>Did Bones bone all the nurses?

Nope. I mean, he certainly could have if he wanted. The man's got serious game.

But even more than game, he's got brains.

When he's in sickbay, he's only got two things on his mind: performing medical miracles on a regular basis, and enjoying a quiet drink, and he does both with style and skill. He won't put up with jealousy drama in his home base, and that's a guaranteed outcome if he started tapping nurses.

But non-nurses? Oh yeah. He indulges.

Jellico, being a competent captain and not desperate for hollywood action fights like Patrick Steward, would never have been dumb enough to try and lead a team of commando's on a raid behind enemy lines in the first place and would thus never have been captured like Picard was.

Picard is a plenty good captain if you need someone to hold a formal diplomatic event, ferry about Federation dignitaries, rush out medical supplies like an overpriced fedex courier or command a ship sitting around gawping at spatial anomalies and shit. If your ship is leading hostile negotiations with people looking for an excuse to go to war with you and your ship might be the only warship within a hundred lightyears of the frontline if negotiations fail however, Jellico is your man.

Let's have a weapons discussion in trek. What phaser rifles would you like to have. Would you want a Fed model, or the more brutally simple spoonhead made direct energy rifle. If the technology reaches a point where stopping powah and ammo capacity becomes relatively same, would the shape and size of direct energy weapons favor a submachine gun size instead of full length rifles.

Would you rather have a makleth instead of the larger bat'leth due to the extreme short distance of melee CQC in space ship boarding or battle situations. Do you think Worf is a klingon weeaboo who is far too focused on muh million times folded bat'leth because HONOR when he could have got a lot more more out of practical shorter bladed klingon weapons.

>space is very cold

Common Hollywood myth. Space isn't cold. Space is nothing. There is no air or anything else in space to come into contact with objects to change their temperature. In fact, in most cases space is too hot. Things that produce heat (read: literally everything that does things, because entropy) must have careful cooling methods as they naturally can only lose heat through radiation, not convection or conduction. Satellites and spacecraft have radiator panels, and astronauts have cooling suits that circulate water through tubes in their undergarments. If that system malfunctioned, you'd boil to death from your own body heat in minutes.

Science: Spock

Tactical and Diplomatic : Riker

Engineering: Also Geordi, but from Conn

Medical: Phlox

Annoying and unnecessary bridge presence: Mirror Qt nondescript.

I'll be damned if someone was not getting laid on this crew and not riker or geordi (probably phlox).

In terms of What I would do with the series (more /strek/ dream series pitch: Imagine an outsider perspective on the federation as one curious human, one emotional vulcan, one stoic tellerite and one half andorian (enduring qt blue chick) go on zany adventures on a boat that consists of nothing but folded light and shield harmonics. The federation is portrayed as nothing but sympathetic aside from some grousing in the first episodes, the captain and crew have to deal with hard decisions in the far reaches of space without the oversight of starfleet making it paletable, more holograms then you really want to account for and the series ends with Two of them joining Starfleet and two others leaving on a ship of memories and tears realizing that their real enemy was time all along

Goddamn it, but did Paper Moon hit me right in the feels…

I was riding a motorcycle home from a friend's birthday party, and I got hit by a car and thrown off the freeway. Compound fractures in my tibia and fibula, and fractures in my pelvis and spine. Hit-and-run, so they never caught the guy.

I was in the hospital for 15 days before they sent me home. Couldn't even poop for the first 5 days, and trying to roll onto a bed pan with a broken pelvis and spine was agony. Said they weren't sure if the nerves would recover enough to make it worthwhile to keep it. Came back 2 weeks later for a follow-up appointment, and when they cut the cast off, I had a festering infection all the way to the bone. That was another 25 days in the hospital, stuck in a bed with tubes and wires all over me. Had a tube pumping antibiotics straight into my heart for eight weeks. The pain shattered my sense of dignity, and I spent so long lying down that it took a week of therapy to even sit up without passing out.

