan Goudreau, is saying he orchestrated the botched attack from Colombia.

While the United States and more than 100 other countries no longer recognize Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela – throwing their support behind opposition figure Juan Guaido instead – Maduro has maintained his position.

The office of former President Barack Obama in March privately bashed Senate Republicans’ investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son in Ukraine, a probe it deemed as lending credence to a “Russian disinformation campaign,” according to a letter obtained by Fox News.

The letter, addressed to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which manages presidential records, was written in response to a request on Nov. 21, 2019, by Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson for Obama administration records on Ukraine-related meetings.

The letter referred to their request as improper use of the NARA’s release terms and a supposed effort “to shift the blame for Russian interference in the 2016 election to Ukraine.”

It goes on to cite testimony from former National Security aide Fiona Hill who derided the idea of Ukrainian interference in the 2016 election as a “fictional narrative that is being perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services.”

Under the Presidential Records Act, incumbent and former presidents may claim executive privilege over record requests. However, the NARA is permitted to provide special access to both Houses of Congress ahead of the documents’ scheduled release date.

The letter states that the office of former President Obama has “produced 12,880 pages of presidential records in response to special access requests from the White House and Congress.”

“This use of the special access process serves no legitimate purpose, and does not outweigh or justify infringing confidentiality interests that all presidents have sought to protect,” the letter says.

The office says it permitted Grassley and Johnson’s request “in the interest of countering the misinformation campaign underlying this request.”

The letter's release comes after Grassley and Johnson, who chair the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, respectively, sent a letter to the secretary of state last month demanding more information on the Obama administration’s dealings in Ukraine.

Justice Democrats, a far-left political group associated with the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wing of the Democratic Party, has quietly formed a super PAC.

The move opens the big-money floodgates for a group that routinely lambasts the "power of large corporations, billionaires, and wealthy campaign contributions in our democracy." Natalie Trent, treasurer of the Justice Democrats PAC, informed the Federal Election Commission on May 1 that the group is creating a new account that is able to collect unlimited contributions from corporations and labor groups.

The new super PAC will operate alongside Justice Democrats PAC, a traditional PAC. But while the latter cannot collect donations in excess of $5,000 per election cycle, the new super PAC is free to collect unlimited sums from big-money donors, which runs counter to Justice Democrats' political platform and founding principles. The group has called for public financing of elections and the "removal of the corrupting influence of corporate and big money in our democracy."

"This committee intends to establish a second bank account to deposit and withdraw funds raised in unlimited amounts from individuals, corporations, labor organizations, and/or political committees," Trent wrote in a letter to the FEC. "The funds maintained in this account will not be used to make contributions, whether direct, in-kind, or via coordinated communications, or coordinated expenditures, to federal candidates or committees."

Trent and Justice Democrats did not respond to inquiries on whether the super PAC's formation contradicts the group's reform proposals.

The Justice Democrats PAC, which was instrumental in pushing Ocasio-Cortez into office, has so far collected $2.2 million in contributions for the 2020 cycle. Last year, the group came under fire for transferring $1 million to two limited liability companies that were started by Saikat Chakrabarti, a cofounder of the group who went on to become Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff in her Washington, D.C., office.

Chakrabarti is not the only founding member of Justice Democrats to benefit from transfers from the PAC.

Zack Exley, another Justice Democrats cofounder, helped create a firm called Middle Seat Consulting in early 2017. Justice Democrats PAC paid Middle Seat hundreds of thousands of dollars and still has Exley's firm on its payroll. Ocasio-Cortez's campaign also dished out $200,000 to the firm in the third quarter of 2019.

Ambassador Chen Xu said Wednesday that Beijing would not prioritize any foreign expert mission to probe the coronavirus outbreak while the pandemic continues.

"The top priority, for the time being, is to focus on the fight against the pandemic until we win the final victory," Chen told reporters during an online video briefing. "We need the right focus and allocation of our resources."

"It's not that we are allergic to any kind of investigations, inquiries or evaluations," Chen said, which he noted could help prepare the international community for future pandemics. "We need to race with time to save lives as much as we can," he explained.

The World Health Organization has said it is waiting for an invitation from Beijing to take part in a coronavirus investigation. Asked whether the WHO could expect such a proposal, Chen replied: "For whether or how the invitation will take place, we need to have the right priority setting at this moment, and on the other hand, we need the right atmosphere."

Newsweek has contacted the Chinese mission to the UN in Geneva to request further comment on the conditions under which China would allow an international investigation to take place."

"A Wisconsin Supreme Court justice invoked World War II-era internment camps while calling the state's extended stay-at-home order the “definition of tyranny.”

Justice Rebecca Bradley questioned the order during video oral arguments Tuesday concerning a lawsuit brought by Republican state lawmakers against Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and State Health Secretary Andrea Palm. The state’s administration has ordered its stay-at-home order, which began on March 24, be extended until May 26, according to the Washington Post.

"Isn't it the very definition of tyranny for one person to order people to be imprisoned for going to work, among other ordinarily lawful activities?" Bradley asked. “The people never consented to a single individual having that kind of power."

The justice also compared the order to U.S. internment camps for Japanese Americans during World War II.

“I’ll direct your attention to another time in history, in the Korematsu decision, where the court said the need for action is great and time is short, and that justified ‘assembling together and placing under guard all those of Japanese ancestry' in assembly centers during World War II,” she added."

March 11, 1918

An Army private at Fort Riley, Kansas reports to the camp hospital complaining of fever, sore throat, and headache. Before the day is over, over 100 soldiers fall sick.

July 1918

Public health officials in Philadelphia issue a warning about what they call the “Spanish influenza”.

Aug. 27, 1918

Sailors stationed aboard the Receiving Ship at Commonwealth Pier in Boston begin reporting to the sick bay with cold symptoms.

Aug. 30, 1918

At least 60 sailors aboard the Receiving Ship fall sick.

September 1918

Dr. Victor Vaughn, acting Surgeon General of the Army, receives urgent orders to proceed to Camp Devens near Boston. Once there, what Vaughn sees stuns him: “I saw hundreds of young stalwart men in uniform coming into the wards of the hospital. Every bed was full, yet others crowded in. The faces wore a bluish cast; a cough brought up the blood-stained sputum. In the morning, the dead bodies are stacked about the morgue like cordwood.” That day, 63 men die of influenza.

Sept. 5, 1918

The Massachusetts Department of Health informs local newspapers that they are dealing with an epidemic. A doctor with the Massachusetts State Health Department says, “unless precautions are taken the disease in all probability will spread to the civilian population of the city.”

Sept. 24, 1918

Edward Wagner, newly transplanted from Chicago, falls ill with the flu. This flies in the face of San Francisco public health officials who had played down the threat of the flu to the public.

Sept. 28, 1918

200,000 gather for a 4th Liberty Loan Drive in Philadelphia. Days after the parade, 635 new cases of influenza were reported. Within days, the city will be forced to admit that epidemic conditions exist. Churches, schools, and theaters are ordered closed, along with all other places of “public amusement.”

Oct. 2, 1918

By the point, the death toll in Boston is 202. The Liberty Bond parades are cancelled as well as all sporting events. The stock market goes on half-days.

Oct. 3, 1918

The epidemic reaches Seattle, Washington, with 700 cases and one death at the University of Washington Naval Training Station.

Philadelphia records 289 influenza-related deaths in a single day.

New Mexico, which had remained largely untouched by the influenza, reports its first case.

Santa Fe, New Mexico reports its first flu-related death.

In a single day, 851 New Yorkers die. The death rate in Philly for the period of a single week is 700 times the average. The Chicago crime rate drops 43 percent.

In Philadelphia, Dr. C.Y. White announces he has developed a preventative vaccine. More than 10,000 complete series of inoculations are sent to the Philadelphia Board of Health.

Many parties which have been planned for Friday and Saturday night have been postponed as the quarantine will not be lifted before next Monday. But not all of the Halloween spirit has been killed by the influenza. Crowds of boys and girls have been using ticktacks on the windows, tearing down gates and and beating the porches with planks , for the last three nights, and they are all prepared to be out tonight, so be not surprised if you hear mysterious noise tonight.”

October 1918 ends up being the deadliest month in the history of the United States, with 195,000 Americans succumbing to the influenza.

The News of the World prints some suggested flu precautions: “Wash inside nose with soap and water each night and morning; force yourself to sneeze night and morning, then breathe deeply; do not wear a muffler; take sharp walks regularly and walk home from work; eat plenty of porridge.”

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un deliberately faked his death to expose traitors in his circle and who had hopes of taking power from the leader's "death", reports claimed.

Sky News Australia has said that Kim, 36, may have deliberately pretended to be dead so that he could figure out if there were leaks in his inner circle in North Korea. 

Kim disappeared from state media for three weeks, sparking wild rumours about his health and whereabouts, and worry about prospects for the nuclear-armed state in the event of an unexpected succession.

Those rumours were squashed on Saturday when North Korean media published photographs and video of Kim at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of a fertiliser plant.

Sky Outsiders host James Morrow told Australian viewers that Kim Jong may have been pulling a “classic Stalinist manoeuvre” to see what the public’s response was.

It is now possible that the leader will use the responses from his long period of absence to begin “purging” those he believes colluded to take over.

The leader’s reappearance into the spotlight has ruined the credibility of high profile defectors who had suggested Kim Jong was suffering from a life-threatening illness or had died.

His re-emergence came as a blow to the credibility of some high-profile defectors from the North who had speculated that Kim was suffering from a grave illness or could even be dead, the report added.

One of the defectors, Thae Yong-ho, was North Korea's deputy ambassador to Britain, where he managed secret funds for Kim. Thae fled to South Korea in 2016 and was one of a pair of defectors elected to parliament last month.

"I am aware that one of the reasons why many of you voted for me as a lawmaker is with the expectations of an accurate analysis and projections on North Korean issues," Thae said in a statement. "I feel the blame and heavy responsibility."

"Whatever the reasons, I apologise to everyone."

The other prominent defector elected to parliament, Ji Seong-ho, had said in a media interview he was 99% certain that Kim had died after cardiovascular surgery and an official announcement would come as soon as Saturday.

Daily NK, a Seoul-based news outlet with sources inside North Korea, reported in April that Kim was recovering from a cardiovascular procedure.

Ji, who was invited to attend US President Donald Trump's State of the Union address in 2018, issued a statement to apologise.

"I have pondered on myself for the past few days, and felt the weight of the position that I'm in," Ji said.

Russian billionaire Dmitry Bosov found dead in apparent suicide

Co-founded Blackspace, assets: VostokCoal, Sibanthracite Group

Russian billionaire Dmitry Bosov, whose core asset was a major coal company, was found dead Wednesday in an apparent suicide near his home in the Moscow region, local officials say. He was 52 years old.

A spokeswoman for Russia’s Investigative Committee told the Interfax news agency that relatives found Bosov with a gunshot wound to the head near his home in the town of Usovo.

A law enforcement source told the TASS news agency that investigators believe Bosov had committed suicide. A Glock 19 Gen 4 pistol was found near his body, according to Interfax.

Other details were not immediately known.

Bosov’s net worth was estimated to be $1.1 billion at the time of his death, according to Forbes magazine. His core assets were VostokCoal and the Sibanthracite Group, which unites several coal produces in Siberia. He and a partner also co-founded a company called Blackspace in 2015