It wasn't until 8 months later that my leg had recovered enough that they stopped talking about amputating it. In the meantime, I had lost my job, seen a hospital bill for more than I'll probably ever make in my life, been through several excruciating procedures, experienced severe opium withdrawls, and spent over a month staring at the ceiling, feeling helpless.

I have to say, some good came of it. I've always been emotionally distant (bit of a sperg), but seeing my family and some of my friends come together to be with me through the experience made me feel so much more connected to other human beings than I've ever been. I still tear up just thinking about how much I appreciate them being there for me. It made me a more sensitive person, able to connect with people better, and it's sort of indirectly the reason why I met the wonderful woman who is now my girlfriend. Plus handicapped parking is really convenient.

I've physically recovered about as much as can be expected, and some days I don't even need my cane. I still can't stand or walk for too long before my leg and back start hurting. The thing is, as a young man my age, I've always been expected to be able to do physical labor as part of my job, and so all my job history is based on that. I have no idea how Post too long. on a ship like this doing constant exploration and whatever else starfleet assigns it to do 24 hours a day, shoulnd't there technically be three sets of senior crews (ie three captains + senior staff) working 3 shifts of 8 hours each, on account of the fact that the day/night cycle doesn't even exist? or does the enterprise just go hide in some neubla to idle for 12 to 16 hours when picard and the rest of the senior staff finish their shifts?

What does /strek/ think about its premise and concept? I know that the movies weren't particularly good with the last two being particularly egregious, but is it fundamentally flawed to begin with or worthy of continuing under different direction? What would you think if it continued with a Kelvin Picard rather than Kirk?

They can though. Just instead of playing time traveling universe splitting Spock, in our Star Trek AU he can play an old admiral or something. Why does Seth fucking MacFarlane of all fucking people seem to understand that you can have nostalgia bait casting without reusing characters? Why in this era where people go to see all the latest capshit rebooted billions of times and understand that different continuities can exist side by side, are the people in charge of Star Trek convinced that the difference between trekies liking or hating new shit in based on it being in continuity with the old shit?

The mere existence of the Orville is proof that people will give a show a chance based on it being sold as "basically Star Trek" despite obviously not being in any Star Trek continuity. Why can't the CBS/Paramount jews make the obvious step of "Star Trek but not in continuity"? They'd then have to make something actually good to get fans on board, but declaring it openly a separate canon would even give them more freedom to blow shit up in their generic action schlock.

To me, this was the start of 'nerdom' dying. Yeah, Big Bang Theory and than the like had been out since 2007 but the 2009 film? It's sacrilege on an unprecedented scale. They don't try to adhere to canon, they make it the most broad movie possible to normies. JJ and his fucking lens-flare and fuck him for wanting to make SW but he only had the ST license at the time.

The movie itself I find horrendous but what it's done for ST is still being felt today, with STD.

>Yeah, Big Bang Theory and than the like had been out since 2007 but the 2009 film? It's sacrilege on an unprecedented scale

That actually fits the timeline perfectly, when you think about it. Brapp Bazinga Theory wasn't complete trash when it first aired still overwhelmingly mediocre though, it only got real bad around Season 2-3 (so around 2009), when normies jumped on it en masse, characters with vaginas were introduced, and pop culture references were abound.

>JJ and his fucking lens-flare and fuck him for wanting to make SW

You of all people should know that JJ doesn't have the slightest idea of how to make a SW movie either, Traya.

>Bazinga Theory

Bazinga Theory anyway is just a poor knockoff of the IT Crowd.

>JJ doesn't know how to make a SW movie

No but he knows how to copy one scene for scene.

Say you gained access to a Holodeck and you could essentially make your own custom Star Trek episode with all of the original actors, or even new ones. What would your ideal episode be about? Which crew would it feature? Would you try to write an episode about the Guardian at the edge of forever into TNG? Maybe make a mirror universe tng episode? Or would you say fuck all of that and make your own trek series. What would you do anon?

I actually liked it a lot, maybe the best of this season. It had some emotion without getting melodramatic, and it gave Malloy something to do besides comic relief.

I wish they'd made more use of Tim Russ, though.
